left over V- 11 dish with left over shrimp appetizer.
    Marc L.

Very excited. My last day in the hospital. Going home tomorrow. I love exploring different restaurants In Portland using delivery services. My review after lunch will speak volumes. I had a V11 noodle dish with shrimp & beef & fried wrapped shrimp appetizer. The portion was very good however the beef was not velveted & was somewhat chewy. Only 2 measly sized shrimp in the dish. The side of sauce was very good m. I was disappointed in the quantity & they had no flavor. The dish had no mint or basil & I think I tasted one single peanut. This dish was not like the Thai beef bee bong dish I have at Apsara restaurant on public st in Providence R.I. There dish has mega amounts of bean sprouts, basil, coconut cream among other items & a full sized fried spring roll. Adding in chili paste & siracha make this my go to meal whenever I get to RI. I suggest the owners of veranda house take a trip to Apsara & try out their version as well as the extensive menu to see what real asian food should be like. Unfortunately I will not be returning to Veranda Noodle House. Boda Restaurant is next on my agenda when I get back to Portland.

Any time I crave pho, I go to Veranda Noodle Bar! The waitress is always the same person and she is helpful/kind. Service is quick and the pho is delicious and a good portion size. The restaurant is clean and has a good amount of seating.

Love love love this spot! This is my typical go to place for Pho at a good price! I've been to this location probably 6-7 times now and everytime I've went I had a good experience. Service has always been quick and nice. I've had other dishes here before such as the Rangoons, which are also delicious. However, I highly recommend this place if you want Pho to warm yourself up on a cold night! I typically order the House XL because I prefer more portions. It comes with a variety of meats. I accidentally added jalapeño's to the dish before the picture, but it comes as an optional side along with the others you see in the picture. Lots of noddles and meat! 9/10.

We came for dinner and we're surprise on how delicious the food was. Service was mediocre, but there was one lady for the whole front of the store and taking phone/take out orders. We still did not feel like we were lacking anything. When the food came out, it was hot and delicious. I got the vegetable lo mein and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I had to stop myself from eating the whole plate even though I was full. Definitely stop here and try the noodles!

Service was quick. The food was also very good and reasonably priced. They put a lot of meat in my pho which was great. It got quiet busy in the evening and they need an extra helper. The lady was running around like crazy. Bathroom was clean but it was weird that they put the big mop and bucket in there.

The egg rolls were good and pipping hot just like I like them. The shrimp spring roll were gigantic and fresh but mostly filled with lettuce. Nevertheless a good appetizer. The pho here is something I would not eat here again. The broth was flavorless and so watered down . Their siracha was watered down . Not sure why but it is. First time I didn't finish my bowl of pho. The steak was over cooked so it was tough to chew. Overall I may come back to try other stuff on the menu but not the beef soup.

    Steak Pho all dressed up.

The food is very good, we ordered the steak pho which came as a very generous portion with all the fixings for $14. The service was good, there was only one lady doing front of house service but she was attentive and kept our water glasses full. The setting is lacking luster, slightly run down in appearance, but we enjoyed our meal!

In a word: Outstanding! I took my sweetheart here for her birthday and I'm so glad I did and she is too! It was a quiet Tuesday night and we had our choice of seats. She likes the window seats so, that is where we headed. We had been here before but it had been a couple of years. I forgot how big the servings are, especially the soup! She had a seafood soup with lots of seafood and I had a seafood combo stir fry also with lots of seafood. Attentive wait staff without being over the top made this a wonderful experience. Highly recommend

Ok, I'm upgrading this to 3 stars, as they've definitely made improvements. The food is solid and I really want to love this place again, but the service for me has been inconsistent. Looking forward to giving them another try with their outdoor seating soon!

There's records being thrown down, cool lighting, nice decor and even super friendly folks. The employees here are beyond nice and welcoming. Like they know what they are doing here and they are offering you an experience that is fun and funky. We started off with two drinks. One was called a salad of some sort (sorry, blacked out) and it was delicious. The other was just as good. Ordered the eggplant app - do not leave without this. Absolutely amazing. For food, we ordered a rice bowl with pork sausage and a noodle bowl (with lobster and clams). Don't remember the names. Both were absolutely fantastic. The flavor profiles are just incredible. The rice bowl had so many things happening. Just terrific. The noodle bowl has a broth that you would drink daily. There wasn't one thing that could have made these dishes any better. Service: Great Food: We started off with soft serve and the seasonal earl gray outshined the house honey. The earl gray had a great flavor topped with an excellent syrup while the honey was mild and the chocolate shell didn't add anything, although the 'honeycomb' bits were delic. Crispy eggplant special - good, very small portion Pork katsu sandwich - pretty solid, interesting pickle Pad mee korat - good, small portion Value: Aside from the soft serve, the portions were very small for ~$17 price point, and the food was good but aside from the earl gray soft serve, didn't amaze to the point of paying a higher price point. Overall I did like this meal but portions were small for prices. I hope they keep the earl gray soft serve around!

This is the place you'll take friends when you want an easy night out but still make it fun. Straightforward, friendly service. Cocktails are creative, the coconut pandan mojito was extremely refreshing in comparison to the umami-forward dishes. The twice-fried chicken was notable, the caramelization made it so savory. The fresh spring rolls were also good, with shrimp, pork belly, chicken as additional fillings. My favorite dish of the night was easily the house noodle soup. The braised beef was melt-in-your-mouth good and the broth was incredibly savory. The Mee Katang was the second runner up - I love a short rib with a wide noodle. Did not have any issues with signage/ordering food/seating - there was a clear sign that said dinner upstairs, take out downstairs and someone upstairs was shepherding people to tables. They do take reservations over the phone.

I had an order of the banh chao fresh rolls (coconut scallion rice crepes filled with shiso, mint, carrot, daikon, cukes, lettuce, peace shoots) with the lemon herb sauce. Which had an unexpected and delightful kick to it; I loved the heat and ended up pouring that sauce all over the vegan kuyteav cha (rice noodles with fried tofu, pineapple, veggies, and ginger garlic oil) I got! Other veg options: the fried green beans (with maple tamari and salted bean sauce), phsaet ang (oyster mushroom skewers with a cashew green sauce and papaya pickles), neorm (a vermicelli noodle salad) specifically with fried tofu, and mi goreng (fried dry wheat noodles with sweet soy curry, chili oil, gai lon pickled shiitake and bean sprouts, lime; ask for it be vegan to omit the egg). While the food was good, the staff was the best part. Smart, clever, funny, fast, friendly, genuine; it was one of the realest interactions I've had at a restaurant in a long time. He went above and beyond checking things were vegan, making amazing recommendations, asking thoughtful questions to my friend about her spice tolerance. He even came upstairs to check in on us. We showed up with a small line waiting to get in/pick up orders. Once inside we waited a little bit for the staff to arrive to greet us, once they did we were told it would be a wait for a table or could sit at the kitchen bar right away. We snagged the two furthest bar seats with a slight peak into the kitchen watching food being prepared. They had QR codes around for you to scan to pull up the menu. Overall it's a small space as well as being a thin and narrow space. Be ready for a possible wait for a spot to open up. To start off we grabbed some cocktails, my wife got their Shiso Lucky (Roku Gin, shiso, lime) and I got Kochi Sunset (Shochu, yuzu, blood orange). Also for a starter we decided to have the Lobster Buns. Cocktails were great and well made. The lobster buns were a fantastic unique way of enjoying lobster. My wife did find the texture of the bun to be not ideal but overall enjoyed it. Entree wise we both decided on the duck ramen. We both enjoyed it very much, my wife could have done without the menma (fermented bamboo shoots). I wish it had more duck in it honestly. The duck was extremely tasty in both the normal meat and meatball. For our return eventually we will both likely try a different ramen to branch out. Overall a pretty solid overall experience. Some small changes could make me change it to a five star from my current four. It certainly fulfilled the ramen craving and I could see this being a no -brainer for stopping at during the brutal winters Maine has.
