If I could give less than one star I would! Wally never fixed his work properly and refused to issue a refund when requested. He continuously ignored my attempts to communicate. I finally took him to small claims court and won the case. He wouldn't pay the judgement until I contacted his bond holder and requested payment. I've used Wally and his crew several times now. Always a great experience . Usually in the construction industry you either get a great price and crappy service or ok service for a high cost. With Wally and his crew you'll get a great price, great work and a pleasurable , personable experience . I have anyway. Your never going to see a company in the construction industry with perfect reviews and most of the time you won't see construction companies on yelp at all because it's a tough industry to find good service in period. We had a terrible experience with Wally's drywall which is unfortunate, since our neighbors had a good one and recommended him to us. This January we had a leak in the wall behind our shower. Wally's drywall came out to fix the hole in the wall (see attached photo). They patched and added texture. The texture looked great on most of the wall and horrible on one section of the wall. I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing they over-sprayed. Anyway, it was uneven and really noticeable. We had also paid them to paint it, which they did. A portion of the wall wrapped around to our bathroom (section you see below is in our master bedroom) where the paint color changes. The paint line between the rooms is super straight except where they painted. The person who did it didn't even put painters tape on the wall and just free-handed it. Additionally, they washed off their paintbrushes in our master bathroom sink and left paint residue all over the counter. It was so sloppy. We let Wally know about the above so he sent out another person to fix it. Again, the texture patch was super noticeable. We called and he said (verbatim) that if he kept patching the same spot it would only look worse and that was the best he could do. We argued and finally he said he would send someone to pull down the texture and redo the whole thing. Fine. That SUNDAY (yes, a weekend day) Wally's wife comes to our house, unannounced and demands payment from us. I told her that the job was not done to our satisfaction and once it was complete we would be happy to pay. She demanded to see the work and argued with us until my husband threw her out of our house. She implied several times that we did not want to pay them, that we were trying to swindle them. Completely out of line. My husband called Wally and told him what happened and he apologized, but the entire thing was so unprofessional. Finally, the following week Wally sent someone to fix the wall. They stripped the texture and re-did it and also repainted everything. The wall looks great now, as it should have after the first two times. Wally contacted me immediately after and asked if his wife could come collect payment in person. Super crazy as his wife had just come into our house and insulted us days prior. I told him I would send a check which he would receive shortly. Personally, I would never use Wally's drywall again. I also own my own small business and the unprofessionalism and lack of quality work was appalling. Buyer beware. read more

Wally's drywall came out to our house because they were dispatch from Fidelity home warranty insurance to fix the wall because the plumber had to cut a hole in the wall to fix the pipe. It was Underneath the kitchen sink. So Wally's came out and told me that's all I could do so and I went and looked at the job underneath the sink and it was like a two-year-old kid did it. It was not flush to the wall it was pieced together and they're still hole. I would rate this guy zero he should not be in Business. read more

Very unprofessional with time and communication. Came to patch my ceiling (a 2x2) hole. When I asked him questions he answered me back very rudely. He was at my house for maybe 20min and told me he needed to go on a hour break., Or needed to return on another day? If he didn't have ample time to finish the job he shouldn't of scheduled it in the later morning. I was just rubbed the wrong way. It went through my insurance so idk if that's why there was a lack in customer service. Either way I was going to pay out of pocket for everything else like texturing and paint. We had a floor to ceiling 1986 brick fireplace removed and replaced. That left a mid-wall to ceiling disaster in the drywall that was behind the bricks. There were massive holes where the original mason had tried to hammer in hangers for the bricks and hit the wall so hard it blew out 4-6" holes. Also, the mason wedged the top run of bricks into the cathedral ceiling by just hammering them through the ceiling drywall. Wally said it could be fixed without replacing any drywall. I was skeptical, but he sent out one of his crew, Armando, and he did his magic. He screened the holes, put on three layers of different types of mud, and then adjusted his texture gun to perfectly match the texture on the large walls to either side of the repair. A mid-wall patch is the most difficult thing to hide. I dare anyone to see where the original texture ends and where Armando's work starts. P.S. For the complaint about Wally not doing good paint work, HE IS A DRYWALL GUY. If you need a painter, hire one. He only paints when someone puts a gun to his head. He told me straight up that isn't what he is good at. People can get real picky on painting (color, tape off, etc.). read more

I was recommended to Wally's Drywall Repair by another contractor that I used to repair my deck, who also did a great job, by the way. Wally came out to my place & provided a very reasonable quote for basically taking care of all the settling drywall cracks that I had accumulated over the course of several years. He assured me that the fixes would hold up well and wouldn't reoccur (unless we had a major earth quake, of course). Due to the type of texture that I have, the re-texturing could be done by hand, and not with a sprayer, which saved a lot of time in terms of not having to seal off areas with plastic drop clothes. Wally came out in the morning to prep everything, followed by Javier who actually did the texturing and finished later in the afternoon. The job turned out great and I am very satisfied! Wally may be good at some simple sheet rock jobs, I don't know... His price was good, so we hired him. He did a large job for us in Pleasanton which included acoustical ceiling removal (popcorn), wall paper removal, some sheetrock repair, and painting. Wally started out OK on day one and went downhill from there. It proceeded to be a nightmare. Both he and his workers were very sloppy, did not listen to our requests and the paint job was the worst I've seen in 35 years of selling real estate. His attitude was terrible, the job took way longer than expected and he tried to say he was finished when basically, the whole interior needed to be repainted. One of his painters (a new employee) offered to fix the paint job and repaint. Wally said OK and then proceeded to not pay the worker what he was due. The original painter was awful. He used some of our equipment, tools, and supplies without asking. It was one of the worst jobs I have ever worked on. I would definitely NOT recommend Wally for anything. Again, maybe some simple sheet rock work is OK for him but if it's painting or good professional service, look elsewhere! read more

With the California economy doing so well lately, it's getting hard to find contractors. I had a hole in the ceiling from a plumbing repair, but limited time to fix the hole. Wally was one of the few contractors that called me back the same day, and then offered to do the job the next day too at a reasonable price. Used Wally's before BUT NOT Wally himself. Used a co-worker, Javier Martinez who I rate very highly with 5 stars plus. I called Javier to come back to my home to complete some work but I got a phone call from Wally politely chewing me out that Javier 'works' for him and I needed to go through him. I told Wally what I wanted ... 3 times ... and that I wanted Javier. So Wally shows up early Saturday morning, saying HE is going to do the work. I showed him what had to be done and also asked if he could also do a bit of drywall addition, very small area. He says sure. So he goes outside, comes back, hands me a Bill for $500. $500. This was a 12 x 12 room with some light patch work on 3 walls, taping and drywall paste. I had no choice, I needed it done. In less an hour he was done. I asked about the small drywall addition and he says get your handyman to do it. "Wally's Drywall". He took shortcuts, he did not fill the holes from the screws and nails, saying those will be covered, why bother. "Okay I done", he said. I said, Wally, I told you (now the 4th time) I wanted the ceiling prepped with the textured material. "oh, you wanted that too". I told him I wanted Javier to do it. He goes outside, comes back in and now says the Bill is now $600. So he starts prepping the ceiling and did a CRAPPY job. He did not follow the pattern of the living room that Javier did and the textured pattern went all over the place. I gave him a check and he left. The wife came home and said, "oh hell no". I notified Wally to send Javier to my home to do the job correctly. Javier came out and did a PERFECT JOB. My opinion, Wally is an older man and NEEDS to retire since he does not want to do what YOU tell him to do. He cuts corners and does a half-ass job. It is like he does not care about the work anymore. Bored. IF you do call him, ASK FOR JAVIER to come and IF Wally shows up, SEND HIM PACKING. He will rip you off as he did me and do half the work. Actually, call another drywall company for BETTER SERVICE than you would get from Wally. AND he had me make the check out to HIM, and not Wally's Drywall.
