I really like this smaller sized H-Mart, as it's super convenient. I like the artwork that's on the outside of the store. It's pretty well organized, the aisles I think used to be tighter - but they have opened up a little bit. They have a nice variety of ready made food right up in front, including now a fresh warm cooked korean sweet potato. Although it's not as large as the H-Mart in Niles, we've always been able to pick up the preferred items. We've bought fresh fruit and a lot of other basic Asian market staples from here, including some harder to find items like green tea pancakes. Checkout is pretty fast as well. Parking lot is smaller of course, probably more so since it's on almost triangular shaped intersection - however at least it's still easy to get in & out of since it is on the triangle intersection! read more

It's a smaller size than a typical HMart, with a lot less fresh-made Korean items than a typical one. For example, their selection of locally made stews and soups was lacking, and they don't have much prepackaged banchans either. But they had what we needed for my dad's jesa (mostly different fruit), and was open late enough (closing at 9pm) to be convenient. And because it has less people, checkout is simpler (easy in and out). read more

Ha, I guess it's been 8.5 years since I last stepped foot in here, which was during their grand opening week. Not that we are never here, it's just that while the wife is shopping inside, which is semi-regularly, I'm usually taking the opportunity to catch up on my smartphone readings in the car lol. Well, I walked in today for whatever reason. It's still the smallest Hmart in Chicagoland, but it is for sure quite handy to have around. It's actually bigger inside and with much more inventory than I thought just from outward appearance though fyi. Amongst other things, wife particularly likes to pick up veggies, tofu, and some beef products here due to their fresh pickings. The checkout area looks particularly congested but I'm sure the customers are used to it. I stop at the Super H Mart in Niles IL all the time as it's the closest one to where I live but it's nice having this nice having this mini version. They have most of the necessary items that the larger Super H has but it's much easier to find the things you need. My sister told me that they have the large jar of the "Fried Chili in Oil" that I love. This store is right by the intersection of Milwaukee & Sanders in Northbrook. Hmart is a very nice Asian grocery store in the Glenview/Niles area that has a massive inventory of specialty Asian food/groceries you can't really find in a normal grocery store like Jewel. They also have a large food court inside the store where I tried the beef bulgogi meal - it was delicious everything is made fresh to order - they have ramen, sushi, poke bowls, meat and vegetable entrees, rice etc. I think the only downside of Hmart is that it is pretty expensive but to be expected. I'd recommend visiting and trying their food court. read more

I went to hmart to look for a viral ice cream pop from tick tock. Unfortunately they did not have it, but while I was there I decided to walk around. I was impressed of all the fresh produce, variety of products, and unique items they had in stock. I found a stewed tofu and kimchi, which is really hard to find at your local grocer. The staff was super friendly and I guess I wasn't the only person that came to their store looking for the viral ice pop. The shopping carts wheels went in all directions. I could do a drift with my shopping cart. They also had fresh seafood that was still alive. I had allot of fun looking around. I actually bought a different ice pop and we enjoyed it on our ride back home. I would definitely to hmart again. read more

I like going to H-Mart. This Korean grocer has taken over many of the Asian supermarkets around Chicago. While many independents are still out there, it feels like H-Mart is becoming ubiquitous. This was one I hadn't been to before. After visiting my mother at her retirement community, I decided to stop since there is one around the corner. What I like about H-Mart is its variety. In particular, they have fresh fruits and vegetables you can't find in traditional grocers. Similarly, you can't find a better selection of Asian foods unless you go to a larger supermarket. They have a wide selection of frozen and fresh seafood, and it is an excellent place to get Sashimi grade fish. They also have a fish counter, but I found the selections were mainly whole fish (and I'm trying to figure out how to filet them) or shellfish. They don't have a butcher section, but they have a good selection of red meat and pork, both fresh and frozen. For those with American tastes and stomachs, their meats are beautiful but thinly sliced. You won't have an inch-thick T-Bone here. I see H-Mart much larger than a convenience store and more extensive than most independently owned markets. It is far smaller than a supermarket. I always find it fun to walk through an H-Mart because I always see something new. As with most, smaller grocers can't compete in price with a warehouse supermarket. But even though many items are priced higher here, I think the quality is also better. If you love Asian Culture and Cuisine and haven't been to an H-Mart before, go. read more

When you need to run in and pickup a few items - this HMart location In Glenview is just the thing. When we went on a Saturday afternoon, the store wasn't very crowded, lots of parking spaces in the oddly shaped lot. However no one was manning the fish counter and there were no fish on the ice displays. We found our snacks, our vegs, our chips, our sauces and every thing else we required. This location is small and has all the necessary items for your Korean or Asian food fix. If you have the time, go to the Korean food Disneyworld that is Super HMart in Niles. read more

Most of the new stores are huge and lavish and this one is more like a Neighborhood Grocery Store and I like that. It's still nice, and I stop by here whenever I happen to be in this neighborhood. This H Mart is super tiny, and located right at the intersection off of Milwaukee. Parking is quite tight and difficult, and getting in and out can be a little tricky with the oncoming traffic from both ways (no lights). You won't be doing the heavy bulk of your grocery shopping here, but if you're passing by and you are in need of something quick (such as snacks, condiments, or a produce item), this can be a convenient place to stop on by. If you're looking for a place to buy some authentic Asian groceries, then shop no further than this Korean grocery chain: H-Mart. That is if it wasn't hundreds of miles away... Although, this isn't the biggest or the best H-Mart that I have been too, it was the only one we got to visit this weekend in Chicago. Inside the store, we just browsed around different sections, picked up some kimchi and some side dishes. There were also some samples near the refrigerated meat section near the back, but we had to loop around a few times before the grilled chicken sample was ready to be eaten. The real winners are the marinated bulgogi and chicken lined against the right wall in the left corner. These are just absolutely delicious! These marinated meats can be easily cooked if you just fry it a bit in oil until it turns golden brown. Just try to keep your mouth from watering too much before the meat is fully cooked. On our way out by the check out area, we picked up a to-go pack of kimbap which was affordable priced at $4.99 for 2 rolls of 10 piece. These would make good lunches if it was only a few hundred miles closer. Upon check out, we asked the cashiers if this place had a cooler and some ice, but unfortunately there was a slight language barrier to which neither of the cashiers knew what we were asking for. This H Mart is the 4th store in the Chicagoland area from the Korean supermarket chain that just opened on October 15th, 2015. With an official address in Glenview, but sometimes difficult to find on the GPS without putting in Northbrook instead, this store is not difficult to locate when you pass by it on Milwaukee Ave. (at the former Glenview Deli & Liquor). In terms of selection and size, this store is more like the Schaumburg location than the huge locations in Naperville and Niles. This store only covers the grocery potion without extra electronics stores, beauty stores, or food court. With that said, this H Mart does carry a good selection of oriental vegetables, meat, fish, fruit, and snacks. Due to the size of the store, there is not as much selection as a full size super store and there are a few less items than the Schaumburg location, but items are arranged in a very compact manner so that there is still no need to go to a store in the city for your needs. It carries a smaller selection of Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc. items in favor of Korean items that are covered in the weekly circular, however it does carry all the essential ingredients needed to cook most Asian dishes. All the items I saw were fresh and well presented with good prices. In particular, these were some of my impressions: - Seafood section is compact, but they still do carry a good variety of fish and packaged seafood (salted jelly fish, mussel, squid, scallops, fish head, etc. as well as live crab). They did efficiently use the space to offer quite a generous selection for a store of this size. - Asian pears, yams, fuyu, fresh ginger, fuji apples, and specialty produce are all available at this location. - Great selection and prices on rice, especially when on sale. Probably nowhere that is consistently lower that carries a quality selection. - Carries the specialty meats such as pork belly, ox tail, beef hind, beef tendon, etc. In general, a great addition to the area to grab high quality Asian ingredients at a great price. The only real criticisms I can give are that I wish it were a larger location (the Super locations are amazing and have nearly everything I can think of, but I can't really fault them for that since they've brought convenience) and the parking is really too little for the amount of business they'll get once everyone realizes a new location has opened here. read more

Yay! Another H Mart has opened. This one is a lot smaller than the one in Niles. No food court, very limited parking spaces, long check out lines, not many hot foods (they have kimbap tho) and very very crowded on weekend. I got there Saturday morning at 10AM and had to wait a few mins for a parking spot. They have someone there directing traffic / parking. Inside, they have the usual veggies / fruits you would find at any Korean grocery store. The fresh seafood place is small too. But they have your typical shrimp, live lobster, blue crabs, fish and clams. Even though it is a lot smaller in space, they carry almost everything you would buy at the other H Marts. I came across this place by happenstance. I was going to Liquid Fusion Cafe in Northbrook and saw this grocery store. I had heard about H-Mart through their recent opening in Chicago. Thus, I was curious about it. I went in only to explore and browse through their items. I had no plans to shop. I was impressed by their variety of groceries and food items they sell. I saw a lot of good items I would be interested in buying. I enjoyed browsing through seafood and meats section. I also saw some sweet snacks that I was interested in. I can't remember the items' names right now. I did buy a Red Bean rice cake which was interesting in taste. Next time, I'd like to go here to do proper shopping. I like Hmart but thought this one seemed a bit small. Selection was limited in general and the aisles are really narrow. I did buy three oranges for $1 total and some korean seaweed which is always delicious. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here though. read more

Terrible experience, all three ladies at the checkout were rude to me as I walked in (merely to ask a question) with my service puppy - who was wearing a CLEARLY stated "Service Dog" leash. I love this Hmart because it's so close to work! This is a smaller version of the original one in Niles, which is gigantic compared to this. This mini Hmart doesn't have a food court, but they do prepare fresh Korean sushi rolls, japchae and tempura etc daily (usually comes out after 12:30). Due to the size, the selection are fairly limited, but they do sell everything the original one sells, just less brands and variations. They do have a seafood deli where you can buy all kinds of fish or crab. I like this location because it super convenient to grab groceries you need or a quick cheap lunch. They have plenty of parking spots available in the lot. Although I have never been here during weekends or night time, so it might be more crowded then. I don't see myself shopping for a whole week worth of groceries here due to the limitation. It's more like a convenient store than a grocery store to me. read more

Ate here for a midday lunch. Within about 30mins the eating area was packed. Arrived around 11:45am. This week they had a special lunch special and each of the stalls. A specified item for $6.99. I chose the shrimp tempura udon noodle soup from the sushi stall. It had a good amount of noodles and 2 shrimp tempura. Decent and eatable for a food court meal. New Hmart in town! I heard about it thru Facebook. It is much smaller than the super h-Mart including its parking lot. The parking lot is slanted and reminds me of the Joong boo market one. The store size would be comparable in size to the one in Schaumburg. Because it's new, everything is fresh I think. I only went one time as it just opened and they were still filling up their inventory. I was looking for a shaoxing wine but maybe they ran out already. There is no food court. There are some prepared foods though. The checkout counters are like the ones in Schaumburg; they are all on one horizontal counter. It was quite busy already even though I went on a weekday afternoon! My 3 stars are more for indifference for now. read more

I originally went into H Mart to buy Plum Wine. It's not available in my area. I really wanted to like this market when I shopped there. I even came back a second time hoping I would have a better experience than my first visit. I thought that they had a decent selection of Korean brand items that I could not get from Amazon or my local grocery store. BUT....... my main issues with the place were???? 1. You may get ran over in that parking lot. 2. No one is going to smile or be very friendly to you in that place. Not the employees or the customers. They just aren't. No smiles. They just were so unpleasant. 3. A lot of the food is not fresh. Check your expiration dates folks!!! After reading some of the other negative reviews, I will never go back to that place. Pretty sketchy stuff. So what I am saying is, if you want a bunch of cool looking, stale, expired stuff from Japan or Korea? Then The H Mart is the place to be. If you are in the mood for a game of frogger in the lot. Get the heck over there!!! Otherwise go with another market for the serious stuff like raw fish and meat. Very small H Mart in comparison with the one in Niles. Very limited assortment of produce and prepared food. Aisles are narrow and even the shopping carts are much smaller. It is better than nothing, but even on a week day, it was unwieldy and challenging to get through the aisles. No food court. It was almost impossible to squeeze out of the store after filling a small shopping cart. I think we'll just go to the one in Niles. read more

Really nice job of remodeling this old stripmall liquor store. However, the actual square footage is so minimal, that it makes trying to shop there extremely difficult. It's like navigating an obstacle course. When the narrow aisles are full of customers with their shopping carts, it's like the Kennedy at rush-hour. ( I actually witnessed a couple of head on collisions !) Parking lot is far too small to accommodate the number of shoppers , even at non-peak hours. Lines to enter the lot are backed up on Milwaukee and Sanders Avenues. Selection of produce fish and meat is very nicely displayed however very limited due to spatial constraints. Same is true with any number of groceries & frozen products. All in all , really a beautiful little store however I will continue to shop at the Niles store. read more

I went there because I love eating Korean, Chinese and I love their level of spice so today I decided to go to the one in Niles I already went to the one in Chicago love that one this one doesn't have a variety of take out like the one in Chicago but I chose a rice cake combo it is pretty good nice and spicy and the Sushi is spicy too. The store is clean lots of fruit and ready made dishes to choose from but I didn't see mochi. read more
