In the area and popped in out of curiosity since I'm Vegan and a lot of these types of grocery stores have interesting produce sections. Have to report the prices of produce seem to align w that of Jewel. One item a "blanco" which appeared to be a plus sized root vegetable (?) I had no idea what it was. Most items signs are in Spanish. They had a huge selection of various masa or corn meal tubs and baggies of it prepped for home made tamale making. A lot of concha's and sodas and sht. I thought some of the chips might be unique but noticed later the ones that stuck out to me there are actually at other big box type stores. I asked an employee where the Lottery machines were and he looked confused so I made a "scratch off" gesture and he pointed me. I wasn't going to buy any there (I have my personal spot) but wanted to see if the they had any weird ones like the Texas Lotterias or those fatty boom batties you see at bodegas in NYC and they did not. I saw a nun at the entrance making charms or offerings to sell with the prayer candles. I can't see myself shopping here since the produce is the same prices as every other store and they have no real good vegan specific items like Gardien or Dr Pragers. It was busy without being overwhelming and the customers and employees seemed chipper and it was clean. The lot also was roomy and easy to to get in and out of with 2 entrance/exits.

Among the international market around, with a focus on Mexican items, this is a cleaner, brighter, and larger market to shop at. Prices are very good and selection is very complete. However, the fresh items can be hit or miss at times. Both fruit and vegetables can be bruised or over ripe at times although when the items are good, you're getting a significant discount for high quality items. Though the exterior looks nice, the inside can be slightly rotten at times. Bakery has a lot of items though there's a limited variety of flavors offered here though prices are great. Meat selection is decent, more than the standard Jewel or Mariano's but not as large as some other international markets. Quality is fairly good. Parking lot is enormous with lots of space to navigate and checkout speed was fast. Overall, another option for international groceries at great prices.

I like the grocery store a lot, but I visit mostly for the small taqueria in the back. Holy sh*t, their food is absolutely amazing. I've been shopping/eating at Jimenez for a long time and the food has never been disappointing. I'm very much obsessed with their quesadillas, especially the squash flower one. So good!! Will always be my first choice for Mexican food.

    That's what's up.

I hate to say it, the service is real friendly and the food is generally ok...I mean, the vampiro drink and two over easy and all....This place is not the greatest of Jimenez locations, and it's nothing compared to the Fullerton location in the city....but if you're in Wheeling this is about the safest bet for real Mexican. I think you may be better off buying some stuff here and cooking it yourself though. Tacos are good, standard tacos, huevos over easy ranchero style are dope! Caldo de res, they never really have it anymore -is good in the late AM, so too are the elusive enchiladas. This is not Pilsen or Little Village, or new Maxwell....so....ya know.

I'm currently on vacation in chicago and was exploring the Chicago French Market when I came across a big sign that said something about pastrami. It was a still a while before Clinton Street Smoked Meats opened, but the guy (I'm sad I never asked his name) was super helpful and just told me that the meat was already done and just to come back in a few minutes. So I did. I ordered a their half pastrami sandwich on rye with the potato salad. Oh my ever loving goodness! This was so good I actually started tearing up at the table. Since I got the first slice, they asked me if I wanted a fatty cut or lean cut of meat (I'm not sure if they ask everyone, so I just added this tidbit of information). I got a fatty cut of meat and added Dijon mustard. This meat was so soft and moist that it really didn't need anything else. It held together so well. The potato salad, I'm sure was made with some addictive substances because, holy cannoli, was this an amazing side to have. It stands up on its own but couple with the sandwich, was mind blowing. In the ingredients list, they add bits of the pastrami into the potato salad which was an amazing touch. I will absolutely need to come here again each time I'm in Chicago. Clinton Street Smoked Meats is where it's at!!

We ordered the steak fajitas that came with beans, tortillas, and a little side of guac. The tortillas are apparently handmade and fresh, but I was a bigger fan of the corn ones instead of the flour ones. Both still very good though! We also got the shrimp skewers, and it paired so well with the free chips and salsa they gave us. I'm not a huge fan of bell peppers, but they made them so flavorful and tasty here that I couldn't stop eating them. The service was great with the servers and busboys since they brought out the chips/salsa right away and made sure our waters and drinks were always full. The only flaw I have for the place was that we waited nearly 40 minutes even though we put our name and phone number down in the front. The host claims she called us but might of dialed the wrong number, so it was a little bit of a bummer to have to come back and check in when we could have been seated earlier. However, one of the managers stopped by our table to ask how our food was and packed up our food for us at the end. The ambiance was very packed and lively in there! There were so many people celebrating birthdays that they would have signs and cake and even sing to you for your special day. It's BYOB, so there was a lot of people making their own drinks. Additionally, I'd make sure you have cash since it's a cash only place. I definitely want to come back again and recommend it to others; however, you better be prepared for delicious food and an exciting environment!!

We ordered the queso fundido, horchata, Sabina's tacos, and skewers which comes with three. Next time, I would skip the queso and horchata as the queso got hard quickly and the horchata seemed a little watered down. The Sabina's taco and skewers were delicious! The chicken was not as good the shrimp but we wanted to try it. I recommend getting the shrimp as I feel like it's juicier naturally. The tacos were flavorful and I loved having the refried beans and cheese in the taco. The restaurant is lots of fun as the staff are all busy, playing music, and making sure people get their birthday songs in. I highly recommend this spot as it's good and the vibes are fun.

This is the perfect size for making mohinga (Burmese catfish soup). They also have a fish service counter if you need them to cut it into smaller pieces. They have nice big sturdy plastic bags that can fit the whole fish. They have separate service counters for chicken, fish, and beef/pork which is helpful to reduce cross contamination. It's super cold so make sure you bring a down jacket and beanie! The service line sometimes takes a bit of time so just be aware of that. There are plenty of other meat offerings like whole chicken, pork, sausage, beef, etc. All of them look really fresh and very competitive pricing. There's also a grocery store section where you can buy fresh vegetables, spices, and even baked goods like paczkis. The Bavarian cream paczki was delicious and not too sweet. There's also bulk frozen foods like fries and jalapeno poppers (if I remember correctly). Finding a whole catfish in Chicago can be difficult and I'm glad I can always trust Peoria packing for my catfish needs. The whole 2 lb catfish was only $6, incredible deal! The parking lot is decently sized, on a busy day like Christmas or Thanksgiving you can drive further near where the trucks are parked and park along the fence. For special holiday hours they were responsive both through Instagram DM and phone calls to confirm their hours! Really great service. They recently moved to this new location in October 2025.
