I've gone into this Exchange several tens of times and typically I can find anything I'm looking for. This is a fairly large exchange (2 levels) with a small food court on the second level, as well as what is now a ScriptCenter kiosk (used to be an actual pharmacy) next to customer service, and a uniform "shop" in the front on the first floor, AND a Class Six (liquor store) on the first floor as well. I will say that more often than not, there is something going on with the escalators so you may be able to travel one way on the escalator but not the other, requiring you to take the elevator back up/down. I find that this exchange is always pretty well stocked and have never had an issue with them being out of whatever item(s) I came for, and just like any other exchange, items are typically priced a little cheaper than their out in town equivalent, with the addition of tax-free sales. The store is typically pretty well organized and well maintained, always clean, and the staff is relatively friendly/helpful. read more

The tailoring and name tape area personnel were very helpful in identifying what I had needed for my uniform and where to purchase it. Instead of just telling me which aisle, they walked me to the area, pointed out the product, and proceeded to check my items out at the counter. You can also get your uniform or white coat tailored here. For the name tapes I purchased (the plastic ones), there's a ~$5 one time service fee. After that, it's $3 a name tape. The person made it immediately and it took less than 10 minutes. read more

Decided to take a drive down from Detrick to check out the NEX. I have family in VA Beach so we miss all that the navy exchange has to offer in comparison to the army PX. Parking was easy, covered, and a ton of space. There was a great selection of skin care, purses, clothing, and hygiene. Fair selection of electronics. Shoe selection was a little smaller than what we're use to and there was virtually no toy selection (my son was disappointed). Overall, 1000x better than the Px near home but the NEX in VA Beach and Norfolk set a high bar. read more

While on base, we decided to visit the exchange to waste some time. This is a two story building with escalators and elevators inside. The parking lot is a reasonable size and even has spots for compact cars. I enjoyed seeing how clean and kept this store is. Everything is nicely organized with signs clearly posted. The best of it all were the clearance sections! They weren't the greatest deals, but something is better than nothing. Downstairs they have a convenience store little section to include two pharmacy windows if I'm not mistakes. Maybe they were just customer service? Regardless, they had a wider selection of medicine and such than I have seen at other exchange locations. Their packaging section (alcohol) was exquisite also. Many drinks I've never seen before and even a cigar room. You can tell a lot of time and effort is put into this location and it is appreciated. I finally got on base to visit the NEX & it is was all that I remember from my younger visits...nowadays more modernized with all the current trends. Oppose from decades ago when the NEX was more like a depot or surplus store, present day reflects the mall schematic or popular retail store. You can shop for clothing, jewelry, household items, textiles, with offering Barbering/Hair/Nail services, Food Court & a huge Beer/Wine/Liquor department. All active Military, Retirees & designated Civilians can shop at the NEX which are located throughout the US & Overseas on military bases & on some Navy Vessels...shop on a ship while on the water. Great benefit for Honorably Discharged Vets who get to shop tax-free online. Thank you Military Universe for your sacrifice & service. read more

I love this NEX store for the robust selection of items normally unavailable at a small base like this and carrying items also not found on their online store. I just wish the checkout experience is better. I waited in line to get myself rung up during the weekday past 1430 and had only two customers in front of me who had less than 4-5 items each. This should not take more than 30 minutes but it somehow did. The particular POS wasn't offline or down that day either. It's just a mystery to me every time I visit how it can take so long for checkout. My other gripes are the insanely hot temperature inside the store. I've come here twice when their A/C was down. I thought I was going to just pass out. For this reason, I'm very weary about going there during the summer and I'm completely unwilling to purchase any chocolates or heat sensitive vitamins or supplements. Can you imagine going home and finding out your chocolates are entirely melted like dog poo and your gummy vitamins had been turned into a sticky taffy? Anyhow, I'd suggest people go there if you have lots of time and not in any sort of rush. Otherwise it's a stellar NEX with good deals and selections. read more

The young man whom assisted me was kind, but i noticed his error after I got home. I purchased one Apple mouse but he charged me for two. I called the store and spoke with Michael in electronics whom instructed me to bring in my bags so that they can confirm that I only received one. I purchased makeup and soap at their register, so I can't use anything until I can return to the store. My issue with this is, that I asked the young man if he rang the item up twice and he said no. The receipt was literally 38 inches long, so I didn't double check it there until I got home and went through the items in the bag versus what was on the receipt. This is where I went wrong. I should have checked the receipt there but I trusted his word that he only rang it up once. That was my fault for trusting that he would only charge me for the items I wanted to purchase. I drove from Woodbridge and have to go back on a weekend because it's too far to drive when working further away from this Exchange. I decided to return all of the products and get a full refund. I told Michael the time of the transaction, register, transaction number, and product in question so that they could review the security camera. I have no reason to lie, but it is very frustrating to drive back up there because of their mistake and somehow treated like I stole something when in fact, they stole $79 from me. read more

Very nice NEX with plenty of of merchandise on both floors. Not sure why its operating hours listed in Yelp as closing at 1800. Confirmed with its employee on 12/05/15 as 2000. This place has many selections for electronic goods with many clearance items; however, even some clearance prices are no match for Amazon. 6/12/16 - Very disappointed to finds out that the gas price on base is more expensive than outside. Therefore, don't bother to fill your tanks in base. read more

Very deceptive pricing. They cover up the "your price" and then state they provide discounts on items. I saw this for north face and Nike. They really are not providing a discount but charging what the intended price is. No one pays MSRP on clothing anymore, not even at Nike or north face store. The other issues here is the items are tagged one price and come up another and worst issue of them all is even though they say sale they do not ring up as sale items and then it takes forever for them to confirm there sales. I am sorry there is lots of options and this is no longer an option for me to shop as they are overpriced and they blame corporate for the deceptive practice. read more

Finally! Revamped and ready. I've been to many exchanges - Pearl Harbor, San Diego, K-Bay, Moffett Field, Andrews AFB, ... and this one is for sure one of the better ones. They have all the newer things you need on two levels. A barber shop, nail salon, Things Remembered, snacks, greeting cards, drugstore items, camping items, work out equipment and supplements, bedding, bath, kitchenware, electronics, washer dryers, garbage cans, luggage, tvs, computers, iPads, cameras, vacuums, cellphones, clothing, shoes, purses - kate spade, coach, dooney and burke, michael korrs, .. , cosmetics - Lancome, Kiels, Shisedo, Clinique, BareMinerals, .. tons of perfume, and there's also a food court with Subway, American Taco, Panda Express, .. and a Navy Fed ATM. Somethings are truly cheaper than the civilian world, but because they only have a limited space to sell what you'd find at a Macy's and a CVS all together, they don't have a wide selection of certain items, but most brands are good enough. Wish a commissary was attached but at least the Package Store is back! Wines, cigars, cigarettes, hard alcohol, beer and a walk-in fridge of beer. They've got your girly mixers if you need that too. The new Navy Exchange at Bethesda is very nice and quite huge. The downstairs is filled with consumables, toiletries, and electronics, while the upstairs has apparel, jewelry, cosmetics, and shoes. Also downstairs is a liquor store and some shops (florist, watch repair), etc., while there's a food court upstairs. There's a dedicated parking garage for the store, plus overflow parking. I'm excited to see Bobbi Brown & Benefit at the NEX, as well as Kate Spade items. Staff has been welcoming and friendly. It's probably the nicest exchange in the area, so if you have shopping privileges, I recommend checking it out. read more

This is the third two-floor NEX I've been to, and also the smallest one--compared to the Exchange in San Diego or the Kadena BX. It has a covered parking garage aside from a few spots outside near the mini-mart, which is convenient. If you've been to any other NEX, the selection here isn't much different with the exception of a few prominently displayed brands in various sections, i.e. a large display for Ralph Lauren polo shirts in the men's clothing area occupies a large area. The Pride Section, as limited as it is, has some memorabilia that only a few NEX's carry--like large, hand-woven USN throws and wall carpets. There is also a memorabilia personalization section right next to it, customizing everything from shadow boxes to challenge coins. Depending on the section, you could find quite a few items on clearance as well. Overall, it's an "okay" Exchange. Nothing sticks out, but it does carry most things you may need and a number of regional items, as well. read more

This is the exchange I visit most often. It's a great spot that also boasts a food court, Navy FCU branch and a liquor store. When you walk into the top floor of the exchange it feels like you've walked in to a department store like Macy's. Clothing selection is vast for men, women, children and even infants. There's a make up section on part with Macy's where you can have a session. There is also a jewelry counter with a broad selection of fine jewelry and fine watches. Also there's a sunglasses section where you'll find all the latest styles from the most popular brands. On the lower level there is a grocery side and on the other side there is a large electronics area and a large housewares area. I'd compare this level to Target but in a smaller scale. On this level there is also a beauty shop and a liquor store. Located in Bethesda, it is convenient to anyone in Montgomery County or the district. read more

Stopped by here today to pick up staples and had to take a moment to review the NEX. I love shopping here! If you are fortunate enough to have on base privileges you really should use this resource. This store is always clean, well stocked and staffed with helpful folks. Notable items I recommend: reserve cheeses are about half the cost as off base, their package store is similarly discounted and you should look for sale bottles-even better prices! This NEX has the best clothes selection I have seen, San Diego (32nd street) was also on par but did not carry the same brands. Lastly, this place has a built in pharmacy!!!!! You can run your errands while your Rx's are prepared. I always leave here with exactly what I came in for! read more

I want to like this place. I really do. it's fine until you look for things in your size. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they stock loads and loads of Bali padded bras in C, D, and DD cups, and the only B cup Bali bras that they stock are unpadded. I had a discussion with the manager, who told me that this was because Bali only makes bras for fuller figured women. I think sometimes they make this stuff up. Great for electronics. Nice and clean NEX but heaven forbid you need to do a verbal price match and/or bring in an ad that's over $10 from a competitor. Each time they have to call the manager over and waste 10-20 minutes when they should already know their price matching policy. Sad when a service member knows the policies more than the actual employees. Do yourself a favor and spend the additional money on tax and avoid the headache. read more

This NEX location is very nice. Always well organized and the facilities are well kept. There's also plenty of parking always available. Prices can be steep for items like electronics, compared to Walmart and the like... but for other items like jewelry and clothes, there are great buys. They also have a mini food court with a Panda Express and Subway, with ample seating, which is nice... along side a Navy Federal. It's really a one stop shop. read more

The actual Navy Exchange store set up is very nice. Some of the staff around the store are friendly and perhaps even personable to the extent of being helpful. But, then you have your five or six that makes you believe that the NEX does not believe in training their staff beyond taking the money because majority of the cashiers are no more than rude and unprofessional servants of the store. It's like they are at the store to scare away the business, it's like they treat everyone the same too. It's a dry toned, sleepy eye "who's next" vibe one gets possibly! ???? 1One1- Star* because looks are deceiving at this NEX on this base, it looks nice on the outside and then once again when you go in, but once you get inside and start needing to inquiry about any of their "goods and services" then that's when it often takes a turn for the WORST! Even when you avoid asking ?s the cashiers are often unfriendly, unkind, then rude and slow-----ful as a turtle! Fantastic store. I echo all previous comments! One thing to add: the barber shop is head and shoulders above any other in the NEX fleet. I received the best haircut of my life today for only $9. My barber's name was Kinh Do, and I recommend personally seeking him out. As someone who is generally willing to pay $30+ out on the town for a decent haircut, Kinh has the persnickety attention to detail and techniques of a high end haircutter for a bargain basement price! Since you enter the store you feel unwelcome by employees that they not even care that you are the one doing business there, specially shoe department, very rude, more than once employees cross in front of you invading your personal space, I was walking with my kids inside the store when a female employee cross in from of me without even care i was walking with my little kids, almost hitting one, other employee ask me permission "in a force way to move when i was trying shoes for my kids. read more

Where to begin! This place is amazing...so much better than any Army/Air Force Exchange. There was ample parking, the floors were exceptionally clean, and the prices are great. When I visited, virtually all clothing brands were 20% off and I bought an entire wardrobe of Ralph Lauren, Lucky Brand, and Tommy H for less than $600.00. I have had too many bad experiences at this Navy Exchange. When years ago one of their employees harassed my young Daughters for looking at toys, saying they needed an adult present? And he terrified them. They came running to me in fear. And I called out that employee in front of his store manager? Who upheld my point that was not policy? And I show you a printed ad showing one mile away, a lower price and you REFUSE to honor policy (the exact store employee who harassed my Daughters)? You want to call the other store and waste my off duty time while you do that? I mean, I said Jerk, I will drive the mile and pay at that store, which I did. If you drive me away, how are you serving me? Twenty years as a customer. And I am always leery about shopping your store. Kinda of disturbing, you are supposed to SERVE me. read more
