Always a good choice to come here for last minute needs. It is seldom to not be able to find something I need. The store layout and item availability is well reflected on the app. Some sections can be messy at times but the employees do a good enough job from my perspective. Definitely a bigger sized store compared to others. It's a supercenter for a reason. The in-store subway is a nice bonus. It always smells good there. I agree with other people's assessment of the parking situation. There is a lot of people coming in from Lake-Cook road and navigating can become a chore on busy days. The inside has been adjusted and reset over the last few years and I feel they have improved space and flow of foot traffic. My only true point of contention is the self checkout machines. I have had many occasions where I have to keep my hand on my card so it can read it properly. It's not fun when an employee has come help me out with simple task of completing a transaction. I do use the app a bit more and it's nice to be able to use the qr code to connect to my account to pay. I have held out hope that they will have apple pay at some point, but they have yet to do so. As it is the closest place to get groceries, this store is a convenient location. However, I will continue to have a preference for Target across the street. read more

I came here to get a few items and was in the store for literally less than 20 minutes. It was a full parking lot so after I checked-out, I head to my car. Some losers/weirdos had thrown food on it. It was in my door handle and on my driver's side windshield. It creeped me out because I felt watched since I was only away from my car for a short amount of time. I go to customer service and ask if the cameras captured what happened - the attendant told me, "I don't know, fill out a police report". She said the same answer when I asked if she could tell me if my car was even on camera or not for the ordeal. I get there a processes in place but you can't tell me whether or not my car vandalism was captured on camera? The staff was not helpful - I will not be returning. read more

I just want to call to your attention about your staff. First you need to replace the card readers in the self check out counters. I always have a issue with card error when I put my debit card in to pay. There is no issue with the cashier checkouts card readers. I had a employee bluntly ask me if I was sure that money was in my account. When I complained they hooked me up with a wanna be manager and felt nothing was accomplished. Second your staff on the floor they just cut in front of one. I had clipped several on the heel due to this. Sunday was an incident with this. They leave the carts for shop for the idiot at home too lazy to shop right in the middle of aisles. At times blocking a aisle. You should get rid of this benefit more so health hazard for the lazy one that doesn't exercise to begin with. This is a stupid idea a college educated person came up with. Pharmacy review- I have a 3-month prescription that Walmart has filled before. The pharmacy sent me a 20-day prescription, they don't know why. Their first question was did I not notice when I picked it up. First, I did not pick it up. Second, if I had, it would not have occurred to me to check, because I trusted this place until now. And then they tell me there is nothing they can do, I have to wait 20 days for the rest of the order because insurance won't authorize a second transaction. 3 stars, not 1, because I've used this pharmacy many times for prescriptions and vaccines with no problems. read more

Pretty cramped and aisles full of stuff everywhere. Seemed a bit disorganized for the most part. The Electronics section had most items in locked sections and they weren't selling items on Black Friday week on Walmart.com, 11/11/24 - 11/17/24, in store! They said only online for the moment... The sections were pretty narrow to navigate around in. Like, if more than 2 people walked in an aisle, it was difficult to get around, because there was hardly any space to move. I'm impressed, very impressed. It's hard to impress me with a big box department store with groceries in it but the Wheeling super center is impressive. They have a grocery section that is on par with a major grocery chain, the only thing they lack is their own sushi department, which I would be apt to trying shortly after debut if it came to become something. They have a good selection of fish but could use more pre seasoned fillets in the selection. I found anchovies and other delicacies that are difficult to find at the local discount grocery chain without any problem and their giant cartons of eggs are something no house should go without for breakfast stock. I'd like to see more in terms of import foods, tofu and other Asian essentials would be nice. Maybe I overlooked them in the myriad of a selection of foods. I hate naming competitors but I'd say the selection of product was on par with a Kroger branded chain grocery store. While we didn't need much from other departments it was nice to find out that Walmart is now a good grocery one stop shop. Years ago I didn't have this opinion of them and thought selection was limited and things seemed unusually cheap. Now things are most definitely on par with large chain grocers. We had no trouble finding a checkout lane in their plethora of self checkout lines and they had regular lanes marked off as "Assisted Checkout" which struck a bit of a painful nerve with me. Elderly and disabled people don't need to be called out more and cashiers probably don't appreciate the oddity. A better wording would have been "Personal Checkout" or just leaving it as it was "Checkout" and "Self Checkout" was fine. The whole addition of assisted to it, kind of sticks in my craw. Since I can't take stars off by the half I'm leaving this a 5 star review but technically they get a 4.5/5 from me. Overall an A grade to A- grade store. read more

I rarely leave bad reviews, but felt the need to share. Usually I come here because of the low prices. The other night, however, I went to customer service to ask for a gift receipt for a gift card. The employee, a young lady, was very rude in her response. She kept repeating, "GIFT CARD??? GIFT CARD???" in a loud voice, as if she was about to laugh at such a request. I usually don't buy gifts, so it may've been a dumb request on my part, but she could've handled the situation more professionally. Someone got into my account and placed two orders one for $265.00 and another one for $500.00 on the same day. what make me mad that whoever was filling the order should see that there is something wrong with the order because there was like 8 times of the same tooth paste 3 times of some other stuff that no one will order like that. And they should talk to store manager about it. but they did not. I had to go Walmart.com and delete the card that they used and cancel that card in case they would use it someplace else. When I was returning stuff to the store, they told me that they could only put back in the store card, but I said no I want into my bank. So, the manager call the Walmart and they promised to give me my money back and all the stuff for Total $800.00 I can donate because in this situation They will not take it back because they will give money back any way. Yesterday I came here and I bought groceries for the whole month. It's been a month since I've been here because I'm too busy with my 1 year old baby and my husband will be the only one who will go here and do our groceries. Since my husband is at home and will take care of our baby I'm the one who will buy groceries. I Am familiar with this place and nothing has changed. They have different sections but dome inventory was not organized and some are empty. I just grab some milk, cereal, cookies, condiments, eggs, chocolate, chips, kitchen products, comfort room products and many more. I also went to the fruit and vegetable section. I think I bought everything I need. So I went to the counter and paid for it. While waiting for my turn I went to another area to buy a box of sushi. read more

One of the big benefits of this Walmart is the proximity to a Sam's Club, allowing you buy huge quantities of household staples at a low price and supplementing that with smaller quantities of items that don't need to be purchased in as large of a quantity. Not everyone pays for the membership however, so that may not be relevant to everyone. The additional traffic that this brings may also be a negative as it does make it more difficult to get on and off of the main roads. As for the Walmart itself: This Walmart Supercenter is huge. It has tons of selection which also means it's difficult to find what you're looking for at times as it may be scattered throughout the store. Shelves and displays are kept reasonably neat -- although for clearance items (especially seasonal) there's typically a bit of disarray in how this is arranged. Prices are good and the return process is fairly simple. What I don't like as much about this location is the parking and traffic layout. Since it's typically very busy, there is congestion created by the traffic flow directly from the street to the front of the store where any pedestrian traffic can slow down the movement of cars. When leaving the lot, the cars also must pass through all the pedestrian crossings as well -- creating an artificial backup. With the layout of displays and items for groceries confined to one section of the store, this area can get crowded which makes casual browsing and shopping a bit more difficult. A similar congestion occurs when moving from seasonal to beauty / pharmacy. With a store size this large, a few simple changes to how these are arranged to prevent as much cross-traffic could really improve the experience. Checkout can also take a while at times. Although self-checkout lanes seem to have improved this a bit, there can be a line for this service as well while checkout lanes do take several minutes at all times of the day. Part of the slowdown could be alleviated from improvements to make sure that all items have easy to scan bar codes and tags and to make sure that items are correctly placed on shelves so that there are fewer price disputes. Overall, a reasonable place to shop for discount goods with plenty of selection. It can be challenging to run such a busy store and keep everything operating smoothly and items reasonably arranged. However, they do a fairly good job of efficiently running a very large store. read more

He didn't know what okra was, so I showed him the item on Walmart's website. I like this super Wal-Mart. It usually has what I want (and sometimes need). Too bad it's in Cook county. They are a superstore and have inexpensive groceries, food, health & cosmetics, clothes and more, so I like shopping here and the service is generally good as well. What I don't like about this place is that when they are out of basic items during the daytime or evening, they don't restock them right away or soon. E.g., they hardly ever have Supremo orig. picante Pork Chorizo on the shelf. When they are out of coke zero 12pk cans, they don't get restocked until the overnight stocking happens. It's inconvenient to me. Thus, I have given this place three stars at best. There are better Wal-Mart superstores out there but this one works for me fine usually. read more

I ordered an item online. When I went to return the item I was told that it was a "marketplace" item so they would not return at the store. I was told I had to contact the "seller". The seller did not allow a return in the allowed time. They kept directing me to the website to start a return which was never available. I contacted Walmart online and was told that a refund request was sent to the seller. I never received a refund. I contacted Walmart AGAIN and was told I was out of the return time and I would not get a refund. I will never shop at Walmart again, in store or online. It is completely unacceptable to sell an item on a store website and make a customer deal with the other sellers when there is a problem. If I have a business and sell products from different manufactures, I would need to stand behind the products that are sold in my store. This Walmart has reached a new level of innovation in customer service--not providing any at all! It's genius! They allow you, the customer, to do all their work for them, saving untold sums of money and energy. This really shows their care for the planet. Let me tell you a story. I was in need of a HUGE amount of paint for a home improvement project (1 gallon), in a very obscure color (pre-mixed gray). Wheeling Walmart didn't have it. So I drove to Vernon Hills Walmart. They didn't either, but were able to mix the right color for me. At least, they would have been had the machine not broken as soon as they put the paint in. Again, saving all kinds of energy--thanks, Walmart! I took my unmixed bucket of paint BACK to Wheeling Walmart (gorgeous drive, btw), and waited ONLY 25 minutes at the paint desk for help to come. The three people who "called for help" while I waited? I see now what they were doing, and I salute them. It's part of Walmart's prospective employee screening process. It's how they find the real go-getters. I said to myself, "You're on, Walmart!" So I went behind the counter with my bucket of paint, started the machine, and mixed the damn thing myself. The local Walmart on Lake Cook Rd., is my favorite low-cost option for all of my household staples. The store is well-staffed, clean, and I know I'm getting better prices than the nearby target. When I once had an issue with double swiping an item at checkout, it was quickly resolved at the customer service desk. And during the pandemic, their pick up service was flawless. DG in customer service all but called me a liar and said that her staff is trained and know the rules so they wouldn't say something that's not true (they did). I don't care as much that I wasted 1hour driving there just to come back empty handed but definitely expected more accountability especially from a manager. I ended up asking the store manager to pull my call up just to be told they don't record phone calls. Matt (store manager) was very dismissive of the situation as well. Stop the trading card scalpers! Management you should be aware of what is going on with the trading card scalping. All of the types of trading cards are being bought in bulk by scalpers who then sell them on various sites like Ebay for triple what they paid. Problem is when a parent like myself wants to purchase a pack for their child there is none in stock thanks to the scalpers and your lack of fair business practices by placing a limit on the purchase of trading cards i.e. daily amount allowed for a single purchase. This is a shameful act of your store and corporate greed. Target already does this but don't enforce the policy. read more

Went to this Walmart and the cashier charged me 5 times for 1 box of pasta-DID NOT VOID, $16 worth of artichoke that I did not buy. Granted I was unloading my cart and did not pay attention until I got home and went over the receipt, but what the heck? A place to shop, eat, and spend time with family. Great clearance prices, there's always someone to greet you and make you feel good about shopping there. They've always accommodated me when I'm there. The prices there are amazingly cheap but good quality! The cleanest, well-organized Walmart I have ever been to. The store layout was great and it was easy to find what I needed. It was really busy when I was there, yet the check-outs were moving quickly and employees were helping customers. Used to love their curbside arrangement. Staff always helpful and prompt. However....just discovered the curbside location is no longer along the corner side where very limited traffic goes. Now the curbside requires staff to come across two lanes of cars and for us customers we now have to cross in front of the entrance. I wonder how long before a staff member bring things out gets hit by a car!! Such stupid location. Why not expand the previous location? There was plenty of room. Blame it on Big Joe! And the gift card I located while cleaning out my junk drawer - love free stuff! My boys are growing up and getting a big boy room. After accidentally running across the Big Joe Dorm Chair online, which is a really cool bean bag type chair, I was immediately obsessed! I located it on Amazon, read the amazing reviews, and then somehow I found a package deal on two of these chairs at Walmart - online. I hit that button as fast as I could, and it was easy and painless. My first online order from Walmart. I don't typically shop here, since it's honestly not in the near vicinity. My experience was satisfactory. I received a confirmation via email, the chairs arrived in a couple of weeks, and that was that. Until...I picked up one of the chairs and found stuffing beads on the floor. There was a slight blowout in one of the seams. So, I called several stores to see if they might have one in stock, because you can return online orders here. It was suggested I head to the Supercenter after chatting with someone over the phone who located a couple. We drove all the way out there and though they weren't the Dorm Chairs, they had a bunch that were Big Joe's but not that exact style. So, we returned the chair and received an in store card to shop at another time. After the visit, I went home, hit the button and ordered up another replacement chair and it just arrived. Online seems to be the way to go, because it was a painless process, and shopping in store can be a little nutty. Oh, mind you, I ordered up a zebra rug for my kids too, and it's the same one I found in other stores. It was a ridiculously great deal, and I'm 100% satisfied.
