The 1 star is based on service provided by the call center AND in-stor customer service. Needing replacement glasses delivered with urgency in mind, I googled and called various eye wear providers. Optimistically, I called Warby Parker. Because my prescription is an unusual fit, I prefer to call ahead to discuss if the business can help me rather than going in-store first, just to be told 'no'. During business hours on a Saturday early evening, I called the Berkeley Store at their website posted phone number 510.584.3732. The male representative was seemingly helpful with answers to such questions as: 1. My prescription expired five days ago, my other glasses have been sent in for repair, my doctor is not available, can you fill my prescription? Answer: Yes. Come in and request a prescription check. Bring in your expired prescription for glasses and an on-site doctor will check you. If they determine that the expired prescription is still good for you, they will fill your prescription. 2. My prescription is hard to fit: -10.75 and -7.75, progressive lenses. Can you fill that prescription? Answer: Sure. No problem. 3. Ok, great. May I confirm the doctor will be onsite at the 4th Street Store in Berkeley tomorrow (Sunday)? Answer: A doctor will be on site. No need to confirm. 4. I called the 4th St., Berkeley phone number. Are you there now? Answer: No. I'm at a call center. 5. So how best to confirm doctor will be onsite tomorrow? Answer: Well, I guess you could leave a message, I will forward it to them and they might call you back. 6. They might? Standard protocol is for customers to only interact with local store if they go in? Not through the posted local phone number? Answer: It's best to go in. They use a call center for all inbound calls. 7. Ok. What's the turn around time to fill an eyeglass order? Answer: 7-10 days but if you place an order before closing tomorrow, you're guaranteed your glasses will be available by Friday, December 22 (in five days). So I left a message for the Berkeley Store. No one called me. Sunday, the next day, I went to the Berkeley Store shortly after the 11am opening. The store was busy and yet an employee approached me quickly. There was no onsite doctor. There was no way for me to order glasses with an expired prescription. I HAD to have an old pair of glasses with me for employee to do a prescription check. There was no promotion in place that guarantees glasses by the 22nd if order placed today, the 17th. So the scenario I discussed with someone from the local store number's redirected phone number to a call center could not be handled successfully by the Fourth St Berkeley Store. Complete waste of time. Their call center and in-store answers do NOT match. Poor management to allow both call center and in-store employees to not be better trained and held accountable to answer customer questions accurately. The in-store employee that I talked to was very helpful and friendly even though she couldn't help me and she wasn't aware of any promotion guaranteeing glasses delivered by the 22nd. She also made no attempt to confirm with floor manager to make sure that she had accurate answers to my questions. After all, it was possible that she simply wasn't aware of an online promotion. Since it's the end of the year and normally a time when stores offer many types of promotions to encourage customers to 'buy now', it was disappointing to not see any interest or willingness of the employee to confirm any of the answers that the call center told me. Perhaps the Fourth St. Store has SO much business that they're willing to let a minimum $500 sale walk away. I actually intended on buying two pair of glasses today. Wow. It will be interesting to see if management acknowledges this post or attempts to make amends. read more

I've never needed prescription glasses before until recently.. I have put off the process of purchasing glasses for a month because I know how indecisive I am and how unwilling I was to get glasses. I just didn't want them to look bad on me and didn't knew where to go to get them since there's a variety of glasses stores everywhere. My sister recommended Warby Parker to me because she had a really great experience with them and they were also inexpensive with great quality. I was immediately greeted by a man when I walked in who was very helpful and welcoming! The whole experience was lovely and they had a lot of different cute styles and shapes. Also I LOVE how when you purchase a pair, a pair gets donated to a person who can't afford glasses. Can't wait to pick up my glasses in a couple weeks!!! read more

Such an easy/breezy experience!! The frame designs at Warby Parker are on the same level of designer frames, if not higher! But the difference is THEY ARE AFFORDABLE! I was in the area and decided to pop in just to browse. I was in the market for new glasses and found ones I liked. I had a current prescription and opted to not go through insurance (but you can if you wish) because the frames were so affordable! I got fitted right there, paid, and 5 business days later went in to pick up my new specs. Soooo simple and easy! The staff and sales people are very helpful and friendly. No pressure or side eyes for just going in and trying on frames. I have gotten lots of compliments on my new frames and will definitely be returning to WP for my new set of eyes! read more

The frames here are trendy and there's a wide variety, so you're sure to finding something to your liking. I've been here twice, once for an exchange and a second time to get my new glasses fitted for my face. Overall great experience both times! Yes there are cheaper options for ordering frames online but the selling point for Warby Parker is their in person customer service. The staff at this particular location are all rather happy and seem genuine in their desire to assist you. The optician Xavier helped fit my glasses and he was very helpful and easy to talk to. My entire family buys our glasses from Warby Parker. I came in to the Berkeley store today to have mine adjusted as they felt loose. I cannot say enough good things about the optician, Mark who did my adjustment. He clearly has a lot of technical knowledge about how glasses should fit and the best ways to alter them and he took his time adjusting mine until they were just perfect. I came in the store with a frame that I had wear and tear from oxidation and the coating was coming off. I just bought a spare pair of distance glasses at the 4th St. store. The total cost was $95, no tax, for single vision lenses including polycarbonate, non-reflective coating, scratch resistance and u/v protection. I brought in a prescription from my optometrist (not Warby Parker). The prescription was done perfectly. The quality of the frames and lenses is excellent. They have a good selection of styles. It's clearly the way to get a good, inexpensive pair of back-up glasses for travel. I think that the quality is good enough to be one's primary pair also. I had a pair of $750 glasses that fell of while trying to control my luggage on an escalator. They were crushed at the bottom, and I didn't have a spare pair. Luckily, I was headed home and not starting my trip. The store is brand new, bright and cheerful. The salesperson was very helpful. He helped me choose a frame and adjusted it when I came back to pick up the glasses. I asked him how they can price the glasses so low. Warby-Parker manufactures their own glasses and does not depend on middlemen. I've bought glasses for $750 at high end opticians. Drop them, and there goes a small fortune. Warby will replace scratched lenses for free for a year. The high end places have a wider selection of styles, but at a much higher price point. You can check Warby-Parker styles on their website and see if they appeal to you. If they do, it's a great deal. read more

My partner and I have been Warby Parker fans for years and this location is by far the best one. Excellent customer service from start to finish. We visited this weekend to get 2 pairs of glasses adjusted. I had gone to the Hayes Valley location and had a mediocre experience with the optical tech. I just received 2 brand new pairs that I had ordered online and brought them in to be adjusted. The tech didn't do a great job and I decided to visit the Berkeley location. Liz is amazing and really deserves a huge shout-out. She had helped us pre-COVID and helped us again today. Despite the new guidelines to keep everyone safe, I still felt well-cared for. I left today with 2 glasses that actually fit me. 5/5 for sure. read more

I did a lot of research looking for glasses as I was going from never wearing glasses to needing readers and now I'm going to progressive's. Unfortunately I went and got my eyes examined somewhere else, but they do have doctors here they can give you an eye exam. I would recommend doing this if you have the extra money but they don't take insurance. So I received my progressives here and I got great customer service. At the glasses were slipping a little bit after a couple months giving me headaches and the glasses got damaged a little bit. I was playing roughly with my dog. So I had to go back in to get them adjusted after a couple months to be honest I was kind of irritated but considering what they went through they held up pretty well and they were able to fix it in a few minutes and adjusted my glasses so they wouldn't slip anymore I am a 100% happy with them now. I'm going to bring my son with down syndrome back to get glasses as well. The customer service here is stellar is a very clean location. Everybody is so professional lots of glasses they got a lot of new glasses in a lot of options. You could buy their stuff online but I really recommend coming in and looking at the frames on your faces so you could see All that options in the store much more than the 5 frames. read more

This store makes getting glasses really easy. But my experience today was super frustrating. I received a new pair of glasses this week which was great as it arrived quickly, but we were actually sent two pairs (one of which was different frames etc and obviously not meant for us). To be a Good Samaritan, I drove to the store this AM to return/let them know about the extra pair. I didn't realize the store doesn't open until 11am so I went and did a few errands on the street to pass some time. I returned to the store at 10:50 when there were clearly several employees inside preparing to open. I have an appointment to get to and couldn't take any more time waiting for the store to open. I knocked on the door at 10:50am hoping to just hand them the glasses and be gone. There were 3-4 staff in the store that wouldn't even come to the door to find out why I was there. One person made eye contact and made some hand signal to come back, the others just completely ignored me. I realize they still had 10 mins to opening, but I had a box in my hand and you figure they could at least crack the door open to ask why a customer was waiting "with interest". It would have been a 10 second conversation. So I left the glasses on the sidewalk outside. The experience was riddiculous and frustrating when I was just trying to be helpful and honest...and spent time Out of my day on their mistake. Another amazing experience with the fourth street Warby Parker! I cannot say enough good things about this company and the folks who work here. I was in a car accident this weekend, and to add insult to injury I snapped my glasses in half afterward. I came here with broken glasses in hand expecting to purchase another pair. However the Optician on duty popped my lenses in a new pair of frames on the spot! I ended up purchasing a second pair so I have a back up, on which they gave me a discount! I will never buy glasses from another company again. Warby Parker has made it so that having two pairs of glasses is a real possibility instead of a dream that costs $600. I'm very dissapppointed and dissatisfied with Warby Parker's service. And I never received the product ! I purchased some expensive prescription glasses for $420.00 and paid for express delivery. When I arrived after being notified over the phone that the glasses were at the store and ready for pick up; I was shocked when the opticians told me that they were not there yet. After a couple more days passed I was told when the glasses finally arrived they were returned because there was an imperfection. However, I was not sent any notification of this. I found out because I called again to see when I could come to the store and get them. I decided to give them another chance to get the glasses. More days passed by then I noticed a refund to my credit card. I wondered did this mean they cancelled my order without notifying me. So again I contacted their customer service asked for a manager and I was told I'd receive a call back. A day or two later I received an email stating that my glasses were returned due to an imperfection and I would receive notification when they were ready for pick up. The date was now 3-27-2023. The manager then wrote I should expect them probably by 3-5-2023. I kid you not this is the date typed on this email. Which was obviously a date before I even made the purchase. Well now it's 4-7-2023 and I still have not received my glasses or a notice of when they will finally be ready. BUYER BEWARE IT MAY BE A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY TO BUY FROM WARBY PARKER ! read more

LISTEN. I accidentally stepped on my glasses after arguing with a woman that I really liked on but have now confirmed doesn't have a reciprocal "like" for me and was very emotional. I couldn't see and I was having a rough week. Highkey, a terrible week. I even tried super gluing my glasses back together with some glue from a grocery store and made it worse. So I slumped into Warby Parker, hoping to find a pair of frames to perfectly fit my face just as my Raybans did. Well....I wasn't disappointed! I was helped by several employees in the store who really took their time to help me find the best glasses for me, even though I'm incredibly dramatic and spent nearly 15 minutes taking selfies and posting various frames on my Instagram story to get immediate feedback. The face is an important thing, you have to take your time. One of the staff even helped me find the perfect lighting and removed the lenses to avoid glare so I could take these selfies so it would best show off the color of the frame contrasting against my face. Spectactular service, I mean, really and truly. I ended up ordering my pair and I shared how I basically didn't have functional glasses - *insert rapid typing of Warby Parker staff* - I received my new prescription glasses in 1 business day. So not the experience I have ever had in a frames store -- and thank heck for that! 1. Just the right size store: I'm a person easily overwhelmed by options. Being there for glasses, not sunglasses, that eliminated half the store already. I only had one wall to conquer, and was in/out before the hour was up. 2. Because they're not carrying expensive name-brand stuff (if you're looking for Ray Bans you gotta go to the fancy store, my friend) it's easier to home in on what you like/don't like. The frames all feel like they're part of the same genre. 3. My frames' price tag said $95 bucks and the tag didn't lie. I was sort of expecting small, incidental expenses to start piling on. (Oh, you don't want your frames to be super reflective/shiny? We recommend you get this expensive kind of glass that's $100 more. Oh, your face is shaped way weird. We're gonna have to use this special doodad to reshape your frames for an extra $50.) But nope. No hidden costs, and no, like, made-up add-ons. I paid $130 and that was because I needed my frames shipped to another state. 4. Pretty darn reasonable sales policy: You can try out the frames for 30 days and bring them back if you don't like them. 5. Four stars instead of 5: The folks working in this store were really helpful/available/friendly to me, but I felt a little swarmed. There wasn't just one person trying to help. There were 3. I kind of just wanted to look at frames in peace, make some initial decisions, and then ask for help. If you're like me and you need to go into your own little hole when you're shopping to make it a bearable experience, you might just say gently to the first salesperson who approaches you, "Hey! Can you give me 15 minutes to just scope the place out? I'd like to digest things first on my own." I'm sure they'll be happy to let you be. I should have done this. read more

My son told me about WP and I had never heard about them before. I googled them and decided to drive to Berkeley to check it out after my eye exam. I was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff and the store is very nice. I downloaded the app to my iPhone before I went in so, ordering glasses became a breeze. I also ordered glasses for my 14yo daughter today. No issues and my glasses arrived by USPS in 6 days. Love the frames and prescription is awesome. Had many compliments after wearing them in public. These $95 glasses are as good as those that cost me 3X as much at the optometrist. The frames are not quite as light as the high-end euro designs, but they are still quite good. Staff was friendly, fast, competent, and cared about getting the prescription right. Go here for your backup glasses, if not your first pair. read more

Not a good place to get a progressives prescription filled. And don't try to take your overpriced ($400+) progressives back after 30 days. "We could try to fix them but it wouldn't help", does not help. I recommend Costco for half the price, at least they try to make them right if there is a mistake! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I ordered prescription glasses at this shop on March 9th, before the SIP. They were supposed to be ready for pickup by the 23rd. But of course everything shut down by then. I contacted them on the 17th and they said the glasses should be ready by the 27th. Long story short, I contacted them a total of 6 times and I still do not have the glasses nor do they even have any idea what stage of the production or shipping process they are in. Whaaat?? (Oh btw they charged me the full purchase price the day I ordered them) I get that household products and even "non-essential" Amazon goods are experiencing shipping delays but apparently WP's lab hasn't updated any info on IF the glasses have even been produced. Despite the fact that the website and CEO emails assure customers that they're still shipping product. The original reason I chose WP was cos of their advertised $95/pair (fine print: "STARTING at..."). If you're just buying non-prescription sunglasses you might be able to get them at that price (or go to Ross and get them for $10. just sayin) but if you have a prescription (like 99% of Warby customers) they'll be more than double that price. At that price point I might as well have gone to LensCrafters and I'd probably have my glasses in hand by now. All the sales & customer service people I've dealt with were super nice, but 2 said they'd follow up with me but never did. I'll never shop here again. You'd think they'd value whatever business they have these days. read more

Stopped by the store just to have a look found a pair I liked so ordered them, I didn't have my prescription with me so they said e-mail it to them. The next day I called them to just give them the numbers they said they could not take them over the phone so she told me where to send it. Two weeks later having not herd anything I called after a twenty minute wait finally go thru and was told they were still waiting for my prescription I asked if maybe someone might have called a asked what was upthey had my money that is probably all they cared about. They asked how to make it right in a reply to my post but I had already went to Costco half the price and none of the hassle. read more

I decided to go to Warby Parker because I have quite a few friends who really loves their frames so I wanted to give it a shot. This was my second time in one of their stores and I was just having such a hard time finding a frame that I liked that fit my face well. Evelyn helped me out from the beginning and she was very honest if there was something she was not 100% sure of. She grabbed tons of different frames for me to try and asked me about my preferences and what shape and style I was trying to go with. She did all this while working with what my lens would be like because yo girl here has very poor vision and I then have coke bottle lenses. I was really set on this one frame called the Yardley but they wouldn't have worked perfect because of my bridge and lenses and other things. Evelyn had Mia come over to help me out and Mia asked about my top 2 choices of frames and then came back with a perfect in between mix! I loved the frame and it is this really cool greyish color which is very different from anything In quite some time. They worked really hard to make sure I found the perfect frames and was very happy with them. They did a few measurements here and there and marked exactly where my eyes hit in the lenses to make sure that the center focal point is correct too! At the end of it all frames and also getting the ultra high index (thinning our that coke bottle frame) everything came out to be only $225! The damn frames alone cost that a few years ago! I am so happy with the pricing and the service. I may just come back to get myself a second set of glasses! read more
