With having always gone to China Rose down the road and then now being shut down I wanted to try a new Chinese spot and chose Golden Chopsticks. I ordered through DoorDash and the food came right on time and nice and hot. I ordered the General Tso Dinner Combination. The chicken was packed with flavor and delicious and is some of the best I've had around, I would definitely recommend this dish as it left me very satisfied! The rice and egg roll that came with it were decent. I also got the Boneless Spare Ribs which were delicious and the steamed dumplings which were decent. Not the best Chinese I've had but I will definitely be going back there since it's probably the best spot in the area if you don't want to drive all the way to Portland for Chinese food. read more

Has the food flavors tipped the scale towards the bland side? Maybe - one visit won't tell - but we're over spiced and seasoned anyway - blandness might just be what we need for a stint, give the tired taste buds a little vacay. My Pork Chop Suey did fit that a bit - but it saved San Francisco - way back when it was worth saving - now I wish no less than a deep dive into the dystopian abyss of Atlantis upon it's highways and byways. Inside is a fair attempt to recreate the Chinese experience thru appearance - there was effort taken to capture a little imagination of us Americans. The cusine reminded me a bit of my grandmother's Hungarian goulash -red & white onion & green and red bell peppers (it's available in Beef) all of which could have been cooked a bit longer to release their natural juices. In slight contrast with Lo Mein, Chinese foods more common dish, Chop Suey is made with rice or noodles - Americanized with the multitude of additional ingredients pea pods, chopped carrots, mushrooms & sprouts in a sweet thin glaze lurking below and giving a little float to the rice I poured in - a little pinchy blast of salt and lil red pepper flake with the cooking might just have been seasoning enough. read more

Golden Chopsticks is conveniently located on Cooks Corner just off the exit making it a quick stop on the way to a friend's house when in the area. Staff has always been friendly and they created a to-go pickup window to avoid customers from having to enter the restaurant to get their food. Very convenient given our current COVID circumstances. They do not skimp when it comes to portion size (see photo) and I am a creature of habit hence the ordering of General Tso chicken once again. It's also a way for me to effectively compare all the different variations I have tried across all the Chinese restaurants I have stopped at in order to give you, the Yelp community, a fair and honest opinion from someone who loves General Tso chicken. The Egg roll and friend rice were your typical Chinese complements to the overall dish. I would give them 5-stars for their food, but their choice of container does not hold up well when you have several items that are hot as well. The container tends to deform due to the intense heat from the other containers and in some cases caused it to partially collapse breaking the seal around the container letting steam into the bag. read more

Ordered for the first time today and will definitely be back. I expected a few things to be not up to par it is a holiday and I'm sure they were busy but nothing was good and several things were missing from my large order($160). The rice was very bland and undercooked/crunchy. The duck and sweet and sour sauce did not taste right. Both were very thin and watery not the normal consistency you would expect for both. The boneless ribs were basically tiny pieces or plain pork. Pict a normal piece cute into 3 or 4 pieces. The eggroll had little to no pork it was all large pieces of veggies. The four seasons was nothing like the menu said or I was given the wrong thing. it was all boiled peanuts and celery. The hot and sour soup was more broth than anything else and was not spicy at all. In Maine we have very few good asian restaurants, especially in Brunswick. Golden Chopsticks has decent food, and is a take out entity. The breading on fried items is usually too much, but it is a good value for the money compared with other restaurants. The people that work there are nice. Finding good Asian food usually requires a drive to Portland and the other local establishments are generally worse than Golden Chopsticks. My only gripe was last Saturday night I ordered sweet and sour shrimp but they only provided a tiny amount of sauce, (unlike the usual larger size for dipping). Egg rolls are not authentic but they taste very good. Fried rice portion is large. The bottom line is the food is decent, service is good, but it is take out only. read more

Once in awhile my family gets an urge to eat Americanized Chinese food. I was very disappointed tonight in my order. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp, got sweet and sour chicken..... The breading so thick that I peeled it to eat just the chicken. The fried rice was horrible. The crab rangoon was delicious as well as the egg drop soup. I have been here many times and have not been as disappointed as I was tonight. I have had okay meals here...but Christmas Eve was seriously the last straw. We called our order in and they told us it would be ready in an hour (I actually expected longer given that it was Christmas Eve) my husband arrived and literally waited a whole second hour to get our food. When he got home and we hungrily started eating it was very disappointing. The orange chicken was sooo over cooked, I took three separate bites and had to spit them out. They had sooooo much sauce they were drowning. The lo Melin was so soft and overcooked it was sad. And the fried rice was underwhelming. In addition, our egg rolls had ZERO FLAVOR...they tasted like unflavored, boiled cabbage. I thought maybe I was overreacting...but my husband, who loves all food, was so upset about how bad it was. We got the Crab Rangoon for an appetizer and they were very generic and probably the best part of the meal. The combo platters however was where Golden lacked. We had the Beef Lo Mein which tasted like absolutely nothing. No spice, no flavor, just bland. Had to add our own sauce to make it worth it. We also had the Sesame Chicken. This was ever so slightly better than the Lo Mein with just a dash of more flavor. Both dishes came with wonton soup, which was overly salted, and a spring roll which wasn't bad. The Pork Fried Rice which came with both dishes had zero flavor. Uncle Bens fried rice has more flavor. Luckily the food wasn't over priced, as it was $30 for the meal. read more

Our Chinese food of choice in the Brunswick area! Whenever we have a hankering for some crab rangoons and egg drop soup, this is the place we call. We have never had a bad meal from them. They are always pleasant on the phone and when picking up. They also have a few tables to eat-in but we like to dive in to our to go boxes while watching a movie. It's the best! As many people will say there is always an item on the menu for different ethnic foods that tell whether it's worthy or not. Crab rangoons is the food of choice when it comes to Chinese restaurants, at least for me it is. They had me a first bite. Crispy, crunchy outside and perfect amount of crab mixture inside that actually tastes like crab. Woo hoo. Their spring rolls, egg rolls are also pretty nice. Of course I meant to get the spring rolls steamed and not fried but they were still amazing. The rest of our meals usually consists of General Tso's Chicken (extra spicy), egg drop soup, the pineapple delight, and if I'm being good- steamed veggies. This is a mostly takeout and delivery spot. We ate inside on our way home. A friendly and smiling woman patiently took our order. The food was ready in about ten minutes bit was hot and cooked to order. The orange chicken was flavorful and mildly spicy with a delicious crunchy exterior. It was with choice of pork fried rice soup and a side. The egg rolls were cooked well but the flavor was average. The crab rangoons were excellent, fried to perfection and bursting with creamy crab goodness. The hot and sour soup was thick and had a nice kick of spice. This Chinese restaurant has only a few tables and is mostly geared towards takeout customers. The tables, floor and walls were dirty. We are not from the area and decided to eat in.
