Following up on the superb kitchen cabinet remodel work that Next Level Custom Woodworking did for us a number of years ago, my wife and I recently commissioned them to reimagine our dated family room mantle and entertainment wall. The project scope included reengineering our old, stucco fireplace mantle and adding complementary wall paneling. The team also installed crown molding throughout our family room and kitchen spaces and new baseboard throughout our first floor. Found Brandon/Next Level just from searching online for custom carpentry near me. My wife and I had a drawing of custom cabinets that we wanted built and Brandon executed! Brandon was very easy to communicate with over the phone and by text and he came to the house multiple times to verify measurements before the actual install. He also had us over at his shop to confirm materials and paint/stain color. Fun to see the working space and tools! A very delayed review. Next Level did an amazing job on refinishing our 25 yr old oak cabinets. Their detailed process sanded, puttied, painting resulted in cabinets that feel like silk! Brandon has a great design eye, so recommended molding on island end caps. They designed woodwork molding to incase window. We were so impressed that we tore down our brick fireplace and they custom built a mantle and storage cabinets. Also a large cap molding to go over the slider woven woods. We couldn't stop there so they built a storage bench in our nook alcove. Brandon, Jesse and team are true craftsmen/artist absolutely recommend them. We hired Next Level to reface our kitchen cabinets (paint the cabinet boxes, make new doors and drawers, etc.). They did an absolutely phenomenal job. Each door is made by Next Level, not ordered from a catalog. They made a great suggestion to include a framed-out magnet board next to our fridge to act as "command central". They built up one of the cabinets to house our new range top. They also made 2 pull-out shelves for our pots. Our 17-year-old built-in refrigerator/freezer needed replacing and we were able to transfer the cabinet panels from old unit to the new one. Only one caveat - we had to have the upper grille panel cut horizontally by one inch to fit the new unit. I searched for local carpenters, cabinetmakers, etc., and called several, who either didn't do this type of work, or were not interested in a small job like this. One vendor referred me to Brandon of Next Level, and the Yelp reviews looked positive. Brandon invited us to his Livermore shop, which was very clean and well set up. Even though he had a major job he was preparing for, he took the time to carefully trim the panel and finish the cut edge. His price was quite reasonable. I was also impressed with the work he was doing preparing for the trim on a large new home. We will approach him when we have a larger remodeling job. read more

Horrific experience. I started with Next Level to build a custom dining room table but they never delivered. Six months passed by before I pulled the project from Brandon. I did get the raw lumber and had someone else create a masterpiece. The problem is that I was ripped off. I paid a $3000 deposit for $1100 worth of wood. My contract was a handshake based on honesty. This is a dishonest individual. Get a written contract and only give a 10% deposit. The Next Level is a lower level than what you'd expect. Brandon's response is nothing less than expected but, most unfortunately, it is the complete and honest truth. Consumer beware. read more

If you can see what I see in my kitchen, you would be a 49er type fan of Brandon and his crew (Jesse, Paul, & Cornilio). A few weeks ago my wife and I were staring at some very sorry looking oak cabinets (25 years of use and builder grade materials will do that ). Now that we are semi-retired, we had even more time to stare at the yellowing wood. It was time to do something. I am pleased to be able to say that my wife's often repeated "I hate the look of these cabinets" has now been replaced by "My kitchen looks like a showroom". Brandon's down home friendliness is matched by his woodworking expertise. He also proved to be an invaluable "interior design consultant" in helping us choose both the right color for the cabinets along with complementary pull and knob hardware to match our granite, wall colors, and appliances. Aside from the final result, I am still in awe of the workmanship and the techniques that were utilized. The cuts of the 1/4" wood used as facing were surreal in their accuracy. The 'prep' for each of 5 coats of paint was almost surgical as the guys used halogen lamps to inspect every inch of the cabinet surface for blemishes. The painting was performed with the room tented, a high volume low pressure air gun (minimize overspray)' and the creation of negative pressure to the outdoors to create an impeccably even coating. The doors are made of solid maple and were hung with the most advanced hinges (three way adjustments and soft close technology ... we no longer can hear the banging of cabinets when someone is raiding the pantry at night). I can attest that the pictures of the Next Level "products" on the web site are accurate and not photoshopped. I have my own pictures to prove it. Nice to be so proud of a kitchen that you want to send everyone pictures. read more

Recently had are kitchen refaced with Next Level. Brandon and Jesse did a fantastic job!! As you can see from the pictures we had 1980's Oak cabinets. Brandon and Jesse transformed our outdated kitchen cabinets into a showroom by replaceing all our draws and doors and painting it off white. Both Brandon and Jesse do amazing wood work, so we added several custom details. They added molding around the front of our bar area which gave it a grand appearance. They ripped out our kitchen desk and rebuilt it from scratch, then added a beautiful custom walnut top. They extended the cabinets around the refrigerator to give it a built-in look. They installed glass inserts on some of the cabinet doors. They rebuild new shelves in our upper cabinets and installed sliding shelves in our pantry. Brandon and Jesse are very professional and worked very hard to stay on schedule. The paint work is outstanding; they used professional paint and sprayed each area multiple times to which resulted in a smooth hard finish. A kitchen remodel can be very overwhelming with all the decision that have to be made. Due to their vast experience, they would offer options and ideas to help with those decisions. Brandon and Jesse are true craftsmen and perfectionist which is evidenced in the finished product. I would without a doubt recommend Brandon and Next Level. Working with him was a positive experience from start to finish. The scope of the work in my house included the painting of cabinets,`painting of walls, installation of baseboards throughout my house, and several wood trimming projects. And wood trimming projects, is really an understatement, he transformed a drab and boring drywalled island into a gorgeous work of art, with great detailed moldings. I purchased two large dressers at a local consignment store with the idea of painting them myself in a high gloss white finish. It didn't take long after I started that my vision wasn't going to work due to the labor and my lack of expertise. I looked on 'Yelp" to find someone in my area who could bring my vision to life. After reading the review about 'next level" woodworking I called and spoke to Brandon who came to my house to look over the dressers. I told him what I wanted and he immediately knew what they needed . I was nervous that he could make them look like the designer vision I had in my head.
