We live just down the street from this grocery store and absolutely love the convenience of it! ESP during holidays when most stores close early, if we're in a bind they have a ton of options. Located in a large plaza right off of Dundee, there is tons of parking and when you walk in you're greeted with tons of produce. The produce can be a hit or miss depending on the time of day and if it's picked over or not. You can find a lot of Mexican treats from the bakery and restaurant inside, or the goodies on the shelf. They have a little of both American and Mexican products. Their shelves are always super stocked, and the staff is very hard at work everytime we're there. This is a great grocery store that offers a variety of fruits and vegetables. Exploring this takes a little getting used to since it dips from dairy products into dry goods. In the back of the store is a seafood and meat display and marinated meats ready to cook. There is a wonderful taco stand inside the store with food that is delicious food. I enjoyed a carnitas burrito and rice that was very delicious. If you wanted a dessert they conveniently have a pastry shop with cake and breads ready to be served. In the area and popped in out of curiosity since I'm Vegan and a lot of these types of grocery stores have interesting produce sections. Have to report the prices of produce seem to align w that of Jewel. One item a "blanco" which appeared to be a plus sized root vegetable (?) I had no idea what it was. Most items signs are in Spanish. They had a huge selection of various masa or corn meal tubs and baggies of it prepped for home made tamale making. A lot of concha's and sodas and sht. I thought some of the chips might be unique but noticed later the ones that stuck out to me there are actually at other big box type stores. I asked an employee where the Lottery machines were and he looked confused so I made a "scratch off" gesture and he pointed me. I wasn't going to buy any there (I have my personal spot) but wanted to see if the they had any weird ones like the Texas Lotterias or those fatty boom batties you see at bodegas in NYC and they did not. I saw a nun at the entrance making charms or offerings to sell with the prayer candles. I can't see myself shopping here since the produce is the same prices as every other store and they have no real good vegan specific items like Gardien or Dr Pragers. It was busy without being overwhelming and the customers and employees seemed chipper and it was clean. The lot also was roomy and easy to to get in and out of with 2 entrance/exits. read more

Among the international market around, with a focus on Mexican items, this is a cleaner, brighter, and larger market to shop at. Prices are very good and selection is very complete. However, the fresh items can be hit or miss at times. Both fruit and vegetables can be bruised or over ripe at times although when the items are good, you're getting a significant discount for high quality items. Though the exterior looks nice, the inside can be slightly rotten at times. Bakery has a lot of items though there's a limited variety of flavors offered here though prices are great. Meat selection is decent, more than the standard Jewel or Mariano's but not as large as some other international markets. Quality is fairly good. Parking lot is enormous with lots of space to navigate and checkout speed was fast. Overall, another option for international groceries at great prices. read more

I like the grocery store a lot, but I visit mostly for the small taqueria in the back. Holy sh*t, their food is absolutely amazing. I've been shopping/eating at Jimenez for a long time and the food has never been disappointing. I'm very much obsessed with their quesadillas, especially the squash flower one. So good!! I hate to say it, the service is real friendly and the food is generally ok...I mean, the vampiro drink and two over easy and all....This place is not the greatest of Jimenez locations, and it's nothing compared to the Fullerton location in the city....but if you're in Wheeling this is about the safest bet for real Mexican. I think you may be better off buying some stuff here and cooking it yourself though. Tacos are good, standard tacos, huevos over easy ranchero style are dope! Good south-of-the-border market. Specializes in meats, but I'm a vegetarian and liked the fresh veggie selection and there's a stellar selection of beans (dried and canned) along with plentiful Mexican food combinations. The produce can be found less expensively at the International Market at Rand and Arlington Hts Blvd, not too far away. But the produce here is all top grade, clean, and a wide selection. Excellent contribution to the neighborhood. Fair prices. I'm a fan and found myself tempted into quite a bit. read more

Taqueria food is good in the restaurant within the market. Seriously. Love the way they do chicken taco's- grilled chicken, not shredded and orange soaked chicken like so many taqueria's have. Pork was not tops. Good service, nice folks. Clean place. read more

1 month ago I bought some carne asada. When I got home and opened it it stunk horribly. I brought it back. Yesterday I went to get some chicken when I opened them the smell smacked me in the face. Absolutely disgusting. I threw them in the garbage and by the time I came home from work 6 hours later my house reeked of smelly meat. Garbage needed to be taken out immediately. I like this store because it meets my needs for Mexican products but I'm done with meat here. I don't know if they are putting old meat out or they are not refrigerated correctly but it's absolutely gross. read more

I been shopping in that store for years but the meat is of poor quality and fruit last about two days and a the manager's they have they give you poor service just a comment this weekend I went to buy my groceries again and one side of the entrance was blocked and one the other was broken solution to this problem put plastic curtains in the main entrance instead fix the doors. read more

There is a restaurant inside this grocery store, and it is amazing for the price. There are great, great tortas which are well made and you have some fresh juice options at prices that are a complete steal. I tried a Chile Relleno torta here and it was effectively the size of a panini at Panera, along with some delicious and fresh beet juice. I also had a Chorizon torta and realized that two tortas is simply too much for a single human being to eat. Even myself. Long story short: this place is a highly, highly underestimated logical place for mexican food that is definitely a step above places like el famous while being about the same price. Clean. Delicious. Reasonable. The meats look and are very fresh. I'm not from the area but stopped by to buy some steak for the grill and naught over 5 lbs and didn't even pay 20 bucks. The restaurant has been out to go place this past week and every choice has not let us down. read more

A lot of things here are cheaper, like fruits and hot food, etc but not so much the basics like milk. That being said, this place is great. They have a ton of specialty items for good prices, they keep the store pretty clean compared to most specialty/foreign type grocery stores, and the taqueria is super good. This supermarket is hyper hispanic with tons of Mexican products. It is like going to a supermarket in an hispanic neighborhood of LA or Phoenix. The butchers are really top notch although their ingles is pretty poor. Helps to speak Spanish. I got some arrachera or hanger steak to grill later on. And the butcher asked me in Spanish if I wanted it thinner. So he cut an already thin steak three times on the horizontal. I was really impressed with his knive skills. That wasnt easy. I also saw other butchers breaking down entire pigs, hardly anyone does that any more. read more

I love this store for the sheer volume of hispanic products because I love to cook and try new things. I have never seen anything like their meat counter... I didn't think real butchers existed anymore! these guys cut the meat right in front of you, everything is fresh, lines are long. The little taqueria inside the store is a little intimidating if you are a gringo and don't speak spanish, like me, but go there...the steak tacos are fabulous. After being seriously disappointed by another grocery store that recently opened up in the area, my husband and I ventured over to Jimenez. This is a fantastic find for produce. I've been having trouble finding quality produce in the area and so far the prices and selection here can't be beat. Everything is super clean and well organized.They do have a lot that you can find at Dominick's and Jewel too, which surprised. It's a nice blend. I definitely won't be shopping anywhere else for my produce. read more

I have been a customer here for about 15 years. I mainly shop Sunday mornings and get excellent service from most employees. The restaurant they have inside has great food and a huge variety. Tonight was a different story I got pushed away by an employee who didn't feel like ringing me up. I personally think it was a racism. I was more surprised to find out that the person who didn't want to ring me up was the night time manager. After I paid for my groceries I asked him why he had done that and said " sorry I meant to apologize". Well he didn't apologize he took care of two other people and then went into his office, without apologizing. He said he would never treat a customer any different no matter if they were long term customers or new customers. Manager Pedro lied because he did not treat me equally to the other two customers he did ring up. I probably wont be going back for a while if I even do go back. If I do go back it will be Sunday mornings when I don't have to deal with the racism from manager Pedro. read more

My mom is been going to this store ever since I was a kid now she takes her grand kids here for grocery shopping. Today she shared the beautiful experience that occurred today.she was having hard time to get the product of the top shelf because she was looking for help but all of sudden she seen some lady name Rita and she got the product down for my mom , and got the cart for her n help her also she shared the some kale n eggs recipe to my and we loved her customer skills n the awesome recipe people are heart of the business but she's a great assets for your company great job helping my mom out n she really appreciated it n I wanna thank you for that !!!!!!!! read more

I've been to fancy over priced cantinas before their food doesn't hold a candle to this. I been going to this supermarket for years and its wonderful. The butchers are great, the meat prices are the lowest around and its fresh!!! Also vegetables are always cheaper than Jewel. Its like going to Little Village "La Villita", but a lot closer for those of us living in the northern suburbs. You can find all of your favorite Hispanic foods and products. read more

Took me a while to get up the nerve to go into this store even though I drive by it twice a day on my commute. Let me tell you how glad I am I finally did. Don't let the run down shopping carts freak you out. There's great deals to be had here depending upon what you need. This is a great place to shop for fresh produce and they have a ton of varieties of fresh tortillas. My personal fav is the El Milagro corn tortillas for most taco and enchilada dishes we make. They get a delivery seemingly every day so your odds of buying tortillas the day they are made are pretty good. The ordinal date is listed on the packages so you can be sure you're getting the fresh ones once you learn how to read the code. I've bought chicken and skirt steak here and the butchers are skilled and friendly and while some spanish will serve you well here, it's definitely not required. IMO there's better places to buy cereal and other more american products, but you can't go wrong here for any Mexican recipes you're shopping for. read more

Worst customer experience ever. Went with my husband, who is Spanish, and tried to Oder food at the restaurant. The young man working starting harassing us, telling us he didn't have the food we wanted, then he laughed at my husband and called him a profanity! Waited over 25 mins for the manager to show his face who went over to the kid and asked him to apologize. The kid would not and laughed at the manager! The manager refused to take responsibility or hold the young man accountable. It was one of the worst experiences we have had in years. This is an awful place to go to and they do not care about their customers whatsoever. Stay away! read more

As far as the groceries, I have nothing bad to say. It is what it is. You want tortillas, cereal, produce, they have it. Shopping isn't rocket science as long as the shelves are stocked, nothing really to complain about. However, the homemade food in the back is something totally different. It's a skill and customer service along with health concerns that come into play, so here is my issue. The salsa that I received from the back tasted like tequila and who knows how old it was sitting there for. It completely took me by surprise when I inspected it further and smelled it. Disgusting. The Grilled chicken was completely dried out and reminding me of what bricks might feel like if it were chewed. The food looks delicious but when you have a experience such as the salsa event I touched on earlier,it really makes you think on what type of food conserving methods they enforce. Perhaps today's beans are a mix of last week's beans. Needless to say I left with a seriously BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH. If your a gambling person, Go for it. Great selection of Hispanic foods. A very large bakery section. Fresh squeezed juices are delicious. Love the deli sides/salads!!! But my favorite part....the restaurant!! Try the carne asada! This place may look like a grocery store from the outside, but it is actually a grocery store with a small Mexican restaurant inside of it! That's right. Now let me explain. In order to get to this restaurant you need to walk inside the grocery store like you would any other grocery store, but there is one small difference. You don't need to get a shopping cart. You might feel like people are staring at you and wondering why you didn't get one, but trust me, you are just being paranoid. People come to this grocery store all the time and don't use shopping carts. Now the key to a successful trip to this restaurant is focus. There will be a LOT of distractions. Have you seen the weird types of fruits and vegetables they have at Mexican grocery stores? A stroll through the produce section is more entertaining than a trip to the zoo. They've got like 8 different types of bananas and giant roots and cactus that I guess are edible. Forgot what I was going to write about.
