My mom loves their Hawaiian sashimi salad and tempura combo. The tempura combo is a very big portion, enough to fill two people. It comes with miso soup, salad, and rice. When you order the Hawaiian salad, ask for the ginger dressing too. The dressing that it comes with is sweet and sour with a hint of yuzu, but the ginger dressing is what really gives the flavor a kick. My favorite though is their imperial sashimi, spicy girl roll and lunch maki combo where you get to mix and match rolls. My all time favorites are the spicy yellowtail jalapeno, tuna avocado, and zenzen. You can't go wrong with the bento boxes either. You get a roll, shumai, soup, salad, rice, and the entre of your choice. I got a big piece of salmon, for the salmon teriyaki bento. For sushi, their prices are on the mid range, but so are the places nearby. I've brought friends who swears they'd never eat sushi again because of a previous bad experience, and converted them to sushi lovers. read more

We used to like this place. But last week while eating there for lunch, a cockroach walked right across the table. We killed it and I asked that we be moved to another table. The waitress offered no apology and even seemed perturbed at the request, and worse- she then proceeded to put back the table settings from our old table which the roach walked on. In retrospect I wish I had made more of a scene about this all but I was disgusted. But we thought they have a "A" rating, so maybe it's an aberration. I certainly hope so, but I don't plan on returning., because the food was also pretty tasteless and not of the quality we experienced there in the past. read more

I was spoiled with great sushi having lived in Maramoneck for four years (Toyo, Red Plum, Haiku and Ginban). Although Wasabi is a block away from me, my wife and I often find ourselves traveling to Haru Hana in Irvington or Sushi Mike's in Dobbs Ferry to eat sushi. I had dinner with my parents and younger brother today at Wasabi. My sister chose out the restaurant via Groupon two months ago, but is upstate now, so she couldn't join us. For appetizers, we ordered two tempuras (shrimp with vegetables), breaded and deep fried shumai, and a sashimi starter (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail). For the entrees, we got the chef's special dragon roll, salmon avocado roll, white tuna cucumber roll, and an eel cucumber roll. For dessert, we got mango and chocolate fried ice cream. I would give the restaurant a 3/5 stars. The food didn't taste that great. The sashimi starter was good (4/5), the shrimp tempura was flavorless but also like it was saturated with oil, not much better after dipping it in the sauce. It seemed like it was going to crumble when I picked it up -- not good... (2.5/5). The shumai was tasteless as well. What happened? They're supposed to have a lot of flavor (2/5)! The entree/4 sushi rolls we ordered weren't that good but not great (3.5/5). I didn't like the fact that we ordered four entrees and they plated all of them together on one plate. We got kind of full after that. The fried ice cream was not good. Firstly, the ice cream lacked flavor. Secondly, the shell on the outside was so thick that it tasted like bread. It also didn't look good. Lastly, the ice cream was 60% melted when we got it (2.5/5). The service was okay, definitely not good, but not bad (3.5/5). The restaurant was pretty empty. The decor was alright. It was really dark in the restaurant. I've eaten at a fair share of small dark restaurants, but this one had to be the worst (3/5). If you would like to go there, you would probably have a better dining experience with just two people, instead of four, like me. It would feel more intimate. If I was there with just one person, I would probably bump up the review to 3.5~ read more

I'm really confused as to what the problem is with this place. I actually visited on a whim, the same weekend I finally discovered my new beloved sushi spot, Bozu, so on the heels of that one might say Wasabi had a lot to live up to. I made it in time for the very reasonably priced lunch special & the crunchy spicy tuna roll & the eel avocado roll were fresh, plentiful, & tasty. I was drawn back again just the next day, I was so pleased with their very attentive & quick service & delicious spicy tuna creation. On that visit I discovered that this is one of the rare restaurants in NYC that serves albacore tuna. Though it's seared & referred to on the menu as Pepper Tuna, it was immensely satisfied to indulge in that fish again. I'll be back, often, to try more. This is definitely the sleep sushi spot in the neighborhood. read more

My favorite sushi place by me thus far! We were ordering on grubhub for a while but the past couple of times we have went to order it says "restaurant closed" so we just call and place the order. FASTEST delivery service EVER. Ordered our food at 7:12 PM last night and it was here by 7:36 PM! The fish tastes good and is consistent and fresh. Which takes the anxiety out of ordering. By far the worst meal I have ever eaten in Brooklyn. The special rolls were inedible and the regular sushi rolls were mediocre in general. Ordered food at 8:25. Confirmation of 30-45 minute delivery time. At 8:45 they call and tell me they don't have one item on my order. I agree to a substitution. At 9:30 I call to find out where they hell our food is. I'm assured that it's out for delivery. At 10PM I call to cancel my order. If you're interested in overpaying for average sushi that you have to wait more than NINETY MINUTES for, then by all means, give this place a try. I will not be ordering again. read more

went here with a groupon and ordered a sushi and sashimi set, lobster roll, and spicy girl roll. the sushi was actually great - i was pleasantly surprised for the quality of sushi at an inexpensive restaurant. the rolls were delicious and the sashimi was good, especially the salmon. we got the green tea fried ice cream (decent, not great) and mango mochi (yummm) for dessert. i really liked the food especially for the price, but the experience was somewhat dampened by the service. there were only two waitresses for maybe 5 tables plus handling all the delivery/takeout orders, so it took a really long time in between courses and to get the bill, etc. oh well - the place is in a fun spot off the nassau stop in bk and i liked the food! read more

Wasabi had decent food and decor. I mainly ate here because I wanted sushi and they take credit cards. I ordered the tropical roll which has tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, mango and strawberry sauce and mango sauce. The strawberry and mango sauces were just really fruity mayonnaise, which was kind of strange. The outside of this roll wasn't seaweed, but this green tasteless paper I guess you could call it. This roll is really as close to dessert sushi as you can get. The rest of the food we got was pretty decent, just this tropical roll was a little strange for my tastes. This place is decent if you are craving sushi on Bedford though. read more

The quality of the fish here has has been declining over the years. The "white tuna" is actually Escolar. Not a fan.

We just moved to Brooklyn and we were looking for a sushi place. We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and decided to go it. We sat at the bar and Robbie was our chef. He was great - very friendly! We placed our order, but since he knew we were new to the area, he prepared a special salad as a starter and after our meal he treated us to a special Yucca dessert. Customer service and friendliness goes a long way. Wasabi and Robbie won our loyalty and we'll keep going back. read more
