    I've been on a budae jjigae craving recently, and all I can think of when I think of what I want to eat... it's budae jjigae. My friend recommended this place, so I came to try it out! Sadly, we were the only party dining for a while on a Saturday night right before the Chicago marathon. The auntie that served us was so nice! I had the... surprise! Budae jjigae. But this time I felt fancy and added cheese to it. Note to future self: don't feel fancy next time. The cheese took up too much of the flavor. This bowl was the most generous bowl I've ever seen at a Korean restaurant - probably double the size of the usual ones! Sooo generous with every meat, the ramen, and the broth. I think it could've had a bit more flavor, but overall it was pretty yummy. Even the beef for the Dolsot bibimbap had suchhh a generous amount of bulgogi beef.

    The dine in experience is calm, and peaceful. The waitress is very attentive and alert! Very pleased by that ! In fact she's urging me to eat even now. Haha! Feels like home.

    I really enjoyed the food here and would come back for the food but the prices and service take away a star. I came here with a group of 5 and we had to ask for waters/teas multiple times. But the food is great! We got the Budae Jeongol and seafood pancake which I loved! We went on a Saturday for lunch and it was pretty empty which made for an enjoyable dining experience. I would recommend if you have a large group and want to share dishes. Otherwise, it is very expensive.

    We ordered the seafood pancake, grilled pork belly with kimchi, and japchae. The japchae was so impressive...a must try! All food tasted like "at home".

    Bright and clean restaurant with easy ordering through the QR code on each table. Service was also quick and our waitress was attentive. Food was delicious and I personally think the portions are great. Absolutely will be coming back to satisfy my cravings for Korean food.

    We ordered from Han Mi Jeong via uber eats, and the food arrived relatively quickly. We ordered bulgogi, kimchi pancakes, and army stew. We'd never had army stew before and weren't sure how spicy it was going to be, but it was just a pleasant warming broth with lots of fun ingredients mixed in. Overall it was good for the price, but the kimchi pancakes was a little underwhelming. Even when we put it in a pan to crisp it up it was still soggy.

    I have more food than these, to be honest, but I just couldn't find it since my phone is acting up My husband and I actually went here a month after they opened. The place was kinda in a quiet street, in my opinion. We just happened to pass by and intrigued by it. The service was amazing. The people were nice. The food was also fast, but at that time, we came not during lunchtime, so I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not. The food. I honestly couldn't care much about it. The taste is just not for me. Even my husband said the same thing. The beef was rather chewy. However, we also think maybe because they just opened. The price. I think the price is just okay. Everywhere is expensive anyway. Overall, we might try going here again. We are a food snob anyways.

    Its only been 1 week and we already went back to Han Mi Jeong for the kimchi ramen jeongol with two friends. We also had the japchae and cheese pancake. A few things changed. This time there were no more physical menus and they did not take our order. We submitted our order via Chowbus. Another difference- the banchan included kim chi. And finally, we also got tea instead of water when we sat down. I would have preferred water, but it looks like like they may charge for water. The kimchi ramen jeongol was very good, though not as amazing as I had hoped. I think i set my expectations too high after my last visit. It was hard to get a good understanding of the flavor because there was very little broth. Though we may have left the heat on too high because all the broth was gone by the end and we were scraping the food from the bowl. The japchae was excellent, my favorite dish of the night! And we surprisingly really liked the cheese pancake. I think they use American cheese. We liked the cheese pancake better than the seafood pancake we had last time. Overall my favorite dishes here have been the dolsot bibimbap, bulgogi, and japchae. We'll definitely come back again soon to try more of their dishes.

    One of the few Korean restaurants I could find that serves Jjajangmyeon. I haven't tried others yet, but the Jjajangmyeon here was pretty decent. It was a bit pricey, but quality was good- bouncy/chewy noodles, hard-boiled egg, and Daikon radish. They had other great staples like Japchae, Kimchi Fried Rice, and Army Stew. I really liked their Japchae, as the noodles were bouncy and better ingredients like wood ear mushrooms. Even though Army Stew, Jjajangmyeon, and Kimchi Fried Rice were flavorful, they were a tad salty. Especially the Army Stew, I thought the spam overpowered it. Easy pickup, but too far for us to order regularly.

    TL;DR: Nice chill spot to enjoy a warm burner top stew. Ambiance: a relaxing spot to chill and enjoy your meal. They had soft pop covers playing when we were there. I had been eyeing their jeongol (hot pot) for a bit so we went on a windy, almost-spring day. We ordered the gamjatang jeongol (pork bones, potato, and veggies), dukbokki, and japchae (came w beef). I was split with some in my party about the taste of the pork and would like to try a diff jeongol next time. Prices are a little more expensive for Korean food in the neighborhood. Service was quick and laid back but we were the first party there for lunch. They use a QR code for their menu and to order dine in items. But they walked a receipt to our table. Neighborhood parking available as well as paid street parking.

    I am so excited that there's finally a Korean restaurant in Bridgeport! Here's what I ordered: kalguksu with clams: the noodles were chewy so it had a good bite to it. The broth was alright, though I didn't really taste the clam flavor. Galbi tang: this was probably my favorite. However, the broth was a bit too oily from the beef fat so it had a lingering oily taste. There were vermicelli noodles, daikon, and short ribs in the soup. Jokbal: the pork trotters here was a bit dry and we had a lot of fatty pieces. I wanted more meaty pieces and it needed more flavor. It came with lettuce, garlic, daikon radish, jalapeños, and spicy sauce. Dukbokki: the chewy rice cakes came with fish cakes marinated in a spicy sauce. The service was fine however the server only came by once to fill our tea and we needed to quench our thirst from the spicy food. Overall the food here wasn't bad since they just recently opened. They have many other items on their menu that I want to try so I I will be back!

In addition, I would have thought that the food, cooked and uncooked, would at least come out one after the other, at a steady pace. Well ok, they did come at a pace, but a very slow pace, very non-continuing. E.g the rice came out only when almost all meat was gone. So we never warmed up to the mood of having a satisfying meal as we have minimal on the table at any time to work on. Not quite satisfying as a dining meal experience. However, and however, If you want to come and take your time to chat and chat for the whole night, it might be the place. Have fun and enjoy your time with minimal interruption. No rush at all! I usually prefer good food first and then reasonably attentive service. So. I'd have to pass on this place. There are other better Korean fare for food out there.

However, my experience at Perilla Steakhouse was hands down frustrating. Upon arrival, things were off to a rough start when I could barely hear the server over the music. I'm not someone who needs my glass refilled every minute either to be clear, but things did feel off with how slow our meal was paced out and the general disinterest the server had in us. For reference, we arrived early to a nearly empty restaurant that hadn't started peak dining time yet. I recognize the steakhouse is an upscale, chic take on traditional Korean dishes and I admire the chef for sharing his culture with the city. I also understand restaurants are going to be more expensive, the closer you are located in relation to downtown. Even so, in comparison to other nearby high-end restaurants, the price to portion ratio for our meal felt off. For example, our $16 dumplings included 3 dumplings on a plate. Yes, there's an argument for inflation and the cost of quality ingredients, but I argue that at this price point we shouldn't have left hungry either.

I love twists on a classic and it was so smart to use rice cakes instead of the traditional noodles. The cocktails all sounded amazing, especially having names like pineapple upside down cake and black sesame. They got me intrigued for sure. Both cocktails were well balanced and enjoyable. We all met at 8:00 at Parachute that sorta, kinda sometimes takes reservations; and we did not have one. Not to fear, as the greeter-seater got us three stools at the bar, which by the way, were the best seats in the house. Parachutes menu was all over the place but my son particularly pointed out their hamburger, and I (then) knew why: Living in Los Angeles for a k-billion years, my favorite hamburger was at a restaurant called My Father's Office, owned by Sang Yoon, a Korean chef. His off-beat burgers were sensational! The burger here at Parachute were equally off-beat, so I immediately ordered it. Damn, was it delicious! There were so many things going on here that my head was buzzing, trying to put all these flavors together? And yes, their burger rivaled Chef Yoons burger in L.A.! The burger came cut in two with each side resting in mayo and BBQ sauce. Wow, was it bizarre, offbeat, unique, atypical and the adjectives keep on going; but the adverb used on the burger was - MESSY, and I loved it. I didn't need napkins to stay clean, I needed a beach towel. The fries I ordered were fantastic along with their banana based ketchup which again was strangely weird but excellent. My OB Korean beer paired perfectly with my "Perfect Storm" hamburger. My son and his fiancee went with a salad and Pad Thai Noodles with shrimp which was equally as delicious as my meal. Parachute Hi Fi was definitely an anomaly that I enjoyed very (very) much. And, yes, I'll be back!

There were many dishes on the menu that looked like they were veganizable, so I will definitely try them when I return. The ambience was unremarkable, though the restaurant was very clean. You need to order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. The servers were very polite. The food is on the pricier end in the context of a somewhat characterless ambience and the fact that you need to order at the counter. My friend and I travelled for nearly an hour to get to this restaurant, and were quite pleased on the whole. We will definitely be back, and I look forward to trying more vegan/vegetarian options!
