Also you can special order just about any plant. And their gardens are always such a nice place to browse through. Their prices are not the cheapest but great quality plants. What a lovely atmosphere! This place has been around for a while now and you can tell the owners put a lot of love into it. Everyone working here is so pleasant and nice, it's hard not to be nice when you work in such a beautiful outdoor nursery. We were looking for plants for our yard and went to some others, this is during winter so the other place wasn't very lively at all. Alden Lane however was brimming with life and color even in winter. They had stuff in bloom even. I've came twice and each time the staff were so incredibly nice and helpful, so patient with a first time gardener and really took their time to help me with their expertise. If buy their gift cards in bulk amounts you can get a discount in exchange. They're probably pricier than some other nurseries but the quality in itself and the service are spectacular truly. Alden Lane is a beautiful nursery and one of a kind where you can walk the path and find all the unique plants you've been searching for. I've found many plants I couldn't find elsewhere such as specific peony colors and bridal-veil. Also the staff are very helpful and will go out of their way to put in special orders for you if there is something out of stock. Kim was amazing and helped me order 2 pheasants for my dad's birthday gift. She even packed and shipped them for me. I came here for the first time on a weekend. They have a pretty large space and a good variety of plants, seeds, and garden decor. I was impressed by the space and all the plants looked so nice. Some of the metal garden decorations did look old, covered in spiderwebs and possibly starting to rust - but otherwise they have a lot of unique items and also great gifts for garden lovers. We didn't interact with many staff but the couple we did briefly talk to were friendly, and the person who checked us out when we purchased the dog decor was in a very cheery mood. The reason I took one star off is because the flowers and plants, while beautiful, are so expensive here - I would probably not purchase them from here because of that, but if you don't have a strict budget and would like to splurge on your garden, this is a great place to come! read more

Went this past weekend with my sister and it was amazing! There was so much to look at, we could've spent hours there. We were there for some house plants and they had their Black Friday sale going on, so we walked away with a couple new babies. Their plants are beautiful and well cared for, the prices are reasonable, I was visiting from the Fresno area, but will definitely be back the next time I'm up visiting family and sister. I just may have to bring my kids next time as I think they would love to explore the large open back area where all the annuals, citrus/fruit trees, etc are. They have a room for in house plants, cute gift shops and this past Sat. they hosted a Fall festival with activities for the whole family including live music and the booth I was volunteering- Guide dogs for the Blind. Alden Lane had their fall festival this weekend, Oct 12th & 13th. They had a band, two food trucks, a raffle, mini pumpkin patches throughout the nursery, pumpkins and apples for sale, scarecrow making contest, a flower show in the back of the nursery. After a couple of months with my plants and getting really into houseplants as a hobby, I can't recommend Alden Lane Nursery. I got a large reverted pink princess philodendron from here for 50% off which ended up having thrips and severely damaged about half of my collection. Of the others, a philodendron birkin and syngonium both had severe root rot that I couldn't ever cure. I ended up just propagating parts of the plants that seemed salvageable. I think it's important to shop at local plant shops, but I feel that way because of the care that's put into the plants. I wish I knew more about plants when I bought most of these because I would have saved a lot of money and headache with pests by knowing what to look out for. read more

Having lived in the Tri-Valley for over 35 years, we have bought many trees, plants, flowers from Alden Lane Nursery. Any time we want a special tree, we go to Alden to check out what they may have. Recently, we were looking for Limelight Panicle Hydrangea bushes. While they had some available, I didn't find exactly what i was looking for. As we were walking out, they had some water features that caught my husband's eye. We ended up buying one and brought it home. While my husband was setting it up, he noticed the light on the water fall wasn't working. I called the nursery and spoke to several people. They found me a replacement and asked me to come by and switch it out. When we arrived today, the two teenagers in the gift store were busy chatting with each other and didn't even notice us standing there. They seemed more concerned about their DoorDash delivery, than helping a customer. When they finally noticed us standing there waiting for them to realize we needed assistance, they had no clue about the exchange. All they could tell me was "that's not our department". Really? Why don't you look for someone that can help us. I was completely annoyed by then, and we finally were able to talk to Alex, who was so helpful. He found the replacement and exchanged it on the spot. I advised that his employees could use some training on customer service. Thank you, Alex, for your help and diffusing my frustration. read more

It's a beautiful nursery with a large collection of plants to choose from, helpful and knowledgable staff and plenty of parking. I've bought over 50+ fruit trees from them. Some have done fantastic like the plums and the pears. Others have done horribly. All 7 of the fig trees I planted have been growing slowly for the last 4 years. No matter what location I planted them in, their just super slow. i thought it was just the first year but by year 3 and 4 they're still only growing a few inches every year. I wonder if it has to do with them being root bound. when i bought them I noticed all the roots were circling. the apple trees i bought are doing roughly okay, if a bit slow as well. the apricot and two loquat trees i planted 4 years ago are doing great. My advice to any future customers is make sure to check if the tree is root bound before you buy it. If the roots are circling or even too crowded, don't buy it. read more

Perfect place to go when you're in need of plants, pumpkins, garden inspiration, and fresh air. They have a great autumn/Halloween display out front every year, along with apples of all varieties and pumpkins of all sizes. A few years ago, they displayed scarecrows created by students(?) or members of the community throughout the garden, so I missed seeing those this year. Hopefully they will return after the pandemic. They still have some cute displays for inspiration like turkey pumpkins though. They also have many outdoor/indoor plants, herbs, trees, succulents. The staff are nice and they offer coupons on their website, which I wasn't aware of until today. Okay.. so I admit that I don't have a green thumb at all. In fact, I probably have the blackest thumb there is but there is no judgement at Alden Lane. I am one of "those folks" who took up gardening during COVID-19 and I have to say that is one of the silver linings of this pandemic. I visited this nursery over a handful of times since March and I have been impressed with how well-run it is. Even in the very beginning (April/May), they managed to stay open with strict protocols in place. I always felt safe and at peace shopping here due to the extra measures they took (such as wiping down carts and limiting customers in an area). As a local business, I'm so glad to see they are flourishing and doing well in these tough times. Additionally, I know for a fact that the owner donated supplies to charities in need earlier this year (must not be easy during these challenging times). As for flower and plant selection, they have more than a terrific selection. Prices are slightly higher than Lowe's and Home Depot but you'll find the quality is also better. Everything is categorized (native plants, fruits/vegetables, citrus trees, Japanese maples, etc) and super easy to locate. If you want to avoid the crowds, I would suggest visiting on a weekday mid-morning. But plan accordingly... you will be tempted to stay awhile and browse. This is not a place where you run in quickly and dash out. Can't wait to be back in 2021 to pick-up my preordered roses. read more

Really awesome nursery! Came here during Covid since my family has been spending a lot of time in our backyard these days. I wanted to visit someplace new and found Alden Lane online. Decided to come for a visit and was very happy I came! They have hand washing stations near the entrance, and their check out was originally outdoors anyway (think of those booths at Disneyland). With the excellent help of Daniel he helped me buy my first plant!!! I had been trying to research basic information on YouTube but I really needed insight. This place is so fun and whimsical! Even if you have no intention of buying anything it's a great place to stroll around. I came here with me sister and nephew on a sunny Sunday afternoon. They have a relatively large parking lot. I walked in and I was shocked with how big the place is! It's mostly outdoor and it's massive! They have tons of out door plants, pots, trees (fruit bearing and non fruit bearing), houseplants, succulents, soil, you name it and I'm sure they have it! There's fun little statues of things like gnomes, dragons, and animals that makes it fun for the kiddos. I bought some succulents (about 3 dollars for one in a 2inch pot) and 3 rose plants (discount for buying 3) Lots of workers walking around if you have questions. I purchased my roses from here in June but deliberately waited until now to write a review to see how things would fare. As a gardening novice, I wanted to learn how to grow roses. My aunt, who works the gardening department of Home Depot, suggested this place for premium plants. They have an excellent selection of roses. I pretty much walked past everything else, but looks like they keep good stock of annuals, perennials, etc. Back to the roses, we settled on Moonlight Magic and Girls' Night Out hybrid tea roses. They have flourished in my garden. While the Girls' Night Out and another hybrid tea rose type that was purchased at a different nursery went dormant in September, the Moonlight Magic produced a few blooms until November, which was a big surprise. Good, healthy plants and knowledgeable staff. There is a reason my aunt didn't take me to Home Depot for plants even if they are cheaper there. read more

We just had a GREAT kids' party with Alden Lane. Sharon is a great host. She guided kids' plant a pot activity. Kids painted their pots, had a tour with five senses and planted two plants and brought them home. We are very happy with this party. Our guests even mentioned this was the best kids' party they had attended. Party room is big and beautifully decorated with arts. Nursery is beautiful. Staffs are all very nice. I love walking around this nursery on nice days with my dog! It's so nice to see all the different plants and trees they have available and enjoy the shade of the oak trees on the property too. The houseplant room is always fun to look around in since there's almost always some interesting finds in there. I've bought flowers, fruit trees, and houseplants from Alden Lane and they've all done well at home unless I've been guilty of poor care. There's a paper pot tree sale once a year and my family has loved the French prune tree we got years ago for a great price!
