I had a very disappointing experience at this CVS Pharmacy location due to the pharmacist, Michelle T (like "Tango," as she identified herself). Her demeanor was blunt and unnecessarily rude, which made the interaction uncomfortable from the start. I came in requesting a simple flu shot. She refused, stating that there was a line. At the time, two people were being helped and only one person was waiting. When I asked for clarification, she stated word for word that she was "very overwhelmed with work right now" and that because there was a line and she was overwhelmed, she could refuse to provide the service. While I understand that pharmacies can get busy and staff can feel stretched thin, the way this was communicated -- and the outright refusal despite minimal wait -- felt dismissive and unprofessional. A flu shot is a standard service that CVS promotes as readily available, and I expected a more customer-focused response. If you're looking for better service, I recommend visiting the CVS on El Camino. They are open later, tend to be less busy, and provide a much more positive pharmacy experience. read more

I had such a positive experience at CVS in Encinitas today. I was fortunate enough to find Kristen Smith working in one of the isles. I was struggling to find three different not so familiar products for an older client of mine and she went over and above to help me find them. She helped me to the right aisle and for one obscure product she used the CVS app to find where it was located and made sure I found it. I was so grateful for her help saving me so much time of wandering the aisles. I would have been there a long time without her help! Afterwards, I learned she didn't even work in pharmacy, but the beauty section, and yet she went out of her way to help me. She was very pleasant as well. Do not use this pharmacy. There is no way now to reach a pharmacist by phone--all you can get is an AI robot. The staff is large--I counted 6 persons behind the counter and I was the only customer. It still took me a long time to get a small prescription because the person at the front couldn't find her prescription and then when another pharmacist found it, you have to go through 10 steps to get your credit card in. No other pharmacy in the area to my knowledge makes it impossible to contact a pharmacist by phone! Ridiculous. This chain does not deserve to be in business. Go to Costco or even Walgreens (where wait times in line can be long) but this one is worse. read more

They are awful!!!! When you call on the phone you cannot speak to a person, you have to leave a message and wait for them to call you back. They told me a prescription that was out of stock would be available for pickup a certain day, my husband confirmed it when he was there the day before, and then when I went to pick it up on that day they didn't have it. They have a lot of people working there, and they all look super busy, but often the line is very long and slow moving. When I transferred a prescription away from them, they told the other pharmacy I was out of refills when I wasn't - I had to end up asking my doctor to resend the prescription to the new pharmacy. I received a text notification my prescription was ready, went in a couple days later to get it and they had already reshelved it. read more

This is the 3rd time my prescription went on back order with no call/text/email. I have their app (which is useless), so I have to call them, they say it's on backorder but don't know when it will be available (no clue at all) then tell me they have been out of stock for 2 weeks!!! This is a med I have to take daily and they never tell me with a courtesy of a text, call or email that they have no stock, not idea when they will get stock and have been out of stock for 2 weeks and "Ma'am...this is a very common drug"!!! Seriously?? Back to North Coast Medical Pharmacy, their hours are horrible but at least you get great customer service & a pharmacist that speaks to you and knows your situation. read more

This review is for the staffers who helped me find the items I needed. I had left my list at home and needed items that I had never used or heard of before. Bree helped by looking it up as my daughter was on the phone with me telling me how to spell the product names. She was very helpful and patient with me! Very much appreciated! In the end I found everything that I needed. I did the self check out and I accidentally scanned my CVS care account bar code twice but the machine said something like "can't purchase that here" ... Something silly like that. The other staffer came quickly to my aid but it was fine because it was just a result of me being scan happy. *never used the pharmacy department..so I cannot comment on an experience there. read more

Of all the CVS pharmacy locations, this one is the worst. They are regularly making mistakes with prescriptions and insurance benefits. It's very frustrating. The pharmacist Michelle could really benefit from some training in pleasant customer service. Time and time again, she's extremely rude and dismissive and unfriendly - I've seen how she treats other customers and have experienced it myself. That's just not necessary. Been coming here for years. Switched my insurance recently gave them my card. Paid 130 dollars for meds that should have been a 30 dollar copay and when I asked why they didn't answer and didn't know. Called my insurance and my insurance told me they are not contacted with CVS so CVS essentially repeatedly charged me cash price while acting like they accepted my insurance. Do not spend your time or money at this store! Spent over an hour just trying to get in touch with someone to check status of my prescription. After 3 attempts, the call was finally connected and the representative answered and hung up without saying anything. Called back again asking to speak with the store manager, Clarissa, to see if this is normal for this location. When I expressed my concern about not being able to get ahold of anyone and the trouble I was having getting hung up on by her staff, she did not apologize and instead rudely talked over me loudly before ending the call abruptly. I'm not going to waste a lot of time on this review. The only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 is because they were relatively quick in filling my order. But their customer service, specifically the Asian woman in the middle area, leaves a lot to be desired; she's rude and doesn't know as much as she thinks she does. Case in point: when I presented my insurance card to her to see if CVS accepted it, she stated that it was my dental card. That's odd, because the urgent care up the street had just taken the information from that card an hour before that. When I tried to talk to her further, she just ignored me. The other lady was friendly, and I had no problem with her. I can see why this location gets all the "glowing" reviews it does. Avoid this place if you can. Agree with all the other reviews that this CVS has the worst employees. The employees working in the pharmacy all seem to hate their job and are never pleasant. I have seen encounters with older clientele where the pharmacy staff have no patience. The one employee who did seem friendly didn't seem to last long there. Although the corporate website states that most locations will recycle old prescription pill bottles and empty ones, the gal told me this one doesn't and I suggested I throw the empty bottles in my home recycling bin. CVS needs to revamp this store and hire a whole new crew. On the positive note, the pharmacists usually can fill prescriptions fairly quickly. read more

I've absolutely had it with the pharmacy system at CVS and specifically this location. My husband had an incredibly rude pharmacy tech to give him two separate vaccines this week. The same incredibly rude tech did not offer to help me transfer my prescription and made me call the other location. I've spent 24 hours trying to get a human to talk to me and I've rudely been cut off put on hold, ignored, not called back. I needed to use the restroom urgently, usually at CVS' if the restrooms are closed they have it posted it at the door this one did not. Also what restroom is "closed" at 7:00 pm on a Saturday? Secondly, I'm always someone who will purchase something if needed too and I was after I used the restroom. When I asked for the key the white older lady with a black jacket and blonde hair at the front looked at the key, paused for about 10 seconds while analyzing me and said it's closed. I've been to many CVS', I even go to school next to one, needed emergency pads while out before, MY MOTHER has worked at CVS for over 10 years and I never had an experience like this before! She was rude didn't even say "Sorry the restroom is closed for service." Just analyzed me like a racist and said "No it's closed." in a rude tone posible. I never leave a place I used the restroom at without purchasing something. So CVS 455 Encinitas Blvd don't hire women or men who stereotype they will be your downfall! Wow. I've actually never encountered such rude pharmacy technicians. They were very harsh with the elderly gentlemen in front of me who was trying to pick up a very important med but it wasn't ready yet and they kept referring to him as "this guy ". When it was my turn I wasn't greeted with a hello, I was greeted with " do you need something too?" I was so in shock I said something to the beauty technician on my way out and she said it's been a real problem with customers and she gave me a complimentary gift bag. 1 star for pharmacy - not front of the store. I've really tried to like this place due to convenience, but it's just miserable. After 6 months of going to their pharmacy, the following reasons are why I'm leaving: 1. Staff often isn't friendly, there are a few nice pharmacists but rarely do I get serviced by them. 2. They will never reach out to a doctor on your behalf if something needs confirmed - no slip, no help mentality. 3. They were out of my medicine for 2 months and didn't refill prescription when it was back in stock, I had to continue calling. 4. Their call system needs improvement. Average hold time 15-20 mins. 2/5 times they hang up after pretending to not hear you. I really hope the pharmacy can improve their way of working. read more

I am seriously so done with CVS this time. I end up going to one here and there for convenience when I get a random prescription and I'm not even joking they are literally the worst. They do not ever have anything ready even when you physically drop it off and they ask you a time to have it ready by. Even though I don't want to wait in the pharmacy for 30 minutes, this isn't the worst thing. The automated phone system will call you literally every single day. I am not exaggerating, it called me daily. I had to block the number, and it calls on a different number ! They also automatically call your doctor for a refill even if it is a one time medication so you look like a spaz to your doctor trying to get refills you don't need. It is so obnoxious seriously. Then, I called to try and get OFF the automatic call list, the employee was polite and had a well versed response instructing me to dial a 1-800 number to to get off of it. Okay, so I call it, and follow the prompts to remove myself from call list, it wasn't hard. But then, after we get through it it tells me the system is down and cannot process my request, and to talk to representative. So now I am on HOLD for like 25 minutes while they play shitty music. I'm seriously so done with these people. I've written a review on another cvs the last time i was infuriated with them, and this time I am not going to forget this enraged feeling for any amount convenience. When I asked her why they couldn't give me my prescriptions without pharmacist there, she told me not to take it out on her, and that only some of the time will I have that problem-it will be random- made no sense at all and she gave me such an attitude. My husband and I had an appointment for our second Covid Moderna booster at this pharmacy on Sunday at 11 AM, but when we arrived, having driven up from Solana Beach, there was a sign on the outer door of CVS that the store was closed: no explanation, just "Sorry for the inconvenience." We had not gotten a text to cancel the appointment (though one did arrive at 8:00 that evening). We were going out of town at the end of the week and had wanted to get our boosters several days in advance in case the injections made us feel unwell at first. So I tried to make another appointment online ASAP. Dealing with the CVS website was not particularly easy -- but I ended up booking appointments for Monday evening in Solana Beach. But on Monday morning, I got a text from CVS saying that our appointments had been canceled, with no other explanation. We happened to be in Encinitas on Monday so we stopped by to ask the pharmacy staff if, because the store had been closed the morning before, they could give us the boosters then, even though they have a "no walk-in" policy. At first they said okay but when they started looking at the online appointment scheduling system, it apparently showed that we still had appointments later that day in Solana Beach, so they refused -- although I told them I had gotten a text that morning supposedly canceling the SB appointment. Then they told me that on Sunday I had come to the wrong store (that I had made the original appointment for Solana Beach rather than Encinitas) and therefore the whole situation was "kinda your fault." Their attitude from the beginning (I dealt with one woman and two men), was not friendly or helpful, and they became increasingly rude. This treatment -- not trying to help but instead insisting that it was all my fault -- made me increasingly upset, though I'm honestly not a demanding or difficult customer. One of them even told me to calm down (I admit that my frustration was putting an edge on my voice, but I was definitely not shouting). I said that I was positive that I had made the appointment in Encinitas rather than Solana Beach, so they asked if I had a confirmation. I found the email confirmation of the appointment on Sunday at 11 that specified the Encinitas location, and showed it to them. First they said, well, the system shows something different. But they had to acknowledge that this was an official CVS confirmation email. Okay, they said, you may have made your OWN appointment in Encinitas but you made your HUSBAND'S in Solana Beach. No, I said: I had made the two appointments together at the same time, using the "Group appointment" tab on the website. They clearly didn't believe me and kept insisting that I was wrong, that I was the one who had screwed up. By this point I was getting so distressed by this rude behavior and the obvious fact that they were not going to try to help -- especially given that I knew it was NOT my fault -- that we just left. (A little later I located the email confirmation of my husband's appointment in Encinitas on that Sunday at the same time as mine, just as I had told them.) On the way home, we stopped by the Solana Beach CVS to get clear about that cancellation text, where they were very helpful and sympathetic, and gave us the boosters right away, even though the presumably cancelled appointments had been for later that evening. They were everything that the staff at Encinitas had not been: competent, friendly, helpful. The rudeness and unprofessionalism of the pharmacy staff at Encinitas was really breathtaking: I don't think I've ever been treated so disrespectfully by an interaction with employees at a store. There was no expression of regret about the store having been unexpectedly closed on Sunday -- which I wasn't at all blaming them for -- and no attempt to be helpful or to acknowledge that their online appointment system clearly needed improvement. Certainly there was no apology for their behavior or even acknowledgment that their assumptions about my "errors" in making the appointments were completely wrong. I will go out of my way in the future to avoid this store! read more
