Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars I went straight from the hospital to this CVS pharmacy around 7:50 PM needing my prescriptions, already exhausted and in an ankle boot. The woman at the counter told me only 1 of my 3 prescriptions was filled. I asked if I could quickly make a call to find out why, she said yes, and while standing right there in front of her, I found out my insurance issue was literally caused by one letter being off in my name. As soon as I explained that, instead of helping, she immediately said, "I can't help you, we close in 30 seconds." The time was 7:58 PM -- not even 8:00 yet. She didn't even bother checking me out for the one prescription that was already filled. I understand employees want to leave on time, but refusing to help someone who just came from the hospital, standing there in an ankle boot, over a matter of minutes was unbelievably cold and unprofessional. I was literally trying to move as fast as possible while injured, only to be dismissed. This was some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I am very upset with my experience at CVS 12th street NE today. I was at the pharmacy and got there before 8:00 and was told they were closed. Even though my prescription was ready, and it would've taken less than a minute to a minute to fetch it and pay. I was also treated poorly with the woman using a rude tone and being short and curt. I really needed this medicine today, and it was crucial for me to get it. The fact that they couldn't provide a basic service for something so important is extremely unbelievable and unprofessional. Truly as awful as the reviews say. I have moved away and they charged my insurance for a prescription I have not picked up and never will, that I canceled. They will not return my voicemails and there is no option to speak to a live person so I am just stuck, unable to get my prescription even though it was transferred to a new pharmacy because these shitheads charged my insurance falsely. read more

You may be reading these reviews and thinking "surely this CVS location cannot be as bad as all these whiners say it is." Unfortunately it IS that bad. I've been trying all week to pick up a prescription for my child. It turned out that my insurance information is out of date, so I called to give them my insurance info. The pharmacy put me "on hold" for 15 minutes, which amounted to the pharmacist setting the phone down while she yelled at another pharmacy tech, then picking up the phone again to tell me my insurance information was wrong and I had to bring in the card in person. So I did. They still can't enter my insurance information AND they refused to let me pay out of pocket. "Come back after my lunch break and maybe I'll have had time to fix it." I called CVS corporate to see if they could enter my insurance information from their end; it turns out they can't do that for pharmacies in DC. They said they'd pass my feedback about this terrible CVS on to the "leadership team." Sure they will. I am just so exasperated with this awful CVS location. Every time I have to interact with them it ruins my day. I am ready to move my prescriptions to someplace else even though this place is two blocks away from my house. read more

I am pregnant. I made an appointment online 3 weeks ago to get the RSV vaccine, which is recommended for pregnant women for about a four week window. I showed up 10 minutes before my appointment time and was told to wait 30 minutes. So I waited. It turns out that not only does the pharmacy not have the vaccine, they will not order it and no CVS in DC apparently has it in stock, despite the fact that the CVS website lets you make appointments at several locations. So I have a very limited time to figure out how to protect my baby and CVS couldn't even give me the courtesy of telling me some time in the last 3 weeks that they don't have the shot. Now I'm scrambling, calling other pharmacies... I am almost 8 months pregnant and absolutely do not need this stress. No wonder they're going out of business. read more

CVS headquarters should look into renovating this CVS location. What a dump! This location is great for the community but it is sad how run down the store looks. Worst pharmacy. Unfortunately, I have to call them monthly for a refill.... EVERY SINGLE TIME I have waited at least 50 minutes for them to answer. Today reached a new limit... AN HOUR AND 20 MINS.. so, I drove to the store and went up to the counter, while still on hold with them. I could hear the announcement saying "1 pharmacy call waiting".. they weren't busy at all. So, I said to the tech, "that 1 pharmacy call waiting is me and I have been on hold for an hour and 20 mins". She pretended to be shocked as if she didn't hear the 1 call waiting announcement for the past hour and 20 mins.... So they refilled my prescription but they filled the WRONG ONE!!! Believe us when we say they don't answer the phones. I called CVS Customer Relations and said she was forwarding this information to the store manager. So, I don't expect any changes at all. This is my neighborhood pharmacy. It saddens me that the pharmacy itself is chronically short-staffed and has trouble filling refills for ordinary maintenance medication. I'm writing this review because I'm experiencing issues refilling a prescription for the second month in a row. It's now Thursday. I ordered a refill Sunday this week, five days ago. Monday afternoon, I received a text message that the medication was on order. I went into the pharmacy on Wednesday, after running out of medication, to be told that it was still on hold and that I needed to talk to the pharmacist. The good pharmacist told me that the medication was still on order but that he would transfer it to a different CVS location. According to the online patient portal, the order was canceled. I now have a choice to pick it up across town or wait until Friday morning. It's unclear if this is due to a medication shortage or for some other reason. read more

I wish 0 stars was an option. This location is terrible. The last time I called I was on hold for over an hour before I gave up. I went in and complained and the pharmacist just shrugged. The time before that I was on hold for 45 minutes when I got disconnected. Recently when I tried to fill an Rx nothing happened, and when I showed up they said it's out of stock and I needed to go somewhere else. Then another employee located it in stock. I called around 5pm and they said my medicine would be ready in about a hour. So I went to pickup after 7pm and of course the medicine is not ready. Now they told me they are closing at 8pm. The staff and the security people there are nice, but the pharmacy is just terrible. Awful. They steal your time for nothing. I requested filling one prescription four days before and waited for 30 minutes in a line just to be told it's not filled yet so come back in 30 minutes. It was impossible for me to do that with my two toddlers already waited for 30 minutes and getting fussy and sassy, and my newborn I left home with my husband was also getting sad, my husband texted. This is the worst pharmacy in the world. I get an Rx submitted by my doctor that some how won't get filled unless I go up there to talk to the consultation desk, then have to go again to get the Rx. This happens every single month for as long as I can remember and no one ever has an answer for why or does anything to fix it, If they would literally ever answer the phone this wouldn't be necessary. I'll even get texts saying it's ready, only to have to go through this racket. There are also just crates of medicine lining the pharmacy. I don't usually leave bad reviews but this is Hands down the worst cvs pharmacy that exists. They will not answer the phone under any circumstance nor call you to let you know about issues. So then you show up to get the prescription and have to come back or wait. I've watched them do this to multiple people while I'm sitting here waiting. I came in here tonight because I had received a very special coupon in my email with significant savings for my favorite ice cream. When I pulled up in front of the store, one if the first things that I noticed was the architecture of the building. Parking along the street and close to the store wasn't an issue at all for me. When I walked inside, everything appeared to be clean and in it's place. I did notice however, that they limmited supplies of all types of ice cream products. I wasn't sure if there was an issue with this brand in particulars because I have purchased the very same ice cream at some if their other locations, and they always had what I was looking for. Yes. This CVS is bad. Its prices are jacked way up high in the sky. And in spite of recent repairs to the refrigerator section, that area of the store still smells like spoiled milk and old funky socks. P-U! This freezing Monday evening, it did have what I was looking for, I found it quite easily, and there was no line so I am not that upset. I can't say this is my favorite drugstore, but it'll do in a pinch. Like when I'm walking down the street, there's 19 inches of snow on the ground, and I need some toothpaste and a cuticle nipper. Me: k thanks. *i go to CVS 6 days before* Me: Hi, can I put in a prescription and pick it up a day early? II have my doctor's permission. Pharmacist: No, you cannot. The system won't even let me do this. You have to show up on that exact day. (Unheard of but whatever) *I return to CVS 3 days later after adjusting the prescription with my doctor* Me: So, I'm travelling in a couple of days, can I check to make sure you have my meds in stock (this location is notorious for "running out of meds"). I kid you not, the pharmacist actually said these words. "I can't promise you that we will. We got it now but you can come in first thing in the morning, if we don't have it, we don't have it." Never mind that I just showed them I had a prescription. Never mind that I told them exactly when I intend to arrive. They just won't set meds aside and order more. Forget my health, I guess! Oh! I guess my wife and I should have heeded the warnings of other yelpers and stayed away, but we recently moved to the area and just needed a prescription filled. 5 days later of bs (including claims of calling the doctor, running out, delays, etc) my wife just took it back and went to our old Rite Aid at 13th & U NW and had it filled in an hour. I go here all the time to pick up something when I'm missing it. Of course they don't have a lot if selections but they always have something. Pancakes mix, candy, soda, athletic wraps, cereal, soap, or milk - they always have what I need. I'm not sure what's going on with self checkouts half of the the time. For a long time they didn't give cash back and I'm not sure if it works now. As a warning there are a lot of homeless people in the area who will ask you for change, but I can't fault CVS for that because there is nothing they can do. read more

CVS in DC are generally pretty bad, but this one takes the cake. One redeeming factor is the Pharmacy Team Lead. He helped me out a ton when I had insurance mix ups by faxing prescriptions out. Other than that though they are pretty worthless. Oh and DO NOT use the online photo printing. Twice that exercise has ended in me bluetooth connecting to their kodak station to print. They have no clue how the process works with the picture machine. read more

This is, simply put, the absolute worst CVS I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. Their shelves are often incredibly messy and disorganized, or worse, barren in places. My number one complaint though, which I realize may be specific for me, is that their ice cream is almost always melted. Probably 70% of the time. This place is the closest convenient store to me that sells Ben and Jerry's, and I've been burned a few too many times. I'm a simple guy, and I've got simple needs. I've got a weakness for tasty frozen treats. How hard is it to keep your freezer... freezing? It's been a problem for well over a year :( I've lived here for nearly 2 years, and finally enough is enough. I've got a girlfriend with a Costco membership, we've got Newton Food Mart (holla), and we have Yes (meh). But fuck this CVS in particular. read more

They never restock. If they do it's the recent toiletries that are on sale or the food. If you are coming for anything else you'll be lucky if you find it. There are always bins in the aisle for the past month. Lord knows if you went to dig in them for the things that should be on the shelf there would be a problem. Security stands at the door. Never leaving the front door to secure the rest of the store. No customer service what so ever. No one ever asks what do you need. Staff is forever changing except the Pharmacy. The pharmacy is about the only decent thing left in tack. Either take a break and get it together or close permanently. read more

On a Sunday pm, when I had to rush to submit & collect a prescription before leaving town, I found the staff, particularly the pharmacist, attentive, accommodating and professional throughout. After a reasonable wait (there were several customers), the 4 Rx's were correctly filled, my insurance co-pay appropriately noted, and a discount with my loyalty card. No complaints- thanks for taking care of things. Sorry about other people's experience. Nothing too exotic in my prescriptions and no wasted time. I don't get prescriptions or photos printed here which seems to be a big complaint area for this CVS. We usually get seasonal stuff (e.g., Easter eggs, Christmas cards, summer beach toys) here and candy and snacks and make-up and shampoo, such as when we forget to buy in the general shopping we do elsewhere. The staff here can be very nice, or nowhere to be seen, depends on who knows what, so we end up using the Self-Checkout often which works well. I seem to get a lot of catalina coupons at CVS none of which I end up using because the expiration date is too soon. Oh well! This CVS is on the 80 bus route though, so very handy! Also, there's street parking nearby both with meters and non-metered. This store is never crowded and if the panhandlers on the bench outside bother you, complain to the staff inside and they will call the special police. read more
