Realky surprised at the state of this WalMart Superstore. Moved my daughter into her apartment on Wisconsin Ave as an employee at the NIH. She needed many household supplies and this Superstore seemed like a natural choice. From the outside it looked nice, big garage, lots of carts, etc. but inside utter chaos. Garbage and empty carts just left in aisles, staff restocking but not keeping the shelves organized and tidy. All the cold counters were empty, maybe replacing them, but no signage, just empty shelves. Lots of cameras and signs about shoplifting, and armed security. Place was intimidating and really in poor shape. Will not visit this place again. Stay away. read more

This place is terrible. I have sworn off from dealing with the nightmare of this place. I attempted to order my kids' birthday cake here. I wanted a Frozen-themed birthday cake and loved that they had one they could customize. I tried ordering it in person and was told I had to download the app since they stopped taking in-person since they messed up the cakes so often. Uh oh, red flag... Despite this, I still went ahead and ordered the cake. However, when I tried to order on the app, the cake wouldn't show up. After multiple tries, I eventually ordered the cake. However, after I paid and got the receipt, it came back with a totally different cake! I ended up going to the store and asked to order in person, which they refused. I ordered again on the phone, and it came back again with the wrong cake. The person at the bakery said it would be correct even though the confirmation was wrong. Long story short, I got a cake. It got my kids names correct. Did it look like Frozen? Absolutely not. My kids were initially really upset since it looked nothing at all like what we tried to order. But luckily, the party was a hit and with all the games and gifts, they got over it. And were excited just to have a slice of cake. So, take this as a warning. Do not order a cake here. There is a good chance it will not measure up to expectations. read more

This location is a cluster. There never seems to be enough staff for the volume of customers. I had one employee who I asked for help, go to where they weren't in view anymore to finish their conversation with a coworker before finally coming over to assist. This is just 1 example. If you don't HAVE to go to that location, I'd find another. It's stressful. read more

Just grateful to have the store. If you in store shop, try to go when they are not busy. Less contact, less conflicts. Usually, can get the items I need. Sometimes vagrants and creeps but that's everywhere now. If you online pickup, check your items. Prices are better than most places and so is the quality. Parking is variable and the spaces are tight. If you have a large vehicle, park farther away. Not possible if you online pickup and the spaces can be full. Overall, worth the effort. Absolutely awful. One word: sketchy. We stopped here to grab supplies while camping at Cherry Hill, and it was easily the worst Walmart I have ever visited. The store was filthy, completely unstocked, and the staff were incredibly rude. The cashier didn't even bother to bag our groceries--we had to do it ourselves. To make matters worse, we were approached inside by someone asking us to buy them medication, which felt completely unsafe. Avoid this location at all costs. read more

This store is horrible. They never have enough cashiers and no matter what time of day you arrive, there are always a long lines. I stood in the self checkout line on a weekday at 1:30 in the afternoon and got to the front only to be told that I had too many items. I had to get out of that line and get to the back of a new (long) line. I was in line so long I was worried that my frozen foods would melt. By the time I checked out, I learned that the store has no paper bags for me to carry my groceries. The produce is questionable and the parking garage smells like urine. No one answers the telephone. The only reason I shop here is because it's the closest grocery store to my house since the previous grocery store was closed. I know Walmart markets itself as a discount store but does the service and quality have to be so poor? read more

This review is specifically for curbside pick up ONLY. I placed an order and it was done prior to the allotted time which was awesome. Keep in mind that free parking is underground as is the curbside pickup. Due to this, I did not have any service to call/check in to notify that I had arrived. Luckily, a staff member was there delivering another order and helped me. Despite this occurring, everything happened in lightening speed, and the folk that helped me from the security guard that moved cones to Wal- Mart staff were super helpful. Also, don't be deterred by the cones, just move them out of the way. I'd definitely place an order here again. read more

I come here for the convenience of the location, but some of the workers here have extremely awful service, more than other locations. Not all of the workers, but the ones that are awful are really just that bad. I mentally brace myself for it, and it never fails. I always end up leaving hoping that they will either quit or be fired, and hoping that they find a job that doesn't require any contact with humans. read more

For real, what did I walk into here. It was a nightmare from parking to leaving. I mean an absolute nightmare. We should have took the hint after trying to park in the underground parking garage. There is almost no direction in here. Actually there is, but no one wants to follow the directions. We were turning to come down an aisle and someone was backing out of a spot to leave, instead of going with the flow of traffic, they came towards me. Then had the nerve to cuss me out. Upon entering the escalators are out of order, everyone has to use the elevators to get to the store floor and vice versa. When we finally did get up to the floor, making our way through the store was an equal nightmare. Seeing how there are attempting to squish a full sized supercenter here the aisles feel a lot smaller. And all the entitled people here think that they are in the right to do whatever they want. One person even had the audacity to tell my family and I that they were getting an item and she wasn't moving. My Dad, being my Dad, didn't care and said excuse me. She then said, 'go ahead and say something.' I was just at a loss for words then. Like, everyone is in here getting items and you think you are the only one, were you looking to pick a fight or something? We continued through the store at our pace and it just did not flow correctly. We ended up in the hardware department and it was a total mess. Especially the area where the shelves were visibly broken, but there was no cares given. Then the check out lines, yikes. I will give it to them, this is one of the few Walmart stores I have been to that they actually had more than three registers open. However, those lines still stretched back into the aisles with merchandise on them. Like the parking lot, no one knew how to do a line in here. There were constant problems with items either not ringing up, ringing up wrong, or some type of error that would need a manager. It took forever to get out of the store, back down the elevators, and then back out of the garage. Honestly, if it would have been just me, I would not have come here. I can't imagine how much Walmart must hate its customers to make shopping such a miserable experience. The shelves are sloppy and under stocked, and the staff act like they just wandered in off the street. Then, be prepared for a checkout line that is 15 carts deep, snaking back through the cramped and crowded aisles, with half the registers closed and the few that are open run by trainees who handle each item like some kind of alien object they have never encountered before, moving so slowly that it can only be deliberate. My ice cream and other frozen foods literally melted while I was still in line. At the end there is a high likelihood that the payment terminal will not be working, so make sure you have several credit cards on hand in the hopes that the machine can eventually read one of them. For your own sanity and self respect, I strongly warn you to stay away from this unfortunate place at all costs. read more

This is the worst Walmart in all of the metro D.C. area. I got in line to pay for my items and it took 40 minutes just to get to a register. I spoke with a manager and his attitude was that I should have shopped earlier. Walmart needs to train their management teams better. I'll never shop here again!!! I actually ran into this store while driving past here the other day, and I decided to come on in here to see if they had any lunch food in the deli. This store is great because they have a grocery store in addition to the e regular store. I've purchased those premade chicken sandwiches and popcorn chicken from a different location, and I was able to find just the popcorn chicken here. I spent a little time walking around and ai ran into an old friend Hernan who works here now. They gave me some guidance about where to go for the electronics section which was helpful, because I'm looking around for a nice Samsung tablet. I could have done some serious shipping here but I didn't come prepared for that today. I ended up getting a bottled water, some candy, and the popcorn chicken. read more

This store is absolute garbage... it was like this before the pandemic and it has only gotten worse since. The primary reason I hate this store is because of the staff. They are lazy, they are SO rude and they are quick to give you attitude if you ask them anything. Before the pandemic, they were notorious for having random items out of stock, but now... forget about it! I've mentioned these, and other issues (e.g. the store is dirty, one of the escalators is usually broken) to the store's GM and he doesn't seem to think there's a problem. If fact, he boasted that they were one of the 'highest rated stores in the area'... compared to what?!? If you shop here, you are almost guaranteed to have to go elsewhere to get what you need (and with the emphasis on minimizing social contact, not to mention the lines that people now have to wait in just to get INTO a grocery store... nobody wants that). It's almost impossible to follow the new one-way system they have set up in the aisles when there are ALWAYS boxes and shelves and people restocking in most of them. (seriously, these stores have reduced hours now. They should be using THAT extra time to do most of their restocking... NOT when customers are in the store.) Speaking of lines, there are lines just to get INTO THE STORE. You will wait an indeterminable amount of time just to get into this mess. Once you finally make it inside you will find lines of people weaving well into the aisles because of the unfathomably stupid way they've reconfigured the store. Instead of enforcing social distancing, they've created something like a bullpen of people clogging up aisles in the front of the store, preventing shoppers from getting what they need. Here's a thought... how about opening all of the check out lanes so lines and wait times will be shorter? Ya know.. just a thought. Self check-out is the worst. The line snakes thought the apparel section to the entrance of the store and NOWHERE along that path is there any signage telling people that self checkout is now only 25 items or less. If that's the policy, it should be on one of those large blue signs suspended from the ceiling. I waited a ridiculously long time in that line and was third in line to checkout when one of the associates rudely tells me that I couldn't check out there. I asked him what he was talking about, and he points to this TINY 8x11 sheet of paper with 16 point font (that I could barely read while standing in front of it!) mentioning the limit on items. He then claims he walked up and down the aisle every 5 minutes telling customers this (which is total BS because he couldn't possibly get through the aisle when it was so clogged with carts. There was no room for anyone to walk through!). When I refuse to leave the line, he goes to get his manager. I try to rationally explain the situation to this woman but she was just NASTY. Had an attitude from the time she walked up and then had the nerve to point her finger and me to get me to leave the line. A lesser person would have run her ass over with that cart (thought about it, not gon lie). Instead, I let my wallet do the talking and left that basket full of $250+ worth of items right there in the aisle. Have fun putting all of that stuff back before it spoils, boo.... There is no amount of patience I can exercise that would make this a better shopping experience, especially when there are other stores (including other Walmarts) in the area that are implementing these new standards with little issue, keeping their stores clean and their shelves well-stocked and have polite, pleasant and professional staff. While I'm lucky that I can travel to other stores where I can get decent customer service and shop in a clean store with well stocked shelves, I feel bad for those who have no choice but to shop here and deal with this mess. read more

I made a quick stop at Walmart to stock up on sparkling cider for the week. I assumed I would find it in the juice aisle and was correct. Unfortunately, the options were limited. They only had one kind available, which was Welch's red grape. It was on the second shelf from the top and well out of my reach. I looked around for an associate to help me but no one was available. I used my cellphone to call the customer service desk for assistance. They indicated they would send someone back. While I was waiting I spotted another type of cider to the back of the same shelf. An associate arrived and ended up using a ladder to get the items I needed. This is probably the best cuatomer service I have received here. They are not usually known for being professional or friendly based off my past experiences. read more

I've been trying to enter the parking garage to this Walmart on Riggs Rd. NE. Everytime go there, the street is blocked due to construction and you cannot enter the entrance of the parking lot. I came out here in July and couldn't get through and ended up having to leave. How are people entering the store if you can't access the parking garage from South Dakota Avenue NE leading into Riggs Road. It is not the store's fault, but I'm wondering what is going on with the construction on Riggs Rd, NE. I ended up going to Target at PG Plaza to get the items I needed since I couldn't get into the garage due to the construction. read more

As we are all focusing on the equality of all humanity it grieves me to know that Walmart has and continues to participate in the act of racial profiling of black boys and their mothers. When my son was a baby we started shopping at this Walmart I noticed then that I was being followed by asset protection over 3 years ago. I quickly introduced my self and let them know who I was giving them my real name(Lol) While some of the workers are nice a large majority that are friends out side of Walmart and live in the community are nasty and I have utilized the complaint line to voice my concerns. For this I have been retaliated against. Andrew(Not of African American Decent)who is the head of asset protection has solicited the local Police department to follow me around the store during various visits as well as when I enter the store the part time police that work in the store come out of the office to follow me. Employees continue to follow me and stand close and show up on the aisles that I am on. My son frequents the toy section they wait until we go to the section and stand and watch us as they pretend to wait on the family restroom. At the self check out the man stood directly by my register over my shoulder as I purchased my items. My son who has been a witness to this behavior is beginning to speak his concerns. He told someone recently "The people at the Walmart follow us around like we are CRIMINALS. As I have expressed to the current management and Andrew that I have no need and I don't teach my son to steal. This store is very disorganized and I have benefited from th wrong prices on items I have saved money in various ways there is no need to steal anything. As I have began to research the practices of Walmart I have found disturbing videos across the USA on this same behavior that Walmart perpetuates on African American shoppers. Sadly I have noticehere in DC the systematic way that Walmart Corperate is using the African American workers to harass and make or criminalize the people who care about the community the most with promises of promotion and moving up in a company who does not value African Americans. We ashes for the cake book and someone said, it's right there, and I guess when they looked realized that it wasn't turned the right way. I will spend my money on a cake else where. My family stopped in to grab some laundry essentials while on vacation in National Harbor for Christmas break. The store was very messy, which I can understand because of the holiday rush. However, with the day after Christmas being a big shopping day, I was surprised to see barely any checkout lanes open. We stood in line for nearly 20 minutes because so few lanes were open. I do not find shopping at this Walmart to be a pleasant experience most times. It is located conveniently near my home and has a wide range of products. Those are the pros. The cons...everything else. Customer service is often non existent. Most of the workers act as if they are doing you a favor by doing their job. There are times when a random cashier models awesome customer service, but it's not always the case. I get it. Maybe it's not the most fun place to work. Maybe the working conditions are not the best. I don't know. But no matter the situation, taking it out on the customers isn't cool. Another issue I have is that quite often the shelves are empty. That can be really frustrating when you're trying to get things off of your list. So for practical reasons I still shop here but mainly when the store isn't that crowded...early morning between 6:30-8. read more

This Walmart is bigger than the H Street location. The food selection is large and varied. There are more clearance items at this location than the other DC Walmarts. The customer service desk staffers seem overworked and tired. They aren't rude but they are barely polite. Smiles help. There is plenty of parking. Very disappointed with customer service department. Never in my life. Have I ever felt the need to write a review on being stereotyped by the store managers at this location. I'm referring to the store manager Coach Lucy was Very unprofessional and treated me as if I am not a paying customer. I was treated very unfair by her actions when I tried to explain to her on getting a replacement for an item that I purchased, and she chose to not only have a conversation with her employees at the register. And kept looking at my direction while I was on the phone with customer service, and when she finally acknowledged me, she rolled her eyes and gave me a smart attitude. She definitely stereotyped me for being a person of color. But little does she know that I speak Spanish not that that matters but I low-key think she is a racist. Just the way that she spoke to me making me look like I'm stupid when all I was trying to do was get an item exchanged under a warranty. Moral of the story after I specifically asked to call for her again she still did not acknowledge me until she felt like she wanted to. At that point. I already left customer service because she definitely was no help and neither was Darnell or Darrell. (it's one of the two) but I'm sure it's probably Darrell..Before meeting with Lucy, I was speaking to Darell, and I honestly don't think he knew what the hell he was talking about because he looked so damn confused and lost out of his mind that when I was explaining my situation, he immediately didn't even bother to look into it and decided to call Lucy, it's no wonder people steal majority of the time at that specific Walmart, because while they're having personal conversations while a guest like meat is trying to get their attention, anything can happen under their nose, and they wouldn't even think about taking actions into their own hands. And I literally purchased an item that I was still under the warranty, and when Darell was speaking to me, he denied and made it seem like I don't know what I'm doing such a huge disappointment experience with customer service, and in my honest opinion, they both suck at their job. Imagine if I was a secret shopper and gave my report on both of them they would've immediately have been fired. You guys need to start hiring better employees because Lucy is definitely not doing her job and as far for Darnell store manager is not the position that he should be in. The security desk transferred me to the customer service department and no one picked up the phone. Their pharmacy doesn't keep ANY medicine in stock! 3 days ago, I couldn't breathe. I went to the doctor's office, and they gave me a scrip. I went to this pharmacy, where they have a STANDING PRESCRIPTION for my medicine. Their response - it's not in stock. Come back tomorrow. I call the next day. Oh! It didn't come in. Tomorrow. For a RESCUE INHALER!!! I found a CVS that had it. Paid for two MORE lyfts to go and get it. By that time, it's too late. Another Lyft to the er. I have bronchitis. The er gives me a prescription. I go to the walmart. THEY DONT HAVE IT!!!!!! I take another service to go to a different pharmacy AGAIN!! Unbelievable. The only reason I go there is that I have their nasty prescription plan. I was dreading coming because I was expecting it to be packed like no other, in a Walmart kind of way. And guess what....'twas. I couldn't find what I needed at the KMart in Chillum so I made my way back into the District. Walking in I couldn't believe how many people were in Walmart. It looked like the mall during the holiday season. I was so surprised to see people pushing carts filled with groceries. Sometimes, you got to do what you got to do. I made my way over to the Electronics section and my man working that area was rolling. A question here, a phone call there. Slim was swamped but he was holding it down. He even pointed me to what I was looking for, a tv antenna. In an era of streaming, I mostly just watch the nightly news. I was having trouble finding them. I even found the cassette converters. The ones that allow you to play cds without a cd player. I knew if they had them they had to have antennas. If you are wonder, my cd player works fine. How else am I going to listen to The Black Album? "You know, you know, I'm busy, too scizzy".* After picking out an antenna, I made my way to the front and was expecting the worst. I honestly always hate coming to this Walmart because no matter the time of day they never have enough lines open. I decided to make a quick run to Walmart to get some snacks for my house since there is a possible snow storm coming. Of course they didn't have the main thing I wanted which was Greek yogurt with honey. So I had to get another product in exchange. It took me about 30 minutes to complete my shopping. Once I was done with shopping I decided to check out they only had two lines open. I understand that it is late and they are closing but to only have two lines open was ridiculous. The lines that were closed still had about 10+ people in the lines as they were trying to close. I think this Walmart needs to rethink their check out policy. I was lucky because the young lady that rang me out was quick. I will probably start coming to Walmart early in the morning because that's the only time I can get all my products and check out quickly. read more

Typical Walmart although on the small side for stores. It seemed as if their produce was not as plentiful as previous visits given empty baskets which hold the items. We were able to get in and out without too much pain given our limited items and able to use the fast checkout. I love the free and plentiful parking and garage environment to be able to get in and park without fighting for a spot. They do charge for bags at $.05 each so bring your own or be prepared to pay. read more

I've been to this location many times. It's always very poorly stocked. I've gotten home with groceries and realized that many things were expired - particularly produce or items from the bakery. I brought pastries to a party I picked up from the bakery at this location. I was super embarrassed when we got halfway through the box and someone pointed out they'd expired a few days prior. Today I went to buy frozen vegetables and almost all the shelves were empty. The lines are usually quite long. They may need to open more lanes. The one thing I do like about Walmart is their dairy seems to be better than Giant or other places. It's the only place I know of I can get fat free cream cheese and the cottage cheese is way better too. The location is convenient. There aren't a lot of options in this area within walking distance. So, I wish this were a little better managed. read more
