Rude ignorant customers + Unprofessional going through the motions staff = A Freakin Disaster 10x I am happy to see our Petworth neighborhood continue to make strides in transforming into a more accessible & appealing area for local residents however, maybe we're not quite ready yet. ie: We don't know how to move our carts from the middle of the isle to be considerate of other shoppers yet. We don't know how to make sure all 7-10 of our kids we brought with us aren't terrorizing the store, yelling like their at Six Flags, & running into other shoppers yet. We don't know how to use manners with terms like excuse me & thank you yet. As employees we're not sure if its ok to say good morning to customers yet. We still think we're being sentenced to death if we're asked to help someone. We think smacking on gum & rolling our eyes at the register should win customer service rewards. We love closing the register in front a low volume line because going beyond standard effort seems ridiculous. My word of advice to anyone that wants to waste about an hour of their life in this store, bring a lot of patience & please try to avoid the 1st of the month trust me. I had such high hopes when I heard they were coming to DC. Totally dashed! Customer service is a joke. The supervisor and her very rude and attitude driven subordinate argued about return policy with the supervisor letting the worker tell HER what was acceptable. It's bad enough having to return something that doesn't work, it's worse to watch two employees fight in front of you. Well, what else is there to expect when you go to Walmart? Cheap prices, long lines and even longer wait times. This place is horrible. The ONLY REASON why you should come here is because of the convenience. You can't beat it. Located at the epicenter of Brightwood Park on Georgia Avenue, the Big Blue Machine demands your patronage. And out of necessity, you must feed it. Don't count on the employees for help either, better rely on those signs, not to mention the money order machine is ALWAYS down. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I called about the Black Friday ad because my mother had called and got contradicting info. The woman I spoke to at first told me the ad was false then said it was true "after speaking to the manager" she said the ad was kinda true. In effort to better understand I read her the ad. Instead of letting me ask questions so that I the customer understood she continuously cut me off and talked over me to which I replied "you aren't letting me talk". The employee then proceeded to huff, puff & yell something before hanging up on me. I have since not been able to contact whatever manager she spoke to or any manager at all because they must have caller ID and didn't answer, they should be hearing from corporate though since I called them to get my question actually answered and also complain about the customer service at this location :) I won't be shopping here, Walmart is no Target that's for sure. They have one person to assist in the entire beauty department and if (s)he goes on lunch break, there is no one to remove the items for you. Not that I needed assistance with anything substantive, only needed someone to remove the theft device from some brushes. I gave up when an employee told me that she had to go upstairs and "see if there's a manager who could provide the magnetic key." Seriously? Before this Walmart opened in my neighborhood I had been to a Walmart only twice in my life. Now - we visit about twice a month for basics like diapers and toilet paper. There are approximately one million people working in the Walmart at any time, and half of the people shipping there seem to be Walmart workers whose shifts just ended. Everyone seems pretty nice and helpful - I really don't agree with the other reviewers that the employees aren't helpful. Don't come to this place expecting to run in and out quickly because you will be annoyed. For all the employees in the floor there aren't ever many registers open. Quickest seems to be self checkout Only if you are paying with a card.. There are usually several registers that won't take or dispense cash and most shoppers seem to only have cash so paying by card lets you skip ahead. Security guard will ask to see your receipt when you leave - so keep it out and don't be annoyed when they ask. Good prices on diapers, household cleaning products, and things you have to buy a lot of - like kids gloves. Terrible prices on fruits and veg - especially anything organic. Save yourself a lot of money and go to trader joes or moms for that. Kids toy section is really limited and picked through - and there are usually unaccompanied kids in the aisles just playing with the toys. Actually all the sections seem to be pretty limited, so it must be an especially small location for Walmart. One of the employees told me that the whole store is basically set up as seasonal, so that's why it's hard to find specific things that aren't huge buys at that particular time of year. Haven't been to the customer service / online pickup section but my god that line is usually crazy. There is a vending machine in the lobby that copies keys. read more

This place is a ridiculous joke!! Called 4 times to check if a product was in stock. First call, waited for someone to answer for over 5 minutes; when someone pick-up, I said, "Hello?" and was immediately hung-up on. I called back 2 other times; after about 5 minutes of ringing each time, no one answered so I hung-up again. I called a 4th time and actually spoke to a human...who put me on hold twice. I waited for over 10 minutes before hanging up. What incredibly poor customer service, but hey, it's Walmart, so maybe I shouldn't be expecting anything less than terrible. read more

I called to ask one thing and they keep me on hold for more than an hour and every person that picks up don't know how to help me what they all have to do was check if they have the product or not. At Georgia Avenue location at 6:35 AM to do an exchange and additional purchase and was told by who was the "stated" manager no returns until 7:00 AM (although store opens daily at 6:00 AM); The stated manager was telling me this with his back turned. I stopped talking to make him turn and talk face to face. He then said again with his frown on his face and immediately turned and walked away. All transactions should be available at opening AND all staff should be trained to talk to persons/customers face to face and not show body language that a customer is a nuisance. read more

This Walmart usually has everything I'm looking for unless it's the beginning of the month. I try to avoid my shopping during thus time period of the month. The food and produce are very limited during this time. The escalators are often broken with the elevator being the only alternative if you have a cart full of groceries. This location beats many of the suburban Walmart stores I've visited prior. I also can appreciate free, easily accessible parking in any major city. The store was clean, I overheard employees helping other customers on the sales floor, the food area was well-lit and well-stocked, and I was able to find all the undergarments I needed (my reason for going). read more

I found it to be slightly better than the H St. location in terms of food selection, clothing, and household items. It would be better if they expanded the yarn section and had more checkout lanes open. The prices are great compared to other large chain stores. I purchased an item with in store pick up. The next day I go to get my Item and I was told, " Sorry but no one has had a chance to pick up the item from the showroom floor. You can walk the floor, find the item and I can cash you out." This is the day after the scheduled pickup day. I search the floor for the item and then asked Chantel for assistance. She had way to much attitude. She seemed like she was already angry and got even madder that a customer needed her help. After getting the item, I go back to customer service / pick up and the clerk had to hand write my receipt. I hate this store. read more

Pharmacy sucks! After all the advertising to transfer my loyalty, they don't have a very large selection of common medications. And if they have to order something, it takes 5 days! I really dislike this store location employees here are so unprofessional they need HELLA training. So I wanted to buy Tarot cards and I didn't know if they sold them here cause online they do and I called about 10 time NOBODY answered the phone. Mind you this was about 9am they open at 7. The worse part is yet to come I went to the store to see if they had the tarot cards l, since they wouldn't pick up the phone. I went and no to avail I couldn't find no tarot cards. I bought what I needed once I got home I noticed that I left the ONLY Air dry clay they had behind I tried to call them to see if it was still there because someone might've taken it by accident but NOBODY ANSWERED the damn phone. I called customer service and they explained that the manager is supposed to give me a call back within 3 days and nobody has even called me like this is ridiculous I paid for something I can't even go back to get. This store is proof customer service is DEAD! Lines are ALWAYS extremely long and slow. Cashiers and employees absolutely HATE their jobs and they could careless about helping us customers. Shopping at night is the WORST. Usually just 1 or 2 lanes open and 99.9% of the time the cashier will be rude and ghetto. Completely unprofessional. Would you know, I spent 30minutes trying to buy a battery they had in the store because although I was told I could pick it up same day, they took more than 2 hours to get the item off the shelf!!!!! I have had the most amazing experience at Walmart today. Dominique was my cashier. She went above and beyond to get my orders through. Honestly, it is one of the best customer experiences I have had to date. I was rushing for an event, so it was so comforting to have a wonderful cashier. Additionally, I needed so many things for the event that I was running around the store to every section of the Walmart! Lol. All the staff I worked with were patient and passionate, including Jessica, Asia, Vernetta and the Manager Ron. Good morning, I wanted to file a formal complaint. I shop at Walmart at least twice a month and spend well over $500 a month at your stores. I went to perform a return at your store on GA Ave in Washington DC yesterday which is the local store I utilize. I was returning an air mattress that was defective. I did not have my receipt but I knew since we used a Credit Card that they would be able to locate the receipt. When I reached the customer service desk I met Donna. I explained to Donna that I was trying to return the blow up bed for store credit because I had to do some house hold shopping so I might as well do it with the $50 I spent on this defective blow up bed. She asked for my receipt, I explained to her that I didn't have it and told her that I paid with a credit card can she look it up that way. She informed me that she needed to get her supervisor. A lady with an even ruder attitude by the name of Beverly came to the desk and everything that I asked her was "No, I don't have that capability." I didn't even understand why Donna would've gotten another associate that is not able to resolve my issue and give me more attitude. Beverly then said she will locate her supervisor to look up the receipt. I then asked Donna why she asked someone that couldn't help me to come assist her. She snapped at me and said "There is a chain of command." Before she continued I said "Ok I'm done." Donna then replied "I don't give a fuck, this ain't my problem. It's to damn early for this shit!" Now I don't know about your policies but I've worked in several retail stores and this type of language is never acceptable to customers. Not to mention when the manager finally pulled my receipt he had Beverly accuse me of not purchasing a blow up bed on that purchase and I was informed that I over paid for the item. I clearly looked at the receipt and matched the serial number to the box of the mattress, once Beverly realized what I was doing she snatched both the receipt and the box. She then told Donna to process the return and she was like you can grab your mattress to do an exchange and I told her no that's not what I asked them to do. I just wanted store credit. That's it that's all. Beverly was fed up with me by this point did my return as cash and sent me on my way. I have never experienced such rudeness at one of your stores. There was another gentleman that also said something to them about their rudeness. I'm appalled. For that young lady to be working the customer service desk and to use such language with customers is lack of professionalism and needs to be address. Like I said I spend well over $500 a month in your store but because of those to ladies I won't be returning to any Walmart store. This is the one closet to me and the treatment I received just left a horrible taste in my mouth. Ya know, I am not the biggest fan of Walmart in general. The stuff is cheap and all imported from China, the employees are treated in a suspect manner and so on and so forth. However, as Walmart goes this is not the worst. People in the inner city need the store because it's cheap and that is the only was some of these people there can survive. If you can afford to shop at Target or Trader Joe's or Whole Foods then please do so. This walmart has a full grocery store and they do have organic products as well. Very unprofessional! I ordered about 4 items online. Received confirmation that the items would be available for pick up at 12pm. To make 100% sure things were ready for pick up, I called the store. The lady assured me that they were so I drove about 30 minutes to get the items. I get there and they said they didn't know where my order was. People was not helpful. Kept giving me the running around. So I demanded a refund. I initiated the refund online but it was never finalize. Between talking to this store and customer service. It was a very bad experience. So happy to have a Walmart in the District. This one is fairly close to where I live, and it's a much easier trek than when I would go to the one in Landover. This one is much bigger than the one in NoMa, and the sales tax isn't as high here. Sometimes I feel like I end up spending more money here than I would at Giant, but now with the Walmart app I can scan my receipt and they'll give me store credit if they find any deals in the area cheaper than what I paid. Quite convenient! I think the only major problem I see with this location is that I can never seem to find a cart or basket. Probably because so many people are going through there and they have to retrieve the carts from the parking garage. Aside from that, I'm a fan & definitely will be coming back! read more

I just like to start off by saying its not towards this Walmart this is towards the whole Walmart online company. In the middle of October or in the end of October I decided to buy my mom's Christmas gift which was a red MacBook 12 inch case for a MacBook 12 inch air. A first off I got the order later than it was supposed to come and second, it was 11 inches. I know this because when I was trying to put the case unto the MacBook to try it out it was too small so when I measured it it was exactly 11 inches. I proceeded to search up Walmarts customer service number and called their customer service. When I called I went straight to the voice automated machine and it was very complicated. When I was finally able to speak to an employee he was not only not remorseful but he was VERY RUDE.He proceeded to tell me that I did not need to return my order and all they were going to do is send my money back In 5 to10 BUSINESS DAYS. I was very upset about this because why does it need to take so long to give me my hard earned money. This gift was very important to me because it was not only a Christmas gift for my mother but she also does everything for me and I wanted to do something for her for a change but they have ruined this for me. I advise anyone who is reading this to never shop online at Walmart because they will mess up your order terribly. I can advise you if you want to shop online for some thing that might be at Walmart to try to go to Amazon or Best Buy or even target. This was the worst experience that I've ever had at Walmart shopping online and I would've been a very loyal online customer. This will be my first and my VERY last time shopping with Walmart online. Walmart. Time to take ok Goliath. I've been to my fair share of Walmarts in my life and I've never left one being eager to return. That's the first thing they have in common. I don't know what it is about their color scheme. The blue is just boring. While Target's red wakes you up. It feels like you're entering a giant boring drug store full of people who make the same amount of money as me (which isn't very much). Other than Costco you probably can't beat Walmart's prices. But their record on employee relations gives me pause when I am there. Not to mention people just seem annoyed in Walmart like they all agree they'd rather be shopping somewhere else but this is as cheap as it gets. The Georgia Ave location is north of Columbia Heights in a DC neighborhood with about as much charm as a dentist office. Hi, I needed to replace my mini fridge asap so I ordered one online to be picked up "same day" at the Washington, DC Walmart at 5929 Georgia Ave Nw. The site showed the product was available and would be ready for same day pickup but don't proceed to the store until the "item ready" email is sent. Well, it's been 5 hours and still no email. I called this particular branch after the first hour and the online pickup department would not pick up. I called several times and after 20 or so rings, I was transferred to customer service who also would not pick up. I refuse to believe Walmart was that busy for 5 hours that they couoldn't answer the phone. I called the main customer service Walmart number to verify this branch is open till midnight. Customer service verified that it was. I made the order at 4:30pm which is well before the same day cutoff time. I really needed to replace this ailing fridge and save my goods. If I knew Walmart wasn't going to help me even on "their" terms, I would have taken another option. I have cancelled the order. Oh wait, I will have to wait even longer now that there's been a hold placed on my debit card for the "full" amount and will take 1-3 days to drop off. Thanks Walmart! I won't be back. read more
