Terrible customer service at the a pharmacy. They told me they would not transfer a prescription from a CVS in Kansas City because that pharmacy didn't have a paper, written prescription. What? I called the KC store and they told me that this was unheard of. Doctors call in prescriptions now. Thankfully, the KC Pharmacist personally called this store and transferred my prescription. Otherwise, I would have been out of luck for my high blood pressure medication. read more

I will soon be visiting this pharmacy a lot less not out of desire but out of necessity, having changed jobs and gotten a new health plan that likes everything but CVS. For my last visit, I have yet again visited the most impressive thing I've seen there: pharmacist Mehret. He is positively unflappable. He handles all customer anxieties and complaints with aplomb. People are not usually at their most pleasant when dealing with the vagaries of our ridiculous health system. Nonetheless, Mehret goes above and beyond most recently phoning a hospital which had sent the spouse of a woman to this CVS to get a an injection they surely would have there. Every time I'm there I've seen him vaccinating people right and left and I live in my neighborhood a little more comfortably knowing that he's there to take care of people. read more

Listen- we all know CVS is garbage and an ordeal to be suffered regardless of your need. Nevertheless I had prescription to fill. I went to two CVSs near my home, both were out and guaranteed me that the CVS in Georgia Ave would have it. Jokes on me. This was by far the grossest CVS I have ever been to and the "pharmacists" were by far the biggest assholes. They get off on saying "no" and aren't the least concerned that you might actually NEED the medicine a doctor prescribes you to be WELL. I feel as though it's your regular CVS. Very convenient location, right by the Georgia Ave/Petworth Location. May not be the best as far as having everything, but I have gone there for basic needs and not had an issue. Not much store assistance. Walked around multiple times looking for a cream, maybe passed and employee twice and wasn't offered any assistance...but overall nothing but regular CVS experiences. read more

I feel for the pharmacist and the staff at most CVS locations in Washington, DC. I came to the Pethworth CVS to pick up a prescription for pneumonia that was written incorrectly by the discharging doctor on Friday 10/2/21. I went Saturday morning to pick up the medicine for the pharmacist was helpful and called the doctor and didn't have luck. I called first thing Monday morning and Tuesday morning, but this time I was told the pharmacist isn't answering for the doctor to correct their error and speak to them. It is now Wednesday afternoon and the pharmacist is packed with people and he doesn't answer the phone or does and says hold on until someone hangs up. Shame on CVS having people that work for them because they not have to fill prescriptions they need to give Covid shots. They are short staffed which causes for poor and long service. Try Safeway or Giant were I hear they're super nice and quick. I wish anyone else luck at any CVS in DC. If you go into the south NW CVS's they do have adequate staffing for people to go in and out of those establishments. read more

The drugstore itself is very large and well-stocked. The line for the cashier is kind of long and I felt bad for the woman who was servicing us all because she was apparently really frustrated by the line. She called the manager twice, who FINALLY sauntered over and was not helpful at all. However, my experience with the pharmacy is awesome. They are open late, always greet me with a smile, and I've never really encountered a line. They call me for my meds, call me if something is wrong, and verified my address to make sure I was all up to date. I had a horrendous experience with the CVS in Columbia Heights recently and although I end up walking by the Columbia Heights location more often than this one, I'm going to continue using this one and I'll just have to make sure I swing by more often. read more

There are CVS stores I go to, the Takoma Park CVS at 110 Carroll Street, which is well organized, professional, and courteous. The other one is on the corner of Georgia and New Hampshire avenues. That one needs work. Not so much the pharmacy but the front end there the checkout lines are. Often the checkout is unmanned and customers start backing up in a line five or six deep, arms full of items, before a cashier shows up. read more

This is my local pharmacy, and the lines are always long. But Mehmet, the pharmacist, is amazing--and super calm and friendly. The staff is professional, and kind, but they're always short staffed! I came here after work to get some medications for a prescription that was sent by my doctor weeks ago. Even though this time around I never received a text message directly from the pharmacy, I knew that I had come on the right date, because it's the same day of the month when I have been coming here for the past year. There was nobody being attended to by someone in the pharmacy, nevertheless it took the employee more than ten minutes to even find my previous prescriptions. Needless to say, there was no prescription here for me to pick-up. I realize that it was after hours, however, the employee didn't seem very motivated to track down the issue. Since it is Friday, there will be no hope in contacting my doctors office, to see if they could possibly re-send my prescription order. Where is a Supervisor person when you need one? Nowhere to be found over here! Fortunately for me though, I have back-up medications at home that will carry me through the weekend. read more

CVS finally opened in our neighborhood in July 2010. It's a great neighborhood amenity. The store is big and nice and has almost everything you'd expect to find. The pharmacy is open until 10 but the store as a whole is, disappointingly, only open until 11. I wish it was open until at least midnight. Also you can tell CVS is a bit suspicious of our neighborhood. There is always a cop in the store and there is some railing set up to make it so you can only exit the store by walking right by the checkout counter. Oh well, I'm just so happy we have a CVS now in Park View! read more

The good- there is a parking lot which is rare for DC but the spaces are extremely tight and there's only one way in and out. The bad-the line was long and unrealistically slow. For such a large store why were there only 2 cashiers working on a busy Friday afternoon The ugly- turning into the parking lot, the loiterers and the customer service. I have no real complaints about this CVS. From what I have heard it has really helped clean up the neighborhood some and bring in some more development. I just moved to the neighborhood and so I can't speak for the condition before it opened. It's convenient having a CVS right there. As a new transplant to DC I didn't have a SmarTrip card, and since there is a subway stop and CVS next to eachother it helped out. Besides SmarTrip cards, this CVS has pretty much anything else other CVS's have. It is clean and well stocked. The line can get long sometimes, but hopefully that will change as more places open up immediately around it. read more

Only one thing to say about this CVS: SLOWEST CHECKERS IN THE WHOLE FREAKIN' CITY! I mean seriously, my 80 y.o. mother could move faster than these disinterested bozos. 5:00 pm, my bus arrives in 5 minutes. I figure I've got enough time to slip into CVS for a pack of my favorite addiction, red-hot atomic fireballs. In line, with exactly one person ahead of me and two checkers on the registers. "No Problem!" you would think. But 5 minutes later I'm still in line and my bus is pulling up outside. If this miserable excuse for a pharmacy had those automated check-out stands, I might...MIGHT give them an extra star, but I guess at GeorPet we don't even rate those little time-savers. You are much better off picking up your prescriptions to Columbia heights target or the Safeway. Takes an unbelievably long time to get anything, even behind the counter allergy medicine. every single time I go in for a medication they screw something up. The reason it isn't crowded is probably because they drove people away. I haven't had trouble with finding or buying other things there but there has been such a problem with my medications it still gets 1 star. I was looking to make a return on a CVS 100% money back guarantee product. I first had to wait a long time in the line and when I finally arrived at the checkout I was told that I was unable to return the item. I understand it was partially my fault for not bringing the recipt but I had left it in Virginia. (i was out in DC) for the weekend. However it was a CVS product and all the Virginia CVS follow the company policy. Usually they will just give you store credit to use at any CVS but this place was terrible. read more

Very happy when it opened because it was very convenient to my house. The staff - both store and pharmacy - are lazy and unhelpful. The worst part of the experience however is the condition of the store. It is filthy. When I go in one we want to touch anything. The carpeting is stained and it does not appear that it has been vacuumed in months. I cringe every time I enter. read more

The pharmacy is a disaster. I wish I could give them no stars. On a Saturday they had one person on the register and the other person was just wandering behind the counter, while customers were waiting forever. I called to order my medication and was told it would be ready in an hour. I get there an hour after and was told it will be ready in 5 minutes. I waited probably 20-30 minutes after that. I get the sense they're disorganized and understaffed. I've been to a lot of Cvs pharmacies and this was definitely one of the worst. read more

I would rate this 0 stars but this gets two because (1) this is super convenient and (2) there is one pharmacist that is awesome and has been helpful. However, the cashiers/assistants there are slow and rude. Once, when a customer in front of me asked about a prescription, I (and others in line too) heard the assistant yell the name of the prescription to the pharmacist. I would have been furious if I were that guy (and indeed, I could see his face turn red and I was two people behind him), as the prescription the assistant yelled was "Viagra." I want so badly for this place to be a good drug store, but after a year and a half in the neighborhood, I'm done. I'm not even holding against them the usual long lines or the fact that I've never once seen a staff member out on the floor to help customers with questions -- that's just understaffing. But the attitude I got today, in an entirely typical experience, is the problem. I'd called in a prescription refill yesterday, and ordered it to be ready by 9 this morning. When my wife stopped by the store at around 2 PM, they said it wasn't ready but she could wait. She didn't want to wait, so they said to come back after 5. I went to the store at 6:30. There was no one at the prescription counter. When someone finally did come over, she told me the prescription wasn't ready. I explained to her that it had already been promised both at 9 and then at 5. She responded "well whoever put it in ordered it for 10," like that was all there was to it. She then ignored me, turned around, and walked away from me while I was in the middle of asking her how long it would take if I waited for them to fill it. It took them 10 minutes; she was either being intentionally slow as a passive aggressive response, or she normally moves that speed which explains while everything's always late at this store. The thing is, I moved to this neighborhood a year and a half ago, I go to the drug store at least once a month, and this an entirely typical experience. Again, I understand that it's a busy, understaffed city drug store. I don't mind waiting. But just look at me and say "hey, I'm sorry we didn't have that for you on time, we'll get it now." Don't act like you couldn't care less that your screw-up is wasting my time. PS: They consistently have food past its sell-by date on the shelves. read more

They have great customer service from my experience. Yes the lines are long but you can't say that the cashiers aren't trying and doing their best to move fast, there are some customers who are very precise on some things and they keep the line from moving it isn't the cashiers fault. Just one thing their items aren't where they should be sometimes and it's very confusing, overall its okay. read more
