My daughter had eaten most of this and took the goldfish out the little container but it was all so cute!! Love the rubber ducky!

The lobster roll was sooooooo delicious!!! It was perfection! The sweet lady behind the counter was so nice and brought the lobster roll to the table after the other food had come out, she's a gem! My daughter's kids meal was so cute with the little ducky! I'm sad I didn't find this place sooner! I'm definitely coming back and going to be recommending this place!! Wow

The seafood at Don's Dock is on point. No misses so far. Probably my favorite thing was the blackened cod meal. Staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions. Seating is a bit tight, so coming at lunch may not be ideal if you want to eat in place. I've been several times and will continue returning. Wonderful local spot.

The gift and curse is in the simplicity of the menu. On one hand everything is fresh, not overcooked, and the seafood portions are ample. My clam chowder was delicious and none of the fish was greasy. However I found catfish in my order, the food was utterly flavorless, the fries need to be cooked in a different oil , and I wish there were better sides other than rice , broccoli, corn. It wasn't bad. But it's not my first go to for fried seafood on the go.

Outstanding fried fish with great fries and hush puppies! Service was awesome...this was our first visit and she walked us through the menu and helped us make some choices. Cute little place with great pictures on the wall, clean restrooms and easy parking.

A neighborhood staple for many years, this family owned seafood market and eatery does not disappoint. We used to order from Dons Dock multiple times when we lived in the area so since we were in Des Plaines ,we decided to stop in for a late lunch. The staff is super friendly and their food is mainly homemade recipes. We ordered the Fish n Chips meal which came with fries and coleslaw. My wife had a small order of jambalaya since she is gluten free. The food is cooked while you wait and is brought to your table. As we were waiting there was a constant flow of customers. The food portions are perfect and everything tasted great just like we remembered. They must be doing something right since they have been open since 1951. Next time in the Des Plaines area, stop in for some fresh seafood ..you will be hooked!

We haven't been here in a while and I dropped in to pick up a carryout sandwich for the wife. She had one of their March specials - a fried Alaskan cod sandwich for $8.75.  It was still moderately busy with both carryout and dine-in patrons at 2pm on a Wednesday.  Wife said the sandwich was tip-top fresh and delicious and a good deal, and good deal is not an oft said comment from her! They also don't fix what ain't broke here - the very casual interior and exterior is unchanged from my last visit a while ago.  Only the prices have kept up appropriately with time.

I HAVE FOUND A NEW FRIED FISH EATERY AND I LOVE IT! Let me tell you. Look at the menu before you go because there are so many choices and options and they're all delightful. Don't be afraid to try something new either. Everything is amazing there. OK, where to begin? Ah - walk in. It's not that huge, but enough to fit about 10 tables. It's a long building rather than wide, so if you eat inside, you might be close to your neighbor. They also do take out. When you order, you pay and wait for your food at your table (or at the counter) and pick it up. It's like a fast casual but not fast food. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, is friendly and courteous. You get your food, and eat! I ordered the fried Maryland Crab Cakes and it came with fries, a roulade? sauce, and coleslaw. I also ordered a quarter pound of the fried clam strips and my partner ordered the grilled scallops plate. Everything was fantastic there. The service, the food, all of it.

This classic Des Plaines seafood joint is a true neighborhood treasure. We used to live nearby and visit whenever we are back in the area. Serving mostly take-out but they do have a few tables indoors and picnic tables outside. Service is always outstanding. I was given many gluten free options and chose jambalaya which was loaded with fresh vegetables and had great flavor. My husband enjoyed the fried fish and chips his go to favorite.

    Is this byob optional?

It is more of a carry out place although there are a few tables where you can eat inside, I don't see any reason you couldn't bring your own!

The portions were large and honestly, easy to share. The fried calamari and shrimp and the shrimp scampi was SO GOOD. The cook was amazing, the shrimp were huge and had so much flavor. Something I was surprised by was the catfish. Holy crap. So much flavor and loved that it came with rice and potatoes. Get it. Just get it. The employees were efficient and helpful. If I'm in Chicago, I'll have to go back. Im dreaming of the fried calamari and shrimp combo and that catfish.

Well, this is an update to the review I made 4 years ago. Today was a better experience all around…read more We arrived around 2pm and it was not crowded at all. They added an enclosed outdoor seating area, Thats lets you enjoy the breeze or sun, but protects you from the rain. It used to be a tent, so this is definitely nicer. My wife and I were seated immediately. The server quickly brought us water and garlic bread. I really like that they give you 5 fairly big pieces of garlic bread for only two people. Nice touch. We were not in a hurry and couldn't decide what we wanted so we started with the calamari salad. $29, but it's huge and chock full of those calamari guys. Lettuce is always crisp and has everything I like in it (olives, eggs, carrots, artichoke, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and romaine lettuce). We were almost full just from the salad alone. I ordered a grouper sandwich (not fried), and my lovely wife ordered the Scottish salmon plate, which comes with potatoes and grilled vegetables. My sandwich came with coleslaw and fresh cut fries. They switched to fresh cut since my last visit, and this was an upgrade. My sandwich was great, and huge too. Could not finish it. Wife's meal was a humongous slab of salmon. The veggies now come on a smaller plate, but that's okay, given the size of the fish. Service was a tad slow, but like I said, we weren't in any hurry. Total tab was $100, with tax and that pesky 3% service fee. I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. It's not a place I can go every week, but when I can splurge, and have a taste for fresh seafood, this is the best around.

We tried the Boston Fish Market for my birthday dinner this year, and had a pretty good experience…read more It was on a Wednesday and the restaurant was not busy. We were seated promptly in the formal dining room which was nicely decorated. Our semi-circular booth was spacious and comfortable. There were different sections in the restaurant that were more casual, tailored to the different tastes of the clients. Overall, food was delicious and portions were huge. I had a Boston Clam Chowder and a Gulf Grouper as the main. I would usually order a salad, but I didn't this time as each entrée came with a large plate of homemade roasted vegetables and wild rice. The Boston Clam Chowder had real pieces of clams in it. However, it was just lukewarm. My grouper looked great and tasted flavorful, but it was somewhat over-cooked (and therefore not tender), which was unfortunate. My wife had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and an order of Stuffed Flounder that had crabmeat sandwiched in the fish. She absolutely loved her choices. Our daughter had a Charbroiled Walleye and liked it too. Her only disappointment was the garlic bread being hard and dry. Our daughter and I each had a Chardonnay Stags Leap which was good, while my wife had a Virgin Mojito and truly enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the highlight of the night was the slice of tiramisu that our friendly and professional server Greg brought to me! It had a lit candle for my birthday, and Greg teamed up with two other waitresses enthusiastically sang me a happy birthday song! The tiramisu was excellent, creamy and not too sweet. I am not a dessert person but really appreciated this. I have a suggestion for the restaurant: as the portions were so large and each of us brought home half of it, it would have been nice that they make the portion 40% to 50% smaller, and lower the average price of $40 per entrée accordingly. It might help attract more customers. Just my two cents. All in all, I had a lovely birthday dinner at Boston Fish Market. Ambience was good, and service was outstanding. We will certainly return again.

It seemed like the…read moreperfect option for our party of 8 being relatively centrally located and getting lots of recs. Overall, husband and I found Boston Fish Market a letdown. The price to value seemed very imbalanced and this is coming from someone who is quite accustomed to city prices. The menu is huge, IMO too big. It would be great if they trimmed it down to do fewer things flawlessly. This place is great for big groups, the room we were seated in is built for parties of 8+. We started out with the garlic bread on our table and ordered the appetizer platter. The platter was fine, but the addition of guac was odd and it wasn't very good. I ordered the lobster roll and my husband the mahi. They only serve the lobster roll hot, but I generally prefer cold. The bun was a pretzel roll, which I didn't love. They should put the butter on the side, so the whole thing felt dry. They served it with tartar sauce, which was an interesting choice. Husband was unimpressed with his mahi. Service started off strong and then fell off a cliff. Our server was attentive when we needed to order and then absent through pretty much the rest of the meal. We asked a busboy for more water and someone went to find our server to get our check. Basic things like ketchup for fries wasn't even considered. Maybe the Des Plaines location is better, this one didn't live up to the hype or price.

Family owned and like many others have stated, they treat you like family. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by a butcher who was more than helpful and kind. My husband and I are on a new health journey so I've often times asked MANY questions and he was patient and helpful with every answer. Even with him knowing I didn't have cash and had to leave and come back. Needed some quality burgers and brats for a friend's grilling birthday bash. Picked up beer brats upon recommendation (and a crowd favorite), Mediterranean turkey burgers (super good and I enjoyed them more than my husband did if I'm to be honest), prime rib burgers (currently vacuum sealed in the freezer), skin on hot dogs (best ever), cheddar and jalapeño burger (another fave!), and maybe a couple others I can't recall. Everything so far- fresh and from what I've frozen, has been delicious. We typically shop at Paulina Market so it's been wonderful to find a shop closer at the same level (in our opinion).
