Yes... I was one of the crazies that went to Walmart this Black Friday. I didn't even actually purchase anything. Oh, the things we women will do for a good looking guy. The store was a zoo. We arrived around 9:30 on Thanksgiving for a TV that was advertised to go on sale at midnight. There were 200 TV's available. We were given tickets and told to wait in line. We couldn't leave the line for any reason. If we wanted to leave the line to use the bathroom, we could forfeit our tickets for a "bathroom pass." No, I'm not even joking. We waited the two hours for the TV, and in that time heard rumor of fights happening elsewhere in the store (we were in a line back in the garden department, so, safely tucked away.) My friend did leave the line to use the bathroom and came back confirming that it was, in fact, a mad house out there. People knocking each other out of the way for Barbie's, comforters, and $1 DVD's. Welcome to Black Friday? This just solidified for me why I do all of my Black Friday shopping online. The icing on the cake was the checkout process. We had asked the manager if it would be possible to open the register in the Garden department for those of us who were buying TV's only. While the manager agreed that our idea was good, he refused to act on it. Instead, we had to make our way with two HUGE TV boxes through the store to the ONE line that had been created, that "event security" then proceeded to funnel people to different registers. While I agree this is a good idea for security purposes, they were checking receipts at the door, so there was no reason why we couldn't have paid in gardening. Luckily, we both have cat-like reflexes and long strides and were able to get to the line quickly, otherwise checkout could've taken another hour or so! read more

I would like to highly praise Caroline and Mary at Walmart Wheeling customer services. They were able to assist with a very complicated return that I had through Walmart.com and resolved my issue in the most friendly, courteous and professional manner, I was thrilled. I was there for a while though as the systems were down and I got to watch peoples' interactions with the staff and I have a new-found respect for the Walmart staff as they see so many people all day long, most of whom are rude, pushy and obnoxious. Worst location ever.. Old Indian lady often rude... today is 05/22/16 at 9.40 morning I took some beacon to make a breakfast.. Came home.. And then figured it out its expired- one month!!! I came back to exchange it And saw full shelve of bacon from this brand was expired!!! Found even one with 2.5 month after date to sell .. So I had to take different one which was more expensive and had to pay more money, I spent my time which is not free- just to go and make that return and anyway I've been charged! read more

No no no no no I haven't been to this location since they recently renovated it but as soon as I walked in I realized nothing has changed. It is still a WalMart. The whole place just makes me cringe. I have beef with Walmarts business practices and the cult like following. Low prices and everything you need in one place will not draw me to shop at this place. I just can't stand it. I am by no means a Mariano's person that needs a piano playing for ambiance but I just can't accept the cut throat cheap as dirt WalMart mentality. I understand that the business structure is sound and this is why they are so successful but it also comes at the cost of other businesses. This is my beef and it won't change. It is not in my nature to complain or write negative reviews, but because I had this experience occur twice at this Walmart location (which occurred in a two week period) I wanted to chime in on the conversation. By far the most blatantly rude and unprofessional customer service experience I have ever endured. I say blatant because these employees don't shy away from sharing how much they really don't care about your inquiries or the help you need. The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one is because they do have a lot to offer as long as you don't have to interact with the employees. I'm going to keep this review as short as possible and just share the most recent occurrence I had... I went to the sewing section and asked a female employee where the sewing kits were. She did not speak english very well and had to think about what I was talking about. She then walked toward a nearby table and I followed thinking she was going to help me. She began talking to another employee leaving me behind. I proceeded to walk to the aisle next to me and found it myself. She finished talking to her co-worker and walked back to her assignment. Didn't even bother to check on me to make sure I found what I needed! In essence, I learned a great deal that last time I went to Walmart. The employees don't speak english and most likely won't understand what item you're looking for and they have absolutely no manners and respect for customers seeking assistance. Whoever the manager is running this location needs to realize what's going on. It's a big store and it's essential that employees are prepared to handle the millions of questions they will receive during one shift. This super center is one of the most convenient locations thanks to the major roadways around it. I've come in on multiple occasions at various times of day and always found convenient parking although the weekends get a lot busier. I've even bought items online for same day or next day pickup and was able to do so with no trouble whatsoever. Highly recommended. read more

I would have given 5 stars because all the store and vision center staff are friendly and helpful , it's always clean , and the expansion is looking great so far . Only concerns are the lack of English fluency with some of the staff (but that's everywhere nowdays I guess, no offense but it does get aggravating ) , the new parking confuses people but the biggest problem is that the pharmacy needs a lot of help. They are not organized and though there were 3 people there and my RX was sent ahead , I still had to repeat my info to 3 different people and still had to wait 20 minutes. A line also formed and noone else came up to the registers to help the one girl who had to keep asking others questions to complete transactions. Horrible customer service. Went yesterday, Staci at the bakery and her partner were behind the counter. Asked for a cake for a family member's birthday. She and her partner were so rude and laughed at my face. Had a big attitude when asked to write something on it. That alone will never have me going back to ever buy a cake. Been shopping there my whole life. I have never felt more disrespected, and uncomfortable. Sometimes you have to bring it up to the attention of the store because these people will just do it to the next person. Sorry you chose to work there if you're so unhappy. It's a very dumpy Walmart located near the center of Buffalo Grove. It's always crowded, probably because there are no other Walmarts nearby. On the south side of Lake Cook Rd. means you'll be paying the 10% tax. I enjoy this place at 9am when I need to pick up a few items (bottled water, cereal, basically breakfast staples, and hygiene staples (ran out of shampoo, need it, eye drops, etc.). In other words, a cheap alternative to stopping at a 7-11. Avoid it all other times. I've seen cars broken into at their parking lot. One plus: If you are nice to the cashiers, they are the nicest people you'll ever encounter. Obviously they must deal with some very rude people, because a polite "hello, I'm fine, how are you" response to their "how are you today?" leads to fantastic politeness. Kudos to them, the rest of the atmosphere is destroyed by the patrons. All I can say is at least I can count on them for the emergency items rather than spending a fortune at a convenience store. read more

Generally clean. Sometimes no carts. Sometimes, the cart's wheels don't turn. Basically, though, an affront to working class America who shops there. Vegetable and fruit prices seem to be the highest in the area. Maybe their prices on name brand s are competitive but they usually have no cheaper private label alternatives to detergent, flour, etc in stock. So, for a moderately economical shopper, this is an expensive place to shop. Like a giant size convenience store. It's nice that they employ the elderly at checkouts but if you get behind someone with a lot of groceries, you can be there all day. They also seem to have the minimum of cashiers working at one time that they can have. If you neither value your time nor money, this is an average place to shop. read more

I am extremely appalled by this store's customer service. Over the summer we needed help in Sporting Goods and asked an employee for assistance. He said he would get someone to assist us. 30 min go by and no one has assisted us yet. My husband and I both used our cell phones and another customer at this point was at the counter as well using his cell phone to call the service desk at the store. No one answered the phone. We decided the three of us (including the other customer) to use the counter phone to call the front desk and they still didn't pick up their phone. My husband went up the customer service desk finally to tell them the problem. 2 miserable looking managers finally arrived to The Sporting Goods Section and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. Their excuse was that they were busy assisting cashiers. Yesterday 12-13-14: I had to get OTC meds for my husband who was sick that required an ID at their Pharmacy. A long line of about 8 of us were forming and only ONE cashier assisting customers. After 30 min I was finally taken care of and continued with my shopping. By this time my patience was wearing thin and as I was checking out the cashier (like always) have no sense of urgency. The customer in front of me started harassing me because he dropped something and expected me to pick it up for him and was mad I didn't help him. Anyways, another cashier opened her register someone else tried to cut me in line and the cashier was nice enough to let me go first and accepted a price match no questions asked. This cashier was great and accommodating. After my most recent experiences at Wal-Mart I am appalled at the customer service and the customer harassment. I need to stay away from Wal-Mart and go to Target instead. Shame on you Wal-Mart. read more

So I guess I jinxed myself by writing a bad review about the Wal-Mart in MT.Prospect, IL. Because now this Wal-Mart is just getting just as bad. For the last 5 weeks I've had to go to Target across the street for Gatorade because they either stop carrying the little 12oz 8 pk. Or they are not ordering it. The shelves for this product are empty. I can believe not a single manager has asked why is it empty. Another thing now it's been very hit or miss if I find that there is Ham and cheese in the deli. This is the worst Walmart I have ever been to. The customer service department is rude and degrading to their customers. I have given this store three chances all ready and it has been an incredibly awful experience each time. I have had a valid ID when chasing checks but because it was an out of state ID the rep at the customer service counter automatically said no without even looking at my id or check. When i asked to speak to a manager she degraded me by saying don't you have a bank account like normal people. I kept my cool and walked out. Tried to contact management and was told the don't speak with customers. Second visit, picking up a Walmart to Walmart transfer. Again different rep but was told no because of valid out of state ID. I was in a jam which is why i needed to Walmart to Walmart transfer in the first place! Once again degraded by the rep she was like whats $50 going to do for you and said sorry won't give you the money. Went to another Walmart and got the money no problem. Not to mention my girlfriend was called a bitch by management because she made the statement that the customer service at that location was rude. Third experience and the last was the final straw. Went to cash my paycheck, had both my US Passport, valid out of state Nebraska ID and was told nope their is no address on your passport and your ID is out of state. Spoke to management and was told once again normal people have a bank account. Was totally degraded and felt 2in tall. I don't get it !!! I have been to Walmart's all over the country and have no issues with transfers ID's and checks. I don't even know why this Walmart had a money center. I don't even know why this Walmart is open here. I hate to say that race is a factor here and don't like bringing it into play but much of the staff at customer service doesn't speak english and they don't appear to be friendly to Caucasian people that are not from IL. This Walmart has the worst customer service. The workers won't do their job, or do anything to help customers. I've been trying to get an item not available for delivery and online it states that the item is in stock at this walmart. When I went to check in person the workers just looked at me and said that they no longer had any. Then when I attempted to call the location I got the same response, they stated, "i'm sure if they didn't have it yesterday they won't have it today." I went to go return some two video games. One was not working when I played and the other we simply did not open and was in its original wrapping. I brought the receipt and they said they cannot return video games or electronics after 15 days of the purchase. I understand you maybe couldn't return or exchange the open one but I became really mad that I couldn't return or exchange something in the packaging with a receipt. It was bought a month in advance before Christmas so how the hell is that supposed to work. The store is always dirty and unclean. I can never find an employee to help me if I am in need of help. Yesterday, 2/18/2013, will be the last time I set foot in this dump. Oops...I mean store. Even though I don't feel particularly comfortable shopping here, I go every now and again for toiletries because of the decent cost savings you receive as compared to other retail stores. Over the years I've noticed a considerable decline in the clientele. It's never been an upscale experience, but it was tolerable years back. Now, I feel like I'm walking into the inner city. I stopped here yesterday because I needed to buy some envelopes and as I was walking past the men's clothing section, a stench of urine almost knocked me to the floor. I had to turn the other direction because I thought I was going to pass out. For me that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Not only does the place look like a zoo, but now it smells like one. Needless to say, I will gladly pay the extra money to shop elsewhere. This place is not worth the aggravation. Update: I ate my words and actually went back to this dump on Monday, June 6, 2016. As I was checking out at the Garden Center, I saw a person on the floor through the corner of my eye. I turned towards the person to get a better view as I thought he/she was either hurt or had a heart attack, but I was wrong. The person on the floor was a female Muslim employee kneeling down on a prayer rug with her behind in the air. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A Walmart employee praying in the middle of the Garden Center???? AND NO, I'm not Islamophobic nor xenophobic, but there is a time and a place for personal reflection. Dr. Anita Han is a fantastic optometrist, taking the time to understand my eye issues and diagnosing the problem correctly. I have corneal ulcers, and the previous optometrist I went to in the South Loop diagnosed this incorrectly and my eyes were getting worse! I also have gotten glasses and contacts at this Wal-Mart, and I am very pleased with the service and speed of delivery. Would recomment this place 100%! read more

This place has been refinished less than a year ago. Frankly, the place is still a dump. Not one of their employees give a high and holy godamn if they can help you. I remember when this rathole was under renovation looking for particular items that had been temporarily misplaced and I found peanut butter sharing shelf space with "oilcans" of Fosters Ale, and on the shelf below that were cans of fish food?!!! I know that they were doing renovations and thing had to be moved for the sake of limited shelf space , but since the work has finished it has NOT improved. One of my buddies who works at a Walmart pharmacy has told me about the 10 foot rule, it states that if any employee gets approached or approaches a visitor they must smile and greet that customer and offer assistance. That explains why employees of this dark abyss turn around, avoid eye contact, never smile, and treat customers like sheep, that must be corralled to the registers and shuffled out of the store. The last time I went there I bought some produce, now produce is a little tricky so I avoided the self checkout so that I could take advantage of a cashier to properly ID and ring up the produce that I had in my cart. So there's this lady who barely speaks English working the self checkout, and she is insisting that I go to the self checkout even after I told her no thanks. So I'm like "look I know what I'm doing so stop telling me the advantage of doing this myself, this is a store and I plan to take advantage of the only service I require of your staff, so please back off." she looks at me like I've just told her she's got cancer of the eyeball and walks away. This Walmart does not provide a pleasant shopping experience. I was very excited when I heard it was going to become a Supercenter. I was imagining the expansive, well organized and efficient Walmart Supercenters I visited in downstate Illinois. But this Walmart has declined and does not seem to be improving. Yes, prices are low, but often I am finding I'd rather go to Target across the street. At this Walmart, you will find: Crowded aisles Merchandise is unorganized and cluttered Displays are neglected and merchandise does not match displays (baby section for example) Only 2-3 checkouts open during peak shopping times (sometimes less) Checkout lines are slow No help available when you have a question or need to find something Poor customer service; employees are rude and don't seem to care Garden Center is not staffed; No help available with heavy items, loading, unloading Dirty store and restrooms There are many choices as to where to shop, and Walmart is moving down on my list. Staff can be amazing especially at the deli counter. Selection is smaller because it is not a supercenter. Check out lines are usually long.

Very good selection of products. Extremely poor maintenance of products. You will find refrigerator items left out - makes you wonder if the product you just picked up inside the refrigerator case had been left out & moved back. Several time I have purchased a product only to bring it home to find it had been used previously and restocked. That may not be terrible in the department store section but is offensive in grocery and personal hygene. There is a Target across the street with an equally good selection of products. Go there instead and enjoy the experience plus the lower Lake county taxes. read more

I came here to return some exercise geers i bought, and not 1, but 2 clerks made a mistake on calculating the day of purchase to the return date to be past 90 days. First person asked another clerk if she is correct and second clerk said yup, no return past 90 days. Seriously? My purchase had not even reached 60 days, how are you doing your math?? She asked me what credit card i wanted my purchase back on. I said back on the original card would be fine, she said i mean i can put it on whatever card you like. Seriously? I have never heard of this, how are they auditing their inventory and accounting i wonder? Probably why this is a huge reason why their inventory is always inpredictable. Anyway, thank you for being so flexible but i dealt with enough incompetence in 1 trip so i just want you to please complete my return so i can walk out for a breath of fresh air. On another note, this is a walmart super center, produce on the left side of the store and pharmacy on the right. Does have more selection than the one i usually go to in vernon hills, also seems a bit nicer, maybe just more space really and less cramped. Two bathrooms 1 located in the front by the checkout and another in the back of the store. The whole time i walked around the store i did not see 1 single store clerk, so i wonder how hard it would even be to flag someone down if you had a question. I think you would probably have better luck googling your question than trying to ask someone. Worst experience ever! Their cashier, named Mohammed applied me for their credit card, without asking my permission and explaining me what he was going to do. In the beginning, he told us something about a promotion, without explaining anything. I thought he was talking about some sale. I gave him my ID because we bought some beer, and I thought he had to check my age . I didn't give him my address, phone number or income. He did everything himself!!! Shocking! Be careful! I shop here every week. This Walmart is cleaner and more organized than other Walmarts. The only downside of this store is that the registers are consistently understaffed. You can get in an out relatively quickly however you will be in line for 20 minutes. The produce area needs to be reconfigured to allow more shoppers to move around. The aisles are very tight in other parts of the store. Where else can you buy peaches, motor oil, ammo, diapers, and a Christmas tree. God Bless America. read more

Updated - down from 3 stars to 1 star. After my latest experience they don't even deserve this 1 star. Unfortunately this Walmart has a lot to improve. And I mean a lot. I usually come here at night, in order to avoid huge crowds and big lines, but that doesn't always work. It can take me 5 minutes to hurry around the store and get what I need, yet I still have to wait 20+ minutes in line. It has gotten really bad lately. Usually only few self-checkouts are open (which do not take cash at times, card or vice versa.). If they're extremely busy at night they will put the slowest person on the register, I believe Mark, or Richard (the one with the glasses - avoid like the plague) whose register starts having issues as soon as it's your turn to get checked out and who will make you go to another register and make you wait another 5 min (not kidding) as he slowly puts up all his plastic bags and gets the new register ready to go. The problem with his old register? The scanner stopped working and he was too lazy to use the hand scanner. Also if you come here at night, don't be surprised to hear associates start yelling at each other over 3 isles, stocking shelves with boxes everywhere, or just sometimes being super creepy riding around smiling and following you on that floor cleaning machine thingy. read more

They just started closing one entrance sometime in the evening, without bothering to inform the customers or put up a sign or something. I had to walk the length of the store from the register to get to the door closest to my car .. Only to find it closed/locked, had to turn around and walk the length of the store again to the other door and then walk back across the entire parking lot to get back to my car... Not cool!!! Would have been nice to see some sort of warning that the doors would be closing at a specific time. Most other stores that close an entrance/exit door at a certain time have that. read more
