We stopped by the Costco in Washington, D.C., located at 2441 Market Street NE, to take a look around while we were in town. One thing that immediately stood out is that this location sells hard liquor, unlike Costco locations in my home state of Virginia. Their selection was impressive, with everything from everyday bottles to higher-end spirits, and the prices seemed very reasonable for the quality offered. The store itself was well stocked, clean, and organized, making it easy to find what we were looking for. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even though the store was busy, the checkout lines moved quickly. Another plus was the parking. There was ample parking available, and the spaces were laid out well enough to make loading purchases into the vehicle much easier. Overall, we had a great experience at this Costco. We stopped here 30mins before closing and it was a very good visit. The store was not packed but there were maybe 75-90 shoppers. I appreciated that the DC Metro Police were onsite and it made us feel good to see them; instead of the Natl Guard. Our shopping was seamless and quick. There are items here that are not in CA Costcos. We were happy to see how organized and well maintained the merchandise is here. The only thing that we couldn't find was coffee creamer. In CA, the creamer is in the dairy freezer room, but not here. The food court has a Caramel Brownie Sundae that we do not have in CA. It's $2.99 but huge and looks yummy. We ordered a half cheese half pepperoni pizza and a chicken bake. Waiting on the pizza is a long 15min from ordering but I am sure it is worth the wait. I normally wouldn't post about a Costco interaction because as a military family, we have lived in 7 different states and your customer service is usually horrible. HOWEVER, my interaction today with Dante had me SHOCKED by superior customer service. He was friendly, personable and professional, ALL of which is not the norm. Most of the employees nationwide look like they hate life! Please recognize Dante and let him know that as a front line member of your organization, he truly is an ASSET. It's a pain to get to becuase it's in DC but it's the only Costco in the region that has liquor. The staff are incredibly friendly, the store is always neat, and customers are actually super nice too. Of course it's still hectic becuase it's a Costco but there seem to be amazing food trucks and fruit stands out in the parking lot with no signage but always a line full of people. I'm totally going to have to give them a try. Their jewelry selection is much more limited thank in the burbs. read more

This is an amazing Costco. They could absolutely use Scan & Go like Sam's Club. They have the best prices on alcohol, even compared to buying drinks from class six, and Costco was, in some cases, $20 cheaper. read more

This Costco location is one of the best in the DMV for me- I just went in Friday around 5:30pm and I did not feel so stressed and overwhelmed by people as the other locations. There is a selection of liquor, beer, and wine that is a great place to stop by before a party! The staff was very friendly and helpful in all the locations! I got some cute gifts for my family/friends since May is the Everything month (7 close people have birthdays ). TIRE CENTER RATING ONLY: The staff has bad attitudes consistently. They act like you're bothering them when you come in for any sort of work. I called to make an appointment for a tire rotation and was put on hold for so long, I forgot I was on hold and tried to make another call only to discover it had been 18 minutes of silence with nobody coming back to the line. I called back and was unapologetically told they had people in the store waiting so I needed to wait and it could be another 15-20 minutes. I came in today for a tire rotation and was early for my 11:30 appt. It takes about 20 mins to rotate tires, so I would expect to be out around noon; however, this location is notorious for not knowing how to manage their time. The woman working the counter told me my car would be the next in the bay and the work would be started within 15 minutes, completed in AN HOUR AND A HALF. Excuse me?! Are they hand cranking the lug nuts? Fast forward to 1 PM, I get the call and assume my car is ready. No. They just pulled it in and hadn't even started. When I asked what happened, one of the workers called the manager over because I was apparently giving him attitude. The manager and I had a cordial conversation and I gave him candid feedback that was received apologetically. My car was done in 20 mins as expected. The manager said they're short staffed today. I told him this is an ongoing problem that I only encounter at this Costco. He said he will talk with his staff. A manager has always promised this when I inevitably have to talk to them. I will say the lady who works the front desk had much less attitude than the last time I was here. The tire center needs to recognize their customers' time is valuable and not all of us have 2+ hours to kill at Costco for a 20 min tire rotation. read more

Whew, I feel like I have to steel my nerves and add on lots of patience anytime I head here since I can only go on weekends. We just joined this year due to boycotting another big box store. We tried the one in Silver Spring but the aisles are so narrow there. Even if you go right when they open, the parking lot is a mess. With this one, at least the aisles are pretty wide but there are sooo many guests at one time that it's hard to navigate and look around. As a new customer, I'm still not sure of the different things they offer because of how crowded it is. They also need to work on the queueing situation for checkout. And please, can we design the stores so I can bag my groceries after checkout instead of out at my car? But overall, most items are a huge value and I'm glad I joined. read more

Very good selection and store size. I try to avoid going from 4-6 PM on weekdays because that's when the line is crazy and the gas line is ridiculous . For parking you'll definitely find a spot , just may take a bit longer during the times mentioned above . read more

Yikes, that could really sum up my experience here. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot until I got back in my vehicle to come home, I felt like I was rushed to complete my trip here. I can almost echo what was said by another reviewer that this is a place I would be fine with to only visit 2-3 times a year. There are other Costcos out there that seem to be better prepared to serve an influx of customers. When I pulled into the parking lot it was nothing but congestion. You waited in line to get into the parking lot and then when you were in the parking lot you waited in line for the number of vehicles in front of you to park. I got tired of this and parked in the first spot I saw. I didn't care that I had to walk what felt like a half mile to the store, but I wasn't going to wait in that line any longer. Once inside it was like a mad dash to just grab items and go. I kind of did that here. I ended up grabbing items I haven't seen in other locations just to buy them. That is probably why I ended up with that huge bottle of Vodka that I have yet to open. I did have a purpose here when I came in. I wanted to buy in bulk items that I have finally started to run out of since moving to the area. Toilet paper, tissues, etc. I made my way to that area and then immediately regretted that decision. This was quite possible the most congested part of this store. If I remember correctly, it is right near the produce section and everyone is just kind of standing there waiting for the person in front of them to finally figure out which amount of an item to put in their cart. Standing in the way with their carts every way in the aisle but the way it is easiest to get around. I will say, once I was out of that area I was able to grab everything else I had in mind and then some. I then went towards the front to try and pay. I figured that I would go to the self checkout area and make swift work of this. However, Costco had something else in mind. They basically turned the self checkouts into regular registers. You couldn't check your own items out. An employee did it for you. Effectively making this another bottleneck situation. In the end, it wasn't worth it to me. I felt like I wasted more time here than I needed to. I felt like I was being disciplined for just shopping in this store. Scolded for not following rules that weren't posted. How were you supposed to know where the line for self checkouts were if you just kept telling people to go. Then it was back out to the parking lot to load up my vehicle and pray to the gods that I would be able to get out of there. I would have been out of there sooner if it wasn't for the person in front of me not knowing how to parallel park. I will say this. I will go to the Costco in my area again before revisiting this one any time soon. Or, if need be, I will venture further out to a location for my sanity. read more

If I could rate this location a 0 star I would. My partner and I came to purchase a new membership together and after hearing of all the perks having the executive membership offers, we kindly declined and that's when everything went downhill. William, at membership services, attitude changed and he became a tad irritable. When I say irritable I mean he started disregarding me as I spoke and didn't want to help me because my partner was the sole membership holder. When we attempted to add me on the card as the second person he said we couldn't because our IDs didn't have the same address. He said we had to bring in mail to prove we lived together. When it came time to check out our cashier was downright rude! When I mentioned how a lot of the employees there were unkind she stated, "I'm just hungry." Her attitude sort of changed after that comment. I wish the bad experience ended there but it didn't all the items that were marked down weren't. We paid full price for items advertised a different price. I will only be coming back to this Costco only if needed. read more

They might as well send me an AARP card now! So I recently just got my own Coscto card! I feel like a real grown up now. I used to just always go with my parents because why would I really need to buy in bulk?! I decided to stop by last week and it was busy over here. I mean traffic jams and it was only about 11 a.m. I wasn't even getting gas because that line just looked crazy. With these gas prices going back up, I might start getting my gas here. I really just wanted to browse the store and I had a $10 "gift card" for when I became a member that I wanted to use. I always heard this location sells liquor and I wanted to see the hype! That's the first place I went in the store and their selection is huge (well much more than I expected). I also assumed that it would have just been Kirkland brands but surprisingly, they sell popular brands of wine and spirits (Ciroc, Captain Morgan) and some high end options that were locked up! I picked up a few bottles of the cheaper ones - nothing too crazy though! I really appreciated the low prices. I also some detergent that was on sale and I was out of there. I got to use my $10 gift card! The lines seemed long but the actually moved quickly and they had an employee directing customers where to go. I thought that was very efficient. It's certainly gotten better over the years in terms of crowd control, traffic direction, and cart bottlenecks, but still their customer service is poor. The cashier today was rude and disgruntled, waving her hands and barking at me to stay away from the woman in line in front of me after initially she was the one waving me forward. The customer who was in front of me was standing nearly back to back with another customer paying at the adjacent register, but my cashier had no problem with that yet wanted to give me an attitude. Your surliness does not go unnoticed, lady. I come her mostly because it's the only Costco I know near me that sells cheap alcohol. Otherwise I should go to the one closer to me. Avoid Saturday and Sunday! My friend went right at 10am when they opened today, but there was already a line of, I kid you not, 100 people waiting outside. read more

Selection - good, they do have discounts if you do need to buy in bulk. 3. BEWARE- absolutely no concept of social distancing going on here. Even the store clerks yell at you for not moving closer to the person before you if you try to keep the 6 feet distance. Prices for alcohol is the absolute best in the DC area. However they need to train their staff better. For the first time in my life I had a Costco staff lecturing my wife and I on how we cut the line except for the fact that we didn't. When we explained to her that we weren't cutting the line, she just brushed us off. Also that staff member also proceeded to reprimand the person who she accused us of cutting because he had a question on the self checkout. I have been a member for over 2 years now. I am here almost twice every month to purchase anywhere from groceries to clothes and electronic items. I recently purchased MacBook Pro 13.3" with Touch Bar with Apple care + support. I initially bought the same product from Best Buy and informed my friend about the purchase. The weekends, on the other hand, can be a bit crowded if you are a shopper that is in a rush. In either case, the lines and checkout move fast. From fresh baked goods, prime cuts & meats, seafood....great deals on electronics.....to all your main home staple needs.....this place has it all. There is even an Tire Service and Optical Eye Care Center at this location, where I find it very convenient and easy to purchase eye-wear/contacts well below market price. Add all of this together.....and a gas station where you can fill-up on discounted gas.....what more could you want!? Get a membership and try this place out....you won't regret it. The Good - You may purchase liquor here. The Ugly - The lines are out of control! They need to do a better job at managing them. Parking lot - There is only one way out of the parking lot - who was the design genius! - With all the residences already built, and those expected in the area, it's only going to worsen. Lastly, the entrance to the gas station was also not a good design. Drivers are exiting Route 50 and coming against a stop sign that allows you to make a right onto the gas station - whose traffic backs up, continue forward to access the one Costco parking lot entrance or continue to the rest of the shopping area. I gave it two stars because I expect more of Costco. - You are almost giving a Walmart execution and feel. - That is not good comparison. Horrible! Sad! read more

this reviews much better than the one in Pentagon City. why 3? the cornish hens are worth more, some of the best chicken. the alcohol seems like 1/2 price. it was a box of cereal that had been openned and retaped shut, with damaged bags inside it. I get back so rarely it literally turned into chicken feed. Don't come to this Costco unless you looking to be treated rudely. First problem we had was at the self-checkout. We were informed that we can't make separate transactions under one membership, which is understandable. We told the lady to take the one item I needed out. For some reason she calls another employee to have her come and just argue with my husband when we already agreed on it and didn't want to buy the item, said we could cancel our membership if we had a problem. . THEN we were waiting for our pizzas to come out and of course we had an another male employee named Darrick come and push our cart out his way without asking us to just move aside. My husband clearly asked why he had to do that and this man starts making a fist at him and walked away. What in the world is wrong with these people. Been coming here but that's changing. They no longer are providing the same type of organization & protection in COVID. Carts are not being sanitized, no orderly line to get in & it does not seem as though they are limiting amount of folks in. Other than that this COSTCO has a great beer & wine selection! For 10 or less items you can use the self check out. Bakery section is awesome although they no longer sell sheet cakes. No food court area like Pentagon City COSTCO but they have a separate area to order food. The parking lot is a nightmare so be patient. Line for gas can vary but the price is worth the wait. Line to check out is always long. Shop at an odd time to avoid long lines. read more
