Greets you when you walk in, let's you know where to find what you're looking for and then he's your cashier, giving you a play by play every step of the way with some good old fashioned humor. This review is for the CVS pharmacy in Target Encinitas. The customer facing staff would get 5 stars. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, although their filing system for prescriptions is a mess. Several times, they had to refill a prescription because they had filled it but could not find it. Last year they filled a prescription for my wife with the wrong dosage and all I got was "sorry, we don't know how that happened". Didn't even offer to replace it. I finally convinced my wife to transfer to the pharmacy I use. That has been a complete disaster. After two months, only some of the prescriptions have been transferred despite numerous requests. The pharmacist Melica has been dismissive and refuses to transfer all the prescriptions. She makes it clear that she is not interested in being helpful. read more

Malika yelled at me when I called to ask if my prescription was ready. She threatened to put a comment in my account about me being rude when she yelled. This review only reflects the customer service I received from a lady by the name of Malika. I am blown away at how unprofessional this woman was, not only did she get my prescription incorrect but when I calmly spoke to her and explained my frustration she continually cut me off and was extremely rude. I explained to her that I previously called the prior week and was waiting for this out of stock item so now I'm officially out of my medicine. I told her when I got the medicine home it was something totally different and not even the generic form of what I needed. She told me I should have opened the brown bag before I left the store and made sure it was correct (I've never had to do that). Now I'm out of my correct medicine and stuck paying for something I never ordered and she said I can't return. When I asked to please speak to a manager she claimed she was the manager and hung up on me! When I called back the next day, I spoke to a man by the name of Dominic who couldn't have been any nicer. He apologized profusely and apologized for the incorrect prescription. He told me that my normal prescription was out of stock and he had no idea why Malika didn't tell me that or why she filled something completely different without my consent. He was nice enough to tell me that another local CVS had what I needed. I went there and they had my prescription filled the same day. read more

I was just on the phone with a very, very rude pharmacist by the name of Sam. He continually interrupted me. He talked condescendingly to me, and never backed down when I told him how unprofessional and poorly trained he was. At another time, I received four pills for a thirty pill prescription. When I called the pharmacy, I was told there are cameras viewing the people who pack the pills and on review of my prescription fill, thirty were put in the bottle. The pharmacy actually lied as my bottle only had four pills in it. I will not do business with the pharmacy again. read more

I noticed most of the negative reviews are outdated by years and must be for the standalone CVS on El Camino Real near Ralphs in Encinitas which is open until midnight. They mention hours when this pharmacy isn't open. This pharmacy is open from 10-7 weekdays and 9-5 Saturday and 11-4 Sunday (closes for lunch 1:30-2 everyday). The pharmacy staff is professional, kind and do their best. If you're experiencing long wait times it's probably on weekends when they have shorter hours and less staff. I rarely have a wait from 11-4. They close from 1:30-2:00 for lunch. Stand out employees are Danielle, Cheryl and Teresa. Their new app addresses many of the issues mentioned and allows you to check inventory. read more

An unbelievably long line waited for one lone person behind the counter to fill prescriptions. Customers were becoming very impatient and ready to mutiny, shaking their heads and disbelief. Pity to the poor lady behind the counter who by default received the anger and frustration of the many in line. I asked the cashier near the front door "how many times on a daily basis do you get complaints about the pharmacy, 40, 50, or more?" She said, "yeah, about that. And corporate knows but they do nothing to improve it." I should have taken a photo of all those happy people waiting impatiently and posted it up here. I placed an order for a prescription to be filled 10 days ago and it still has not been filled. I was told by the pharmacy that they were out of the medication and that it would be approx. 3 days to fill. It is now 10 days and they don't know when the medication will come in. Unfortunately I can't simply go pick up my prescription request and take it somewhere else now. Why take an order when you don't have the medication and don't have a definite date when a new batch will come in. Frustrating. Find some other pharmacy. read more

They do not answer their phones, scrips are never filled on time, they send a text stating to call them regarding a scrip, and then don't answer the phone for 3 days! CVS has come to the rescue for me, they are A-OK. When your child is sick it is great to know that CVS is close and they stay open until midnight in a town that rolled up the streets at 10 pm. In the big scheme of things, CVS is broad and thin. Essentially they sell a whole lot of stuff, but limited varieties of each product. If you are not loyal to a brand you will not be frustrated with the selection. As a spoiled shopper I prefer variety, like when the shelves have a mind numbing variety of choices. But beggars can't be too picky! If our are in a pinch and need something then any brand will do the trick. I am only familiar with the health care products, cleaning products and beer and wine. The convenience of all of these products in one place, well CVS gets 3 stars for that. read more

My son developed a fever and headache last night and needed some antibiotics. It was called in at 7:30. I waited till 8:30 to head over there. When I arrived, the clerk couldn't find the prescription in the system. She asked me to check with the "drop off" window to see if they could find it. It's not like it's a whole different building or anything. Very strange. If I wasn't feeling stuffed up and tired myself, I really wouldn't have minded the wait. But not feeling well, it was kind of annoying... Anyway, so I walked down to the other side of the counter, waited behind another customer while the gal behind the counter was finishing off his order. It took a while, and I know they were busy in the back filling orders, but no one else was in the pharmacy. So I waited some more. Finally, someone called me up and asked for name and date of birth. I gave her the info for my son and she still couldn't find his meds. I said it was called in over an hour ago. She proceeded to pick up the phone and checked the messages. Sure enough, I noticed her writing down my son's information. I know they're busy, but you'd think they'd have a system in place that would get the messages off of voice mail in less than an hour. The only saving grace here was the pharmacist who helped me out. Anh is the pharmacy manager and after she finished writing down the message regarding my son's medicine, she pulled the medicine off the shelf and tagged it with my son's info instead of making me wait in the cue to be filled. Normally that would take up to 30 minutes or more if they're busy. That was greatly appreciated. She also was easily able to direct me to some over the counter meds that I was picking up to help alleviate other sick members of the family. Overall, a solid 3 stars, but could have been worse if Anh didn't help out and expedite the process. Keep on Yelp'n! read more

Long's don't fail me now. *cough* + *drives to Long's* So happy that I dropped "kick-ball change" dance move in the aisle much to the embarrassing surprise of the mostly nerdy Asian pharmaceutical staff and obligatory white and black guys. Long's, I find you equally competitive and comparable to CVS. In fact, I like you in a lot of ways better than CVS because you're a bigger store and your seasonal items of random value. Why don't I ever think about buying a camera from you? Apparently, holding cameras in stock is still significant to your retails sales. Who would've thunk? I think you do it to piss off Ritz Camera, but I think they do passport photos. Oh the possibilities if you did! I'd pose with your patio furniture. Yeah, it's a dead heat. I'd have to dock you 1 star because you're not near me at all, and you're not exactly convenient to drive to either, yet your close enough. But thank you for the Zicam. read more

So it's May 20, 2020 and now CVS is increasing prices over 10% on their products and other the counter products and or drugs. This isn't a grocery store nor do they sell beef or pork. I really want to give a shout-out tonight to the M.O.D Zach. I purchased a cosmetic product of which I was supposed to get back $10 EB. Of course, I didn't notice I didn't have the EB until I got all the way home. I immediately drove back to the store and spoke with Zach about it. He didn't even question me or anything; he just scanned my receipt and manually printed my EB for me. I am an avid couponer and I plan my trips weekly to get the best bang for my buck. I've paid almost nothing for detergent, makeup, etc. These guys are seriously amazing and their customer service is what keeps me coming back. I got both of my covid vaccines here and the process was super smooth once I finally was able to make an appointment online. The whole process was really organized, I barely had to wait! They had a table of friendly people outside with a clearly labeled sign for vaccinations, then they told you which aisle to go where everyone was friendly in the process (pharmacists, people taking your temp, etc.). The person who vaccinated my arm was really helpful and friendly. After the vaccination, they have a waiting area and the woman who was running the waiting area was super helpful and nice. She told us to take photos of our cards and was giving advice on what to do with the vaccination cards. Getting the covid vaccine is a super exciting experience and CVS made this even more exciting and positive with how quick, well-organized, and friendly everyone was. I have friends who got vaccines at other pharmacies and it was not as smooth. read more

CVS boasts an excellent and affordable pharmacy where locals can pick up prescription medication. The pharmacists are friendly and very helpful, despite the billing issues and insurance quandaries that come with obtaining prescription medication. My pharmacy was in Stater Brothers until they closed-(without notice). I NEVER had a problem there in five years. I was told my prescriptions were transferred to the CVS inside Target. Almost every time I have a prescription filled, there is a problem. It's been six months or more since I have used this CVS and I have NEVER been so frustrated with them. Problems such as, prescription not ready, back ordered, prescription not filled at all. When I have to call them, I'm am on hold for an unreasonable amount of time. One time I was called and told to pickup a prescription. It was not ready. I was told come back in 10 minutes. I came back in 15 minutes-still not ready. I picked it up the next day. They do not have "convenient" hours and the fact that they are located inside Target adds to the frustration. Always busy, crowded and parking is difficult on most days. Forget any holiday. I just filled the last script at this location-I give up. read more

Update: 2015. Well the remodel really helped both space nd temperament for all concerned. The pharmacy works much better, it's cleaner, and everything just chilled out remarkably. this is become a very pleasant place to get your prescription. I don't come here often, maybe only a few times on my way home from work, never really thought about the staff or the product, until tonight. I was immediately greeted, by not one but two employees, one being an older gentlemen with a cute Brooklyn accent and a sweet sense of humour as well as a young lady who asked if there was anything she could help me find. I was in the store for an embarrassingly long amount of time, and spent way more than I was suppose to, but throughout my time there I was asked repeatedly if I needed help, or how my night was going. I also found a really well put together beauty and personal care department with K-Beauty product and items you typically find at Target and some department stores. Anyways, I was impressed, I have a bit of a drive home, so my last stops are usually annoying before I jump on the freeway and into traffic, but I enjoyed this stop and will definitely come back here before I stop at Target, less crowded, friendlier staff and enough product that I like that I know I can pop in quickly grab what I need and be on my way all the while feeling like I'm not annoying employees by being there. read more

Before it was CVS it was LONGS. Although the CVS style remodel had enhanced the appearance dramatically, they still have the same old issues at the pharmacy. LONG WAITS. From my numerous visits I have determined that no one wants to go to the pick up counter and help people get their medication. They all seem to have much more important things to do besides helping out at the pick up counter. I worked there when it was called Longs Drugs. At that time the pharmacists were very firm about making the pick up counter a priority. Now days the pharmacists are younger and lack the ability to effectively manage the crew. New pharmacies have come into the area, RITE AIDE, WALGREENS, TARGET, and WALMART. The prescription volume has gone down sense the days of Longs Drugs, but CVS still has the longest wait. read more

I have to say the automated phone system is pretty good. I got a text that I had a refill ready and wanted to request a refill on a second Rx so I could pick them both up in one trip. I called and got info on the copay for the one that was ready, then requested a refill on the other one. The "phone robot" asked what date and time I would like to pick it up. I said today's date @ 1PM: 2.5 hours from the time I called. It said "ok, your prescription will be ready for pickup on thurs, may 21 at 1PM. When I've been transferred to the pharmacist for questions about substitutions, copays, etc, they pick up promptly and they have been helpful. When your insurance doesn't cover something, always ask for a discount coupon when picking up. They've gotten creative and saved us some money that way. You do have to ask though. In the past I've had several complaints and was considering switching, but lately they've stepped up their game. I will continue to use this pharmacy. read more

Every time I go into the CVS to pick a prescription that's filled, I get to the counter to find out it's not filled. Every time! I quit.. moving on to a new one. This pharmacy is too chaotic for me. The CVS has good parking and is easy to get in and out of the parking lot. I really don't shop here very often because it smells so toxic in the store. It's horrible. I don't use the pharmacy but occasionally buy a few household items. If it didn't smell so toxic, I might go in there more often. read more

Alright so I usually really like CVS, but this particular location (the pharmacy) is terrible. It never fails whenever I go there to pick up a prescription it is never ready and I end up waiting so long. Even if I come back long after the time they told me, I wait in a long line. It seems like they don't ever have enough pharmacists on staff, and they seem miserable to be there. I have talked to manager's about how great other CVS pharmacies are, and still there is never a positive change at this location. I recommend going to another location if you must use CVS. The one off Encinitas Blvd. is great by the way. read more

Theres one lady in there, I always seem to get her and she has a way of taking a chunk of my happiness away. Just always seems like her life is awful and its ruining her day to help you get your prescription. Ive had lots of problems with this place, primarily with her seeming like she doesnt care to help you out much, but wallgreens nearby is just too hard to get out of the parking lot. But they do get the job done albeit with major errors usually. read more
