This location has the most unfriendly and unhelpful employees I have ever experienced. It's almost like they all are just having a bad day everyday, I don't understand? It sure ruins my day coming in here. I have given them so many chances as it is close and convenient to my house, but unfortunately I now prefer to drive farther to Oceanside or Vista for better customer service. Additionally, this store is noticeably much smaller, not as well stocked as others, and is often out of many items promoting a trip to another Walmart anyways. I use their curbside pickup, and it's been so helpful during this pandemic. I simply order via the app, log into my app to let it know I'm in transit, and it lets the Walmart employees know when I'm there. They then being out my groceries and put them in my trunk for me. It's all smooth and easy. -1 because they consistently put my groceries in a plethora of wasteful plastic bags despite me refusing them AND twice the employee helping me failed to properly wear their mask above their nostrils. Passport photos! Yes, they take them here at the Encinitas Walmart. With tax it's a little over $8 for two photos. I went on a Thursday morning. There was only one person working but he was super nice & patient. When I rolled up he was helping an older lady. When it was my turn, he snapped my photo. 10 minutes later, the photos were printed, cut and I was on my way. This has got to be the worst Wal Mart I have ever been to. The selection of items was very limited and the check out was a total nightmare. I saw a lot of employees doing nothing in the store wasting time. The lines were way too long and not enough checkers were working .The self check out line was very long. The checkers were super slow and didn't know how to pack the items. The manager should train her staff to do their job and not have them sitting around looking at their cells. I love the other Wal Marts I go to in Oceanside and Carlsbad but since I was in Encinitas , I thought I would just shop at the Wal Mart there. It took a very long time to get through the line and get out of there. I told the guy at the door as he was checking my receipt that the store was a problem. Did and online order for store pickup, waited over an hour, along with 7 other customer waiting for their orders. There is a number to call for pickups, called no one answers, called the store no one answers, if this is how store pickup orders are processed maybe they should not offer it as an option, this is just horrible! I just needed to grab some mason jars for Christmas gifts. I looked in line to see if any were in stock, it said there were only 7 so I drove down right away. I had to ask someone where they were and she happily showed me. There were only two left so I'm glad I went right away. Truly remarkable deals at Walmart! On this trip, I decided again to endure the suffering of using the self check out machines. This time I was on a machine that only accepted credit, when I had intended on paying with cash. After switching machines and finishing ringing up my items, the machine froze for what felt like an eternity. When the machine finally started processing the order, an error code came up. The gentleman working at self check out, Scotty, was very helpful and apologized numerous times for the inconvenience! He informed me that a recent software update had resulted in the machines not functioning as well. While this was initially frustrating, Scotty made up for it with his positive demeanor and helpful attitude! Plus, I saved a bunch of money by shopping at Walmart! read more

I just got burned AGAIN for ice. I know it's petty and I should just let it roll. BUT... the check out let's you choose ice and when you go to get it it's empty. I made that mistake. So today I looked and saw ice, added it and paid for it. Went over to grab it and it was only 20# bags for $4+. "OH we don't carry the small anymore " Then WHY is it on your computer checkout?! I'm from the East Chula Vista area, we have a Walmart on East H Street in the Rancho Del Rey area that looks very nice, darker lighting great for eyes, better mood with glossy granite looking floors. But This Walmart off of Lucadia look just like Kmart, BigLots and a 99cent store, old dirty ugly floors, this place needs a serious remodeling upgrade, This Walmart is in a posh area of Lucadia, south of Carlsbad, and I can't believe my eyes when I'm up in this area visiting, just an ugly looking Walmart, puts me in a foul mood when I shop there! read more

I was looking for a warmer shirt. They had an entire section of Fruit of the Loom long sleeve shirts in a 3XL as I'm 6'2" and 235 lbs so I need a real men's shirt options. All they could tell us is they have none and to call back everyday to see if some came in. Our Encinitas Walmart truly needs assistance and I do hope they read this review and truly take it to heart. I like Walmart! When I need a good bargain, convenient shopping, great hours of operation and familiarity- it's Walmart! Now, going into the Encinitas Walmart is ever so frustrating...why you ask? They are ALWAYS out of stock on MANY things. No kidding, I shop there at least twice a week because I don't buy certain things in bulk. We don't have a full house and I like fresh items in the house. I'll post pictures below showing the empty shelves on a typical day at this Walmart. There wasn't a holiday before or on any particular weekend, just a beautiful weekday in the neighborhood. The employees are friendly enough and a couple nice ladies always speak to me and we have a nice chat. The inventory manager or system is simply not keeping up with store/shopping demands. I see employees stocking but the shelving holes still exist. For example, my husband loves Lifeway Plain Kefir. No kidding he drink 8oz everyday. I went in today and there was only 3 on the shelf none in the back. I went in a few weeks ago none on the shelf and none in the back. Thank goodness I bought several before then. I wish I'd kept a log of the simple things always out of stock so I could share it but I would get so annoyed and angry that I'd simply leave. I love Nathan hotdogs and so happy Walmart now carries them- dog in bun ready to eat in their food warmer. Unfortunately, 9 times out of ten there isn't any mustard OR relish. I usually have to go back to the deli/bakery door/dept and ask. They give me mustard but still no relish. I don't get it ‍hotdogs have mustard & relish, right?!?! It amazes me that after you're told this week after week-nothing! ‍ Sometimes when I need several items I simply get into my car and take a ride up 5N, across 78W and go to the other Walmart off Jefferson. But why should I have to? I DO understand the Encinitas Walmart is not fully expanded like the Vista or larger Walmarts. I went there today. You could not tell which carts had been santized. There was no one cleaning carts and directing you to the clean ones. There were way too many customers. The aisles were crowded with employees trying to shelve merchandise making it hard to get by or find things. This type of thing should be done when the store is closed. Very hard to maintain distancing. There were two people in line with me without masks so I had to change my line. I spoke to the assistant manager on the way out and told her the employee sitting in front of the door should check people for masks before letting them It does not seem that this Walmart is serious about limiting the number of people in the store or insisting on masks to protect the workers and customers. I would like to first mention that I never write Yelp reviews, but after my experience with this gentleman I felt very compelled to share.... I work for Postmates and pick up multiple deliveries daily from Walmart's grocery service. A couple of months ago before the pandemic, the service at this Walmart was slow, especially during the afternoon hours, however Walmart stepped up and hired some exceptional individuals. Every employee that works at this grocery delivery service team has been extremely helpful. One in particular goes above and beyond to make sure the job gets done efficiently. Mitch is one of the most kind, selfless and dedicated employees I have met while working for Postmates. He always greets with a hello and communicates timing on deliveries if they are running behind. Just yesterday, while helping with a grocery order, Mitch was training a new employee and showing him the way. His influence as a leader and mentor is exactly what this world needs more of. Unacceptable!! I had to return some personal items ok! I had to wait til little friend got off. So obviously it was after they working man hours. So I get there and a sign was up saying they was closed for returns! I hunted down the first employees I could eye! Ion even care if they talk they little talk between themselves. I have to admit- I wasn't expecting a ton of customer service when I had a problem with a bike I'd bought for my son for Christmas through the online platform, but I figured it couldn't hurt to bring it in and see what my options might be to replace it. I really didn't want to have to get another one shipped, since the first one had taken me all day to put together. I knew that the problem could probably be solved relatively easily by someone who knew what they were doing, but that person was not me. Turns out, it was this store's Assistant Manager, Rich. He fixed the bike himself, borrowing some tools off the shelves, and had my son riding again right away. Now I know how to fix it too, so if it happens again, I can handle it. I like this location because it's on my way home from work. The store is small but I'm able to find everything I need. Cashiers are friendly. Only one particular person by the name of Meek.She is a manager of some sort that wears a yellow vest. Black woman. She's very rude and never smiles. Stares you down like your going to steal something. I hate when she's working. I get very bad vibes off her. She needs to go back to training & learn some customer service skills. Today was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at Walmart. We were racially profiled today... We were in the self checkout line with a whole cart full of groceries bagging all of our items. We had one bag checked out and bagged the rest of our groceries were unchecked because we were still checking out. Diane in self check out came up and said our items were not being scanned we told her that we were not done yet. We are in the middle of checking out. She proceeded to walk over and take all of our items out of the finished bag and started to rescan them so another showing up multiple times on the kiosk. I asked for her to go get her manager at one point she had walked over, grabbed me by my arm and started to pull me back. Another customer had walked over to intervene. Needless to say the manager was very helpful but the whole situation still should've never happened. We filed a police report and we called corporate. I have been to this specific Walmart at least once a week for the past five years and I will never be back. read more
