Stopped in Wednesday to check it out and try a burger on their BOGO special night. I was surprised…read moreupon entering at 4:00 on a Wednesday to only see one table of two and three patrons at the bar. Alright, this is my speed, not too busy....yet... I also opted for their Happy Hour special of Buy 2 draft beers get one free. I didn't ask before starting to drink.... if I have someone joining me, can we split the drinks? On my second beer bartender Austin produced like a poker chip for the free beer, stating I could use it today or another time. When my guest arrived we were discussing the chip... me "where did I put it?" Them "back in your purse" ...no, no I did not! When Austin came around I asked if he had taken the chip? He said he had, to use for my friends beer. Cleared that up and was met with: no they're on their own, I will use that token, ha. But good to know you can essentially split them and I should have! The tap beer options aren't overwhelming and aren't sparse as I was able to opt for three separate craft breweries. For the burgers; I opted for the Wildfire and them for the Bacon Cheeseburger. When I adjusted mine for no pickles, onions or jalapenos, Austin replied: so just a cheeseburger then? I responded: no, because it also has the special sauce. My friend opted for a side of coleslaw.... which was just coleslaw, nothing special. I opted for fries, they were good. The three included w the price side options are: fries, kettle chips & coleslaw. Parking was easy w their private lot. I really liked the digs and they weren't too loud. I was a little put of when I began chatting up the traveler next to me when she said she was told she couldn't be seated at a table as she was a solo guest. I don't agree w that, especially when it wasn't busy yet....Thanks Crossroads for a delicious burger, cheers!

I've always liked the Sparta side of Fort McCoy better than Tomah, as it just seems more like an individual small town versus a big-box thoroughfare. What a wonderful recommendation, I had a fantastic visit. My co-worker can second the old fashioneds! Staff was super friendly and service was attentive. Clearly there are locals and regulars coming in that know each other by name, but being out-of-towners we were still treated the same and welcomed. We sat at the bar (always my preference), but there is plenty of restaurant seating if you come here with a group or with your family. They have a decent beer selection on tap, and the menu can cover pretty much all appetites. I ordered the veggie burger, which was somewhat generic but nevertheless tasty and I ate the whole thing. Overall, I'd say the food here is good - maybe nothing crazy unique, but good, especially with the somewhat limited options in the area if you want to stay away from chains and fast food. I will absolutely be back for another dinner and continue to try out options on the menu. I'd really love to do the fish fry if I'm ever here on a Friday night. But, who needs dinner when you have dessert?! OMG I'd seen some photos of their desserts online, and even though I'm not usually a dessert person, these photos drove me here that night! Wow. The Brandy Alexander is absolutely incredible. It's large but my co-worker and I each ordered our own (and finished it completely). Anyone can make a Brandy Alexander you sip from a cup... but this was like a soft serve goblet of ice cream with the booze mixed in throughout. The BEST. I will be back here every time I'm in the area just for this (and then good food and beer is always a nice add-on).

Dinner was really good overall and good wine list and service. Soups and salad all came out with the meals and the salad is massive! Breakfast service was a bit uneven, but food came out fast and was very good. Love that they have reasonably priced breakfast options. I got the Dynamite Chicken Sandwich. It was good, but I expected more of a blast of flavor. My wife got the Cranberry Pork chop and said it was amazing! Great Brussels Sprouts on the side. Her side salad was huge and very fresh. My daughter got the Bourbon Salmon and loved it as well. Her side was Wild Rice Soup that was also amazing. For breakfast my wife and I both got 2 eggs and toast. They were very good. They do drown the toast in butter. So be ready for that! Overall we had good experiences and would gladly go back.
