I think I'm being very kind with 3 stars.... In the end, a business should make sure they do one thing.... take your money. This proves to be very difficult here. There are employees wandering around the store, but none at check out. Really? All I want to do is buy and go. Tough here. But not understaffed because I see people walking around. The store is nicely laid out and clean... wait, maybe that's what they do!!!! Also, when one cashier has to go get an ice cream another one does not fill in... you just wait. Never really needed prescriptions on a regular basis until recently and really surprised how professional and client friendly they are. Always lets me know when my order is ready and rarely a wait. Gillina and Jason are the rudest Pharmacy employees I have ever met. I had an issue with a prescription and I called them over the phone. They hung up on me once. Gullina acted as if I was burdening her to help me and when I spoke with Jason he treated me like I was garbage. He kept accusing me of yelling at him while he would speak over me in a rude condescending tone. I asked him questions on how we could fix the situation I was in and his response was "ok". Then I would try to speak and he would raise his voice to speak over me. I have never been treated so poorly in my life and I'm just trying to get my medication since I am riddled with health issues. My wife heard the call and couldn't believe that I was speaking to pharmacy employees. I would NEVER recommend Rite Aid and all of my family will be taking our prescriptions and overall business elsewhere. Just transferred my rx to Costco because I have a chronic illness and cannot rely on this pharmacy to fill my prescriptions in a reasonable manner. They are severely understaffed and their few staff they have are apathetic and willing to lie or just make stuff up. I've gone to pick up prescriptions that were said to be ready only to be told they haven't been filled yet. I've also frequently been ignored upon coming up to the counter for minutes at a time, but then when I try to get someone's attention just to be sure they know I am there and waiting, they will respond rudely to me, rolling their eyes and snap at me with visible irritation that they'll get to me when they can. I've also been given partial fills without being told the last three times I've picked up. Like I said I am chronically ill and take many medications just to manage my condition and be able to do anything day to day, so it is absolutely unacceptable to keep receiving medications with only a few days' worth of doses and not even have the pharmacist mention it to me or even tell me when I can expect to come pick up the rest. They almost never have new medications in stock when my doctor prescribes them to me and I often have to wait up to a week to start them. Again, chronically ill, this has been an actual health issue for me to keep up with my prescriptions. I have also frequently had to correct workers on how many and which prescriptions I am filling / trying to pick up, and they typically respond to me irritably when I do, which is very frustrating as they should have all of the correct information right in front of them on the computer. Most recently when I went in to pick up 3 prescriptions, the worker checked my account and told me I had one rx to pick up, & when i corrected her she glared at me, then looked at the screen again and said "yes you have 3 to pick up today" then why did you say 1 in the first place??? She literally just made it up even though SHE WAS THE ONE WHO FILLED MY PRESCRIPTION! Anyway I'll never go back to this pharmacy or recommend it to anyone. read more

Customer service is hit or miss, seemingly depending on their emotional state at the time. Sometimes you'll get friendly banter, sometimes you'll get weird observations or questions about the stuff you're buying. Sometimes there's some sketchy folks loitering outside the store. Every Time I'm anywhere near Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad, I have to run over to Rite Aid to get 2 scoops of Rainbow Sherbet ice cream in a waffle cone. As close to Heaven as I'll ever get, even though my doctor tells me I'll be going to the Great Beyond soon if I don't quit eating so much sugar. Very few Ice cream shops have Rainbow Sherbet anymore. While I'm there, I always find something else I need. Service, location, and value can't be beat. And what I am using the medication for! I advised her I would be reporting her to the state. Contacted 800 # to, The Rite Aid Customer Service line. They took my complaint seriously then after I got a call from Erin or Aaron; Thee area Corp supervisor" a complete jerk! And Due to [his] and the Pharmacist incompetence on this matter, I will Be submitting a complaint with the state! It's no wonder why they are closing Rite Aid Stores across the country! I've been getting my prescriptions from this rite aid pharmacy for several months now having moved back to the area and I have to say, every time I call with questions and when I come in I am always accommodated by everyone. Faith, the pharmacy manager, is so understanding and patient with addressing my concerns and providing me with the information I need to feel confident about my medications and supplements as well as navigating insurance, which has given me so many problems. She has shown me compassion and offered sound advice. I've also witnessed outstanding communication between her and her staff to make sure everyone is on the same page and the place is running smoothly. They definitely do what they can here and I have faith in Faith to meet my pharmacy needs. Thank you so much Faith and the rest of the Rite aid staff. Appreciate you guys! read more

I'm not sure how to rate this. The female pharmacist is awful with a goddess complex. My Rxs are never ready and she claims every time it wasn't called in or it's too early. Last night, I had enough, the Dr actually called her and she refused to talk to her! Is that legal? Now I'm back the next morning and late for work. ( always with this lady) I'm done!!! I have had nothing but problems getting prescriptions at the Rite Aid on Avenida Encinitas in Carlsbad. I was told my script was there and when I showed up they said they were out of it. This is a drug that must been taken twice a day. Last month I had the same situation. I spoke to the manager and he said he has issues keeping employees. I went to the Rite Aid on Manchester in Carlsbad where the drug was transferred to and it was a difference of day and night. I will never go back to the Avenida store again. read more

Conveniently located store just off the freeway with plenty of parking, but Unfortunately I had an unfriendly incident with a employee. I walked into the store with my 2 children to treat them to ice cream. I went directly to the Ice Scoop counter. A employee by the name of Robert finished with a customer at the front register and walked over to the Ice Cream counter. Robert says, "What can I get you?" in a very direct tone. At this point I notice a very cold and unfriendly attitude from Robert. I'm only here to give my 2 boys a treat and don't want to get into an exchange, so I endure the transaction. After all 3 of us ordered and revived our $6 total value in ice creams, I start walking to the front register to pay. I'm a bit away from the counter when Robert says at a very high volume, "ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR THOSE?!?!" I turned to him and said, "Yeah, I'm walking to the register. He says, "NO, you pay for those here!" At this point we got into a bit of an exchange, I was asking him what did he think I was going to do, walk out? I asked him if he knows what customer service is and could he have said that more politely. It was clear I was getting in line to pay. Robert is a very unhappy, disgruntled employee. First impressions are a lasting impression. I frequent Rite Aid often and decided to venture in this location since I was in the area. I was excited to see they had a few items in stock that were not available at other locations. Unfortunately my check out experience was disappointing. Once I paid for my purchase, I asked for a bag to put my items in since one was not offered. The associate placed a bag on top of my items with the expectation that I was responsible for bagging my own items. I have NEVER experienced this at any other store. It was clear that my business was not appreciated. I was tempted to return my items immediately but opted to just leave and not return. The level of service received was unacceptable and not warranted in what is considered an essential place of business during these trying times. read more

Gave them a try today even though they have bad ratings. Found out it was all justified. Called this morning 9am'sh, lady said my prescription in stock, just come by. Came by afternoon, guy says he can't find my order, then finds it and says he'll have to look for it on the shelf, but that he can't right now because he has to goto lunch now. Said he would call me back when he finds my order after lunch and proceeds to roll the window gate down on me. Can't make this stuff up. I'll never be back for any reason. I have to say that ladies working the pharmacy are so polite and accommodating! They always take their time with you to make sure you are taken care of. All technicians are very friendly and courteous but one stands out the most and that's Brianna. Brianna is always in a good mood and goes above and beyond for my children and I whenever we come to the pharmacy. I honestly pay the extra $2 for advil at Rite aid instead of going to Albertsons because Brianna's customer service is above and beyond. I also got both of my covid 19 vaccines here and the ladies were handling it great. Thank you for all that you do!! read more

Initially I was thrilled with this pharmacy but over the last 6 months it's gone way downhill - they have consistently not run things through my insurance and tried to charge me the full amount, leaving me sitting there waiting which isn't ideal when it's a pandemic and you are trying to limit time in public spaces. I visit Carlsbad twice a month. While I'm here, I stop by this store to pick up a few things to make my trip comfortable. One of the things I buy here on a regular basis is the Muscle Milk 4 pack. One of my routines in the morning is to have one of these Shakes with my Vitamins. This store carries Muscle Milk. The employees who work here are always friendly and the store is kept clean. The pharmacists don't have much customer service training. You can stand in line for a while and realize they are avoiding eye contact as they try to finish up other things. I understand that they're busy, but a simple "I'll be with you in a minute" would be nice. I've also never heard them call my name when the prescription is filled and ready -- I always have to go to the counter and ask. They're helpful once they talk to you, but that just seems to take a while. Other than that, this is a pretty typical Rite Aid. read more

Kudos to RiteAid for investing in this store. For the longest time this store was tired - the left door was closed, the outdoor sales area was empty and being inside the place was depressing. It could have been worse though. Thankfully this location never had the frustratingly insane diagonal aisle layout that some RiteAids have (locally, the first that comes to mind is the store at Del Mar Highlands). The pharmacy has always been convenient for me and I think the prices are competitive. I've never done any serious analysis to check if the prices are consistently lower than at the other drug stores, grocery stores, discounters or warehouse clubs in the area, but for staples like deodorants, hair gel, toothpaste, and OTC medicines on the go I think this RiteAid is a good place to try. This store is much nicer now. Both doors now open, the lighting is better, the floors in the front are new and the registers are now against the front wall. Thankfully the pricing doesn't seem to have changed much if at all. I also think the pharmacy is definitely busier now. Mission accomplished. read more

Ridiculous that they have to scan your I.D. to purchase Alka Seltzer cold and flu, when I can buy on Amazon and have it delivered to my door in less than 24 hours with NO I.D. This is NOT a law, it's ridiculous policy that is going to drive customers away. I can go next door to Ralphs and get it there as well with no I.D.
