Banana egg rolls in carmelized brown sugar
    Gerry T.

I've been vacillating between a 3 or 4 stars for Ian Mae. This is a mom and pop place and although certain Items are consistent - like their rice cakes (puto), lumpia Shanghai (mini pork egg rolls), Turon (banana egg rolls), pork show pow (large baos) - their other items, not too much. The veggie egg rolls have been lacking veggies or seemed a bit soggy. As for their hot meals, they couldn't compare in taste to Ruby's fast food. But I still keep coming back for more, due to my sweet tooth. Maybe I'll just concentrate on their desserts and that'll help me manage my expectations.

NOT RETURNING TO THIS PLACE !! let me start by saying I'VE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER for years. today like any other days , I went to get some pork bbq because that's what ive always gotten from them along side a veggie egg roll. I went home and took a bite and to my surprise the pork bbq was SO DRY ( Dryer than a chicken bbq) that I thought it was Chicken Bbq! I called and told who I think the owner is about it and she told me to come back. When I showed her the bbq, she confirmed that it was pork and I told her that it's not because it's so dry. I even showed her the meat. I asked if I could grab another piece that might've had more fat so it could balance the dryness of the meat and she said, " we can't do that because it's not our fault." And to my response, it is your fault. First and foremost you're responsible of letting returning customers KNOW if certain recipes are no longer the same because customers like myself come back because I know what to expect and what I'm getting. The owner later on said in front of another customer that they did TOOK OF THE FAT which again is changing the old recipe. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED about the poor customer service from a place I've gone to for years. I am NOT GOING BACK to that place knowing that they can't even accommodate a patron request for something that is their fault . Anyways, DONT GET THEIR HELLA DRY PORK BBQ! You're better off grabbing a chicken , it'll be more juicy than the pork.

I politely questioned why several traditional Balkan cookies in the bakery were all labeled "Serbian," when many of these desserts are shared across Balkan cultures, including Bosnia, and are not exclusively Serbian. Instead of simply discussing my concern, the employee who made the signs approached me aggressively and asked if I "had a problem with it." She then told me she didn't care if I ever bought the cookies. I spoke with the manager expecting a more professional response, but unfortunately, his attitude was no better. He raised his voice and told me he didn't care whether I purchased anything there either. I left feeling humiliated, discriminated against, and completely unwelcome. Regardless of anyone's opinion about how these products should be labeled, there is absolutely no reason to treat a customer this way for respectfully raising a cultural concern. After this experience, I will not return to this location, and neither will my family. Management should seriously address how customers are spoken to and treated.

Everything I've bought has been fresh, and the prices are honestly some of the best I've seen in a long time. Some of the deals I found were amazing: strawberries for just $0.98 a pack, a large pack of raspberries for $3.98, chicken breasts for $1.98 per pound, and ribeye steaks for $9.99 per pound. With grocery prices being so high these days, stores like this are such a huge help. The only downside is that weekends are extremely busy, so I'd recommend going first thing in the morning if you can. Even with the crowds, it's absolutely worth the trip. Great quality, unbeatable prices, and a fantastic place to stretch your grocery budget!

The wife says we came here once before many years ago but I don't remember it.  They've been at it here for 53 years since 1972. Normally, we avoid it due to the madhouse scene that is usually here (like when traffic can't even enter the parking lot from busy Milwaukee Ave because the parking lot is overflowing lol).  Well, it was -3F on a frigid Friday night and we were across Milwaukee Ave at the Jewel, and it was eerily quiet in Jewel, and we thought it was as good a time as any to also visit Jerry's lol. Well, it was relatively calm, and we found a close by parking spot, but there were still plenty of shoppers in Jerry's.  Their inventory is huge and truly impressive as are their prices.  No wonder this place is so super popular.  We picked up some cherries for $2.49 per lb and strawberries at a promo price of $0.79 per 1 lb container.  I would say 4.5 stars for our visit tonight, but really on their normal super-crowded shopping basis, I would still say 3 stars overall.  I don't personally think the hassle factor of shopping here for fruits and vegetables is worth it for the savings and the variety of offerings, thus the 2 star deduct.  But you have to decide for yourself, and apparently for many others, Jerry's is well worth the trip, and kudos to Jerry's for that and continued good luck and success to them.
