I made an online order for duck curry with rice to go from this restaurant and requested medium spicy. The spice was certainly there, but I think next time I will request spicier for any curry dishes. This dish was very good. Quick and fast service. I really wish they could get more customers visiting and trying out the food.

I got the dinner combo for $16 which came with your choice of appetizer and entree, rice, salad. I chose a single egg roll for my appetizer, which was unfortunately a little soggy by the time I ate it, and the drunken noodle with beef which was really good. I wish there was more beef, but the vegetables were very crisp and crunchy which I enjoy. I thought it'd be more spicy considering I got it with medium spice but it wasn't very spicy. That's my cue to go a level higher next time! I ordered the combo but next time I think I'll order the entree itself because I didn't really need the rice. It's more effective for curry but it was too many carbs for me. I ordered it through the phone and it was ready in 15 minutes.

Not sure if they changed ownership but they have redecorated the interior. Looks more modern and fresh. Service is still good. The previous owners were super friendly and hope they are doing well. Menu has changed a bit with meal combos for lunch and now dinner. We ordered Panang curry with tofu, green curry with chicken, and beef pad see ew. Combos also came with an appetizer (egg roll, dumpling, etc), and soup & salad. Food came nicely in a bento box and was tasty. Glad to have a good Thai food place in the neighborhood.

    Owner's original reply

I ordered Kapow pork over rice, and it was tasteless. The egg cost an additional $2, which I haven't experienced at other Thai restaurants. Based on the owner's reply, are they seriously saying that because the dish is part of a promotion, the egg--normally included--is being removed? Their own menu photo clearly shows that Kapow Pork comes with an egg.

Such a good place by Mt. SAC! They have a great lunch special where you can choose from multiple entrees & it comes with soup, salad, & wontons. I definitely want to try their other meals & want to come back.

I think ownership has changed - maybe younger family members taking over? The food is still delicious and there's a good variety of items from which to choose. The biggest difference I see is that the food is served in a "bento box" style. It's not a problem except that it's a little trickier to get all the sauce if you order curry. They've also updated the decor a bit so that it's a little brighter and warmer. Still a good place for Thai food. :)

i was craving Thai food again, second visit in a week. Last time i had Tom Yum but i really liked beef salad so i called ahead of time so when i arrived Lynn remembered me and already had the dish out ready for me so i didn't have to wait at all for my food which was really nice. Since I didn't have much time to waste. Thanks Lynn for being so awesome. also gotta give credit to the cooks in the back

Came here for the first time and loved it! Tried their drunken noodle and pad Thai and both were great! Good portion as well for the lunch special at a very reasonable price! Very close to Mt sac if you are going to school there! The lunch special also comes with a small bowl of soup that in my opinion would go very well with the rice, but it does come out before rice so if I were you I would wait for everything to arrive before starting to eat! 10/10 service 10/10 taste

Under somewhat new ownership. New, slick, updated menus, including lunch specials (see my pics). Service was very good, and the food came out of the kitchen quickly. The complimentary cabbage soup recipe has changed from a chicken broth to a tomato broth with lots of flavor. The lunch special salad now comes on the plate with your entrée, rather than being served on a separate plate along with the soup. For lunch entrées, we tried the Drunken Noodle with Shrimp ($14.95) which was full of flavor...excellent! My wife had the Vegetable Delight with Chicken ($13.95) which she thought needed a little more seasoning, so she added quite a bit of hot sauce. Portion sizes are generous and soda refills are free. They were out of Thai Iced Tea on our visit, so that was a slight disappointment. Overall, a good experience. If you're looking for a "FAST" meal, this is the place for you.

After so many years, we're back and tried this place again. Especially now it's become my kid lunch hangout. They have reasonable lunch special starting from $12.95-$13.95. Tasty and good portion. Lunch special come with crispy wonton and sour cabbage soup. Instead of full portion, they come with smaller portion and add rice. Double carb for some menu such as Pad See Ew and Pad Thai. So far all our orders have good portion and tasty. Service depend on the crowd. During lunch time, might be slower. We only see 1 waiter and 1 chef cooking. Overall, another good option for Thai food in Walnut. Support local businesses.

Baby Elephant Thai Cuisine is honestly saving my life right now. I've been on a very limited healing diet for months, and eating out has been almost impossible. This place is one of the only restaurants where I can eat without getting sick or anxious about ingredients. Their food is fresh, clean, and made with so much care that my body can actually tolerate it -- which says a lot. The yellow curry with shrimp has become my go-to comfort meal. It's mild, nourishing, and packed with veggies I can digest. The broth is soothing and feels like real food, not heavy restaurant stuff. Every time I eat here, I feel supported in my healing instead of set back. The service is kind, patient, and understanding when I ask about ingredients or make small adjustments. That means the world when you're navigating sensitive digestion and trying to keep your body calm. The ambiance is cozy, but honestly it's the food itself that keeps bringing me back. When your stomach is recovering, finding a place you trust is everything -- and Baby Elephant Thai has become that for me. Thank you for making food that helps me heal. You have no idea how rare that is.

Wow, updated review since its been quite a few years. Service here was amazing. We came here for a late lunch a few days ago & was very happy that we did. The chicken pad thai is so good, the shrimp garlic fried rice is probably one of my favorites. tons of garlic and just a lot of flavor. the seafood soup was so packed with flavor and was really nice since it was a breezy day outside. Definitely going to be a staple since its so close to us.

Popped in for lunch and had a delightful meal! The service was friendly, everything was fast, and the food tasty. We ordered lunch specials, which came with a soup that I quite enjoyed, and was pleasantly surprised that the noodles also came with rice. Good value!

You can expect a bustling and vibrant ambience during this time. We got several dishes: drunken noodles, pad see ew, house fried rice, and yellow pumpkin curry. Each dish came with our choice of protein; the options without an extra cost were chicken, pork, tofu, and vegetables. Our server was friendly, and the other staff made sure we had our waters refilled. Along with great service, I enjoyed the food again. The drunken noodles were flavorful and not too spicy. Mixing the house fried rice with the yellow pumpkin curry was really delicious. You get a great blend of savory and sweet flavors. Portions are large, so we took leftovers home.

Highly recommend this. Chicken Satay: This is our other favorite dishes. The chicken is tender and well seasoned. This is a great alternative for their popular crying tiger in terms of the portion and pricing. Papaya Salad: I was a bit disappointed with this. The papaya salad is lack of flavoring (specifically the garlic taste). It's not very marinated. Tom Yum Soup: We got a small bowl of the seafood tom yum soup. The portion is great for 2 people, but don't expect too much seafood from it. The flavor is good, so it's still a great soup option. Non-Sweet Sticky Rice: Unlike other places, their sticky rice is served as a dessert, you can still taste the coconut flavor. Most other traditional Thai places serve sticky rice as unsweetened and plain (i.e., jasmine rice soaked overnight). Not really mad about this. The service was absolutely amazing. We made a reservation ahead of time to avoid waiting in line. I'm glad we did because there were already people waiting when we arrived at 6pm. The restaurant is very clean and cozy. Overall, Basil & co. is a great Thai restaurant option in town, but I wouldn't say it is the BEST Thai restaurant I ever had.

We got southern curry noodles, flaming drunken noodle at extra spicy, and Che Po. The curry noodles were good we got the flat noodles. Though my wife likes it more savory I like it more coconutty. The che po was okay, the rice was steeped in the sauce which was too much for my wife and some of the pork belly pieces were tough. The bbq pork and the duck was good though. Authentic Thai and Chinese fusion taste. The star of the show was the flaming drunken noodle. It's probably one of the best drunken noodles we've had. At extra spicy, it definitely brought the flame and the foavor in a big way. The portions and prices were great. We had to togo the drunken noodle and it got even better after we reheated it. -service was very friendly and quick -the restaurant is a good size, great for large parties. Negatives: None 5/5 overall We will definitely be back, we already have our eye on trying the pad Thai and the tom yum noodles. My wife wants to bring the spice down, but i want the smoke I want that extra spicy level again lol

Has this place gone through new ownership?…read more I used to frequent Tantawan Thai Cuisine at least once a week -- it was my go to Thai spots because it's nearby. I would always order the Thai boat noodles, Pad Kee Mao, or Pad Thai, and they were consistently flavorful, bold, and satisfying every time. These three dishes were on constant rotation. Lately though, something feels very different. The flavor and overall taste of the dishes have noticeably changed. The Thai boat noodles no longer have that rich, deep broth, the pad kee mao isn't as smoky and punchy, and the pad thai tastes flatter and not as saucey than it used to. The food just doesn't hit the same. On top of that, the employees were clearly new. Service has been noticeably slower, and they repeatedly ask the same questions multiple times when I phone in my order. I've always mentioned that I don't want liver in my Thai boat noodles and that I like my pad thai spicy -- and before, that was never an issue or a back and forth conversation. Now, I'm asked the same clarifying questions over and over, and I'm even told that they "don't make pad thai spicy," which was never the case before. It's honestly disappointing because this used to be such a reliable weekly staple for me. I'm not sure if there's been a change in ownership, staff, or recipes, but the consistency in both food and service just isn't there anymore. I really hope they can bring back the quality and experience that made me a regular in the first place.

Comfortable & easy. I did notice they still had Christmas decor up when I went, even though it was already February. Not sure if it's part of their everyday aesthetic or just lingering holiday spirit, but either way it was super cute, especially at night. Service was warm from the start. Both the host & server checked in just enough & repeated my order back for accuracy, which is always appreciated. I came in craving Thai flavors but wasn't exactly sure what I wanted yet. If you're into Thai fusion or noodle spots with a diverse menu, this place gives you a lot to work with. After looking through a well-assorted menu, I landed on the Chili & Basil Chicken Egg Rolls to start & the Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta for my entrée. I noticed signage mentioning Channel 7 calling their chili & basil chicken egg rolls the best, so of course I had to try them. It wasn't just the recommendation, but the intrigue of basil chicken inside an egg roll that sold me. They came out crispy, packed with deep basil flavor, & had a great filling-to-wrapper ratio. Now for the star of the show. The Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta wasn't what I expected to order, but it ended up being exactly what I needed. The flavor was rich, creamy, lightly sweet, & paired perfectly with well-sized shrimp. I've been on a skinny noodle kick lately, so I went with the glass noodles. They do offer other noodle options too, which is great if glass noodles aren't your thing. Portion size is generous, easily shareable between two. That said, I was more than happy to keep it to myself & enjoy the leftovers. Definitely a solid spot if you're in the Long Beach or OC area looking for flavorful Thai-inspired noodles. Dean by Dean Noodles is definitely a must-try if you're in the area. Thank you for the amazing food & great service!
