We attempted to use the preorder and pick up only to be told four hours when we were scheduled to pick up our order that our order still haven't been picked. I like this store. It isn't the biggest or most full of cool stuff, but has most things you can use from groceries to make up to cards. Baskets up front, they provide hand wipes, the one thing I don't like about this store is there always seems to be someone asking for money out front. That bugs me. Jamal in online pickup is the best! We typically dread going into Walmarts because the parking lots are huuuuge and they're basically hard to get in and out of. So, we recently started shopping online and picking our packages up. Talk about ez-breezy. The online pickup is now inside the right front door next to customer service (don't stand in the customer service line!!). I just click the "I'm on my way" button on the ap, walk in and hit the online pickup button on the counter...then bam, Jamal comes walking out in seconds! He scans the purchase barcode on my phone. Hands me our items. He always politely asks, "please check your order before leaving". He'll even cut the box open for you. We're out the door in less than 5 mins...AWESOME! Ps: We agree with other reviews that this Walmart is smaller than most. No garden or auto too. read more

We just did a pick up of an on-line order, and it was so easy! What made it even more special was Jamal! His aptitude, professionalism and quickness was so beyond what we expected. I love Walmart, and this one seems newer and has grocery and Pharmacy departments. Their garden department is somewhat limited, but there's a Home Depot 2 blocks away. Manners are free yet so appreciated. Too bad Walmart staff haven't a clue. I was given long distance instructions, yelled at from opposite side of the store (to my back) and basically called a liar by the woman at the self-check-out. She did the same to a gentleman before me who experienced the same issue so, I didn't take it personally. I tried calling a manager to let them know they may have a problem with the self-scan terminals. I was told I may have to wait a couple of minutes. It's been 14 minutes now, that's about seven couples, wouldn't you say? At 15 minutes I was able to speak to a manager who did seem to hear me ThankQ on that note. Ext.Version: While scanning items I heard an elderly gentleman being reprimanded for not paying. He said he'd already given payment information. He had to start over. Then lo, it happened to me. After giving all the info pswd,etc I was about to pick up & when I noticed the card reader said my pymt was incomplete. It took more tries for it to go through. I wanted to let them know about this problem since I & another person had the same problem. The female employee wasn't going to hear my concern. She told me that what I had experienced didn't happen. Her jedi powers failed her. I know they happened. I pointed out to her that the gentleman before me had the same problem and she said no that didn't happen. Essentially she called us liars.Before this another Walmart employee gave me long drawn out albeit very specific directions for an item I was looking for. I found the area, not the item so I asked another employee. She said she was too busy and I'd have to wait a few minutes. My time is precious to me so I left to search for another item. When I reached the other side of the store I heard someone yelling towards me. You never yell at a person's back, it's just rude. I guess her mama didn't teach her. read more

Workers are generally very nice,but I wish Walmart took better care of their employees. I guess the workers are paid so little the few still staffed here need us all to all chip in for their health insurance and food stamps. This location is always out of stock on basics. They can't take a return even though they are open and can't train cashiers to do it. The check out by a real person is as long a wait as the dmv so I'm forced to deprive more people from a job by doing my own check out. read more

I was able to also get a snack and drink and make it to the self check outs. The store was super clean and easy to maneuver through. I had been going to the Walmart Pharmacy in Encinitas for over 1 year & had no problems until several weeks ago. Because I am now retired & on Medicare my plan insurance co does not always cover all my medications. I use coupons found on the internet for some of my meds. Due to this the Walmart Pharmacy does not always run my medications threw my insurance, so I always need to call them & remind them of this before I pick up my medication. On this particular day I called the Pharmacy & spoke with ARIFI & asked him if would see if my medication had been run through my insurance co & he grumbled under his breath swearing at me, calling me a horrible name. I was shocked & said "excuse me, what did you just say to me?" He said "what" over & over again, like he did not understand me. I asked to speak with his supervisor & he hung up on me. I called back & every time he put me on hold. I continued to call back & finally got Vincent Tran, the Pharmacist. I told him what happened & he replied that he was standing right next to ARIFI & he never heard him swear at me. Totally shocked by this treatment, I asked for the manager over him & he gave me the ph#800-925-6278. I filed my complaint & got a call back from MADIHA their manager. She told me I was a privileged WHITE WOMAN & that I should understand poor ARIFI had a bad 2 years with covid. I told her not to call me again after showing PREJUDICE TO ME & called Walmart's main office back & asked to speak with MADIHA'S BOSS. HIS NAME IS DARRYL MARCHETTA. THAT WAS 3 WEEKS AGO & I AM STILL WAITING FOR HIS CALL. I do not think I will be using the Walmart Pharmacy or store in Encinitas again. I am looking at other options for my medical drugs. Let me make this clear: I didn't expect to have a good experience at this Walmart, but I didn't expect my experience to be this foul. We arrived around 9:00 pm on a Sunday, when a crafting project went awry and we needed a piece of fabric. We should have waited til the morning and gone to trusty old Joanne's, but we thought we'd give old Wally World a try. We found the fabric without problem, but 30 minutes later, we still had not found a single employee who was qualified to cut said fabric. Now it wasn't that there wasn't anyone working there, for no fewer then 15 employees were restocking shelves within a 2 aisle radius. Finally a lady who had never cut fabric before was called over, and the manager told her to train a poor young boy on how to cut the fabric. As apparently the only person in the Supercenter who had cut fabric before, I got to train both the lady and the boy on the art of measuring yards and cutting in a straight line (it's not rocket science, people!) We then dashed to the checkout line, chopped fabric in tow, hoping to make a swift getaway, only to realize there was only 1 checker open (with 15 more employees tiddlywinking around in plain sight). We wanted to leave but the fabric was already cut so we had no choice but to stick it out. The couple in front of us had 2 full carts of food (mostly produce, ah!) to ring up, so poor Jenny (the solitary checker) did the best she could to get through the carts while a line of frustrated Walmart patrons trying to buy bud light and other items you can't pay for at self checkout cued up waiting to be disappointed by Walmart's utter lack of customer service. Jenny, I will point out that you deserve a raise. You got through that line as quickly as you could and you tolerated the other 80 imbeciles "working" on your shift well tonight. Jenny could have run that Walmart alone tonight. We left Walmart as they were closing up shop, which in my opinion they should do permanently. Walmart you have no place in Encinitas, and next time I'm going to Joanne's, where I hope to see Jenny gainfully employed and living her best life with higher wages and health benefits. read more

This is the best Walmart by far. Encinitas is very affluent and this store shows it. They even have a Zamboni machine, driving up and down the aisles there. Everything is so clean, reminds me of how a hospital is kept. On the outside too. Far as the merchandise goes, excellent, service too. This is a model for Walmart. read more

I was in there tonight. A security guard walked past me in an aisle and brushed against me. Then a clerk walked within 3 feet of me while talking to me. Then the cashier coughed, once and lightly, but she did not cover her mouth. This store needs some training for covid 19 protocol. One clerk was very helpful though. I was paying and realized that a product I was purchasing was setting on her counter by the register. I pointed to it and ask why it was there. She said it doesn't have a bar code for me to scan. She had no intention of telling me she took it out of my purchase items. I would have driven all the way home and not had that product. This is unacceptable. I went back to get another that had a bar code for her to scan. She rang it up separate since I already paid for everything else in my order. We brought it back to the Walmart supercenter to the returns department. They now told us that we had to call Walmart third-partyAnd box it up and have FedEx return it to the third-party vendor. We were in the store a couple of times and it was OK, so I'm averaging that with the ONE star rating I'm giving them for their grocery pickup. A couple of months ago we put in an online order. We normally get it from the Walmart off of the 78, but we tried this one because they had a couple of more organic items. BIG mistake. - The order wasn't ready in the window it was supposed to be (my wife found this out after waiting there about 45 minutes). - Hours later they said it was ready, so she went back. It was not ready. She waited there for an hour to keep from making another trip. The harried worker (who was moving really fast) apologized and said that, unfortunately, it happens all the time. - They got the order wrong (some items missing and a couple we didn't order). We just let it be (not wanting to call them) given how over-busy they were. Oh, and they were out of the organic berries which was the reason we ordered from there in the first place. read more

Beware of fraud with online orders and the handling of the orders by Walmart Encinitas employees. I ordered and paid for an item a week ago that was supposed to be picked up on 10/13/20 by 8 p.m. I showed up at 6 p.m. and my order was not in their system and nowhere to be found. Rich the assistant store manager treated me terribly; not to mention no apologies for the oversight. Ended up finding out a store employee had placed my order back in stock before leaving early and in error and I was told my order was cancelled by this employee. I now see I am not the only one that has had poor experiences at Wal-Mart. I just checked Trust Pilot reviews regarding Walmart and I can relate to the public disgust with this company. I'm going to write a letter to corporate regarding our experience with a female clerk that said she was a manager. It's not just the clerks that act unhappy and don't want to be bothered, it's the supervisors in the early evening shifts as well. I wonder if she would of behaved so rudely and unresponsive if her store manager was on site. Maybe the store manager doesn't care either and the employees know it. Beware of the "Fabric Natzi" My husband and I generally Love this Wal-Mart store, but on this day I was in search for fabric..we first encountered the fabric natzi when my husband pulled a roll of fabric out of a sale bin to show me. After not liking it he went to set it down when a tiny concerned man rushed over hotly removing the roll from my husbands hand, smacking it on the end before shoving it back in the bin and then asking me at the measuring table what I was doing? After answering his ? He hotly turned around scoffing to another aisle in the store-- I guess we had entered "his" area He helped me later to cut a piece and was satisfied..as soon as I got to the car and held the chosen piece up to the benches I was to cover I knew it was too busy and had buyers regret- we went to eat nearby and I was still sure that yes I needed to exchange for a solid instead of a pattern--Little did I know this was a Big Mistake that would shatter days. I went to the fabric area and quickly found the perfect solid close to the original one. Stood in line behind a lady(a regular) who was being helped by a sweet little Asian lady- fabric Natzi stood at her side with receipt tracker and looked up to give me stink eye. Put his machine down and scurried around me, coming back to flick the piece of fabric in my arm to ask if this was a return? Came back to the counter as I said yes and muttered under his breath it was hard to re-sell but this was a popular print. He then slammed his hand down on the counter hotly muttering something else and alarming the Asian lady next to him who looked scared. He told me I needed to go to customer service and I said I know and that I first needed to get my other fabric piece cut. He proceeded to get snappy with me and I apologized Sir for apparently ruining his whole day..he then looked up and said oh no it was his machine that was the problem not working. Meanwhile the regular was stationed now behind me done with her cut then proceeding to question my return and what I was making and how great the first pattern was..The poor Asian lady smiled sweetly and cut what I needed-- poor thing must be abused by this little man daily and would not even show her the respect to move out of her way with his machine to let her help a customer. Well at the customer service there was more drama about the return/exchange. When I said how ticked off the "Fabric Natzi" was she just agreed. I have never had such angst over an exchange and 3 yards costing me 9$ now became 20$ When I called later to file a complaint about this man feeling so bad for everyone walking into this area of the store there was no answer..so I'm satisfied leaving this review and my benches are turning out fantastic! read more

This is the cleanest, least crowded, and slightly smaller Wal-Mart in North County. It does not have a full garden center. It also doesn't have a vison center which would be nice but it makes up for it in cleanliness and friendliness. A bright spot in the store is the pick up today department where Becky, the department manager and Christian, a pick up today associate, are so nice and efficient. I recommend coming here from 6AM-9 AM and 6PM -10PM because you can actually go though the isles without bumping into 10 other people. Department managers Virgil, Ivan, Andy, Jose, Enrique, and Elsa are very polite and will tell you Hello and also ask you if everything is ok during your visit which I find very nice. All You can also find that the Store Manager Mary is a very attentive person and will truly listen to your comments or concerns and get them taken care of. This Wal-Mart is a model store for the ones in the area even though it does have some expansion to be done. read more
