Big portions so you and the group can get full, but I feel there are other options if you want higher quality food. Jajangmyeon noodles are usually my favorite but I would say you can pass on it here. Kinda loose sauce and overcooked noodles. Jokbal still had bones in it. Tteokbokki was drenched in cheese--not necessarily bad but it felt like a cheese dish with rice cakes instead of rice cakes with cheese. Pretty watery sauce too. Bulgogi was alright. Best thing at the table was the fried chicken. We chose garlic sauce, and they stayed pretty crispy for a long time.

Quality of the meat is good for the 90 minutes you get for all you can eat. No taking food home ofc. So eat it all and order what you can handle. The menu is simple and not overwhelming and there is no stale buffet of sauces or snacks. I like the cleanliness of this place. And the veggie mandoo or dumplings were good as well as the japchae ... parking on the street. Park Chicago app. It's just $2.50 an hour nearby.

Grew up going here with my family - it is such a fun place to go as a big group!! I really enjoy their food and the KBBQ experience, but I will say as a long time costumer, their prices have gone up significantly. The quality is still up there!

Drool. This might have been my favorite. Okay, it was my favorite. Seafood Pancake

What happened to this place? The entire vibe is just not it anymore. Service was lousy. The dumplings and tofu soup did come out fast, but they were room temp. Gross. The meat was tough and chewy. Where's the seafood pancake? Where's the menu for that matter?

This Korean BBQ is the worst, most disgusting restaurant I have ever visited. First off, the quality of the meat was terrible--it was cut too thick, tough to chew, and clearly not fresh. Secondly, the lettuce wraps were wilted and yellowing. The servers didn't bother to check how our everthing doing or if our food is ok ? And the servers she didn't change the grill for me. Furthermore--regardless of the size of your party--they will changed 18% gratuity, because they know their service is so so bad and lousy. When I complaint to the the owner and the manager . They don't care. when I told them I would leave a negative review, they said, "ok sure go ahead." Don't come this place; they are nothing but shameless money-grabbers.

I came to Daebak in Chinatown fully expecting one of Chicago's best Korean BBQ experiences--after all, it's frequently hyped as a top spot. And sure, the meats and flavors were right in line with its reputation. But unfortunately, the evening ended in total disaster. Shortly after our meal, on the drive back from the city to Northwest Indiana, I was forced to stop every 20-30 minutes--serious stomach issues hit me hard. The next day? My gut was in turmoil. When I dug deeper, I realized the food was consistently cooked in heavy seed oils, not healthier fats. This exposure triggered all the symptoms, and my friend who dined with me suffered the same fate. I know seed oils are common in many kitchens, but at a restaurant like this, I expect better standards and more transparency. Instead, what should have been a memorable BBQ night turned into a gastrointestinal ordeal. In short: do not recommend. If your body reacts badly to seed oils, steer clear of Daebak. It's really disappointing--and frankly, a bit dangerous.

This is probably the worse kbbq I've ever had. Very surprised for being in Chicago and the Chinatown location. They automatically charge 18% for gratuity and are VERY STRICT about the meat policy. We had a few pieces of pork belly left and the owner(?) said that we would be charged $15/pp if we didn't finish it. We were willing to pay $15 but per person is unreasonable as it's only $30 to eat here... I wouldn't come back and def don't recommend anyone else coming here either. Very unwelcoming atmosphere and p empty but we did come earlier than dinner.

Genuinely the best KBBQ i've ever has, portions are extremely generous and I like how they cook it for you, staff are extremely attentive and helpful. Fun spot to go with friends if you guys are KPop fans as they have tvs playing music videos everywhere and a "Kpop shrine" bathroom LOL I love how they are really generous with the banchan. Meat is always perfectly grilled and marinated. Highly reccomend

First time visiting with 2 toddlers and I'd have to say, we will definitely be back. Uhh when did it changed to AYCE?! $29.99 for adults and kids have to be measured upon entrance to determine price. Service was excellent! (probably since gratuity is automatically added to the bill) We got there around 5:30, and dinner service was starting to pick up already. Probably because it was a Friday night. Regardless, everything came out fairly quick which was very helpful when you have 2 hungry kids. Dumplings and fishcakes were a hit. Can't go wrong with beef brisket, but we also tried the soy marinated steak since it was noted as top seller. We would get it again. Kid approved too! FYI - one order of rice is huge so don't over order. The only thing is their egg casserole took forever to cook and they wouldn't give us foil to cover it so it would cook thoroughly. Even after an hour of cooking, the egg wasn't even cooked all the way so we couldn't risk giving it to the kids. All in all, family friendly spot. Adding this place to the rotation.

There is a lot this restaurant could improve on, the food quality and service has gone downhill since the last time we ate here. The meat was very fatty and several pieces were really hard to digest. We had spent an hour and a half, and unfortunately our waitress had only checked up on us once throughout that time. We had ran out of water and sides with our grill completely burnt to a char. For a restaurant we once used to frequently visit, this was a very disappointing experience.

Ask the Community - Daebak Korean BBQ

    Is it BYOB?

Definitely not. They won't let you bring any drinks in from outside.

The info for this restaurant shows that it has a wheelchair accessible entrance, but all I've read about it says that you have to go up some stairs to access the restaurant. Do they have an elevator with an accessible entrance on the ground floor?

No, they don't but Chinatown Square has elevator access nearby to get to the 2nd floor.

    Do they take a reservstion?

Yes but your reservation must be made before a certain time in the afternoon for that same day.

    Are they open on Thanksgiving?

    yes,definitely

Can you order just from the a la carte menu? Wanting bibimbap only for a late night dinner.

    yes

Is this place all you can eat?

If you're looking for a AYCE Korean BBQ, this is NOT the place. For a party of five, they gave us exactly the same amount of appetizer dishes - and, boy, they are small. The meat quality is good but the quantity is way too small for the money.

I've seen in a few pictures that there are TVs. What do they show on them?

    K-pop music videos

Is this somewhere where just one person could eat by themselves? Like instead of spending $30 on multiple servings of meat could I just get a small serving of like..bulgogi & samgyeopsal for myself?

They have entree portion bulgogi as lunch special. But open top BBQ requires 2 orders minimum, just like any other Korean BBQ places.

    How convenient is parking?

There is a public parking lot a couple minutes walk away. https://chicagoparking.spplus.com/Chicago-2155-South-Wentworth-Avenue-Parking.html

Are they open for lunch yet? does anyone know their phone number?

Starting April 5th,Wednesday for lunch. Dont know phone number

    Is this location byob?

They now have their liquor license, reasonable prices for beer and soju.!!

    Is that open at 5pm?

Soft opening 5pm and I think they closes around 10pm

Then I saw the KBBQ menu and all bets were off. I immediately pivoted and ordered the chef's tasting set, the Diweji, featuring pork jowl, pork collar, and pork belly, complete with an assortment of banchan. Zero regrets. And here's the part that should tell you everything you need to know: I am a certified radish hater. I avoid it whenever possible. Yet somehow, I found myself repeatedly reaching for the radish banchan and asking for more. Even the soup - which also featured radish - was absolutely delicious. If Perilla can convert someone who actively dislikes radish into a fan for one meal, that's saying something. The soju was exactly what I wanted with Korean barbecue: crisp, clean, and refreshing. I appreciate that it was neutral rather than overly sweet. The flavored, sweeter versions aren't really my thing unless the food is setting my mouth on fire. Speaking of spice, the wings were good: juicy, well-executed, and satisfying but I kept wishing they packed a little more heat. They weren't spicy at all, and a bigger kick would have taken them from very good to unforgettable. As for the meats, the pork jowl was gloriously rich and fatty, exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The pork collar ended up being my favorite: flavorful, tender, and with just the right balance of meat and fat. The pork belly was comforting and familiar - the classic KBBQ staple done well, with beautifully rendered edges and that indulgent quality that makes it a crowd-pleaser for a reason. The set also came with potatoes that were unexpectedly delicious. My only complaint? It was far too much food for one person. The service deserves its own mention. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The entire meal was delivered with efficiency and a smile, making a solo diner feel completely comfortable lingering and enjoying the experience. What I thought would be a quick happy hour stop turned into one of my favorite meals.

We ordered a seafood soup, seafood pancake, and a salmon crunch roll. We quickly realized that this was an atypical Korean restaurant experience as we did not receive banchan and there were not many traditional options on the menu. I think that should've been our cue to go, but we stayed and were very disappointed. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask multiple times when it was coming, and when the food finally came out, it was underseasoned and the texture was very off. The seafood pancake tasted deep fried and had chunks of imitation crab. It had the texture of an unrisen focaccia. The soup was tasteless, and the salmon roll was drenched in mayo and eel sauce. They also gave us a "special" hot sauce that tasted like just a mix of sriracha and Tabasco. Small highlights: the ambiance was nice; it seemed clean. Waiter was nice enough. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was quite a shocking meal.

Strike 1: We had an 8:00PM reservation for six, checked in at 7:50, and weren't seated until 8:20--despite plenty of open tables. Then we waited another 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Strike 2: We understood service might be slower with a large party nearby, but nonexistent is more accurate. Our server was taking shots with that table while we waited 20+ minutes for water. At the end of the meal, the same server had the nerve to ask us for a positive review in exchange for free meat. Suddenly, the good reviews for this place make a lot more sense. Strike 3: Management was somehow even worse. I asked to speak with a manager and had two different people come over claiming to be one. One was the second server taking shots with the large party--and was visibly intoxicated and slurring his words while handling a table with scissors and open flames. When I called it out, his response was, "I only did one shot." That's not an excuse; it's a liability. The "real" manager was at least pleasant, but ultimately could only remove the automatic gratuity. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Between the ridiculous wait times, nonexistent service, employees drinking on the job, and complete lack of accountability from management, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. And for a birthday dinner, it was especially unacceptable.

Everyone was absolutely fantastic. We could have been served 7-11 sushi at this point and I still would have left 5 stars. Food time. The kimchi pork dumplings were an absolute flavor bomb and that parmesan broth gave the dumplings a little extra kick that took it to the next level. Plus, I love when the dumpling wrapper has a little chew to it and isn't this soft mush that dissolves in your mouth. The beef fat frites were a nice treat as well. The Premium Steakhouse Set, in my opinion, is all two people need to enjoy this very special experience. Big fan of Chef Beverly, so had to check out Parachute Hi Fi when I was in town! Such an awesome,…read moreunique vibe for weeknight dinner! Some street parking available nearby. The space has such a fun, modern interior with records and other music decor lining the small space! Perfect spot for a date or small group. A live DJ was spinning various records during our visit, which I thought would be too loud, but was the perfect backdrop for our great dinner conversation. Staff were friendly, and didn't hang around too much, which was nice! The cocktails and food were the real deal! I had the Pineapple Upside Down Cake cocktail, which I thought would be SUPER sweet, but it was balanced and refined in the best way. Lovely take on a tropical cocktail. We shared the Korean Chicken Sandwich, the Burger, and the Bing Bread. Every single bite was delicious: fun take on a pizza with the Bing Bread, a fresh and light take on a Korean Chicken sandwich, and a deliciously savory burger with all my favorite toppings! The servings were perfect to share, so I'd grab a close friend, order up some drinks and plates, and just take in the chill vibe! So glad we stopped!

Run to Parachute HiFi! Chef Beverly Kim's recent appearance on America's Culinary Cup made me want…read moreto try her latest rendition of Parachute, Parachute HiFi. It's a more relaxed concept than the OG, serving Korean inspired bar food and inventive cocktails. While I liked the original Parachute, I am obsessed with Parachute HiFi. You must order the bing bread. It's what they are known for, and for good reason. It reminded me of a large doughy pizza roll, in the best way. I was also in love with the tapioca fritters with pepper jelly. The texture of the tapioca fritter was so unique and fun, and the pepper jelly was seriously out of this world. Bottle that stuff up and sell it! Whoever said the ttebokki pad Thai didn't taste like pad thai was wrong - it does and was a satisfying dish that I'd order again! I love twists on a classic and it was so smart to use rice cakes instead of the traditional noodles. The cocktails all sounded amazing, especially having names like pineapple upside down cake and black sesame. They got me intrigued for sure. Both cocktails were well balanced and enjoyable. Can't wait to return to try more from the menu (like that burger!)
