Onion Soup
Danny E.

I was in the mood for some Japanese food, so I stopped by Wasabi in Georgetown--it's a convenient spot with a nice overall decor that gives off a cozy Asian vibe, though it could use a bit of a refresh and deep clean. The service was friendly and attentive, which helped make the experience enjoyable. I ordered the hibachi steak with scallops, which came with the usual soup, salad, and fried rice. While the portion was generous, the dish leaned more toward a Chinese-style broccoli beef flavor than traditional hibachi--tasty in its own way, but not quite what I expected for Japanese. The scallops were on the smaller side (about quarter-sized and thin), and overall, the entrée felt like it might have been prepped in advance rather than cooked fresh to order. The onion soup was a simple chicken broth, which was comforting but not distinctly Japanese. Prices are a bit on the higher side for the quality and authenticity delivered. If you're craving solid Chinese takeout flavors in a sit-down setting, I'd come back for that--but I'd probably skip it if I'm specifically in the mood for Japanese cuisine. I did enjoy the fortune cookie, got a good laugh out of it.

Lunch Specials include Egg roll, fried rice, soup or salad. Plainly stated.

When a customer order a lunch special entree, don't tell them that it doesn't come with fried rice because it plainly states that all lunch specials come with egg roll, fried rice and soup or salad. Just honor the request and bring fried rice. If you don't want to include fried rice then change the menu. Major fail!

Came in to try something new, was pleasantly surprised by the new dishes. Service was amazing as always. Amber and Henry do a great job at being attentive. The lighting is great as well, not too dark or overly bright. Can't wait to return!

Calamari

Don't order the calamari appetizer. The 9.95 calamari for 5 small pieces was disheartening. The rest of our meal was par. Really disappointing. wanted it to have improved since our last visit. The service was good.

It never fails! Wasabi's sushi is always so fresh! I come here about twice a month and you can always count on the freshness. Tonight I ordered their fried veggie rolls for the first time and they are to die for! Each order comes with three egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce. The rolls came out so crispy and hot! (Be careful though because they do come out pretty hot and can burn your tongue if you bite into them to quickly). Also note their is a bit of a spicy kick to them as well so if you are adverse to any spice these may not be the rolls for you. I personally love a little spice to my food so my palate was very happy! I also ordered the Dancing Salman roll, the Philly roll as well Salman and tuna sushi. All around delightful! Additionally, the staff is very friendly, humorous and make you feel so welcomed. I have sparked up multiple conversations with members of their team and they put a smile on my face. I always leave happy and full!

This is an amazing little gem in Georgetown. I come here at least a couple times a year although I wish I came more often! The sushi is always fresh and full of flavor. If sushi is not your thing, they also have some amazing cooked dishes for those who don't share the love of raw fish. The people here are always really friendly and try really hard to keep you happy. The place is always calm and quiet so it is a good spot to chill. This is a MUST VISIT in Georgetown, especially if you like SUSHI!

We arrived early and were immediately seated and brought waters and menus. The ambiance is very nice; relatively quiet with an upscale vibe while still being casual. I had previewed the menu online and knew I was going to order the Bi Bim Bap in a hot stone bowl. My wife wanted the Sea Bass and we had 1 appetizer of salmon sashimi (4 pieces) to share along with a bottle of Reserve Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. Our server was attentive and funny. He made sure we were taken well care of. The salmon sashimi (I forgot to take a pic) was amazing. Four nice size pieces of buttery delicious salmon with just the right amount of fat lines served on a bed of shredded radish and pickled ginger. The wasabi paste was very strong, and mixed with the soy it made for a wonderful pool for our salmon to swim in before being devoured. Our entrees arrived after a bit and were masterfully presented. My Bi Bim Bap was sizzling in the bowl and was topped with a beautifully cooked over-easy egg and accompanied with a small dish of gochugaru chili paste. My wife's sea bass was a beautiful presentation of the fish along side some sautéed green beans and white rice. I was provided 2 spoons to mix my Bi Bim Bap, a nice addition as most every place I've ever ordered it I was only provided a fork. My dish was amazing. Full of crunchy veggies, slices of tender beef wonderfully seasoned, and the crunchy rice on the bottom from cooking while still in the hot stone bowl. The flavors were amazing and exactly as I had hoped. My wife's sea bass was served with a wonderful glaze and the flakiness of the fish, the glaze, and accompanying sides worked perfectly together. We didn't save room for dessert (but did finish the Chardonnay). While the prices were a little higher than I expected, we will most definitely be back again to try some of the other dishes. I just like the great service, enough checking with the staff but not too much that becomes annoying carrying you out the door. It's just right! Poke House is my new go-to for a healthy lunch or dinner... especially if I need to quickly grab…read moreand go! I visited on a whim but was so impressed by the fresh ingredient choices, customer service, and customizable bowl pricing. FAST FACTS: * Parking - located in a shopping center with a large parking lot * Online ordering - available for pickup on their website * Nutrition information - available on their website * Weekly specials - check their website or social media for updates * Rewards program - join for free and earn points to redeem for free bowls PRICING - The total was $32.45 after tax ($2.47) but before tip for 2 regular poke bowls (2 scoops of protein each). I think the pricing is reasonable for the quality of ingredients and portion size. Veggie bowl: $9.99 Small (1 scoop of protein): $12.49 Regular (2 scoops of protein): $14.99 Large (3 scoops of protein): $17.49 ORDERING - Place an order online for pick up or walk up to the counter to build your own bowl. You choose a base (white rice, brown rice, salad, half and half, seaweed wrap, or hot Cheetos wrap), pick a protein (number of scoops determines the size), choose a sauce, add as many mix-ins as you want, and then add toppings. PROTEINS - Choices include classic ahi tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, shrimp, tofu, and the weekly special. All of the proteins we tried were fresh and the scoops are about 2 ounces each. SAUCES - Choices include house, spicy house, Korean chili, soy ponzu, garlic miso, sweet ginger, sesame shoyu, and citrus. Descriptions and nutrition information for each can be found on their website. MIX-INS - Choices include corn, cilantro, crab, cucumber, edamame, jalapeños, onion, pineapple, red cabbage, scallions, and seaweed salad. Avocado is an extra $1.50 but you can choose any or all of the others listed included with the price of your bowl. TOPPINGS - Choices include chili flakes, furikake, garlic crisps, ginger, onion flakes, sesame seeds, shredded nori, tempura crisps, spicy mayo, wasabi aioli, and wasabi. You can choose any or all of the toppings included with the price of your bowl. I absolutely LOVE how customizable the bowls are! A lot of poke restaurants limit the number of toppings or charge extra for a majority of the items but this was pretty much all-inclusive. I was able to make my perfect bowl for one set price and left feeling full and satisfied! I randomly stopped here for dinner after searching on the map for a healthy and quick dinner option but it's now one of my favorite places! It can be hard to find nutrition information for a lot of restaurants so I absolutely love that they have it available online. If you love poke, it doesn't get much better than Poke House! Highly recommend!

Poke House is a really good "go to" for a great poke bowl…read more First, the staff is always patient and really helpful! That is important when there are so many options to choose from. Patrons are making a ton of choices from all of the great options and, it can be time consuming. Today, I stopped by to pick up 2 bowls. Each had VERY different ingredients and sauces. The employee was patient and very accommodating. I was reading, off my phone, the options that my sister chose. Then, giving the options that I chose for the second bowl. He didn't skip a beat. Even more frustrating for him, I think, was asking for all of the sauces on the side. He didn't seem to mind. He graciously put all of the sauces in little cups. He also labeled them with a Sharpie. Nice touch! Before I move on with the review, I'd like to offer a suggestion for the side sauces. If you are taking your order to go, the sauce containers will ultimately tip over in the bag, on the way home. Although the containers are of good quality, the sauce often leaks out. Perhaps adding a quick wrap of Saran Wrap (or the like), would aid in keeping the multiple sauce containers from tipping over in the bag, on the way home. The fish has always tasted fresh! Not once have I eaten here and complained about the quality! Sometimes we don't want to go to a sushi restaurant to get good raw fish. It's also hard to trust a poke restaurant in a strip mall. Trust me on this, Poke House does the job! I've been to this location at least a dozen times. Not once, was I disappointed in the quality and service. I'm so glad that this place is so close to me! Job well done! When you get that tip option on the screen, do what you see fit. Please consider the patience and kindness of the person building your lunch or dinner.
