Came here for the first time for a relatives birthday. It is such a hole in the wall I can't believe I've never been here! The food was very well priced - ~$17.00 per person and includes soup of the day, rice, wonton and shrimp + an entree. I couldn't even finish my entree because of how big it was. The food was delicious and came out in quick time. At one point we did have to remind the owner that we were missing some egg rolls/wontons but I think it's because we had such a big party. I would definitely stop by here if you're looking for great Chinese food.

Your favorite Yelp correspondent loves it when he can add a new, well-run Chinese restaurant to his roster of "go to" staples- a list that includes Red Lantern in Glendora, Happy Kitchen in Chino Hills and, if I'm ensconced near Newport Beach, Mandarin King. My friends and fellow Yelpers- ADD Walnut Tree Restaurant to the list! Walnut's original Chinese restaurant planted its roots in 1979, when Disco was ebbing, Jimmy Carter sat in the Oval Office and gasoline had surged to $0.86/g in the wake of the Iranian hostage crisis. Forty six years and three family generations later, the folks who run Walnut Tree are still delivering fresh, tasty Chinese cuisine at affordable prices. I arrived at 2:57pm, scarcely in time to score their nifty lunch special- (lunch-portioned) entree plus your choice of rice, accompanied by soup, egg rolls + tempura shrimp...all for $12.95 ($2 less if you go with lo mein instead of rice). The egg flower soup was good, though I'm sure the stink eye stare I got from an elderly guest seated across from me was because I'd violated his sense of dining propriety by dousing my soup with soy sauce! The egg roll was piping hot with a pleasant crunchy exterior- ditto for the shrimp. The kung pao chicken was serviceably good, not the "Ivy League" of Kung pao dishes I've enjoyed through the years but did the job. The fried rice was, however, a wee bland. Served with no slivered scallions, fried egg or proteins. You can upgrade to its beefier cousin, but with the lunch special you get the basic version. My server Kloe was pleasant and her service was lightning-quick! No sooner had I consumed three spoonfuls of my soup and she'd materialized with my entree! She also kept my diet coke replenished. The Walnut Tree Restaurant is cozy but clean. My bill was $17, incl soup/appy/entree, a drink, taxes and tip. Bravo!!! Can't wait to bring my family back.

All the food here is so good, but when I'm sick I run to go get their wonton soup. It's so so good, wontons, bok choy, water chestnuts, baby corn, bamboo, bbq pork AND fried shrimp? OMG it's phenomenal. Don't wait to be sick though, it's so good on a rainy soup day, or just when you want something cozy and comforting.

Small whole in the wall. Good food. The orange chicken was the best. Dark meat. Not too sweet. Sweet n sour had white meat. So it was kinda dry. Mongolian beef very chewy and kind of sweet. Has a lot of onions. Good portions though.

    Cream-Cream Cheese Fried Wontonscheese

Food: Cream cheese wontons were so crispy! Mild flavor for the filling but the sauce was sweet. Service: Very sweet and kind server! Overall: I would stop by to try other items and get the cream-cheese wontons

This place is so good! I cannot believe I haven't heard of it. Do not pass on the sweat and sour chicken. The shrimp fried rice is so good and not stingy with the shrimp. Amazing!

We got the beef noodle soup, beef tendon soup, seaweed salad, pan-fried pork buns, and pork soup dumplings. The soups were rich and comforting, with tender meat and flavorful broth. The beef tendon was especially soft and well-cooked. The pan-fried pork buns had a nice crispy bottom with juicy filling inside, and the soup dumplings were solid as always. Seaweed salad was a nice lighter side to balance everything out. Overall, super satisfying meal and consistently good quality. Definitely one of our go-to spots for noodles and dumplings.

Absolutely TERRIBLE experience. Do not waste your time or money here…read more The moment we walked into Fu's Restaurant, it felt like stepping into a sauna. It was 79 degrees inside, muggy, humid, and completely uncomfortable. We almost turned around and left immediately. The place was practically empty, which honestly should have been our first red flag. We decided to give them a chance anyway. Big mistake. My colleague and I were offered water or hot tea. We both ordered hot tea. The menu clearly says in English that hot tea is $2.99. Nowhere does it clearly explain in English that you will be charged differently depending on how many people drink it. When the bill came, we were charged $5 each. Apparently, there is some clarification written in Chinese, but how are customers who do not read Chinese supposed to know that? That is completely misleading. The tea portions were not larger, not special, nothing different. Just basic tea. The pricing felt deceptive. We also ordered popcorn chicken and chili wonton soup. Both came out in tiny portions that looked like appetizers, yet the menu does not clearly label them as such. For what we received, paying over $30 total felt ridiculous. The food itself was mediocre at best. Nothing memorable and definitely not worth the price. Because of the uncomfortable temperature, confusing pricing, small portions, and average food, we chose not to leave a tip. As we were walking out, the waiter chased us outside and pressured us about the zero tip. That is completely inappropriate. Tipping is not mandatory. It is earned. Confronting customers outside over a tip is unprofessional and embarrassing. Between the heat, the questionable menu pricing, the small portions, and being confronted outside, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. We will never be back. There are plenty of better places within the same plaza than to dine here. I don't expect this place to last long anyway.
