This review is specifically about Gianna. I came in asking about a specific flower and had a few basic questions since I wasn't familiar with it. I asked if it was a tree, bush, plant, or flower, how long it usually takes to get in stock, and if she could tell me anything about it. Instead of getting help, I was met with constant interruptions and one word answers like, "Nope," or "I don't know." It honestly felt like she couldn't wait to get rid of me. Her tone, facial expressions, and overall attitude came across as irritated from the second I started talking. She looked visibly angry, like she was annoyed that I even asked a question. It was one of the most uncomfortable customer service interactions I've had. So rude and unpleasant and unprofessional. I think her conversation and chit chatting with her coworkers was more important. I've spent a lot of money at this nursery over the years, and I drove out expecting knowledgeable, friendly service. Instead, I was treated with disrespect. The only reason I didn't say more in the moment was because I was with my wife and didn't want to make a scene. If interacting with customers makes you that miserable, customer service probably isn't the right position. One employee's attitude is enough to lose loyal customers, and that's exactly what happened today. I won't be coming back due to Gianna. It's honestly sad and I'm genuinely embarrassed for you. Nice local nursery. They have an outdoor section with many plant varieties that you can peruse. The indoor plant section is also pretty robust. I came in to mainly get soil to repot my plants, they didn't have smaller bags of perlite weirdly. Only had to large bag. I circled around a couple times and no one offered to help which was odd. Whenever I go to Alden Lane there's always at least 2-3 employees who ask if I need help, even in a larger space like that they seek you out. read more

Came here to check out their foliage and see if they carried any carnivore plants. They have ample parking. Pretty big nursery than others in the area. They do have quite a few varieties of succulents and other plants. They also do have a few good leafy indoor and outdoor plants. No carnivores tho. And, I did notice that some of the items are a bit pricey compared to other locations. Including their pots and accessories. They do have a little section of marked down/clearance plants. But nothing fancied me. Didn't really find anything while I was there, but I plan to come back maybe next season. read more

Many nurseries do not have a large variety of indoor plants, but I remember SummerWinds in Cupertino had a pretty large variety. Now there's a SummerWinds in Dublin, which is more convenient for me. This location has an even larger variety of indoor plants, probably the best I've found so far in the East Bay. My visit was during the dead of winter (January) so I wasn't expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised to see a pretty good selection of roses, herbs, succulents, grasses, and evergreens in their outdoor area. The indoor plants were amazing. There were so many unique and rare plants I've never seen before. They have quite a few rare philodendron varieties that range from about $80 - $180 for a 4" - 6" pot (I think). Too rich for me. There was a pothos plant that had leaves about the size of my hand. I had no idea they can grow so big. I saw this one plant that had leaves that curled (hoya carnosa compacta) and was tempted to get it, but didn't want to risk killing such a unique plant. They also had some plants that were mounted on a wood board - so interesting! In the end, I bought 3 common house plants that I'm familiar with and know how to grow. I really enjoyed "window shopping" and seeing all the unique plants. Can't wait to return in the spring/summer to see what else they have. read more

What a gem in Dublin! SummerWinds is right on San Ramon road and at a busy intersection so you can't miss it. Came here on a Saturday morning and it was not busy at all. Good size nursery and it has a huge selection of plants, succulents, flowers, fruit trees, etc. Prices are fairly reasonable. I purchased a few different varieties of salvia (autumn sage) plants and prices ranged between $8-13. The workers were so knowledgeable and helpful in explaining how to care for the plants. Will come back again to add more plants and flowers to my garden! read more

I was a bit concerned when I heard that Armstrong Nursery was changing to Summerwinds a couple years ago. However, my fears were unfounded. Nothing really has changed for the worse. The plant selection and quality are still the best in the area, and all the employees are so friendly and helpful. My go to place for buying strawberry plants. This was such a beautiful nursery! There was such a big variety of plants - every plant that I passed bay were super healthy looking and employees take such great care of them. Didn't see a single plant that was wilted. I would say it's a little bit on the expensive side, but expect a great healthy plant nonetheless. Would go here again! read more

We were in the area and decided to stop by. I like that there was a lot of parking. There were a lot of plants outside it's nice and spacious. Instead they have a lot of gardening tools . They also had a lot of garden decorations. They have a lot of seeds and they had a sack of large flower seeds. Overall a cute store definitely worth checking out. read more

Awesome place with very helpful staff. We walked in and we were looking to get few plants for our front yard. We worked with Lindsay and she was super nice, professional and very knowledgeable. She helped my wife and I to select few plants and she answered all of our questions. Just wanted to thank Lindsay for all her support today. Just popped in to grab a few things and ask some gardening questions. There were five people standing at the registers talking and ignoring everyone around them. I was in full view of them the entire time I was there. Never greeted, never asked if I needed anything. This is the third time I've had this experience here and my mom has had the same complaint with this nursery. So done! There are better nurseries in the area that embrace customer service. I would give zero star if I can. This is absolute fraud place. 4 months back, spent around 900$ to buy around 25 plants and all fertilizers and manure as staff recommended. Used professional landscape company to install plants, drip system, fertilizers and recommendation. Some plants died and some are not healthy When I went to buy, the store manager was nice and said they will replace if any plants if they die as long as we have receipt. 1st visit - went to store manager and shown receipt and asked what is the store policy to replace dead plants. Store manager said bring photos and receipt. 2nd visit - went to store manager and showed 4 dead plant photos and receipt. Store manager said may be it did not have enough water. We had drip system and it was raining mostly in last few months. He agreed to replace them if we bring died plants back. They are dead and only last stems are there. He insisted he still needs them. 3rd visit - took dead plants stems, photos and receipt. Store said go and find dead plants and bring them to give new ones. As they are not there anymore, tried to find same or similar ones at exact price value. Spent 1 hour to find 4 plants. Store person said the plants are not from same manufacturer and even if they are of same type and same price, they will not change. He told me to come back after 10 days so that I can talk to manager. I told them this is unacceptable as this is the 3rd time I am coming and the plants that I bought 4 months back are not in stock anymore. He said he cannot do anything and told to come back after 10 days. Other employees gang up and start saying this is how the store works and they were unwilling to give replacement. When I got angry and raise voice, the store guy said he would have given it if I did not raise voice and now he cannot do it anymore. As long as I was requesting, he could not do it. When I was angry, he could do it but their ego was hurt. This is absolute fraud place. I regret I spent 900$ around and got fooled. False warranties and they were not willing to replace dead 4 plants out of 25 though I had all proofs and pics and hardly 4 months back. I don't think places like this deserve any business. If this is how you want to run business by cheating and tricking with false warranties, good luck! read more

Drove over to SummerWinds today with my dog Nala for an afternoon visit to find some perennials to replace some open space in my flower garden. As usual it was worth the trip and I found 10 beautiful perennials to add to the garden. I always appreciate the color, layout, and variety. This location definitely has the most selections of rare plants in Bay Area. I've see silver sword, philo Florida, syngonium albo and all kinds of philodendron and Hoya here. Good to look and browse, but the price point is high. Philo fuzzy at lowes are around $10 but here is $34.99, same with other plants as well. read more

Told me they had what I needed and to ask for Matt or Elizabeth, so I headed over. I'm so glad I did! What a wonderful nursery! I've been an ardent gardener for over a decade and appreciate a well-stocked nursery and knowledgable help. Matt took his time to help me create gorgeous pots, as well as find me some stand-alone knockouts. He was very friendly-- I felt like I was talking with a gardening buddy from way back. I came here when it was Armstrongs Nursery about a year ago and Geoffrey helped me with getting some awesome soil. I recently came now that they are summerwinds and tried to ask one of the older gentleman there for some assistance and he was very short with me as though he didn't have time, it was in the early morning and not busy, so I was bummed he sort of disregarded me. As I was looking around I saw a familiar face and it was Geoffrey. He made my day yet again! He was busy putting something together, he totally dropped what he was doing to assist me. As I remembered the last time I saw him, he was very funny and helpful. He knows his stuff and and knows gardening! He recommended a shrub when I was giving him some feedback on what I was looking for and gave me some great tips. SummerWinds is the best of the "smaller" nurseries in the entire area - even though it's plenty large for most uses. Prices are comparable to the other nurseries in the area while the selection is superior. For larger nurseries, #1 = Half Moon Bay Nursery; #2 = Alden Lanes in Livermore. read more
