General Tao's Chicken with Pork Fried Rice, Egg Roll and Crab Rangoons
Kristine S.

While on a New England road trip, we stayed close to Brunswick, ME for a couple nights. Hubby and I were in the mood for late night Chinese. I called Asian Garden about 10 minutes before their posted close time. I asked if they were still taking orders. The gentleman kindly said if we could pick the order up within 15 minutes he would wait for us. Luckily we were! We ordered a dinner special of General Tao's chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll as well as an order of crab rangoons. Everything was very tasty. The pork fried rice was simple but had good flavor. The chicken was cooked well and the sauce was perfectly spicy. Crispy, yummy egg roll. Hubby and I really enjoyed the crab rangoons as well. Our order was the perfect shareable portion, we were both full and satisfied.

Hot and sour soup with lunch menu

We were in the area antiquing and was looking for lunch. I of course prefers Asian cuisine and I'm also in company of family who like it too. Unfortunately this is not the place. Lunch on a Sunday and the place is full its service was inadequate. We did not get a menu and we decided just to take one to speed up the ordering process. We waited and waited and the cashier was slow and not efficient. She was limping, poor girl. Why is she even at work limping? Once ordered, our meals took forever. The food was merely passable. The rice was soggy didn't like that. The hot and sour soup was good. We had to ask for cutlery. Sorry will not come back. Lacking too many basic things.

Great place for its food and the superb location. Their lunch special menu is very impressive and priced reasonably! Dinner is on a bit pricey side yet the ingredients are all fresh and the service is great! I've tried both Thai and Chinese dishes on the menu, and both of them are good. Highly recommended! Bowdoin students who show them ID cards can get 10% off discount. ;-)

Nice choices, able to make substitutions, and delicious. Perfectly cooked - not greasy at all! Food was served quickly. My only issue is that the one waitress was slow at clearing the table. It seems they need more help at lunchtime.

The sesame chicken is always made fresh with white meat. They don't have MSG in any of their food. I really enjoy eating here.

Maybe the lights were a little harshly bright, but otherwise a fine place to dine. We didn't get too many things, as we stopped in more for a finisher for the evening than full meal (we'd come from a party with small foods). We ordered a shoyu ramen and a dragon roll. Interesting note on the dragon roll, it has a sweet potato interior. This led to a distinct flavor from other rolls I've had in the past, and a smooshier texture, but a good roll nonetheless. The ramen was mostly a delight. Sumptuous broth, the egg was not too hard nor soft, and almost all the ingredients were perfect. Which I usually avoid that word because it's too subjective, but it seems to fit here. Major exception is the chashu pork. It was overcooked to the extreme. No other word for it, these dried out circles of meat were thick and chewy, and soaking them in the broth couldn't save them. Sad. Otherwise, some of the best ramen I've had since leaving Japan. The only other note I'd have is I just wanted some tea, and had to order a weird tea concoction to get it. Sometimes you'd just like an oolong tea, nothing fancy. I recommend this restaurant, overall, and hope you enjoy it too.

Sorry, fellas. This sushi is extremely average at best. If it was an off-night, that's unfortunate…read more And I feel bad about that, because the interior was welcoming, and our server was very friendly and efficient. Had to get the sushi "yacht" for two. But the nigiri was kind of weird. The rice tasted warm. Not like, perfect temperature from the hands of the itamae, but weird tepid lukewarm sitting around rice. The sashimi didn't seem so fresh to me, and sushi grade quality was questionable. The roll also seemed to be at an odd temperature. Overall I was rather disappointed. The best part for me was the sake. But my date (outside of her comfort zone) did seem to like it overall. I don't want to be negative, but this is definitely a "won't visit again" for me.

My wife and I shared three maki: vegetable tempura, inari (sweet marinated tofu), and avocado dream. We would love to return to try some of their many other vegetarian options. The vegetable tempura roll, which contained broccoli, green bean, sweet potato, onion tempura, and sweet brown glaze, was probably my favorite. This roll was huge, so open wide! The avocado dream was a close second, with sweet potato, avocado, and cream cheese. It's tempura fried with a truffle mayo on top, which gave it a really unique flavor! Though not as fancy as the two specialty maki, the inari maki was delicious too. The service was prompt and the kitchen was efficient, so we had plenty of time to get to our next destination without worrying. I'd love to return if I'm ever back in Brunswick!

Confession time: the idea of paying to cook my own dinner has never exactly screamed "great night…read moreout." Then I went to N to Tail, and now I'm considering a career in table-side grilling. The meal started with spicy cucumbers, fried eggplant, and Korean fried chicken. The cucumbers were refreshing, sweet, spicy, and dangerously addictive. The eggplant was crispy, sticky, and packed with flavor. And the fried chicken? My partner could have just eaten that alone and been happy! The four of us went all in on the largest combo platter. Short rib, ribeye, pork belly, shrimp, chicken, veggies--the grill was working overtime. The short rib ipractically melted, the ribeye was buttery perfection, and the pork belly reminded us why pork belly has such a devoted fan club. There was a brief period where my partner and I had no idea what we were doing at the grill, luckily we were with seasoned veterans of it! By the end of the meal my confidence was soaring that I could do this again! The banchan, which the server hinted at has a few sides that change time to time, kept every bite interesting The service was fantastic and so informative, and the entire experience was far more fun than I expected. N to Tail is a hidden gem. Come hungry, bring friends, and don't be surprised if you leave wondering why you haven't stopped by sooner.

We were really excited to try this spot out and chow down on a bunch of meat. We came in at 5pm and waited to be seated. The host said table for 4? I said yes. He said okay and was about to guide us but then I said oh and 2 babies. His reaction, ohhhh I don't we can accommodate your party here, sorry. I was caught off guard since I've never been to a restaurant that turned people away. I'm assuming kids/babies aren't welcomed here? There were plenty of large tables available in the front where the host stand was. I could count 4 tables on my way in, 1 or 2 of them larger tables. We were open to the grill tops or regular tables but he didn't ask us. I guess if you have kids, save the hassle and dine elsewhere. We ended up at Highrollers for the evening.
