Aaaghhh this is the worst pharmacy ever....I have pulled my prescriptions and will be transferring them elsewhere. They promise your meds but they are never ready on time. I just brought them a new script and they filled it with an incorrect MD name, when I asked them to correct it they huffed and then when they had the correct MD the price went up by $30 because they did not have his DEA number on file....well hello shouldn't you call the MD and verify the DEA number with the office? Besides how frustrating they are, I really don't trust them. If they can't even read a name off a script what else are they bypassing? Everyone in there seems to fly by the seat of their pants, they all act like it's an after school job at a coffee shop. No thank you...Walmart just opened down the street....lets try those prices. read more

Review for pharmacy only, not the store. The worst of all the pharmacies in terms of service. I had a prescription called in from my daughter's pediatrician. Almost an hour after it was called in, I was told it was still processing and it would take another 15-20 minutes. At the moment I'm typing this, I'm sitting here waiting-still. I usually go to the cvs on Encinitas blvd. Much better customer service but they didn't have the prescription I needed so I'm stuck here. I would give less but they won't let me. HORRIBLE customer service! They say will call back and they NEVER DO! I was told a med was going to be approved by my ins to pick up Sunday. Well it is Sunday and I called to have it filled and they tell me that my ins won't cover it till the 16th! I told them the whole story from Friday again and they said the would call me back. Never got a call. So I came in, got tons of attitude from the manager aka pharmacist. And she proceeds to tell me that it was filled and they just haven't called me and she told me to get in line. Best CVS de todo el mundo!!! Dayse, Candace, Tanner and the gang are great! They greet ya when ya walk in and are always ready to help. My favorite place to go for random crap in the wee hours. Sometimes I go twice in a night and it's pretty gnarly how different the store can look within a matter of a couple hours. These kids obviously work hard. This is the worst, most unhelpful pharmacy ever. Though I've gotten several scripts filled here for YEARS, they didn't save my insurance info, and the woman at the counter (blonde, mid-50s, name begins with an M or an N) actually blamed ME telling me "well, it clearly changed and you didn't update us." This place is a disaster. They take FOREVER to do anything I have literally waited two hours from start to finish for something that takes 20 minutes MAX at any other pharmacy. Nearly everything you need to survive is located in this store. I go here monthly for essentials, since it's closer to me than Target. This store (CVS) has better deals on makeup products, hard liquor, and seasonal items compared to Rite Aid and Walgreens. Also, this CVS is popular, so prepare to wait in line to checkout. read more

I frequent the Encinitas (El Camino Real) CVS because it's convenient to other places I shop in the same center. But going forward I'll go to the CVS in Carlsbad on Rancho Santa Fe where they have good customer service. For the second time in less than a month I tried to use my CVS coupon on what was shown as a full price item. The cashier said (same as last time), it's buy one get one free so you can't use your coupon on this sale item. I told the cashier that there's no discount posted. His "short" and cold response was "it's going up today!" ... I was shopping at 3 p.m. in the store when this occurred. Fairly late in the afternoon to say the least. The usual two cashiers that I find in this store when I'm shopping are an unfriendly young man and fairly sour middle aged woman. CVS needs to train these two employees a lot better and explain what customer service is about... or send them to the CVS on Rancho Santa Fe to learn from others! read more

It's got a lot crammed into it, the help isn't the best or the most knowledgeable and you feel kind of dirty after shopping there. Wow. Rough reviews for the ol' CVS pharmacy. I have been filling my scripts at CVS for about 5 years. Previously Albertsons La Costa (which has a nice crew of staff too). I have certainly hit a few big lines at CVS at the peak pick-up hours ala 4:30-6:30pm or when a local retirement center shuttle arrives (btw, if you see their van out front, just come back another time!) However, I honestly like the people who work at CVS pharmacy. It's definitely a busy place and I presume they would be happier with another Pharmacist to fill scripts, but they have always been helpful and kind. They remember my name (albeit a unique name), they call if there's a problem, they contact my Dr for me, they have even given me loaner pills when my Dr is tardy refilling a long-term prescription. You get what you give~ a smile, a smile. Try it. When they are crazy busy, I try to come back or hit Gordy's Bakery, Best Nails, or Smart & Final. Sushi Bros is super good too. read more

This is a weekly stop for me. They always have the products I use in stock it makes it very convenient to swing in on my way to work. I've only shopped at CVS a few times, but the pharmacy at this particular store is the worst I've seen in my life. Almost third-world. Unhelpful staff who seem like they don't enjoy working there. Dirty. A bug ran across the counter and they just laughed. Gross. Pharmacist took sweet time and was very indifferent to us. I called to talk with a manager and they didn't return call for several weeks and needed constant reminding. Their management is atrocious. I've advised our insurance firm of CVS' situation and we will never return to this pit. read more

CVS Encinitas (El Camino Real) is the worst pharmacy I've ever used. A couple of regulars there repeat your medications aloud for other patrons waiting in line to hear, right after you announce your name. When I pointed out how this was an invasion of privacy, I got a blank stare--and the practice continued. (I unwittingly learned a neighbor's medical condition this way!). But worst of all, last time I went there to pick up a med they'd filled for the past 7 years they said my insurance rejected it and I'd have to switch to a different class of drugs! The girl was so rude and patronizing I left, called my insurance, and was told that CVS had been in error, they only needed to call in a Dr. authorization. So I transferred to Rancho Park Pharmacy down the street, and what a difference! They are friendly, discreet, helpful and I never have to wait. They call me by my first name, never "announce" my meds, and once called me in advance when they were going to be closed for a holiday. It's a pleasure to go there and never crowded. If you want old fashioned friendly, caring service in a quaint historic little gift shop (it even has a post office inside) try Rancho Park Pharmacy. The transfer took one minute on the phone, and they did it all for me. I can't believe I put up with CVS all those years! read more

They tend to mess up prescriptions here. Also, my wife said that they have long wait periods. However, they are open 24 hrs compared to savon or other places. 24hrs carries a lot of weight. There has been so many times I've picked up a prescription late at night and also some groceries. How cool is that. I will take a few messed up prescriptions for that! read more

Not to be a complainer, because I really hate complainers, but this is ridiculous. Every single time I bring in a coupon there's always a reason why they initially cannot honor it. Without fail I am consistently informed that the CVS 20% off doesn't apply to this or that. There's never a time that I can check out easily with my CVS coupons. Last time I was informed that legally the 20% off coupon did not permit an offer to extend to this or that. Well, my attorney husband reviewed the coupon before I came in, so I was quite clear as to what I was legally entitled to. The bottom line is, management at this store must not value customer loyalty or good customer service for these challenges to continue to occur. I'll look into switching my prescriptions even though the pharmacy staff is great and am officially done with this location as of today. read more

This pharmacy is a JOKE!! They have actually MISCOUNTED my daily medication TWICE now, never in all my life has that happened to me anywhere and twice in a year here!! I quit going there, gave them another chance today because I needed my medication right away and I TRANSFERRED it from Walgreens since CVS was open later....TOLD the guy on the phone I needed medication tonight and they needed to call Walgreens within the hour before they closed and assured me he would within 15 minutes....DROVE FROM ANOTHER CITY to get there before close and they tell me sorry they "never got around to it"!!!! Then suggested I "just drive to a 24 hour Walgreens for it"....which is 45 MINUTES AWAY!!! These guys are unbelievable, completely unprofessional and I will NEVER BE BACK!!! read more

This is the first I have ever planned on switching my prescriptions out of CVS. I'm sure they're busy but I have ever experienced such rudeness and disinterest from pharmacists. Never, ever use the photo department to have your passport pictures taken! After 6 weeks of waiting for my daughter's passport I received a letter from the US Passport agency saying that the photo could not be accepted! I was going to initially take the photo myself but decided to be on the "safe" side and have a photo center do it instead. I will never come back to CVS because of this huge error on their part. For the photo, pharmacy, or any other reason. Totally unacceptable. read more

Twice in 6 months - they gave my family (myself and then my wife) the WRONG prescription ie not what the doctor had actually ordered - a potentially lethal error. As I know medicines I read labels - but a basic mistake as bad as this twice in less than 6 months is NOT acceptable - I plan to reach out to CVS higher ups - someone has to take responsibility. read more

I was previously a very loyal customer. I recently purchased more than I really needed because I had a 25% coupon based upon my shopping history. I'm so disappointed with CVS, Encinitas since their remodel. The checker was downright rude and insisted that the maximum coupon value was $10 although I had over $200 in merchandise. The wait was so long, I just took my items and left. I wish I had not purchased half of them. I may never go back. read more

They are chronically understaffed and often disorganized. There is often a long wait to pick up medicines at the pharmacy or to pay at the checkout counters. Almost every time I go to pick up medications for a relative there is a mix-up with the insurance, they can't find the prescriptions, or they're not ready when they are supposed to be ready. The only thing that works relatively smoothly there is the automated RX renewal system, undoubtedly because it bypasses the humans for at least part of the process. The only reason I'm not giving them one star is that some of the people who work at the pharmacy are nice and somewhat helpful. Too bad the company is too cheap to hire enough employees and to train and/or pay them well enough to make the place work efficiently. read more

I am pleased with this CVS Pharmacy. You usually have to wait in line but their service is courteous. Today they researched my prescription to see if I could save money using a different service (ie. AAA, AARP, etc). Although my insurance was the best bet, I was pleasantly pleased that they took the time to assist me. That is great customer service in my book! read more

Went to this CVS about 10:15 last night, directly from Palomar Hospital because the pharmacy here is open until midnight. Had 3 prescriptions to fill, 2 for antibiotics, 1 for Percoset for severe pain from a large abscess that had been lanced, drained, and packed. Pharmacist, after wasting over 20 minutes, declined to fill the script for Percoset because she said that the prescription, written that evening, "didn't have the little boxes filled." There were no boxes. Went on to say that the Rx was incomplete. Said she was "not allowed" to call a doctor for clarification. In essence, the message was that even though it was obvious that patient has been discharged to go home in pain, late in the evening, with a valid prescription in hand to allow the patient to get through the night in lessened pain, she did not choose to fill the one most needed Rx. For contrived reasons made up out of her head. What a cruel thing to do to someone! She may have been irritated that I am a Kaiser patient and knew that normally I would not come to CVS. But the hour required it. I hope SHE had a restful night. I DID NOT! Nor will I ever shop at this CVS again. Frankly, after this arbitrary experience caused by her, I've become dubious about the company's business practices overall. read more
