Have only been to this location once…read more They have everything well stocked and organized. Given all the shortages of supplies nowadays, i am surprised at how well they were able to fill their shelves. They carry many brands and many varieties of pet supplies beyond what the supermarket or box store carries. I saw workers helping people out on the floor. Cashier was friendly Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I got everything I needed for our 3 cats. Prices were generally within about 10% of cutthroat online competitors, which makes this a decent option for value shoppers.

I had a very disappointing experience at Pet Supplies Plus in Wauconda…read more I purchased a play cable that ultimately did not meet my needs. I opened the package and began assembling it, only to realize it was not the correct product for what I needed. I returned to the store shortly afterward to return the item, expecting a standard refund. To my surprise, I was informed that I would not receive a full refund because the package had been opened. At no point during the purchase process was I advised of this policy, nor was it clearly communicated on the packaging or receipt. Had I known that opening the package would result in a reduced refund, I would have made a different purchasing decision. The employee processing my return stated that the store is franchise-owned and that there was nothing he could do regarding the situation. While he was polite, the lack of flexibility and customer-focused resolution was frustrating. What made the experience even more disappointing was that I was prepared to purchase several additional items during that visit--items totaling considerably more than the approximately $17 that was withheld from my refund. Instead, I left the store without purchasing anything. Based on this experience, I will not be shopping at this location again and would not recommend it to others. Customer service and transparent policies matter. For those in the area, I have had a much better experience at Petco in McHenry, where I felt valued as a customer and was treated fairly. Hopefully management will review its return policies and improve communication with customers to avoid similar situations in the future.

I am beyond grateful to Dr. Alison Baker, Vet Tech Colette, Vet Tech Sarah, and their front desk…read morestaff, made up of three of the most amazing receptionists EVER--April, Christine, and Colleen--as well as the dedicated team behind the scenes at Cary Grove Animal Hospital. Their exceptional care for my beloved dog, Sparky, has been nothing short of a miracle. The journey started on 8/5 with a minor IVDD flare-up that was being treated with medications and laser therapy. But things took a critical turn on Sunday, August 10, when Sparky experienced severe gastrointestinal complications after being prescribed medication for his IVDD on 8/5. This led to a terrifying episode of gastrointestinal bleeding (HGE), low blood pressure, very low sodium and calcium levels, and severe dehydration, necessitating hospitalization for IV fluids and multiple tests. After spending $1,144.00 at Thrive Emergency Vet the previous night, I found myself financially unable to continue the care he desperately needed. Reluctantly, I brought him home against medical advice, knowing he may not make it through the night. But I prayed my heart out and hoped that if he could live through the night, Dr. Baker could save him because he required at least one or two days of intensive care and monitoring. Despite the dire situation, Sparky showed incredible grit and an amazing will to live. I reached out to Christine at Cary Grove first thing Monday morning to explain his condition and how critical he was, and was met with immediate reassurance. She said, "Hold on one moment, let me tell Dr. Baker." Just two minutes later, she returned with the urgency I needed, exclaiming, "Come NOW!" When I arrived, I was greeted by the warm smiles of Christine and April, as well as that of Tech Sarah, eagerly waiting for her "munchkin." Dr. Baker quickly assessed Sparky and meticulously reviewed his records from Thrive, formulating a comprehensive treatment plan and immediately getting to work. The staff treated him throughout Monday with fluids, antibiotics, pain medications, and antiemetics. I picked him up that night to bring him back the next day for continued care. Throughout this entire process, the team made Sparky feel as if he were at home. They allowed him to snuggle into every available blanket they had because "he's needy" and even cozy up in laps for some well-deserved rocking, soothing, and spoiling. Their compassion extended beyond physical care; they kept me at ease with frequent updates, let me cry (like Lucy), and patiently answered every single question I had--believe me, there were a lot! I am thrilled to share that Mr. Sparky is now well on his way to recovery! It's going to be a long and arduous journey, but with Cary Grove Animal Hospital by our side, there is no mountain I am not willing to face--except for one; and thanks to Dr. Baker's quick action, we won't have to address that dark day anytime soon! The dedication and love from everyone at Cary Grove astonished not only me but also the charitable foundations I consulted to help with Sparky's care. Having worked with numerous veterinary offices, these organizations were blown away by the incredible level of care and compassion that Cary Grove provides. If you are looking for a veterinary team that not only excels in expertise but also embodies genuine love for your pets, look no further than Cary Grove Animal Hospital. They have set the standard for what veterinary care should be, and I will always stand by this remarkable team. Thank you, Cary Grove, for everything! You are truly a blessing to our community!
