1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing Service for Such an Expensive Restaurant I rarely write negative reviews. In fact, I can't remember the last time I felt the need to write one, but this place absolutely takes the cake. For a restaurant charging premium prices for all-you-can-eat Wagyu, the level of service was unacceptable. First of all, how are you going to put customers on a strict dining time limit but take forever to bring out the food? We spent so much of our time waiting instead of actually enjoying our meal. When customers are paying this much money, they should not have to sit around wondering when their next order will arrive. To make matters worse, we were encouraged to upgrade to a more expensive tier, only to feel completely ignored afterward. If you're going to convince customers to spend more, at least provide the level of service that should come with those prices. Then came the ridiculous membership situation. I happened to notice on my phone that I had been a member since August 2024, so I showed the employee. Instead of simply acknowledging it and letting us continue our meal, she spent a significant amount of our limited dining time trying to verify my membership. Here's the thing: I DIDN'T EVEN CARE whether I had an active membership or not! I wasn't demanding a discount or asking anyone to spend all that time investigating it. I simply showed her what was on my phone. Why should I lose valuable dining time over something I never asked them to investigate in the first place? The biggest issue is that your restaurant controls how much time customers get to eat, yet your own slow service and unnecessary delays eat into that time. How is that fair? An expensive all-you-can-eat restaurant should never make customers feel rushed while simultaneously making them wait endlessly for food. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium experience. But charging premium prices, pushing upgrades, providing slow service, and wasting customers' limited dining time is completely unacceptable. If you're going to enforce a dining time limit, then your service needs to respect that time, too. I walked in expecting an enjoyable Wagyu experience and left feeling frustrated and disappointed. For this kind of money, I expected so much better. Unfortunately, this experience was absolutely not worth the price.

Wowowagyu! We recently enjoyed one of the best Wagyu dinners we've ever had! Our reservation was made easily through Yelp, and we were seated promptly. The experience offers three different tiers: Silver at $58 per person, Gold at $78, and Diamond at $88, which is the one we chose. Right from the start, they let us know that a 20% charge applies for any leftovers, which is something to keep in mind. We were given an iPad to order as much as we wanted from an extensive menu. Every cut of meat was extraordinary. We also sampled a few dishes, including salmon and yellowtail carpaccio as well as scallops topped with caviar--absolutely divine! The only minor issue was that the staff could have done a better job identifying the various meats being served. However, this didn't detract from our enjoyment, as everything was truly delicious. We paired our meats with sake and Sapporo, finishing off the meal with a delightful vanilla crepe cake. As we were leaving, we were even offered milk teas to take home! Overall, it was an amazing dining experience, but be prepared for a splurge!

Definitely worth trying the experience and wagyu tasted very flavorful. Our server Katie was fantastic, very knowledgeable and helped walk us through the menu. Bussers were super quick as well cleaning the empty plates. Dont pass up the side dishes and bubble tea either. I would pass on the nigiri next time, which was just average.

Overall, the service was really good. The flavors were delicious. I didn't like how cramped and hot the area was and it felt like no AC was in the place. This reminded me of sitting outdoor in China and grilling skewers, super fun time. It's like prob $1-2/per stick of protein or whatever you choose to eat. The meat cooks pretty fast, water is self served. You can order drinks and they'll bring it to you. One great thing is: their bathrooms have Emesis / vomit bags if you need it. I've never seen that in another restaurant, so that's def v good to have. The service and people were all super nice, so patient, and so helpful with the whole process. Good food overall!

A lot of the menu items were unavailable during our visit. Out of all the dessert options, only one was available, and only two soups were being served. Some of the rice bowl options were also unavailable, which further limited the selection. Our favorite item is the Wagyu short rib plate, but we noticed that toward the end of service, it seemed to be mixed with regular beef. The texture was noticeably tougher, and we could definitely tell the difference. It was a bit disappointing since the Wagyu is usually one of the highlights of our visit. That said, our server, Zaid, was great. He was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout our meal.

This was our first time at Chubby Cattle, but we're Chubby Club members and are always visiting their other locations, so we were excited to try this one! We absolutely loved it. The cheese corn was SO GOOD and definitely one of our favorites. I also loved having the iPad right at the table for ordering--it made everything super easy and convenient, especially since it was our first time at this location. Our waiter Anan was amazing! He was incredibly thorough, helpful, and took the time to walk us through everything and answer our questions. He made our first experience here even better. We'll definitely be back!

7.4k @ 4.9?? - Chat GPT analysis: numbers are heavily influenced by specific marketing and service practices rather than purely organic

Was looking for a Japanese style bbq grill and had high hopes since this restaurant is highly rated. 4.9 on 7.4k reviews on Google and 4.5 star on Yelp. ( see chat gpt analysis of the reviews below) What I witnessed was probably the worst customer service, table grill failure and tablet ordering system failure all in one experience. Sort of like Lemony snickets - series of unfortnate events. I'm still confounded about the ratings. Did just have bad luck?? Table Grill: 0 / 5 Fire suddenly cut out after 20 mins and it was clear that propane tank was low. Server had no clear action other than to suggest to move the cheese corn off the grill. After taking his suggestion and the meat was still not cooking.( 10 mins later ) I had to flag him down the 2nd time. I had suggested we move to another table i saw that was open and he accomodated. Grill was not frequently changed like other bbq restaurants and looked completely charred and black by 20 mins. Oil was never applied to the grill . Meat constantly stuck to the grill wires making it difficult to turn the meat without ripping it. *Note to management: Make sure you quality check and confirm propane levels before you start the day. Do assurance check towards the evening to prevent any grill issues as we experienced. Server was not trained to be able to handle this situation. Servers had mentioned the fautly table was a known issue no corrections were made by management. Add oil on the table so customers can self oil the grill. Tablet Ordering System: 1/5 ( touch screen tablet) : After the Grill cut out , i pressed "call attendant " button on the tablet screen several times and no response. Looked across the room and server was happily busy catering to other tables.. waited 15 mins to flag him down to make him aware of the table flame. Tablet also did not propery input my order and often times found myself wondering if the orders went through. I had ordered Tom Yum soup and nothing came the entire dinner.. even mentioned it to my server. No action was taken. The real kicker was at end of the night i saw 3 orders of Tom Yum Soup on my bill. ( see attached pic ) Seriously guys?!! Server said he was not able to see my orders. * Note to management: Make sure you do a dry run of all the tablets and ordering system before you deploy tablets during peak busy times. Remove the tablets that are not functional. Its that simple. Customer service: 3/5 While I appreciated the server making attempts to correct gas grill error and tablet error. There were gaps in his service and attentiveness. He did not articulate or project his voice in the noisy environment and often felt he was mumbling. Since i was a new customer, I found it very difficult to understand the complex ordering systems which was timed every x minutes and limited to x amount. It seriously was a guess and see what happens ordering experience. Server only added to the confusion. Still unclear why Google Maps has this restaurant rated 4.9? In fairness he did comp my bill $15 for the series of errors. Still ended up paying $288. go figure. Food: 2/5 Salad was an embarassing 2 -3 tablespoons ( see attached pic) I dont think they really want you to have salad here. you have to order salad probably 3-4 times to get a regular size restaurant salad. Meat: 4/5 Good some highlights with Wagyu and Pork Belly. Sides: Dismal - 2/5 Edamame, veggies, wakame salad, lettuce, etc. probably the biggest offender. portions were small / maybe 2-3 tablespoon. if you wanted more you have to go through the ordering system. And yes there is the limit of how many items you can order at a time. Sunday May 18 9pm.

Casual day out and decided chubby cattle was the right move for a chilly afternoon after walking around all evening. We got seated right away which was nice and our server Alex was attentive and on it for helping us order and cooking some of the food. Everything was as good as always, delivered fresh and fast. And the plates kept disappearing as soon as they were emptied. Overall, 5/5 experience, would recommend to others to give it a try.

Food quality is always top notch. This update is about our server last night. Very rarely these days does one get a young, early 20s server that's well spoken, polite & overall engaging. She was such a delight. Made last nights dining experience probably the most memorable so far. Plus, the new marinades were tasty too.

Kit C.

Finally tried chubby kettle for the first time! I've been waiting for this since it's always packed with long lines. We were seated pretty quickly and maybe waited for only 10 mins (with reservations). The receptionist was friendly and showed us the snack/drink table and we love how thoughtful and inclusive they are with the selection. Overall we were impressed with the quality of meat and options. There's 3 different tiers to choose from and for the gold and platinum option, you're only allowed to choose one out of the 4 wanyu option, so they're not really ayce for that section. However, the actual ayce section does have some good quality meat selections and they're good quality meat, fresh and tasty. The sushi options aren't as fresh as expected although te hand rolls were pretty good and that's what we kept ordering from. The scallop with uni from the special section did not taste fresh and was quite disappointing. I'd like to point out the waitress and waiter who showed us how to work the iPad were very friendly and patient with their service however, the ones who bring the food to the table were not. Some of them did not seem friendly and would just left the plate on the table without explaining what it was. We received the wrong food twice and we had to waive at our waitress to let her know that we didn't order those items. Overall the experience here was excellent but compared to x pot I still love xpot more.

To round it out, I got the deluxe nigiri set and this was SO fabulous. Really delicious, high quality fish, with inventive garnishes, but while still letting the fish itself shine. There was a specialty scallop nigiri on the menu as well with nori-infused French butter. The sushi chef heard me talking about all the things I was trying to choose between and just upgraded the scallop nigiri that comes with the deluxe set to the specialty one, with no added charge (which was a surprise!). We had to make a late reservation since nothing was available earlier. We tried walking in earlier and there was a 1 hour and 45 min wait. So we kept our reservation for 9:30. Upon entering, the manager and the host were very friendly and promptly sat us about 15 min early. The ambiance is really nice, but the music... is way to loud. You have to yell across a standard 4-seat tabletop to communicate. Since everyone has to yell, the crowd noise then amplifies this issue. I've never understood restaurants that try to be a nightclub. You can have music at normal levels to keep the energy without causing your patrons to yell. Once we were seated, the waitress came over within 5 minutes. She was friendly, but slow. After she offered us water, she was didn't return to the table for 20 minutes to take drink orders. After we ordered drinks, it was another 15-20 to help with the menus. We asked about portion sizes (shareable vs not shareable). We were told each plate was good for 2-4 people. I'm not sure what portion sizes she classified suitable for sharing... but no way were a majority of our dishes enough to share. We ordered edamame, which we were able to share. We really liked how they salted it, sometimes you get edamame and it's bland. We also ordered spicy tuna sushi (6 pieces), Komodo sushi rolls, pork chops (comes with 2 pieces), 2 orders of wagyu sliders (only 2 per order), hotate batayaki (3 scallops), shishito peppers (8 grilled peppers), and yakatori don (chicken bowl with rice and a soft egg). I have tried many Japanese restaurants and have been to Japan as well. Loved the food. To start with the good, we really liked the pork chops. They were on the rarer cooked side but delicious. The sliders were really good as well. Tons of flavor and each one was a decent size. These 2 items we felt were slightly over priced but felt we got a great food experience for the money. The shishito peppers were barely grilled and bland. They literally were no better than what my teenagers can do on the grill. Absolutely not worth $12 for peppers. Each sushi roll was decent but very small very overpriced for what you get. There is nothing special about either roll. I have gotten better spicy tuna in the city, that comes with 8 rolls for half of momotaro's price. The scallops were very fishy. I love scallops, and I wouldn't order these again... no way! $22 for such. Small serving that was too fishy compared to other establishments. My chicken bowl yakatori don) had a great presentation. That's where the dish ends. The toppings overpowered the chicken. The chicken tasted like plain boiled chicken that was so bland, literally no flavor to it. After we were done, the waitress came over about 15 min later, asking if we were interested in dessert. We told her no, we were full and ready for the check. We sat around for over 20 minutes waiting. I'm watching our server talking in the corner with 4 other servers. Laughing, on their phones, etc. after watching them for over 10 minutes I walked up to the front host and asked for a manager. The girl, was prompt, and very friendly. I discussed my dissatisfaction with the service. It was slow, terrible for the price point of the restaurant. The manager brought the check to me fairly quickly and apologized. She didn't ask what they could do to make it right, nothing. Not until after the bill was paid she conveniently asked what they could do. Little late at that point. Overall, we have been to many low and high end restaurants in Chicago... River North, West Loop,, Manhattan, Munich, etc... and this was about as bad of service as you can get. With all the options in the city, I don't recommend this one.

They have window seating since the weather wasn't permitting for us to sit on the rooftop. Our waiter was really sweet. He was kind of busy so he was forgetful a little bit but super sweet. And we celebrated my birthday there so he got me a little birthday treat for free. I would come here again for the sushi and lychee martini! The bar looks super cute to just sit out and drink and have a quick Hamachi roll. I'll be back! Separate restrooms of course it's kind of hidden in the back.

This place is expensive but the views and service make up for it…read more We each got to order our favorite drinks. Mine was a highball which really tasted like Tokyo, I was taken back on the first sip. We ordered the little gems, miso cod, edamame, duck yakisoba, hamachi sashimi, and chicken kaarage. Everything was good, and we didn't leave hungry so that's the good thing. I think you can go up there to get a drink and enjoy the views just the same, we went outside briefly for pix but recommend eating inside due to the windy conditions.
