Came and measured my two bathroom and a kitchen remodel project. Sent a quote three weeks later for ~150k for labor only. His line items are most detailed I have ever seem. A ~$250 charge to cut the hole in sheetrock for an electrical outlet, ~$350 charge to install and connect the outlet to the main electrical system. I lost interest at that point. May be there is a charge to turn the breaker off before installation and another charge to turn it back on. Every conceivable step was a line item. I feel sorry for the guy for going through so much trouble to even give me an estimate. I will not even consider that guy because I have no idea what this project could balloon into. He may find something wrong somewhere and all of a sudden I will have another 100 line items and 50k in additional charges. No comments about his quality of work. May be he is good. All I can say is either he is totally unrealistic about market rate of such projects (which I suspect he is not) or he inflates his rates to tells certain customers he is not interested in taking on their project. read more

Radio silence for two weeks , then he emailed saying he can't bid because he doesn't have time to do it. You can be booked now but you are losing customers whose business you may need in the future! Last year we used BD construction to do a complete home remodel. No room in our home was left untouched. Popcorn ceilings were removed, new windows and sliders were put in, our exterior was re-stuccoed, lighting was installed, living room cabinets were painted, and our old linoleum floors were replaced with beautiful wood-look tile. Brandon and his team built us a walk-in pantry and completely remodeled our laundry room, kitchen, and two and a half baths. BD also redid the ceiling in our mancave, complete with insulation that has turned the room from an oven in the summer into a comfortable space. Brandon was awesome about communicating throughout the process, we were comfortable having him in our home, and we are so happy with how our home turned out! After interviewing over a handful of contractors and business to do our kitchen remodel, we decided to take our chances with Brandon. We do not regret that decision. He knows what he's talking about, what he's doing and does great quality work. He is also very easy to get along with, approachable and flexible (we had quite a bit of add ons/changes and he managed to squeeze each request in). On top of the kitchen remodel, 2 load bearing walls were knocked down, ceiling heights were raised, all walls were retextured, new hardwood flooring installed throughout house, LED lights with dimmer installed in every room, and custom window and door trim. There is a reason why Brandon is called "Mr. Magic." He can fix the impossible! I had a complicated master shower that was broken ever since I purchased my home 8 months ago. I thought it would be an easy fix, but I was completely wrong! My shower consists of a wall shower head, 4 body sprays, and a separate handheld shower head. Over 8 months, 6 contractors/plumbers tried to fix my shower. However, they all utterly failed, simply ran away in fear, or just gave up in frustration. The parts were discontinued and the antique bronze fixtures were difficult to find. I had all but given up hope of ever using my master shower until Brandon came along! He thought outside of the box and was able to figure out a solution. For example, when the shower fixture only came in brushed nickel, Brandon spray painted it to more closely match the other antique bronze fixtures. Also, he actually improved the functionality of the shower! He was able to repair two shower valves (yes, my shower actually needed 2!) and he drove all the way to San Mateo to pick up one of the valves. I feel that Brandon went above and beyond to make sure that my shower was fixed! To this day, I still can't believe that my shower works! I also want to note that Brandon is a true professional! He is very personable, friendly, and patient in answering all of my questions. He also gave me DIY repair tips. I've had my share of experiences with shady/bad contractors who don't take the time to make sure that the customer is happy. Brandon is one of the few that actually makes sure that his customers are satisfied with his work. I highly recommend him especially if you have a difficult repair. I cannot say one negative thing about this guy. Brandon was able to come in, use our design and measurements and work quickly to totally transform our kitchen! We're at it again called Brandon up to do my living room floors. They can out better than I expected. At first I was thinking that the floor would be too dark and make my room look small bc I had light flooring b4 (cheap laminate) I only had a small sample to work off of but Brandon keep telling me it will look good so I trusted him and boy was he right. Everyday I get home it so warm and inviting I wouldn't have it any other way. It only took one day and looks fantastic. I was looking for a contractor, or handyman, to help with a wall mount doggie door install. I started by requesting a quote via Yelp, with scope of work, to several tri-valley companies. Some never even responded but BD construction replied to my Yelp quote request and in a timely manner. After a few questions we were able to book the project. The lead time was fair, considering several other companies were telling me 3-4 weeks lead time. I scheduled the appointment and the door was installed today. The work was done rather quickly considering they had to penetrate a stucco wall, and we couldn't be happier the door is in, and looks great. The quote was right in line with other pricing I had received too. We were so happy with the work my husband requested a quote to have more work done (bathroom) around the house! He did our kitchen last year and I don't think we'll hire him again for our next project. We paid for the the lazy suzan for our kitchen cabinet but what we got was a pull out which is sucks. He doubled charged us for the wine cabinet and we mentioned it to him, he said he can't give us refund for that. Then they've used the same old base board (cut in 3 pieces) on one side of the kitchen wall & another wall by the dishwasher (cut in 2 pieces) instead of one new piece base board. Till now, It annoys me everytime i look at it... They were supposed to finished the kitchen before that long weekend but they didnt cause they started late. So, they had to come back the following week and it was rushed cause they've missed few things like the small piece of backsplash tile, some missed spot of grout, and he forgot to put a piece of wood to cover the gap between the bottom of my farmhouse sink & cabinet. We had to make an appointment with him, the annoying part was it took him weeks to respond. The cabinets are nice and quality is really good... but i dont think we'll do business with him in the future. read more

This was the second time in 2 years that Brandon and team did some work for us. We moved in December and were able to do quite well selling our old house because of the remodeling Brandon had done, so it was a no-brainer to use his services again. This time, we were looking to have shelving put in from the floors to the ceiling and encase the tv above the fireplace. I found Brandon as a referral from another contractor. I had a slow leak in a dishwasher that had been brewing for 6 month, as a result, it annihilated my lower cabinets, warped my hardwood, and caused some mold. This was the result of a manufacturer defect in the dishwasher, so I was dealing with their insurance company, not my homeowner's insurance. With that said, I had Brandon come out and take a look-see...he pulled up part of the hardwood and immediately saw some mold. He referred me out to a remediation company. When I finally got Brandon back once the remediation was done, I had to ask him to give me a series of estimates, as I wasn't sure what the insurance company would settle with. He was so patient and provided me with an array of estimates including some with brand new cabinetry, new granite (as my existing granite was being up with 2 x 4's and was warping), etc. He spoke to the insurance adjuster and explained why the repair should be done a certain way and the pitfalls if we cut corners. He was dream to work with in this respect! In the end, the insurance company sprung for the full deal, so a new kitchen it was! Now, phase 2, the construction itself! We signed our contract and he ordered the cabinetry weeks in advance. Through no fault of his own, the cabinets weren't ready when we expected...so there was a bit of a delay, but not much. In the meantime, I picked out new granite, sink, cabinet pulls, worked with his granite guy and painter. In the end, I have a gorgeous new kitchen that is perfect! He installed some beautiful natural stone backsplash that pulls it all together, replaced my flooring and gave me totally updated look. I can't stress enough how patient, professional, and lovely he was to work with. Nice guy, and I never felt as though I was being taken advantage of or he was cutting corners as he had to start another job before mine was finished as a result of the cabinet delay. My wife and i purchased an older home in Danville that we decided to completely remodel. After we interviewed a number of contractors we decided to go with BD construction for a couple of reasons. 1. Brandon was able to dedicate the 2.5 months for the project and 2. he was going to do a lot of the work himself or at least be on site when he called in subs. The remodel included among other things ; 2 complete bathrooms, a full kitchen remodel, taking down a wall, calling in an engineer to determine if a support post could be safely removed (it could provided some other structural work was done), raising the 7 foot ceiling in the entry, and hallway to 8 feet, replacing all the doors and a bunch of other smaller projects. Brandon was helpful through the process, paid attention to detail, anticipated problems and took care of them and best of all finished on time.WE would and have recommended him to others. read more

Brandon has done several upgrade/refurbish jobs for our 43 year old house over the past 2 years. Everything he has done has come out perfect. I have read some of the other reviews written and I agree with all of the superlative remarks about him. Brandon is very easy to talk to and makes it clear what he will accomplish each day. He excels in planning so that all the parts are available when needed. The few times this has not happened have been caused by supplier's errors. The job just completed was to completely demolish and rebuild the bath/shower/vanity room used by our 3 "kids" and guests after the kids moved out. The room is about 15 feet long by 5 feet wide. Part of this remodel was to put up a wall with a door to the toilet/bath/shower area. Brandon provided several 3D drawings of the proposed finished work. This was done quickly and helped a lot in discussions defining the final proposal and contract. The remaining area now has an added floor-to-ceiling cabinet for towels, washcloths and other items. There is a new sink under a large tri-view mirror/medicine cabinet in the center. Ceiling lighting has two round LED type lights over the vanity, and stylish wall mounted lights over the mirror. There are several drawers below a granite counter, with a large two door storage space under the sink. Last of all he replaced the original outdated linoleum floor with 2 foot by 3 foot ceramic tiles.Brandon has turned a time worn and ugly area into a beautiful, modern, two room useful area. I needed 2 tv cable outlets in different rooms moved from one wall to another wall. In each room I had the cable wire running across the floor which can be a real nuisance. I had a feeling that this would be a pain and probably cost an arm and a leg but to my surprise it didn't cost as much as I thought it would. I was looking for a contractor for a "small" remodeling job - removing a load-bearing wall, a gas wall heater, and installing a mini split heating/AC unit in my mother-in-law unit. I initially contacted 7-8 contractors looking for estimates; I ended up with three responses and two estimates.
