I only needed two buckets (like Lowe's or HomeDepot type 5 gallon ones). Found what I wanted (samples in office area), picked what I wanted and the gentleman at the desk where I paid for it was very pleasant, efficient, and informative. I got to pick the exact rocks I wanted out in yard, put them in bucket, and left easy enough! read more

I had a great experience at LH Voss. My boyfriend and I decided to put artificial turf in our back yard ourselves. I can say with certainty that if you are thinking of doing it yourself you should really think about just paying some one. It was so much work. However I came into Voss with a plan after a ton of research and the women at the front desk was so helpful. Highly recommend IF you've done your research and you have a plan of action. They are a supply so they are not going to have time to hold your hand if you show up unprepared read more

This once was a good place to go for your average home owner. SITEONE took over and it is Corporate Stupidity. Now they have insane rules. I cant buy less than a 1/4 yard - I MUST HAVE A (work/beater)TRUCK - wont let me bag 30each round rocks for my SUV. The place is now useless to many. read more

They do inventory during business hours. On a Friday before the weekend. You just lost a customer. There are a lot of other landscape supply companies around. I guess you don't need my $3200. Maybe I'm a small buyer, and it doesn't matter to them. But when times get tough I won't be your "small" customer. Thoroughly disappointed. read more

Great to have one of these places right in my backyard. Convenient for picking up a rock for my aquarium or upgrading my landscape. Recently redid my front yard with black lava rock and some massive Moss accent pieces. What's special about this place? Candy at the front desk. Nice touch to help sweeten manual labor. Love it when they carry Jolly Ranchers. Internal pond displays. One day when I've got money to burn, I'll get something similar. Great options. Didn't know what I had until I compared it to other places. What's not to love? The limited hours. Closed on Sundays and they close relatively early most days. Can't blame them. I'm not their average customer. read more

Its almost like they don't want to sell you anything. Went two times within 3 days. I. asked people at counter for help and they wanted no part, told me to go outside. after wandering aimlessly and asking looking for help for 15 min, left. Came back another day, exact same thing. front people say go in back, back people drive forklifts right by you like you are a ghost. not worth the time. read more

Great selection of landscaping boulders and supplies and even better customer service. Even when they are busy, they are organized. I have worked with other companies in East Bay and have had to waste too much time just waiting to place an order. Not at Siteone! Staff is knowledgeable and yard is clean and easy to get in and out. The manager Jason keeps things running efficiently and great staff. The best. read more

Good service, timely delivery, fair prices. We order material from LH Voss frequently to prepare properties for sale. We have been happy with the variety of mulch and other products available, the willingness to take orders over the phone and the fact that they have never missed a delivery date! We are loyal customers! read more

Knowledgeable and helpful staff. There were a lot of contractors coming in and out placing straight forward orders (which confirmed I was at the right place for good pricing and quality). Not being a landscape contractor by trade myself, I needed a bit more hand holding/help figuring out what I needed and they took the time to help me finalize my order and explain the differences in the various options available along with different shipping options. Delivery dump truck driver was also a pro. She showed up exactly on time, confirmed the dump site with me and drove that truck like it was part of her own skin. Also happy to support a local business in the world of big box stores. read more

We had a wonderful experience at LH Voss. The staff is very professional, gives tips and recommendations, they listen to your requirements and are extremely professional. We had mulch/bark for our backyard, the delivery fee is reasonably priced and reliable. read more

This place is the Best! The day before I had gone to 3 other landscape yards in the Tri Valley. I walked around for pretty long looking at all their minimal selections but not once did anyone approach me to ask if I needed help. So I thought coming LH Voss was going to be the same experience.. I was not optimistic but thought why not give it a shot. I couldn't have been so wrong. They had a huge selection! Way more than Morgan's (at least for rocks). Also as I was aimlessly walking looking for some materials, One of the workers named Andrew who was operating the heavy loading machine stopped and asked me if I needed help. He spent time and even gave me his phone number in case I had any questions to just text or call him. Front desk was super professional. Because I didn't have a truck, I was shoveling it into my minivan with a small pointer shovel I had and it was painstakingly slow so another employee asked if I wanted to use their shovel which saved me so much time and energy. Another worker who saw that I was scooping a whole lotta rocks came by and gave me suggestions on what I could've done or can do in the future to make my experience less difficult. Just a bunch of friendly, helpful, professional guys at this yard, whereas when I was at other places, not a ghost in sight. This is the only place I will be going to get my landscaping materials and the only place I would refer to anybody I know. Thanks LH Voss! read more

We have been landscaping our front yard ourselves and have made many trips to LH Voss to select and buy boulders. The yard guys and the office staff have been great. I could take rock up to 550 lbs on my trailer, but when we fell in love with a 2200 lb boulder, we had it delivered. We were given a 2 hr window, but 10-15 minutes into the window, the delivery driver called saying he was leaving the yard and would arrive in 15-20 minutes. He did and forklifted the boulders into place (1200 lbs and 2200 lbs). I told him he could drive on our new side driveway, but he asked how old it was and when I said 2 months, he said he would find another path. Amazing consideration! We had used LH Voss before and were happy. This time was much more extensive and they really all acted like Voss is a family owned and run business. Haven't any idea if it is, but everyone we dealt with was exceptionally friendly and professional acting. And their pricing seems more than fair. Will definitely use them again if we need more rock! read more

So I see the comments. The way I see it, this is a rock house - not a five star restaurant. Wake up people. Get real. My experience was quite positive. I've had two truck loads delivered so far with some final mulch and rock to be ordered next week. The drivers have been amazing - dumping the rock right where I needed it with no attitude ever. They backed up into my backyard, with 6 inch fence clearance on each side of the dump truck. No issues. I do wish they had a pricing sheet of some sort as that would've helped my process (and family discussions on what to buy). But it all worked out. I would do 4.5 stars but I need to round up. read more

Do landscape material companies train salespeople to be rude? Maybe it is a requirement to work there. We just came back from there and I'm sure they will remember us after reading this review. Just like another reviewer mentioned below, the salesperson at the counter is about as un-friendly as they come. I was there on another occasion a week ago to look at materials and he was in a bad mood then, so perhaps he just isn't happy about his life or business. Seems we are not the only people with this opinion. Fortunately, the people working in the yard were nice and helpful, but have inaccurate information. This is the bosses fault, not the employee's fault, but I bet the boss will yell at them anyway because he is never wrong (so he thinks). However, our biggest problem is the way they price things. We were looking to get a truck load of mahogany bark and the sign posted beside it read $49 per yard. While talking to a helper out in the yard, he says the price changed a couple of YEARS ago and it is now $52. Geez if it change 2 years ago, why not change the sign? Then we go inside and talked to grumpy. He says the price changed 2 WEEKS ago, not two years ago and the price is now $55. So why can't these people get their story straight and communicate. Even if it was changed 2 weeks ago, they should have changed the sign right away. Based on the attitude, I'm thinking they purposely do this to mislead people. Three years ago was the last time we bought bark there and they were much friendlier and even gave us a 10% CSAA discount. Clearly we will never go there again and if you do, don't say I didn't warn you about the attitude and pricing. They act like they are doing you a favor to sell you material at secretly inflated prices. May 2015 and I'm adding this update. We finally went to Home Depot and bought the same brown bark in 2 Cu Ft. bags. It took a lot of bags since 27 bags = about 1 cubic yard; however, after doing it this way, we much prefer doing it in bags instead of having a big truck dump it in our driveway and then having to clean up the mess afterward. Delivery of the bags was cheaper than delivery cost from Voss. The biggest advantage is that the cost was 60% of the price so on our project we saved over $200 !!! Also, it was a lot easier carrying the bags to the location where we wanted to spread the material instead of having to put it in a wheel barrow and getting it to difficult hillside locations. Now I don't know why I was stupid enough to ever consider having to buy it in bulk. The HD process was a lot simpler and cheaper. read more

We purchased stone veneer for a home project. We were told they would check stock from supplier following Monday and give us a call. Unfortunately they did not have any in stock and had no clue when they would receive any if at all. They did give us a refund. +3 stars because the prices are much less than home depot, so worth returning for other products read more

They analyzed my needs for new topsoil for my new garden planter and also helped me figure out how much I needed. They mixed two types of soil for me and dumped it precisely where I wanted it in my driveway. Everyone was helpful and kind from the salespeople to the delivery guy. They were on time and their prices were reasonable. I definitely recommend this company for landscaping needs for local homeowners. The people at Armstrong Nursery recommended I go here for my planter and they were right on with this suggestion. read more

This place is exactly as Yelp describes a three star review: A-OK. The people who work here are not friendly, but I was there to buy a truck load of rocks so I didn't care much about friendliness. Truth be told, the guys here are not unfriendly, and these days I actually prefer the stoic workers at Voss to the faux cheerful people at other retail places. So I walked in, told the sales guy what I was looking for, he showed me the samples and I picked out the type of rock I needed. 5 minutes from walking in to having receipt in hand...I pulled my truck around to the rock yard and the front loader operator silently loaded up my truck and I was gone. A total of about 10 minutes from parking to leaving with a loaded truck. I wish more businesses were this efficient. Again, if you like to shmooze and get your butt kissed by salespeople, this isn't your place. The prices are ok and the service is fast and the quality is decent. A-OK. read more

Just a good honest company that gives you the facts you need to do the job. Very helpful in loading your car or truck.

Great place to go to!! They have a great selection of landscaping stones. They were so helpful and nice to my fiancee who doesn't know anything about landscaping stones. She was only looking for stones for our wedding and these guys went above and beyond for her. Great customer service, which makes this a great place to get landscaping materials. We would come here again! read more

The compost I got from them was 10% plastic/glass. The dirtiest compost I've ever seen, and it was small pieces of plastic so I couldn't even sieve them out. I tried to do it by hand and ended up with a 2 gallon bucket of plastic pieces after going through a garden bed's worth of compost. Just horrible. read more

Great selection! Great pricing! Great customer service!!! Thank you Victor and all other staff for your knowledge and help!

I was referred here by a friend and they are great to work with and the mulch they delivered was great.

Voss was easy to work with for our project. We installed turf in our front yard and ordered our base rock from Voss. They offered and recommended a few options and had reasonable prices. Their office staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The delivery response time was great. The delivery man was amazing! He was able to carefully dump the rock right in the middle of our yard and save us from hauling it across the driveway. Highly recommend Voss and will use them again if ever we have a need. read more

I went to LH Voss today looking for rock to match existing rock in my back yard. I was the only one in the facility. I showed the gentleman at the front desk a picture of the rocks in my yard. He told me to go outside and look for the rock. When I walked outside I saw an employee and asked to be directed to the rocks. He pointed to 2 different sections. Horrible customer customer. I walked out and will never return read more

I bought 2 bags of Noiyo cobble to finish my project. What they gave me was Lodi ! So I brought it back. They offered no apologies and made me load my truck while the guy just sat on the fork lift! We got a lot of their weed blocks. They told us they're the best and we paid more than we should have. Not 4 months passed weed is growing out of them. They don't work at all. I didn't even know this place existed but it was a gold mine find. They have a large variety of item and the customer service was outstanding. I believe I asked the salesman million questions and he was helpful each time. We have been to LH Voss Materials several times now and have found them most helpful. We told them what we would like to get accomplished and they gave us advice and how much we would need of compost and pavers. We found them friendly and very helpful. I have no complaint's about L.H. Voss and my wife and I have bought from this landscaping business a few time's already. As you know California is in a drought, I worked very hard to keep my front lawn green during the hot summer month's. Well I had to let the grass die and so with that my wife and I took out the dead lawn and started landscaping the front yard. We went to L.H. Voss and purchased several rock's and some tan bark. Since I had a truck I had the tan bark put in the bed of my truck. We also purchased a huge 900# rock and had that delivered to our home. The rock was delivered and the employee from L.H. Voss placed the rock in the corner of our yard near the garage and driveway. No problem what so ever. Our home is a corner lot and the front yard is divided by the walkway leading up to the front door. Anyway we started doing the other section of our front yard and had gone back in summer 2015 and purchased some more rock, and some of the rocks had to be delivered to our home. This went smoothly and the rock was placed in the spot we had chosen by the delivery guy without issue. With that said I will do business with them again as we need to finish the other section of our front yard. We have also added drought tolerant plants and with the rock look's more natural. Less work trying to keep up my lawn and using less water in the process. read more

went in gentleman at desk was a pleasure to talk with. Ordered 3 yards of stone was delivered same day! can't ask for more

This is the best place ever! They are very helpful and really know there stuff. I went to get some moss rocks and Bob helped me pick out some really nice looking boulders. The prices were less the the other stores near by. I couldn't believe all the other materials in there showroom, along with the waterfall features, this place was even less expensive then Home Depot and they sell rocks by the bag. And soil if your planting a garden. You have to see it to believe it. read more

worst place in the area, price is more than double vs other store. sales is not very friendly, or helpful. never go back.

Got some soil here. I appreciate how they don't charge extra for smaller orders (could only fit half a yard in my truck). Soil seemed to be of better quality than obtained elsewhere. Also provided helpful information on possible variation in rock colors from one time to another, depending on the seam that was being mined. read more
