I have been eating here since October and I really like the sushi. My sister and I usually order the spicy tuna roll and the wasabi roll and it is always good except for the last two weeks. Too much rice in fact I feel like I'm eating rice only. The wasabi roll was very dry no shrimp inside only the very small tails at the end of the roll. We have been going to Yokohama since we moved to West Warwick a year and a half ago. Then we saw ratings for Wasabi and decided to try it. Let me tell you... we are never going back to Yokohama. Wasabi has all the trappings of a fancy Japanese restaurant without the cheesy details. They have private booths for couples (we were lucky enough to sit in one) along with regular booths and a bar. We were greeted very warmly even though we arrived an hour and a half before closing (we had trouble making up our minds on where we wanted to go). We were seated right away as it wasn't very busy. The host gave us suggestions on 2 person meals and the waitress was very friendly. We wanted to try a little of everything, so we started with the Yellow-tail Jalapeno and the Salmon Yuzu for appetizers. Along with a Fuji Jade drink for me and a Wasabi saketini for my boyfriend. The Fuji Jade was a very mellow drink, but tasty and the saketini was very flavorful and left a hint of strength as an aftertaste. First came the Yellow-tail. The presentation was fantastic. I really wish I had my camera to capture how well everything looked. It was yellow-tail with a slice of jalapeno with small orange roe in the middle. I'm not a fan of spicy food, but even I went back for seconds. The sauce it came in was sweet and lemony, then the jalapeno added the spicy kick at the end. Phenomenal. We then had the salmon which wasn't spicy but the sauce was so sweet we were licking our fingers by the end (the fish was so tender we couldn't keep it together with our chopsticks!). Then came the main meals. I got a Spider roll (deep fried soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, lettuce with special sauce on the inside, and small orange roe on the outside). The plate looked gorgeous. My boyfriend and I polished it off in no time and even ended up eating some of the garnish and the extra ends of the roll. It was so creamy, crunchy, warm and flaky. Everything a spider roll should be. He got the Ichiban roll (how very cliche you might think) but when it came out, we were both amazed. It had a seaweed salad and crab meat spicy mayo topping and the roll was stuffed with seared tuna and asparagus. It was so creamy and tasty that it didn't last long either. I'd never had asparagus in a roll before but it was soft and completely complemented the many tastes of the roll. The best part of the rolls was that nothing was overpowering, all flavors worked together to create this wonderful mixture that pleased all taste buds. All the while, the waitress was very pleasant even when we took extra time to look over the whole menu (there's so much to choose from!). My boyfriend had just finished his drink and she walked up and asked if he wanted anything else. He got a Mai Tai which was fantastically strong but delicious. Then came dessert. My boyfriend indulged in a limoncello swirled gelato. The gelato was so cold that the limoncello was more of a syrup and it was fantastic. I had the chocolate mousse which looked heavier than it was. There's a small layer of fluffy chocolate cake on the bottom and a soft white mousse layer on top. The whole thing was covered in a light chocolate layer with whipped cream and a cherry on top. It wasn't so heavy you couldn't finish the whole piece, like at most places. All in all, we had a fantastic first visit and we will definitely go back soon. The variety is something that will keep us going back. We want to try the sweetheart salad for 2 which has salmon, shrimp, crab meat, asparagus, avocado and mixed greens with a citrus ginger dressing. There is just so much to choose from and the quality of service, presentation and most of all, taste will keep us a regular for life! read more

Very rude staff! Waitress had the nerve to come over while I was filling out recipe and hover at my table until I finished. She took the tab, then looked at it and saw no tip was written due to the fact I was leaving a cash tip and she made me feel rushed. She came back over and told me that there was no tip. I got into an argument with her about how rude that was, and at that point left her absolutely no tip. Not even cash. Unless they hire a more respectful staff, I probably will not be back! I recommend going elsewhere if you're looking for good sushi and a nice dining experience. They do not inform you about their daily specials or lack thereof, so they leave you assuming that they run their sushi special every day and they do not. When you question them about anything they immediately become rude and defensive. The waitress then walked away openly bad mouthing me loudly to all of the restaurant staff. Other patrons heard her and stared. I do not recommend this place at all after that. She made the experience so uncomfortable. read more

I've been here a handful of times and have never been impressed with the food. I've tried the vegetarian maki rolls and they are pretty bland. The appetizers were not very impressive either - the spring roll was both soggy and super greasy at the same time and the thick cubes of unseasoned tofu were warmed up, but not really cooked. There are a few redeeming qualities: clean, friendly staff, value and specialty rolls (if you are a carnivore). That said, I probably won't be back until they have more interesting veggie maki rolls. read more

I've been a loyal customer to Wasabi restaurant for the past 4 or 5 years. The quality of food and service has gone downhill recently. Been given incorrect orders, incorrect receipts, wrong prices on sushi rolls , and awful service. Our waitress we have every week is always miserable. This past week was the last straw , and we will not be returning. We were given the wrong food (an honest mistake) however , we received no answer as to if the food was going to be corrected and waited for 30 minutes with our food sitting in front of us that we were instructed to not eat. We were issued no apology and they threw a new plate of sushi on the table (that looked so unappealing and messy I didn't even want to eat it) and then were ignored the rest of our visit. Unfortunately this was a restaurant we enjoyed coming to every week and I'm disappointed it's come to this point. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants but there is something missing: nice wait staff! We've always been nice, saying "thank you" and "please" with little response. Tonight we went to eat there and were placed in one of the "private" rooms and we had a party of 5, with 2 men over-sized and they tried to squeeze us into a table built for 4. It was way too tight so we asked to be moved to a larger table in the center of the restaurant and from the response we received from the staff you would think we were asking them to move the world. Delicious sushi and decently priced. Ambiance is really nice. Their take out sushi is another story. I usually get the sweet potato roll in-house and it comes warm with a yummy brown sauce. Amazing place! It's quiet which is nice and each time I've gone it hasn't been busy so we are seated right away. Each person working greets you with a smile which is hard to come by now a days! I came here during happy hour. My fiancé and I had come in to get a nice filling on sushi for a good price. If I had prior knowledge of us waiting over an hour for our food, we would have gone somewhere else. The waitress didn't even come by our table to greet us or take our drink orders for about 40 minutes. After we had ordered, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive.
