I mostly stopped in because I wanted a wrist watch and some makeup. I was pleasantly surprised by the in-stock level at this location. As far as the watches go, the cheap wall (around 12$ each) was fully stocked but the pricier side only had around 5 options and 1 of each style. I found a Men's Timex Indiglo (I like big faces!) watch for less than 55$ that I absolutely love! Elf brand makeup used to be 3$ and on floor displays around Cosmetics, now it's 8$ and locked up. I don't understand why the watches are NOT locked up here but makeup is.... An employee came over quickly to help me with makeup and was very friendly. This store was not busy and the parking lot reflected that. Easy in, easy out. I recently shopped at Walmarts in every state on my road trip to the Midwest (northern route) and this location is by far the nicest I've ever been to. Overall, I am enjoying exploring my new stomping grounds of quirky Encinitas. I'll be back! It's very difficult for people who are trying not to shop at Walmart right now. It's better than using Amazon, tho so...here I was. I was in the bougie area of Carlsbad. This Walmart keeps almost everything in their beauty, toiletries section, totally locked up. Even nail polish remover which is around $2, which is what I came in for. Seeing whole sections of inexpensive products locked up is annoying and ridiculous. I bought a couple products in the grocery area (one 12 pack of soda that I didn't have to buy 8 other 12 packs for to get a good price) then went to self serve to ring myself up. If I only have 3 things, I'm not going to wait in a line for an actual cashier. There were 2 employees standing right next to my self serve line. They were two busy flirting with each other than to acknowledge any of the customers or actually do anything. This store is the worst. However, it is very close to Target. Which is also on the should avoid list, but at least they don't lock up the nail polish remover. read more

Located in Encinitas this Walmart is the nicest and cleanest Walmart I've been to. It is new and clean. I did self checkout so I can't speak for the service. This walmart is great! read more

It really sucks when there is only 1 handicap scooter in the entire store that is available.... And, it dies in the back of the store!,I will no longer be shopping in the Encinitas store.... This is actually the 2nd and/or 3rd time thar there are no handicap scooters, and they haven't been plugged in if there are any. No power and I have gotten stuck. ALSO, the new design for the store (clothing area especially) is so crammed in there now and, the scooter cannot get by.... The store was much better before it was remodeled.... Every pharmacy around was out of stock on my medication. I called this pharmacy and spoke to a very pleasant young woman, Leslie. She informed me that they have two in stock. I told her that I'm my way. When I got there, Craig helped me imput my information as I was a new client to them. He was very helpful and patient as I was trying to gather all the information needed from my insurance company. It took a long time for my doctors office to send my prescription. Then when they did, it was the wrong dose. So i was basically waiting for over 2 hours for my doctor's office to get it straight. The pharmacist was kind enough to help by placing calls to the doctor. In the end, Diana squared away all the issues and I got my medication. I will be moving my prescription to this pharmacy. Everyone was so nice, helpful, understanding and professional. I am so thankful for the pharmacist, Leslie, Craig and Diana. read more

I had 15 itens in my cart, might have looked like a lot but it wasnt. They had 2 registers open on a Friday before Christmas. 2 ppl in self check out and 4 open at self check out. Nancy said im gonna have to send you to the lines if you have more than 15. I told her I didn't and the lines were long and only 2 registers opened but I did try there first. She said "well I don't care that's not my problem" sounds like Nancy is done working in customer service. You don't talk that way to people. It's not kind or respectful and I am super nice. Shame on this super wealthy location looking like a bomb hit the restroom at 10:50pm on Sunday night. I called the San Diego Health Department and made a complaint due to unreasonable bathroom defects. This entire store is garbage. They hardly have any tools or and the cut fruit looks like it's a week old and leaking. They do not take any pride in their store. The older gentleman who "watches" the door is very selective who he greets and acknowledges. I get a Trump loving vibe in that store. Look who the management is. This location is super weak. This location has absolutely thee worst layout of all the Walmarts in the county along with the worst Instacart orders that go out of it. Constantly out of stock of so many items. Sometimes I end up finding what I need on the riser because the lazy staff doesn't keep up with refilling the shelves. When I need to find specific items, be it groceries, electronics, home items etc...the first place I think of is Walmart. The layout of the store makes it easy to navigate and I can usually find things quickly. The Walmart mobile app can help you find "in-store" items and you can use it to make contact free payments using Walmart Pay. I also use the mobile app to scan bar codes for current prices on items that I find in the store that don't have prices visible. If you wish to purchase items in advance on the app, you can request curbside pickup which I've done and it works very well. Yes...we have other department stores in the area and they all offer different sales, pricing etc..., but I always seem to return to Walmart for the rollback pricing and convenience that the mobile app provides. It makes my shopping experience so much easier. read more

Sade was INCREDIBLE! Never in my life did I think I would be giving a Walmart a five star review but this employee went above and beyond and made my experience incredible! She helped me through a complex return process and just after hours which would have made it so easy to just say "go away and come back later". DO NOT buy the insurance for their products. If there is an issue they will tell you to take it up with the manufacturer so it's useless. Do not buy a Prettycare vacuum from Walmart. Mine suddenly stopped working right after the 90 day window and they won't replace it or refund me for it. Even worse the insurance said to go to the manufacturer so the insurance is useless. I came here for a last minute item (around 8pm on Tuesday night) and couldn't find it for the life of me. The employee stocking shelves (older gentleman with glasses - I forgot to get his name) who was stocking in the plumbing fixtures section was extremely helpful and very courteous. He went out of his way to help me, and was very friendly, and knew exactly where the item was that I was looking for. Despite it being on the other side of the store. Why would you put this man as a door greeter? I walked in and he just stared at me so I proceeded to greet him. Got this weird little feeling so I stayed in the area and he only greeted the non minorities. The folks who run the check outs are always super friendly and helpful when needed. They make shopping here a pleasure. There is one gal who works returns in the a.m. who openly disdains customers and customer service in general but is easily avoided. Recently with inflation we decided to try saving by going to Walmart. We've been able to save 50-60 dollars a week by switching from Amazon Fresh. Lately we've been lucky when there isn't long lines or it could be the new amazing staff! I appreciate every single one of the hard working people but I've got to say how much John stands out the most! I always notice him moving around and making sure customers are taken cared of. I also have to give a good word to Michael who really made us feel special during check out. He put a smile on all our faces. Some if the employees are not very nice one if them got get mad at my family when we have more items the 15 before they stared to enforce the 15 item rule. I used their pickup (they deliver to your car) feature. It was only my second time to this location and I was very happy. there were a few odds and ends I had been looking for and Walmart was the only place I could find what I wanted (and specifically this location)... so I added other odds and ends into my cart to meet the minimum $ requirement for pickup. I could have picked up my order later that day, but no time at all...so I scheduled it for Saturday pickup (3 days later)... that morning I received an email that the order was behind schedule. no biggie..I didn't have anything to do that day anyways. about an hour later I received an alert that my order was ready. I went there and parked in a designated spot....clicked "I'm Here" and waited. they had signs asking customers to remain in their cars. when looking around...almost every car had the people waiting outside and w/o masks..ugh. lame peeps. my order came out and I had my back window open for them to put it in the backseat (since I have a teeny tiny car w/o a significant trunk). they still walked to the "trunk" area. I called out and asked for backseat and they kindly did so. AFTER they left, I got out and double checked the contents of my order. All there! Lots of shoppers present but limited number of cash registers and manager declined to open more unmanned cash registers citing that central management would not allow them to open more registers. Lots of panhandlers in parking lot and there are always solicitors at the only entrance/exit. The greeters at the shop are unfriendly which is a rarity for most Walmarts. Furthermore despite the high dollar location, the parking lot feels unsafe. I would not let a loved one shop alone at this location. A security guard presence in the parking lot would be a good investment. Opening up more cash registers would be a seemingly reasonable solution. Staff would probably be more friendly if they did not have to deal with angry customers because of questionable management decisions. I have been going to this location for the past 5 years. It has really taken a downturn. Location at Kearny Mesa is further away, but it seems better managed. read more

I used to live near a Super Target when I lived further north, so I used to live there, or so it seems. Targets by my house are limited so I decided to check out this Walmart and I was not disappointed. It's like a Super Walmart with a broad selection of groceries, produce, shoes, apparel for kids, sports gears and equipment, it's like a grocery store, REI, and Target in one. I was really impressed. The organic selection of produce isn't huge but it's really reasonable. The bike selections were a lot bigger than most places, so of course my kids got new bikes. I think I'll have to come back here for the kayaks. read more

Look if you're coming here it's for the prices. They know that. They are the DMV of retailers so they don't care if you come or not. I ordered a Christmas tree and they couldn't find it. There unfortunately wasn't a good way to check in the status online as the system wasn't working so I called. I called seven times, yes seven, and no one answered. Honestly I kinda respect that. They know who they are and they don't care about customers at all. The associates who work get paid either way whether you get your stuff or not, and answering the phone would only be another thing they have to do. This location has the most unfriendly and unhelpful employees I have ever experienced. It's almost like they all are just having a bad day everyday, I don't understand? It sure ruins my day coming in here. I have given them so many chances as it is close and convenient to my house, but unfortunately I now prefer to drive farther to Oceanside or Vista for better customer service. Additionally, this store is noticeably much smaller, not as well stocked as others, and is often out of many items promoting a trip to another Walmart anyways.
