I live very close to Omega, right on Golf Road in Des-Plaines, easy to stop by right after you get off I-294 highway.
As we walked into Omega, we were welcomed into an atmosphere of home, with couches and flowers, as you walk in further, you see their pastry and bakery section, where all their cakes are presented to you as you walk in and it makes you say oh my, look at all these delicious desserts. The fresh aroma of all the food and pastries makes your stomach ache for food! you can smell all the baked goods, cakes, cookies, brownies, etc... it attracts the customers in to buy more of their food before they leave or right when they enter!
Their was many people at Omega at the time we went, it was about dinner time where everyone wants to eat a good meal for dinner, many families came and the hostess was really nice to greet everyone and show them to their table.
We were then greeted by the hostess asking how many of us are dining today, I went with 4 of my friends David, Danny, Christian, and Me. They were pretty busy but still had time to take care of everyone which is really good. We asked if we can sit in a booth and they were really polite about it and sat us in a booth. Right as we sat down and got comfortable the server brought the menus and asked what we wanted to drink immediately, and brought their normal free appetizers, different types of breads that were really good!
We were looking around as the waiters passed by us and looking at the other tables, it seemed like people were really enjoying their food. The dark theme of the place makes it feel welcomed and feels like you're dining at a five star restaurant but your really not. The organization of the table was pretty exquisite and professional for their type of restaurant, everything was in its place.
As we were ordering, some the cakes and desserts were way too overpriced, although they are really good, and made at the store directly, the prices should be lower. The waiter came back about 3 minutes later to take our order, as we were still selecting our items, the waiter seemed in a rush, and was interrupting us while we were talking about what to get, halfway through our order it seemed it was the waiters time to go home although this is very unprofessional a different waiter took over who was very pleasant and nice and very apologizing for the switch up, other than that we were taken care of and set, he kept refilling our drinks and we were satisfied.
15-20 min wait and our food finally came
I ordered a cheesy chicken quesadillas that came with lettuce, guacamole, pico de-gallo, and sour cream on the side. The lettuce was a bit bulky and too much, as I was looking at the tortillas, it seems some of them were overcooked and under cooked, uneven pattern and does not match the decor of the plate. As I took the first bite, the quesadilla was a bit crispy and filled with a flavorful blast of Mexican cheese blend and grilled chicken.
Some of the quesadillas were way overcooked and it was, the tortilla was really hard and crunchy, and it was a bit unprofessional cooking, everything else was good, the guacamole was perfect and made your tongue tingle to its tanginess. All my friends enjoyed their food, although they found minor errors like their burger was overcooked and the mashed potatoes were not mashed, it was a ball of potatoes.
The price for this meal was on the spot good, it made me full and I still had a lot left over for later, the grand total of this meal was $8, the chicken was $1.50 extra. A lot of other places you can pay 8 bucks but it won't get you that full, at Omega they will get you full and will have extras to take home, due to their appetizers and soups they bring you before your meal comes, you get stuffed instantly.
While we were finishing our food we had empty plates and the busboy came politely and asked if he could take our plates, he was gentle and pleasant, clearing the table for us to eat more and finish our main dish, after we were done the server saw that we were done and came over and asked if we need anything, boxes etc... bags to carry out, and he came back straight away after we said yes, and we asked if we could get separate checks and he said no problem.
The overall experience at Omega restaurant was really good and enjoyable, a good warming feeling of home, and you get to dine in with your friends at a low cost. I give this restaurant a 4 / 5 stars I recommend everyone to come and try Omega if you haven't already done so, you can save money and dine for less and get good quality food! read more
