This Menards really speaks to me!! All my hardware needs are met, be they a replacement fluorescent light tube, a strangely sized furnace filter, to a delightful array of off-brand canned goods, this Menards has it all! When I walk in I feel like I am among family! The employees are so helpful and they often have the 11% off on purchases via a rebate offer. We bought 2 toilets here a couple of years ago and that 11% rebate allowed us to upgrade to a far more desirable model. That has enhanced the quality of our lives in countless ways! I haven't been to Menards in a while. There are two other big box hardware stores near me. But, we needed to replace an exterior door to a screen porch that was such an odd size, we needed to build it on our own. We worked with a manager in the home improvement area who we spoke to on the phone before driving there. We explained what we wanted to do and showed her an example of what we wanted the door to look like. She helped us find every part we needed from lumber and other building materials to screen and the hardware we would need. She really went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She also took the extra time to explain to us some options we could do and made sure we understood. She was able to cut down some of the wood for us, but not all. And, I agree with her reasoning. While we had all of the measurements, she reminded us of the old adage - measure twice, cut once. She was right - we're just starting to build it. Ensuring the right measurements before making a cut will certainly make our project easier, and leave less room for error. read more

I went today with no mask on to get some pots for my garden-I was outside in the garden side.After president aired the night before that people who are fully vaccinated- no mask required -I felled have a right to have no mask on. But some store like Menards still do not respect presidents and states requirements. The manager told me that I have to wear a mask on to be able to purchase pots from his store other wise I have to leave the store. He told me that they do that for customers to feel comfortable in the store. What about my comfort to not wear a mask when I was vaccinated and I want to finally breath. Meh, not the best customer service. The employees don't have the level of knowledge of products compared to Home Depot and they don't seem to care (at least the 2 that I interacted with). I bought a product that turned out to have already been opened and had needed screws missing. It's also the only store that I have seen since Covid that has no wipes or sanitizing station for carts- and the conveyor belts during checkout looked very dirty. This is not something I would have noticed before, but the Home Depot is a much better experience in customer care. read more

This was my first time trying to shop at Menards. I came here with supplies that were listed in a paper that I needed to make a drawer. Their place was huge and big. I can see a lot of inventory and sections they have. Since it was my first time here, I was clueless about the area of the supplies that I needed. So I need help from the staff. There are a lot of customers here and there are no available staff to assist the other customers. They should hire more employees. So I just look for myself. But after a few minutes some staff assisted me and he helped me. He wanted to see my list and I gave it to him. He helped me until I bought everything on the list. Whenever I need building supplies or anything for my yard, this is my go to store. Their hours are extremely convenient. They open early and close late. They carry a very wide inventory. No matter what materials I need for my around the house projects, I can always depend on Menards having it on stock. I've always found the employees extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Menards is ok. They hands down have the best lumber. They have a variety of goods at decent prices. I honestly don't like how the entrances are setup. They only have two and most people like me park by the exit doors of the store for convenience purposes, who wants to push a loaded cart to your car more than you have to, we're the customers we should be able to get to our cars quickly after shopping and paying. My rant is this, I don't really think it's a problem walking in the store through the exit door, make it easier to get in and start shopping without blocking the way to the isles. Little things like that make a difference. read more

My husband asked for help to look at a product so he knows which of our vehicles to bring. The picture of the product was also shown to him. He right away said "will not fit our car" & dismissed my husband & left. So my husband went to get it himself, load it in the car with the trunk closed + me & my daughter. Message to JEFF-- FYI! Menards is my go-to for home improvement and gardening needs! Their hours are very convenient, there is plenty of parking, and I always find the store to be clean and well stocked. I like the convenience, products and what's available at this store, BUT do something about the washrooms. Filthy! Toliet paper in every John on the floor, no brushing of toilets, many today unflushed. Can't someone take a few minutes out of each hour to sign that the washroom is clean? read more

Menards is one of my favorite hardware stores to go to when I need to do some home improvement without spending a ton of money. They don't always carry some of the nicer things you find at Home Depot or Lowe's but the price is always very competitive and you can typically find something similar for much less. The best thing about this store is really the size. There is tons of selection inside, the parking lot is giant, it's easy to drive in and out of this location, and I never feel cramped when shopping. The selection of the holiday items is particularly impressive and I'd be surprised if this location doesn't have the most selection of any non specialty store. Another great feature is the excellent selection of sprecher sodas. This probably isn't the first place you'd think of to carry craft soda, but Menards probably has both the best price and selection of this locally brewed gourmet specialty. Overall, great place to go for your home improvement needs with great prices and tons of selection. read more

The short and sweet is this. Menards has a great selection of almost everything you'll ever need for home repair...but trying to find it is a lot of work. Nobody, and I mean nobody puts ketchup on a hotdog. Wait sorry, I got carried away there. What I meant to say was nobody and I mean nobody says hello or 'can I help you?' and when you do finally find someone to ask where something is they say 'go to the back of the store there's a desk there and they'll tell you. My mantra with this store is: only go if you are not going to need any help from the staff. Unlike other hardware stores within a stone's throw from this store, this Menards has absolutely zero customer service. Staff scatter when you approach, and if you are lucky enough to find someone who works there, you are most likely going to get half answers that are less than helpful. If Menards is going to continue to have this absent staff, at least give us an app/website that tells customers exactly where products are located. read more

I purchased a whirlpool washer here in September. The first one broke the first week. I called and asked to return it. They said all I could do was replace it. It was replaced a week later with a refurbished one that broke a week after as well. They refuse to return the whirlpool washer and refund my money. They say it's been over a week. Theyr not listening that the first one was broken with in the week I had to return it. I was told I could only replace it. Terrible service read more

Had a heating company at my house and we needed a part(tubing) I ran to Menards in Long Grove and ran around the store looking for someone to help me- I found a young man ( College Age) who sent me to the opposite side of the store when in fact it was only 2 rows from where I found him to ask- it took me almost 15 mins to find someone who found the part. The store was not busy but when I went to check out , the cashiers were all standing by one register talking about the weekend. I had to go over to them to say I was in a hurry and could I check out. Very rude and never offered me a bag but she left to go back to socialize . Off to Home Depot or Ace from now on. read more

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so so much for working with us Menards. We lost our receipt, but we came home with a new dehumidifier. You bet they took care of us. So, in 2011 we bought a dehumidifier for our basement and purchased an extended warranty. It broke last year, and for all this time we've been digging through boxes only to find all the paperwork but not the receipt! Oh so irritating! They have a super strict policy at Menards about not taking anything back without a receipt, but we had a copy of our bank statement, the broken dehumidifier which they were able to scan with the SKU # still on it. Since we had the extended warranty, we were hoping they would be able to take it and fix it for us. After 45 minutes, the manager (totally spaced on his name) researched, called the manufacturer, and like a forensic scientist was able to find our purchase in the system! Turns out our dehumidifier was recalled, so they couldn't fix it and instead took the old unit back and exchanged it for a new one... different brand of course. To top it off, they carried it to the car for us! Friendly, eager and beyond happy to help us, I am grateful to Menards for working with us. Not only did they save us about $200, but now my basement is already smelling better! 5-stars all the way! read more

This is a large store with generally a good assortment of items and helpful people. However, it is geared to do-it-yourself buying and small contractors. Buying something and getting it installed is a crapshoot - they simply recommend independent contractors, they don't manage the work. The main complaint is that within a few days of running an ad, they are often sold out of most of the really good specials. This is very frustrating if you can't shop on Sunday morning when the deals begin. read more

The people in this particular location are approachable and helpful. The store is clean and not too cluttered. My issue mainly lies on Menards Return/Refund Policy. Do not buy any gas powered equipment at any Menards. We bought our MTD snow thrower there during Black Friday weekend. We brought it home and did not start. I called Menards ahead of time to see what the return policy was for Menards and only then were we told that Gas Powered equipment are non-exchangeable or non-refundable. I can agree with that policy to a certain degree, but if the equipment that was purchase does not ever start then that product should be returnable or, at the very least, exchangeable. Now I am stuck dealing with MTD in trying to repair this machine myself. In the future, I will shop at other location (including family owned shops) that have a better exchange or return policy. read more

Very difficult store to navigate. Nobody at the entrance doors to guide you. You can't get out once you get in unless you go through the checkout lines. But, you have to walk the entire length of the store to get to the check out lines and then half of them are closed and blocked so you can't walk through th email. Very frustrating. I saw no information on the front of the building saying entrance only, exit only. Plan to spend a long time in here whether you buy anything or not. read more

I tried a few different hardware type shops in the area, but Menards was my favorite. The store is relatively new and it's in a pretty nice area. The prices are very affordable. I have been here many times and I can't recall ever having a bad experience. There are separate entrances for going in and leaving, so depending on where you park, you may have to walk a distance. We ordered new carpeting from Menards for upstairs. We spent two nights removing everything off the floor and closets. The installer removed the old carpet and pad. When they were ready to install the new carpet, they unrolled it and found a defective stripe directly in the middle of roll length. Is the dealer (Menards) responsible for inspecting the carpet for defects? The installer was recommended by the Menards salesperson. Now we have to wait another two to three weeks for a replacement. Hopefully Menards will provide us with compensation for this issue. I am holding off my final rating until this issue is resolved. read more

Apparently, if you're in the lawn and garden center and you hear the beeping horn of a fork truck, you are to immediately stop walking. Even if it's over 100 feet away at first. Getting over to one side is not enough. Then when you are told with a snotty attitude to stop walking when you hear the beeping horn, you better just accept it. I will not be back ever. Menards, seriously? I drove a fork truck in two different jobs and both of them trained me to allow customers the right of way first. Never to honk my horn to tell them to get out of the way.
