Went to make an Amazon return at 7 pm on 7/29/2025. Amazon counter was closed with no notification even though it should be open during business hours until 9 pm. Of course, this wasn't posted at the front of the store so I had to haul 2 heavy boxes all the way to the back of the store to find out. This store is poorly managed making Amazon returns difficult for customers. I do not recommend making Amazon returns at this Kohls location as they may or may not be open. read more

I had reviewed this business twice, but my previous reviews have disappeared. I don't know why. Kohl's if a good store to shop for clothing, cosmetics, household items needs. The store is clean, well-lit, and inviting. The customer service is good. I shop here for men's and women's clothing, especially for holiday gift giving. Kohl's has a good selection and variety. Pricing on the clothing varies from brand to brand. Some are reasonably priced, and some aren't quite as such, in my opinion. This is especially true since COVID happened. Prices by Kohl's standards have gone up significantly. However, the good thing is they have frequent deals and coupons available for customers' use. You also benefit from having and using Kohl's card. You get Kohl's cash back for certain dollar value purchases. read more

I can't blame the lady at the lake Zurich store where I started my mission, their web site said they had an item in stock, so I arrived, and was not in stock. The women rubbed me the wrong way, because I did not have a sku number to check, there was no internet connection in the store to help, but I had a screen shot with full description. So I left, I made a call to the Vernon hills store, and Melissa promptly answered my call, I told her exactly what I was looking for, no SKU number needed. I was there to dropped off my Amazon returns this morning and the store was empty! I was there around 11:30 in the morning! I walked straight back where the Amazon customer service desk was and I didn't even have to put my item in any packaging! They do it right there for you! When you get your confirmation, there's a coupon for 25% off at Kohl's, so of course, I purchased an 8" Farberware cake pan! The service was quick and friendly! Not surprising that on my 2 visits to the Kohls in Vernon Hills that there were more employees than customers. I would and will stay away too. The service, training and attitude in the store is ridiculous. I was literally 1 of 3 customers in the entire store and was shuffled between 3 registers, 3 different cashiers, a customer service associate and a manager - all of whom provided me different answers to the same question. No personalization, even though my arms were FULL of merchandise. No Welcome. And certainly no service. I am dumbfounded in today's day and age, when retailers are struggling for business that a customer would be treated this way. Today they paid me to shop! Yep, you read that correctly. We had a price adjustment situation we didn't expect, and we left with $50 in our hands. So I think we all know the shtick at Kohl's. It's a department store mentality with a mix of name brands and in-store brands. Some stores are a disaster and messy with clothes all over the floor, and you feel like you're shopping at a place that doesn't take pride in their merchandise. You'll find some quality merchandise mixed with some no-way-not-in-a-million-years items. My biggest complaint about this chain overall, is the fact that when they first opened in the area the place was the bomb. You could find just about anything, and for a great price. You could buy a huge lot of clothes for very little (you still can...sort of), but the catch always ends up on being the quality of the items and the time you need to take to return them. When my kids were growing up they lived in the Jumping Beans clothing brand - 100% quality every item purchased. As the boys started to grow, we got caught in a weird size pocket and they couldn't fit into anything. Now we've finally made it into the prime size 8-12, but the clothes are just always so picked over and don't seem to restock. We come here for active wear like sweats. On To The $$$... Recently we purchased some Nike active wear for our boys. Of course my boys picked out this weird fabric that doesn't have an ounce of cotton in it. That means you have to low dry it or air dry it. Anyway, one pair of pants shrunk and we had to head back to Vernon to exchange it. Of course we paid $30 for the pants, and now they were $17 on sale. That's the thing that stinks about Kohl's. So many sales after you purchase them. But...they actually did a price adjustment for everything we purchased a couple of months ago and we ended up with $ in our hands and pants exchanged. Today while we were waiting to do an amazon return I had asked an employee if they had wheelchairs available for customers as I was with my grandmother and she gets too winded from walking. The first woman I spoke to told me they didn't have any, which didn't seem right so I asked another employee..... A woman by the name of Jackie who appeared to be a mgr , told me they had one but that we had to go all the way to the other side of the store to fetch it so we could use it.... Now just to explain the scenario a bit better... By this time , I have taken a lawn chair down from a display so my grandma could sit down in line while she caught her breath..... As an employee - you're telling me that you think it's appropriate to send the woman with an oxygen tank to the ends of the store to get her own wheel chair? (I just got off crutches and am currently in a walking boot or I would've just found one) I made a comment to my grandma that I was bothered by that , and the employee must've over heard me. Because she begrudgingly told me she would go get the wheelchair. When she brought it to us, I thanked her and explained that it was just too far for my grandma to walk and get it. She dropped it off with a quick "sure" and immediately turned to other things. My grandma tried to thank her and asked for her name , and the woman responded "Jackie" and walked away. Now not only is this store a filthy nightmare, there is stains of nail polish all over the registers up front, clothes littering the floor, disheveled changing rooms and mismatched sale queues everywhere...... I'm just really bothered by the lack of help from the staff. You're in customer service ?? I've worked retail many years and you always try to do your best in assisting guests. To be lied to by the first employee , and then treated with attitude by the second was just a slap in the face. Like, the woman is on oxygen and sitting down on a lawn chair in the middle of your store...... Clearly she could really benefit from a wheel chair right about now.... This just rubbed me the wrong way so I needed to make a review about it. That was a great deal. And after we found our butterfly tablecloth, we were looking at the Sonoma goods for life candles and as we were smelling all of the scents of the candles, every one of the candles smelled Amazing, and so we smelled the Island Nectar candle from Sonoma goods for life and so we bought the Sonoma goods for life Island Nectar Candle. For $8.47. Another great deal. Kohls you are such a wonderful store that always has amazing items at great prices and with such friendly and helpful and courteous employees. My review is really about kohls.com rather than the Vernon Hills store. I have a credit on the card and tried to make a purchase online to pickup at the Vernon Hills store. I prepared the order and hit enter and got a message that there was an error. I then called the number they gave me on the message. The person who answered told me that my account number is an old number and that account was closed. This is the account I used to pay a bill a month ago and the number that shows up when I signin to my kohls account. The clerk verified that I have a credit on the account but still told me that the account is closed even with the credit which was for more than the order. I have had an account with them for over 30 years. I guess they don't need customers anymore. read more

Sometimes you can find just what you need at Kohl's. For example my daughter was looking for a zip-up sweatshirt/sweater that was nicer than the average sweatshirt but still casual. Found two items that worked here but only after some fairly poor customer service help. I saw some zip-up sweaters hanging on the wall but didn't see any in a size XS so I asked for help. While the lady who came to assist was friendly enough she had little knowledge of their stock. She didn't know if the item ever came in extra small or not. I did find a similar item from the petite department in the wrong spot in an XS. I asked if they carried the item that I wanted in the petite department. She said no. I asked where the petites where located. She brought me over and left me there. It was very crowed and unorganized but shockingly I found the exact item I was looking for in a petite XS. Fit her perfectly and she loved it! The stock in general here is very packed in and disorganized. Doesn't seem like the staff is committed to making sure that misplaced items are relocated back to where they belong. It is often hard to find an item you may be looking for. I also don't like that all returns need to be made at the customer service desk which is located in the way back of the store. Lines for returns as well as just checking out are often long. read more

I went to buy some pants and sweaters for my mom yesterday. I wanted to order a pair of pants in a different size, so i went to the service desk. I was told to order off the kiosk behind me. I asked the girl if she could do it for me, and she said no, that I had to use the kiosk. So I asked her what would happen if my 81 year old mom needed to order something, and she said they would walk her through it. I thought, really? My mom never touched a computer. When I entered my info into the kiosk, I quickly realized that you could not distinguish between the color choices. Plus, it was very glitchy. I had to hit each letter two or three times for it to take. Then when it did, for some reason it went back up to the start of the info, and although it was saved in there, it had me keep re-dong it. I have computer experience, and order on line with no problem, so I didn't miss anything. Not to mention there were no sales people around to help me. I ended up dropping $500 worth of clothes in the nearest bin. I will never go back. A brick and mortar store, CANNOT expect people to WORK when they go in to buy something at their stores. We are fools for rolling with this kind of "service". There is NO reason for me to shop here. I may as well have done this online, and if I go online, I have ALL the stores in front of me, not just Kohl's. read more

This past September, I turned 26. As per usual, my grandmother sent me a Kohl's gift card. And as per usual, I begrudgingly thanked her and planned my annual excursion to Kohl's in search of something useful that I could apply my $50 credit towards. On a crisp Friday afternoon in October, I entered the Vernon Hills Kohl's to complete my yearly "shopping spree". As my eyes adjusted from the unseasonably bright sun, I looked around and noticed a plethora of overpriced knockoff Cubs playoff gear. As a lifelong Cubs fan, it was disheartening to find that Kohl's, which has never sold Cubs apparel in the past, has decided to purchase all the cheap fair weather off brand merchandise they could find, and place it at the front of the store with price tags no lower than $45. If this were "genuine" MLB Cubs gear, I would be on board. However there has never been anything "genuine" about Kohl's. Their relentless advertisements make them appear to be a unique department store full of diverse and happy shoppers that interact with their even more enthusiastic sales staff. Sorry to break it to you folks, but these well lit commercials couldn't be further from the truth. Kohl's is the most depressing place on Earth. I've been through some hard times through my 26 years on this planet, but the urge to end it all has never been stronger than while I am at, that's right, you guessed it; the Vernon Hills Kohl's. The first red flag that I observed was the endless line of elderly women that looked like they were impatiently waiting to be euthanized. At the front of the line was an Indian woman who I believe was most likely autistic, or at least on the spectrum. What further concerned me was that it appeared she was in charge, as there were literally no other employees in the entire store. How do I know this you might ask? Well, I found a decent pair of Nikes that I decided I wanted to purchase. The only problem was that I wear a size 12, large but not uncommon. The largest size Kohl's had was an 11. I decided to take this box and walk around the store looking like an Asian tourist lost at the Bronx zoo. To my dismay, I could not find one single employee to assist me. I walked to the front of the store to confront the autistic Indian woman with my dilemma. When I did this, I was told to look for somebody in the shoe department and that I was holding up the line. At this point, my patience had expired and I explained to her and the line of confused elderly women how disappointed I was with my experience. I explained that Kohl's ads are misleading, and that all the Cubs merchandise was garbage. As I stood on my soap box and explained how we the people would no longer stand for this type of treatment, I felt like the president at the end of Independence Day. People cheered and clapped as I held my fist high in the air in defiance. I then dropped my imaginary mic and walked out. To sum it up, don't go to Kohl's. Kohl's sucks in every possible way. Their clothes suck. Their employees suck. And if you go there, you will suck. I have since traded my gift card for two nice bottles of wine that I have enjoyed as I wrote this detailed account of my horrendous experience. read more

As horrible and fucked up as the Arlington Heights Kohl's was yesterday, so this one was tidy, well organized, well stocked...and with actual sales people I could track down if I actually needed assistance. I had just struck out at Bed, Bath & Beyond...figured I'd get that elusive trimmer there since I had a coupon and a gift card, but alas, it was a funky, new fangled thing more suited for shaving designs on the scalp of a gang-banger than shaping hubby's goatee so I took a pass and hit Sam's before picking up my daughter at skating. With 15 minutes to spare, I made a stop at Kohl's just in cast they had the trimmer. I had no problem finding what I was looking for since the housewares section is the exact opposite of the Arlington Hts. store. As I made my way to the personal items/haircare section, I noticed how neat and well-organized everything was. So alright, I got my Norelco trimmer...and Kohl's just kept me as a sometime customer. Because they do have some really great sales. This experience totally made up for last night. read more

Sadness...I really wanted to do a bridal registry at Kohl's...all kinds of wonderful things at these stores, and good deals, often! Unfortunately, fiance and I tried no fewer than THREE times to stop in and open a wedding registry. The customer service person each time, while pleasant, was wholly unhelpful. The first time we went, there was some sort of glitch in their account creation system that wouldn't let us create an account, and the lady helping us got flustered and told us to just come back later. Well, that's a 40-minute round trip, but okay. The second time, again, it was complicated and time-consuming to set up the account, but we struggled through and got it done after having to set up a special e-mail account just for that registration. Huh? Lo and behold, the "gun" that you use to click on bar codes...didn't work. Apparently, there was just the one, too. So, again, we were sent on our way. The THIRD time we came back, no dice, because their server was "down," due to power outages. We decided to just go register at Target, instead. We were able to register for almost all the same things we'd have registered for at Kohl's, apart from Fiesta Ware, but ended up with some very Fiesta-Ware-reminiscent place settings at Target. read more

They are usually pretty stocked on everything so I can find what I came in looking for (and usually leave with more items). Asked manager to honor, she said no, called corporate, they said only on line. It was 80.00 worth of stuff and they put order on suspend and corporate had me give them all the SKUs 14 of them over the phone and no stock on almost all and could not honor all of the in stock items at store which had a total of about 15 people in entire store so they needed the sale. I went to the Kohls in Vernon Hills because I had Kohls cash to use up. I decided I would buy a new set of pots and pans as I had never bought a set and mine were all old and scratched. A sales clerk had tried to help me as I did not see prices on many of the items. He scanned the set I was going to buy and I waited patiently in line for my purchase. When the cashier told me the price it was considerably different than what he had told me. As we were discussing the price she asked me had I ever bought pots and pans before. I said "no" this was my first time. She told me about the differences, Teflon, non scratch, how much I cooked and pointed out to me what I was really getting in the sets. She pointed out that the set I wanted but could not afford had many items in there that for my simple needs I did not need. She talked about safety and health issues in some of the products. I went back and brought up two other sets as again the prices were not clearly marked. I waited again in line and she took the time to price check both sets, explained again the differences in the 3 sets I had been considering and even asked another cashier what she thought. I asked her name because she was the most patient and helpful person. She educated me and took the time to just not sell an expensive set but to make sure I bought the right set! I asked who her manager was and waited for him to come up to me. I told him how great and helpful she was and also told him about the other cashier that was helpful as well. I am sorry I do not have the name of the other cashier, but I want to acknowledge Urvashi Desai for her excellent help and for taking the time to really make sure I left knowing exactly what I was buying! Remember Urvashi was the cashier, and not a sales person in the department. It was her job only to ring up the sales. Compared to the Gurnee mills store this kohls is waaaay better. The store is nicely set up and organized. Their customer service was great when I had to return something that wasn't even bought at that store. The girl (cant remember her name) was very nice and knowledgeable. Definately won't be back to the Gurnee location but this Kohl's definately won me over. read more
