While I was only visiting in the area and needed to go to a grocery store, I was delighted to learn that Ralphs was a part of the Kroger chain similar to my hometown Fry's Food and Drug Stores. Recognizing the need for a quick set of groceries, I stopped by this Ralphs with my wife a few days ago. It is a good store with most items in stock. The layout of the store wasn't too different than my regular Fry's stores. It was also well-labeled at the top of each aisle, so I was able to find what I was looking for rather quickly. I was looking for a few specific items from bottled water to sunscreen (summer essentials) and a few snacks. From end-caps to the regular aisles, everything I was looking for was in stock, and I was able to easily check out at a self-checkout station on the way out. I had to remind myself that there was a surcharge for bags (paper not plastic) which was fine as I was able to carry the items to my car. May wife and I did roam the Ralph's website before we went inside to see what was on sale. Ironically, any digital coupons added for Fry's were automatically also added for Ralph's, which saved me the hassle of doing so again. There were a lot of digital coupons available for already low prices. If you go to their website (https://www.ralphs.com), you can find digital coupons, the weekly ad, holiday promotions, 4X gift card promotions, meal planning and recipes, a store locator, and Boost membership information (along with other information). Boost is a special membership that includes double fuel points, unlimited free delivery, streaming options (free Disney+ bundle with ads), and member exclusive offers all for $99 per year. If you're already paying for the Disney+ bundle with ads, you may be able to pay a bit less and get Boost for free. While there are many grocery stores around the country, the Kroger stores including Ralph's are special, and I certainly recommend it to others! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this Ralphs, specifically with a cashier named Jason. What made the interaction especially frustrating was that I watched him be extremely friendly, talkative, and joking around with the male customer ahead of me in line. However, when it was my turn, his demeanor completely changed. He barely spoke a word to me, avoided basic customer-service interactions, and seemed annoyed by my presence from the start. At one point, I apologized for having several packs of hot dog buns, and he simply ignored me. The only thing he said to me during the entire transaction was asking for my ID for alcohol. He didn't greet me, didn't ask if I wanted bags, didn't thank me, and generally acted as though he couldn't be bothered to acknowledge me at all. He silently scanned my items and then stared at me when it was time to pay. What made the contrast even more noticeable was that before I had even finished checking out, he had already started joking and chatting with the man behind me in line, just as he had with the customer before me. The difference in how he treated me compared to the men around me was impossible to ignore and came across as incredibly rude and, frankly, sexist. The bright spot of this experience was Jilly, who was helping bag groceries. She was kind, friendly, and genuinely pleasant. Her professionalism and warmth were the only reason this visit wasn't a complete negative. Customer service should be consistent for everyone. Unfortunately, Jason made me feel unwelcome and dismissed, while Jilly demonstrated exactly how customers should be treated. read more

This location has a lot of great specialty groceries. For example, they have caffeinated flavored milk with 20g Protein. The flavors are: Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, and Strawberry. They also have a large variety of energy drinks, sweet potato flavored corn tortilla chips, hummus, natural sodas, natural snacks, etc. The staff is busy here. I was impressed to see a Starbucks inside the location. We opted to do self checkout. It was a quick and easy trip. I also was able to purchase my lottery tickets from the machine up front. They have a full floral and balloons department here. There are many convenient options for Easter here. This location is great! read more

His name is Angel and was literally working his butt off with the Saturday morning crowd. He had a great attitude the entire time, even with some of the grumpy people who hadn't had their coffee yet. The customer service at the Ralphs stores is pretty poor. The never want to help. They roll there eyes at you if you want help and keep you standing at the front desk not even asking you if you need help. I stood at the front desk for 10 minutes. I want out and took my business to vons off of Alga and El Camino. We're they helped me find an item I had been looking for. I will not step food into the Ralphs off of La Costa. As they fired an employee who worked for the Gelsons store for having a medical emergency and not being able to return right away to work. This lady was the heart and sole of that Gelsons store. You could always go to her for the best customer service. No matter what she was doing she had time for you. I spoke with her as she told me she was terminated for violating the rules. And no one with the company tried to help or contact he. She said she was never told of the rules. Long story short I will take my holiday seafood orders to Vons as I feed 25 to 30 family and friends at the holidays. I will not shop at a company the places numbers on employees and treat them like shit. She was a supporter of Ralphs before they took over the La Costa location and told all the customers to come support the new location. Since they didnt support her I don't support them. A good selection of organic produce, grassfed pasture raised meats, and an overall pleasant shopping experience. If you have an electric car or PHEV, you can usually grab a few extra % while you're shopping gratis courtesy of the Shell refueling chargers in the parking lot if you're lucky enough to grab a spot. While the store is a bit too expensive for all our needs, it's great for some of those specialty items. The beets and carrots I got from here were so fresh and vibrant and the meats have all been high quality. Lots of sales too if you're looking for a large pork butt for $8, you might just find it. read more

I'm beyond frustrated with this location and the Manager on duty, Taylor. We ordered a custom cake several days ago online for our son's 3rd birthday to be picked up at 5pm 5/23. We got confirmation online the order was placed, and received online. At 4pm it still didn't show completed so we called to check and make sure it would be ready for us to pick up after dinner. When we called we were transfered to the bakery where the phone rang until the call was disconnected. We called back and the same voice told us that there was nobody in the bakery and they would put us on hold and walk over personally to check status. We waited on hold and eventually stated it ringing again and then was disconnected. We called back 2 more times from the same phone number and nobody picked up. We showed up to the store at about 715 and nobody was in the bakery so I asked to speak to the Manager for some help. The manager, Taylor, walked us over and said the exact same thing the voice on the phone did "can you describe what the cake was supposed to look like?" He didn't see it, he looked over to the guy in the deli and asked "were we able to find that?" I can only assume Taylor was the person who answered both calls and didn't pick up the additional calls. I just wish they had the decency to tell us the cake was not ready and was not going to be ready that day before we drove out of our way to pick it up. read more

This is my local Ralph's and no, not the most exciting review.... but I had a experience last week that made it an exceptional market. All my normal people treat me great and smile... from Kelly, Kyle, Richard on. Always happy to help. But last week, Deb and i decided we wanted a special appetizer to go with a great wine. So i go to Christine in the cheese section and asked if they had Baked Brie. She grimaced a bit and said it's in the big freezer. Hold on. Maybe 10 minutes later she brings it out. Apple honey baked brie. Perfect! Then we both look at the price and it's almost $20!!!!! Size perfect for two....I disappointingly leave and say thanks for the try. Two days later I walk in and say hi to Christine and she waves and points at the brie. $9!!!!!! All smiles she hands it to me and I'm kinda amazed at what must have happened, but bought it and here it is! It was fantastic!!!! And the wine not bad either. The closest Ralph's to me, I have only had pleasant experiences here. Not normally Ralph's shopper but had some coupons and decided to pop in on Christmas Eve and again later. I was dreading Christmas Eve but it was only pleasantly busy and still really well stocked, even though it's on the smaller side. Parking was easy in the lot, store was older but clean, produce I purchased was fresh, there were some good deals on produce and also a great spot for meat. Would shop here again! read more

Just to start out, this is the store that's in my local neighborhood and I have to drive by it because it's dishonest. On more than one occasion I've been overcharged on all their sale prices. They advertise them, but don't honor them until you catch them. I decided to try it again because I needed a couple little things. I saw a Discount specifically on beer and I figured it would be a test to see if they can get the price right which they failed and confuse the clerk so much they didn't know what to do. They just started giving me everything. I asked for back, but never refunded me all the taxes on the mistake. They have made this place is expensive to begin with and now they're adding extra stuff and don't honor their super special pricing. read more

The self checkout alone is reason not to go - the barcode sensors don't work or lag and it constantly errors out requiring help - completely defeating the purpose of using it. Infuriating. It's a long list of issues and will likely never return - there's too many other options nearby. I was in the store yesterday to grab a few items. I came across a dad with a young son who was throwing up in the aisle. He also had his young daughter with him. I went up and asked him if he needed anything. He said, "Yes, can you get someone to come clean this up." I said I would. I went to the self check out area and Todd called over the speaker for mop on aisle 19. I went back to tell the dad. This young kid (Tyler) who worked there walked up to the dad, looked at the throw up and walked away to get a roll of paper towels. He hands the dad the roll to clean it up. I asked him do you not have a mop and he said no he doesn't. The dad asked also is there not a mop and Tyler responded no. I went back up to Todd, who was quite busy so I waited, and Tyler had walked up to ask him something. Once he was available I told Todd what happened. He said Tyler just asked where a mop was. I asked if he was a manager and Todd responded that he was a manager. I said, you probably should train the employees where a mop is and how to clean up messes. Tyler never went and mopped the mess as I walked back by and there was no "wet floor" sign and Tyler was not back there cleaning it. I saw the dad in line and told him they were getting a mop and he said he went to get someone else himself. No one came and cleaned it. How does a market not have a mop? This employee Tyler should be trained that this would have been his job to clean it with a mop and sanitizer. But to give the dad a roll of paper towels to clean it was completely shocking!!! The Bakery. A few weeks ago, I had ordered a cake for a wedding anniversary online. When I went to pick it up the next day, to my horror, the young man working there couldn't find the cake and even tried calling his manager with no success. Thankfully, there were a few cakes that were premade at the counter, so I had to make due and pick one up and had the young man write on it. He was very apologetic and I learned NOT to order online again. Then recently when my daughter wanted a "cookie cake" for her birthday, the only place close by that I have seen them was at this Ralphs. I called this time. No answer. I tried calling a few more times within a couple of hours when I finally got a "live" person. This person, Gabriel, worked at the deli section and not the bakery. He was very kind and helpful and said that they do make them. He advised me to call back at 4:00pm - the time when a young guy who works in bakery starts his shift (I was guessing was the same young man who helped me before). But before I got off the phone with Gabriel, he also helped me with a catering order for fried chicken and he also reassured me that he would follow-up on my cookie cake order when he arrived back at work the next day to make sure it was going to be made. I called after 4:00 pm and was able to put my order in to a man at the bakery. The next day at my pick-up time, the cookie cake was ready and so was the fried chicken. It was such a relief! Employees that are not just customer service oriented, but are kind and go beyond their duty really make a company. If not for the young man that works at the bakery (I forgot his name) or Gabriel, I wouldn't take another chance in ordering bakery items or hot deli food at this grocery store. read more

This Ralph's seems fine, looks recently remodeled and higher-end than Ralph's I've been to in the OC. I liked that they had a giant kitchen wares section in the middle. I needed some new spatulas and it was nice to be able to get my groceries and hard-goods without going to a Target after. Many, many choices of kitchen gadgets and pots and pans. Also some nicer lines that you could give as a gift if you needed something quick, let's say If you forgot a coworkers birthday. Just as an example. The store is very big and has 20 different chamomile teas and everything else under the sun. I see a lot of posts about the lack of cashiers, but when I was there it seemed like there were plenty.
