I'm ok with this walmart because they have a good selection. It's probably because it's a bigger Walmart store. At the small locations, they have limited items for sale which sucks because I go to Walmart for a variety of products only to find out they don't sell a certain item at small Walmarts. Here, they have a fabric section and a crafts section. Other than that, every Walmart is the same really. Cheap prices, more expensive items at the end of each aisle. Slow register lines. read more

I attempted to purchase a computer from this location but they were out of stock. I asked the associate in the electronics department if I could order it site to store and she rudely replied "how do I know?" I then attempted to order it and my debit card was denied several times, even though I had more than five times the amount in my account. My girlfriend used her card one time and the transaction went through with no issues. Bear in mind, we share the same account and our cards are the exact same numbers apart from the CVV and expiration date. That's where our nightmare began. The computer was supposed to be delivered 2 days later. However, Walmart somehow lost the package and it was never delivered. I called on the date it was promised, after the delivery company told me they had no record of receiving the package. I relayed this to Walmart "support" and was met with nothing but excuses. I was assured that I could have a replacement sent after waiting 48 hours from the date it was originally scheduled for delivery, if I hadn't received it by then. I called after 48 hours and asked for a replacement, as it still hadn't been delivered and got excuses again. I was told that they were now "totally out of stock" and there wasn't anything they could do to help. I asked for another item of equal quality, which they have plenty in stock and was denied. They began their refund process and now it'll take 7-10 business days to get my money back. All the while, I'm losing business and being made to look unreliable to my clients. My work station took a crap on me and I needed a quick replacement. Trusting Walmart was my first mistake. I will NEVER shop at this location or any other Walmart, Walmart.com or any company associated with them. I've literally never witnessed such incompetence and stupidity in my life. They couldn't even update the order tracking info correctly. Walmart is absolutely disgusting and disgraceful anymore. read more

Don't go here. No one greets you, customer service is unheard of and the lines are so long, it feels like black Friday even mid week any given time of year. Not a friendly Walmart at all. I used to work at a Walmart in high school in the Midwest and we were pretty excellent (well, as happy as u could get working for such a corporate bully). This review is for the Vision Center: I would suggest doing your own research to make sure your vision insurance is accepted before making an appointment here because the staff were less than helpful or knowledgeable in this area. I called to schedule an appointment and the staff member who answered the phone did not even ask about insurance so I offered this information up on my own. When she told me that the exam would be $58, I told her, "I have vision insurance with Humana," and she told me to just bring my insurance card. I arrived for my appointment and was given paperwork to fill out by another staff member, which included my insurance information. I gave my paperwork to the doctor, and he completed the exam. No one ever asked about insurance. When I went to pay, I asked the staff member if he needed my insurance card. He said, "Oh, do you want to apply your insurance to the exam?" Of course I do. Why else would I have vision insurance? It was only then that I was told that my employer didn't contract with Walmart's Vision Center. That would have been nice to know BEFORE the exam, Walmart. This was completely avoidable if the staff had done their jobs. They were very apologetic, but I was still stuck paying $58 for something I already paid for through my monthly vision insurance premium. read more

My adult daughter and I were accosted in the parking lot by a sketchy person begging for money and then again in the store by a different sketchy person begging for money (both men had the exact same pitch, and neither one seemed like they actually needed money) who then followed us until I stared daggers at them. I generally do not worry about my safety too much, but they both made me and my daughter quite nervous, especially having followed/approached us the way they did and sticking around to stare at us as we walked away. At checkout, I asked for a manager to explain the situation, and as I explained, she just stared at me, blinked a couple times and walked away without ever saying a word. This Walmart is cray-cray. My mistake for going on the 3rd of the month, a Friday at 10 pm. I must've been out of my @&$#! mind. There were a gang of kids taunting an old man, then they started having their own private party near a sound system that they turned up really loud. A guy started randomly talking to me about anything as I was looking for gorilla glue. Two checkout lines were open and they went well into the clothing section. I know no one with heed my horror stories and will go to this Walmart anyway out of convenience. It's a lower socioeconomic culture, so they clearly higher uneducated, drug laden people with dental & skin disorders who are really nice, just have no interest in the health of the business. Ie, 1 employee in electronics will leave the counter with 5 people in line for 10 minutes to help someone find batteries. So, when I go, I often call the manager to manage their employees to get more people where they should be (because I'm bored in line) & it is then I realize how truly grateful I am (that this is not my world). As for customer service, well it's Walmart so what would one expect? I think that for Walmart and for the area it's OK. I have not had any problems with associates. Speaking of the "area", that's why I am giving it only 2 stars. The areas surrounding this particular Walmart are really scary and sketchy. I don't think I have ever seen a normal looking person walking through the streets that surround this Walmart. Unfortunately that spills into the store in a major way. Be careful. The police are always outside. I was there yesterday and I was kind of creeped out because a uniformed Phoenix policeman was inside patrolling the registers. I wonder what kind of stuff happens there at night, I mean I don't even want to know. I frequent this Walmart a lot because I live in downtown and have no other choice. So far in the short time I have been going here (about 1 year) I have been hustled for money by homeless people and drug addicts, asked for the usage of my phone by weirdos, asked for rides, had a guy ask if he could clean my windows for money, and gotten mean mugged by really scary gang-looking Mexican guys. I can say this because I am Hispanic too so don't say I'm racist. I really don't want to be mean but here goes. If you are anything other than a weirdo, a drug addict, a ghetto-looking person (use your imagination to see what that encompasses) or an illegal immigrant looking to get picked up, then be careful. If you look like a decent person who has a job and nice car then you will be harassed at some point if you go to this Walmart frequently. So I would suggest park your car as closely to the entrance as possible, lock your doors and lock your valuables inside your trunk PRIOR to arriving, go inside and quickly do your thing, and come back out quickly. BTW Target is literally 4 blocks East and a MUCH better and MUCH safer and cleaner environment. read more

If you go here during peak hours, expect to spend a minimum of 30 minutes waiting in the check out line. The place can get a little grimy at night time when undesirables are the most active. I avoid this place if I can, but it's open 24 hours, wide aisles, and usually stocked well. The best time to get in heavy grocery, or other shopping would probably be early in the morning. read more

I cannot believe this national chain gets away with the deplorable conditions that are found in this store. Customers clearly don't care about how they treat the merchandise (and themselves) and employees couldn't give less than a shit, either. I came here last night and the number of people in there with unhappy, tired toddlers (it was 9:30 pm) astounded me. There was an unusually high number of the under-twenty-five-years-old-with-two-or-three-small-children types, too. Checking out was a joke, as we were in the shortest line but behind a family of three that each rang up their purchases as two separate transactions... PER PERSON. But the worst part was in the men's packaged undershirt section. There was an odor in that aisle that was just indescribable. D thought it was a hidden dirty diaper. While I am sure this is going to fall on deaf ears as all my other complaints will today's terrible experience was your shopping carts. I entered your store on the West side to shop. There were no baskets available for my small shop so I went for a shopping cart. 15 carts pulled apart later I was able to find one that worked. Broken, dented, wheels locked trash in them..... come on!!!!! During this whole time there is a greeter 10ft away from me who pretended like he didnt see a thing. I wont lie... I yelled at the poor guy. This situation is ridiculous, why are these broken carts being put in the bay for customers if they don't work or are cleaned out? Your greeter should be helping people with carts, not standing there doing nothing. So I shopped quickly and got in the checkout lane as quickly as possible at the worst Wal Mart in the world and the same guy came up to me to apologize and that he notified a manger. I have been going to this location for a decade. Yes, it is in a lower class area. No, that is not a problem. The inventory is amazingly diverse, and the quality is often excellent. It is crowded at certain times, but, as they are open 18 hours a day, you can plan around that problem. The WORST Walmart I have ever been to!! I've been to some pretty beat up ones on the southwest side of Chicago. Now I know they can't help the clientele (or stragglers) that come in or around there but customer service is terrible and in some cases no existent. I moved into a neighborhood a few miles away and needed a variety of things so figured I'd come here for one trip. I needed paint and there was no one around. I looked in housewares even and strolled the aisles back and forth. Finally I found a woman in makeup. She paged for someone. (I had a friend with me too that I had stay with the cart next to the paint aisle). Then 15 mins later I walked over to the lady to page again. Then I strolled and found a worker in the toys section with a key to the paint. That was really an hour ordeal. It a little understaffed. If you don't realize that when you're on the floor looking for stuff you'll realize it when you get to the checkout lines. The makeup section is a disaster. The people that go there steal and rip everything open and use it and put it back. It's really sad. So there's not a whole lot there. The checkout lines make you really depressed. They're so long. Everyone has one or two carts full, they price match, coupon, you name it. My last trip there, when it was finally my turn at the register I noticed a stack of all kinds of meats. Raw chicken drumsticks, pork chops, chicken breasts. It looked like it had been laying there for awhile bc I didn't see anyone in front of me disregard anything. There was such a variety too that it didn't seem to come from one single shopper. It looked like it accumulated. I was so grossed out that I realized never again will this place get my business. I'd come here for convenience but it's never been that. Someone needs to come into this place and take some pride and bring it in. Hire security for sure. Hire more workers. So, I go into this walmart (on Thomas) at 8:30 last night. I am always reluctant to use a cart or basket for fear of what I'll catch, so when I do, I always grab a few cleaning towels and wipe down the object of contagion. None there. The lady who was greeting people while sitting down, turned away as I was fumbling among the empty containers. I gave up: I was probably already infected. I shopped, gawked at the patrons, asked a couple of employees questions that they couldn't comprehend, and left about $20.00 lighter. As I was walking back to my car, I watched a woman who had changed her child's diaper in the back of her van, look both ways and toss it under her car. I drove to the IHOP a few blocks away and washed up, relieved to know that I might now survive waltonitis. I live just down the street and I hate going to this store because of the difficulties parking, lack of customer service, long lines, and general staff cluelessness. For example, after hunting down a staff member to help me find a pepper grinder, I was met with a bewildered look as f I were asking for some obscure piece of medical equipment. OK fine...I found it myself. After going into the express line, I was served by a staff member whos station was strewn with used tissues and he was hacking up God knows what. OK fine, I asked him to use hand sanitizer before checking me out. But then, he had to talk to himself through each individual purchase; and, what sould have taken 3 minutes tops took 10 minutes. This week I had to make a return to this store. What Lousy customer service. I had purchased a garden hose due to it popping a leak and luckily it was under warranty. WHen I took it to returns counter with my receipt the gal (Irene, I believe) looked at it and said that there no bar code as if it were my problem they had not put one on it. I handed her the receipt and she says for me to go get another one. I told her I did not wish to exchange it,, only to return it. She still insisted on the bar code. I told her to have someone go get one then. She says that she had nobody to get it and I would have to get it for myself. She could have easily walked over there much easier then myself and she was a young gal. I told her that I have a leg problem and it was clear on the other side of the store. She still would not go and get it. I ended up having to make that trek and getting for some lazy employee. This is not the way to treat your customers, expecially older disabled customers. read more

First off, I'm not a huge fan of Walmart to begin with. However, being the poor college student that I am, the prices and convenience that the store offers is pretty unbeatable. Having said that, I've been to plenty of different Walmarts across the valley. This one is by far the worst one I've ever been to. The place is a dump, the staff is awful and unprofessional, kids are always running around and screaming, other customers (probably the kids' parents) are completely rude and don't pay attention to anyone else nor know the phrase "excuse me" or "sorry", and a lot of the inventory is rarely restocked. (For example, ever since my boyfriend and I got a dog 4 months ago, if a store has a pet section, I always take a stroll through to check it out... That's a whole different problem haha. Anyways, in the past 4+ months, the dog aisle has always looked like a tornado blew through it and the leash/collar display and inventory has been pathetic. I honestly don't think it's been restocked once in the past few months.) As I mentioned, this walmart is hands down the worst one I've ever been to. I keep telling myself I won't go back there, but the location is way too convenient for me. Every time I go there though, it's an awful experience. I can honestly go on for hours about how awful it is. I don't even really like writing reviews, and I try my best not to complain. I work in a hospital, which entails good customer service. So, I often try to give workers the benefit of the doubt when I'm the customer (such as a worker having a bad day). I gave this place one star only because I had to. Otherwise, I would say it deserves NO stars. The only reasons why I'm writing this are to 1. Warn others about how disgusting this Walmart is and advise against going there if you have other choices, and 2. Maybe some type of managerial person and/or corporate employee will read this and investigate how terrible one of their establishments is. (And maybe some of #3. Went to this Walmart 40st and Thomas, I was treated like a thief for purchasing make-up. If Walmart think every customer is a thief they should move to a better area. The guy at the make-up counter was rude. Guy at counter told me no food products didn't have any had about 20 items deodorant and Ect.. and refused to ring up more then 10 items, and to do 2 orders. Ok seriously phoenix, you don't know a bad Wallie World until you've shopped the one in El Mirage...k? with that cleared. This place isn't bad at all. (I mean in all honesty the true danger is the parking lot!) Has the usual wear and tear of any 24 hour Wal-Mart. If you're a real shopper, you send the chump to wait in line while you grab your last minute items. I do most of my shopping here at about 12am, so I am unfamiliar with the day time rush, but as for the night shifters...not bad!
