We were in the area and someone recommended this restaurant for breakfast. I love the high ceilings and plenty of windows with natural lighting. The restaurant is decorated very nicely, they put a lot of thought in colors and decor. Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable, I appreciated her input. I ordered coffee and my cup was never left empty. They have a really sweet man who comes around and tops off your coffee cups. They have specials and a kids menu too. The bathroom latches are way too high for a child to lock the door, but they do have a fold down changing table in the woman's restroom. (Not in the stall) They do have high chairs for toddlers. I actually need a chair to rest my leg on because I cannot bend my right knee. Our waitress was very nice about it... however a man came up to me and told me it was a fire hazard to have a chair in the aisle... so what about the kids high chairs? The chair was completely pushed under the table... so I had no choice but to put my foot up on the other side of the booth (which I was avoiding). Also the booth cushion is not attached so when you lean on it it comes up... making it very hard for a handicapped person like me to get in and out of a booth. other than that our experience was enjoyable. My husband ordered the corned beef hash breakfast. It came with Corned beef Hash, 2 eggs (he ordered his scrambled) diced potatoes or hashed browns (he picked diced potatoes) and toast or pancakes. That is a lot of food for him, so I am going to eat his pancakes. I also ordered two eggs over easy off the sides menu. The portion sizes are large. Our server (as well as everyone else on staff) was incredibly attentive with coffee refills. I don't think I ever got below half empty before a refill was offered. We used to frequent at their Skokie location as I grew up there, and am so excited to hear they they reopened closer to us now. We came by on a Sunday for brunch and were told there was a 10-15 minute wait but we were seated pretty quickly. Upon being seated our waiter came by and took our drink orders, I had their special orange juice and it was delish! For my entree I got their Annie's special with a side of penciled, bacon, sausage, eggs and a side of hash brown. I love their hash browns because they always come out crispy and not burnt or overly salted. Their pancakes are always so light and fluffy. I usually go for a skillet or one of their omelets but kept in simple on this day. The food came out shortly after and we enjoyed our experience. The restaurant was bright with lots of windows compared to their old restaurant where it felt more like a diner. So great to see that the same family still owns it. Came here at 10am on a Saturday morning. 7 of us (including 2 toddlers) were seated promptly. Incredibly friendly service and our orders were taken fairly quickly, but we didn't feel rushed at all. The portion sizes were anywhere from acceptable to VERY generous :) - the bowl of oatmeal in particular blew us away. The room was bright and welcoming, and we felt very comfortable. Not too noisy, and no music playing (which was actually nice!). If I had to pick two minor constructive pieces of criticism, it would be that the chilaquiles were a bit spicy and that we'd love real cream for our coffee instead of packets. Wide variety of breakfast and lunch foods - with two sets of specials! I really like their savory foods - omelets and skillets are great with fresh veggies, and the ham (off the bone) is superb and flavorful. There's a nice variety of kids menu items also. When it comes to sweets, I find the pancakes to be too sweet, and a little stingy on the fillings. For example, when I asked to add blueberries into my pancakes, I could count the number of blueberries in there, and many bitefuls lacked berries. However, the Jr. Apple pancake is phenomenal - packed with tons of thinly sliced apples - and is big enough to feed a family. Stopped by for a weekend brunch. The place was pretty busy so it took ~20 minutes to get seated. Unfortunately, there was a sign on the door that said they were short staffed. Our coffee came out quickly but we waited almost an hour for our entrees. I understand they were short staffed but this was still quite awhile for 2 entrees. Nevertheless, the dish was excellent and definitely deserved the 5 stars. Hope they can get the shortage sorted out because their food is great! read more

Yelp to the rescue! Hubby and I were in the northern Chicago suburbs and wanted to try a local restaurant for breakfast. I went to Yelp for suggestions since I wasn't familiar with the area and didn't want a chain spot. Yelp helped me find a winner. We walked in and were seated immediately. I started with the salted carmel cappuccino and it was yummy. Hubby just did regular coffee and he was happy with that. The price was good and you got large portions. We weren't able to eat it all...who doesn't love leftovers? I got Annie 's combo with scrambled eggs, bacon, French toast, and bacon-- all of that for $13! Hubby got build your own omelet, hashbrowns, and pancakes. We were stuffed and happy. The service was great from beginning to end. Everyone was nice and attentive. Had brunch today with my mom and brother outside Al fresco since the weather was nice. We seated ourselves and was greeted promptly and ask we wanted some coffee right away.Dee was our waitress and I've had her before inside when I was with my wife. Anyways I had the Annie's #2 combo with two eggs two bacon and sausage with pancakes it was delicious, my brother had the lunch special of fish and chips with soup and warm bread he says was also delicious, as for my mom she had the tuna avocado fruit salad which was very healthy options due to her heart condition. Breakfast was awesome here! 1) I can't remember the waitress' name but she was probably the best waitress I've had in months out of all the places I've been. She was attentive, super sweet, and honestly made the experience so nice eating here for the first time. You could see she was a fan favorite because even a little girl walking in was enthusiastically waving to our waitress. 2) Came at 9 am and place was not yet busy so if you don't want to wait, come early enough. Started getting busy about 10/10:15 am when we were wrapping up. 3) Food was great! Only got a picture of the stuffed French toast because it was beautifully played and my best friend said it was delicious. I thought - maybe it's a second location? We went in and immediately was greeted with a friendly face. It's been so many years, I don't expected to be recognized and wasn't. Not a big deal. The location is convenient at the corner of Kensington and Wolf (where the former Photo Hot Dog's was) and has a big private lot. The restaurant is big and open, lots of windows so it's bright and inviting. There's a mix of booths and tables, seating options for all. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food - always hot and delicious. Eggs are always well prepared and cooked as ordered. My husband enjoys ordering their skirt steak and eggs. Always cooked as ordered - med. rare with sunny side up eggs and fresh diced potatoes. Greek toast buttered. They have this delicious jelly served with the toast. So good! I like to mix things up. My favorite is the corned beef omelette with mozzarella and shredded hash browns. I've had their Cobb salad with chicken and blue cheese. Their Annie's Combo #2 is my son's go-to order. My younger son loves their waffles and a side of their crispy bacon (which we devour). Their bacon is just the right combination of crispy and chewy - I don't know how they do it, but it satisfies everyone in our family because we are always divided on crispy vs chewy. I love trying new items on their menu because I haven't had anything that wasn't tasty. My friends and I go to Annie's for a meet up to do weekday ladies lunch. The owners are so nice, they're welcoming and friendly. The servers are good and hard working. The busboys are always in the move keeping glasses and mugs refilled, tables cleared off, extra napkins handy, and even passing out take out containers for leftovers. Give this place a try! Came in on a whim, by a recommendation of a friend. This is located in the former location of what used to be Photos Hotdogs. If you grew up in the area that in itself brings back all of the nostalgia. The interior is clean, and adorable. We grabbed breakfast this morning at 9:00 and while there was a good amount of people seated, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. A nice change from hectic crowded breakfast spots where you can't even hear the people you are dining with. Our server was super nice, polite and friendly. The menu was ample and we decided to split an omelette breakfast. The veggie omelette did not disappoint. It was ample size to share and included so many veggies. The breakfast potatoes were tasty! Perfect size and saltiness. Lastly the pancakes were perfection. They where thick, fluffy and came with a tasty syrup that was nice and hot and ample butter. I spotted this place last spring and was determined to get over here. I had a breakfast special for $9.50, pretty economical. I only wanted 2 pancakes. They are a good size and fluffy. I don't like when they automatically put powdered sugar on it. I scraped it off and got it on my eggs which I didn't feel like eating anyway. I like the big bottle of warm syrup with the spout. I think they may be on the dense side cause the cake got so soaked up by the syrup, I felt like I used most of the bottle. They love to decorate here, cause it was decked out for Halloween. My wife ordered cinnamon swirl French toast which she enjoyed, sweet without being overly sweet. She also had a side of bacon which was a little too well done for our taste but not so much so that we sent it back. I ordered an ham and American cheese omelette with a side of cubed potatoes and a short stack. The omelette was perfectly balanced, very fresh and flavorful. The potatoes were about the best I have ever had, wonderfully flavored, they paired perfectly with the omelette. I wanted some potato with every bite! The pancakes were sweet, thick, and fluffy. I only needed butter to enjoy them. I also ordered a German Pancake, which is a staple for a pancake house. I have been eating these pancakes since I was a kid and have grown to love them, my hopes were high for Annie's. For me the German wasn't traditional but it was flavorful. It was a little thick on the bottom for me but I give that may be personal preference. It was a little too sweet for me as well but again personal preference. It's bright, cheerful, and you'll be happy to know the kitchen knows what it's doing. Yes, the menu has so much in common with the other menus at the other restaurants, sandwiches, soup, salad, pancakes, burgers. What's coming out of the kitchen is very good, and that's what sets this restaurant apart from the others. The service is friendly and professional. Went for breakfast and for a moment, she yelled from where I was (by the window) to where one pays at the cash register. Knowing that there was customers, including me next to her, she yelled to an employee instead of respectfully getting up and walking to them professionally.
