I went on an adventure to the Navy Exchange with my dad (need a Military ID). I was so surprised how big the store is. Pretty good inventory, decent prices, very clean and organized. Customer service was great.

While on base, we decided to visit the exchange to waste some time. This is a two story building with escalators and elevators inside. The parking lot is a reasonable size and even has spots for compact cars. I enjoyed seeing how clean and kept this store is. Everything is nicely organized with signs clearly posted. The best of it all were the clearance sections! They weren't the greatest deals, but something is better than nothing. Downstairs they have a convenience store little section to include two pharmacy windows if I'm not mistakes. Maybe they were just customer service? Regardless, they had a wider selection of medicine and such than I have seen at other exchange locations. Their packaging section (alcohol) was exquisite also. Many drinks I've never seen before and even a cigar room. You can tell a lot of time and effort is put into this location and it is appreciated. I was even able to sit in on a product demonstration and got a free gift!

Small NEX but very clean. Not very big or it doesnt have great selections. If at Walter Reed it is a place to get some food.

I finally got on base to visit the NEX & it is was all that I remember from my younger visits...nowadays more modernized with all the current trends. Oppose from decades ago when the NEX was more like a depot or surplus store, present day reflects the mall schematic or popular retail store. You can shop for clothing, jewelry, household items, textiles, with offering Barbering/Hair/Nail services, Food Court & a huge Beer/Wine/Liquor department. All active Military, Retirees & designated Civilians can shop at the NEX which are located throughout the US & Overseas on military bases & on some Navy Vessels...shop on a ship while on the water. Great benefit for Honorably Discharged Vets who get to shop tax-free online. Thank you Military Universe for your sacrifice & service.

Now they have extra 50%off sale. I got to find s Victoria Secret's underwear around $2. Lucky! And Calvin Kline bra was $44 and is about $12 now. Men's t-shirts $8-... Volcom's organic Cotten too.

See this our price but then cover it and say 20% off suggested retail.

Very deceptive pricing. They cover up the "your price" and then state they provide discounts on items. I saw this for north face and Nike. They really are not providing a discount but charging what the intended price is. No one pays MSRP on clothing anymore, not even at Nike or north face store. The other issues here is the items are tagged one price and come up another and worst issue of them all is even though they say sale they do not ring up as sale items and then it takes forever for them to confirm there sales. I am sorry there is lots of options and this is no longer an option for me to shop as they are overpriced and they blame corporate for the deceptive practice.

Saks in Chevy Chase is a throwback to a more genteel era. Stores like this used to have snooty…read morereputations but nowadays I always find the staff very friendly and welcoming. While the standalone men's store across the District line is now sadly gone, the third floor is now the men's department and has just a good of a selection as the old store. What I like about Saks compared to Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales is that Saks still has a top notch, high quality private label collection of menswear basics. In addition, their sales can be great, especially on the private label clothes. The new parking lot arrangement is very odd. When you park you have to scan a QR code, pay for parking, and then Saks can give you a discount code inside that makes it free. It's a lot of steps for what used to be just handing over a validation ticket. Given that the clientele here skews quite old, I can't imagine this change has gone over well. If you are a regular customer, your sales associate can register your plate and then you don't need to go through this whole rigamarole each time.

I called their customer service about it. The wait was not too long. The customer service representative could not find anything about it. He seemed annoyed by my request. He gave me the phone number of a third party company that handles their credit card transaction to confirm whether the transaction went through or was a hold. He was ready to hang up to get rid of me. Why should I call a different company? Anyways, I did it, after being on hold for 20 minutes, the other representative was just as clueless, did not ask for any information. Once I told him it was an amex card, he told me they only handle visa and mastercard transactions. Now I need to call Saks again to find the subsidiary that handles their amex transaction?! What a horrible waste of time, and inefficient workflow. They should have audit logs in place for their representatives to access and understand what went wrong. They just had zero explanation and wasted my time for nothing.

The shopping carts were kind of stuck, so had to really jar them loose. Browsed around the different aisles and looked for items on sale, if there were any. Noticed the Electronics' section had minimized in terms of the space used and also the inventory. Earphones were in locked spaces, along with the PS5 games. DVDs/Movies were also locked away. Saw some Funko Pop figurines, but for regular retail prices. Apple iPhone Cases were on sale, but still pretty expensive. Walked around to see the drinks and food aisles, which had a good variety of things to choose from. Chips and gummies were on the expensive side compared to other stores. Bought some Organic Milk, which was $5.99 a gallon. Christmas themed clothes for the kids were intriguing. For Adults, there seemed to be some odd looking clothes for the Holidays, like the fabric and styles were eccentric looking. Personal hygiene and toiletries were adequately stocked. Saw some items on sale for the Men's Cremo products as well as The Rock's personal care items.

I can't understand why so many businesses can't manage a simple phone line anymore but for an organization as resourceful and longstanding as Target this is beyond unacceptable. They're also terrible at handling product restocks, shifting inventory, and managing store policies. Many items are overpriced and low quality. The one "saving grace" is most floor level employees are friendly but that's the only nice thing I can truthfully say. Hopefully we will get some better alternatives in the area to shop at in the near future..

I've only seen the area from the highways that are tree lined. I am quite amazed by how out of touch I was for this area. This mall is quite expansive. The one thing I love about the DMV area is that the malls are still thriving. Not to the point where every single store is filled, but no where near dead mall territory. I had some time to kill before I had to head back home and wanting to pick up some items. Parking here had me. I wasn't sure where would be the best place to park. I ended up in the outdoor lots and didn't even want to mess with the parking structure. As a note, early here means you will encounter a slew of parents with their children in tow. Be careful and mindful in the parking lot as they will be everywhere. The mall had a bit of everything in here. The typical anchors and national chains you would expect to find in a mall. Food court area was jammed with eateries and customers. I opted to not eat here. Would definitely come back. Especially on a lazy day. Good people watching, enough stores to grab whatever you might be thinking of getting, and ample parking.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this mall after so many years! The food court is always packed with people with many different choices. The restaurants available inside the mall is always interesting. I saw a new Thai takeaway place downstairs near where Claire's used to be. The selections of the store keeps evolving. I had no idea Lululemon moved and has a bigger store now. It's hard to believe that the malls in America are dying when you see how crazy busy it is at the Mall. I couldn't find parking until I parked closer to the old Sears lot. And that was during a weekday well after Christmas and New Year's too. My nickname at work used to be the Mall Rat Haha! I can't wait to discover what new stores are coming and going the next time I return.
