I visited this Walgreens for a last minute pharmacy need. This review is solely focused on the pharmacy. Their staff was helpful on the phone and filled the order fairly fast. Upon arrival, this Walgreens felt very tired and hectic. The pharmacy had piles of filled prescriptions sitting in boxes that they were frantically shuffling through to find everyone's orders. It felt like they could use twice as much inventory space and staff to keep it all afloat. I really felt for them. They were certainly hustling. read more

This is hands down the most poorly run pharmacy around. They've "lost" medications after they've filled prescriptions, sharps are always full and they can never take your drop offs, and the gentleman that works there is always grumpy and in a bad mood. He barely even acknowledges your presence. It would be great to see them make improvements here, it's always such a miserable experience. read more

We have been to this location numerous times over the years on business trips. We usually get soda and bottled water here. Like other similar businesses in the area (e.g., CVS) we have been there while they were robbed as the area has declined even more since the pandemic. Fortunately, the robberies were shoplifting and not armed for the registers. At least in this last visit they had a security guard in the store again who was not there during the last robbery. They are usually well stocked for regular items and not crowed in the evenings when we go. If you need some items on a trip or while working downtown this is a good place to try, but just be careful of the homeless and stay out of the way of shoplifters. read more

I was in the city for a meeting and felt like I was fighting something and decided to vitamin and mineral up and that brought me to this location. I got some Zicam, zinc lozenges and mineral water. It's on the smaller side as you would expect from a downtown location but they had everything. I am bumping up a star for them just being open despite all the closures in the area. read more

This pharmacy is a nightmare. The pharmacist is extremely rude and dismissive. The line is always extremely long and they do not have enough people to help. They need to be more organized, they do not have the capacity needed to serve their community. If you call, expect to be on hold for at least 20 minutes and then most likely hung up on. If you can go anywhere else to pick up your medication, I recommend you do so. read more

Even though they tell you a rx will be ready at a certain date and time, it never is. The customer goes to the window, and they tell you the rx will be ready in 15 minutes. Always like this. So they don't fill the rx until you arrive ,meaning you have to wait on line, then wait again while they fill it. It is bad customer service and wastes customer's time. read more

This review is for the Pharmacy. The store itself is fine. The pharmacy staff are completely incompetent. I've never had so much trouble getting subscriptions delivered. If you pay for same day delivery or 1-2 business day delivery there is a good chance your Rx will not ship. They wont call you, they wont inform you that it isn't going to be shipped. If you want a Rx go and pick it up. The staff are slow and some of them have a very hard time understanding English. I wish we had more options. The other Walgreens and CVS stores that were closer to me had much better service. read more

The line was long. With only one cashier open. She finally decided to call for backup. Two workers casually stroll to their registers taking their time like they're not happy & don't care. Must taken them 5 mins to finally open. LOL. It's evident that they don't like their jobs. They're complaining openly in their own native languages... LOL. An older Caucasian woman worker situated behind the cosmetic desk across from the entrance door finally decided to join the fun. While we're all waiting for our turn in the main line, she was willing to help a group of tourist who approached her directly, cutting in front of all of us. She didn't bother to stand up & call and check for the next person waiting forever. When confronted on why she allowed the cutting & not called the next person, she responded multiple times aloud in broken English as if to defend herself "it's not my job" & implied that her job was only to "sit" behind that cosmetic desk. LOL. Her English wad really BAD, with a heavy Russian/European type accent. Our guess was that she's just another one of those disgruntled walgreens worker getting upset that she got called to open up after getting too comfortable w/ that cushy position basically sitting there doing minimal work. LOL. With that kinda attitude, poor English, customer services, & common sense skills/abilities, she's even lucky to be employed at all. Management needs to tell her: GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER OR GET THE FCK OUT!!! read more

Dear Walgreens at First and Mission, I would love to continue to be one of your regular customers, but I'm going to need you to stop treating your customers like criminals. I totally understand that you're in a tough location for shoplifting and want to minimize your risk. I've put up with it for a few years, and made plenty of excuses for you during the pandemic, but today felt like the end of the road. I picked up a prescription and some over-the counter medicine for an ear ache. This is relevant because after leaving the checkout and trying to exit the store, my medication packaging set the alarm off. It was loud. Did I mention that I was at the pharmacy because of an ear ache? Yeah, that alarm felt like a hot skewer to the ear drum. The security guide shooed me back to the register where the clerk explained that their demagnetizing pads didn't work. I was told that I could leave the store, the alarm would sound again, and I could ignore it. The security guard said, "You're good." Nobody apologized for the inconvenience, nor the embarrassment. I'm writing today to tell you that, no, I am most certainly not feeling "good." Walgreens at First and Mission, fix your equipment and apologize to your customers when things go sideways. I understand that this is an urban area in difficult times, but today you crossed a line and I'm going to start sending my prescriptions elsewhere. We had a shot at a great store-and-customer long-term relationship, but it's just not working out any more. It's not me, it's you. read more

I like it because it's near my place and I can go there in a pinch for basic toiletries, makeup and pharmacy needs. I guess I'm lucky - haven't experienced the bad service like the other yelpers. I stay away from buying prepared food or yogurt. I go to this pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions and flu shot and have never had any issues. I came here in a zombied out state when I got sick and stocked up on my cold medicine. This is smaller than other Walgreens so they don't have everything. I had to buy emergency cat food and had to go to the one on Sansome. They also have larger Walgreens on Spear and Front. read more

I used to go to this Walgreens quite a bit when I would head over to the old Transbay Terminal to catch SamTrans to go to work in San Mateo County. I decided to stop by here some time last week to see if this place had changed much. I really didn't notice any major changes, it was still your typical Walgreens. The store seemed to be well stocked and the cashier was friendly. When I left the store after buying some snacks, I realized how great it is to still have a Walgreens in this part of the City. This Walgreens was on the list of pharmacies the Department of Public Health could FAX my prescription to. Going to third-world countries sometimes requires medication; in this case it was malaria pills. Don't want to bring home a nasty parasite, now, do we? And this Walgreens was also close to where I work these days. Right across the street from the Transbay Terminal, it's small and cramped. But that's just the impression I get because of all the inventory. This place is always busy, and I had been hesitant to try it. After all, there are so many Walgreens around town. When I got to the pharmacy in the back, I found the pharmacist was cheerful and helpful. I hadn't bought a prescription from Walgreens in years, but they still had my record in the database. She updated my record with my new address, and checked to see whether the prescription had been posted. She made sure I knew how to take the pills, and wished me a happy trip. When I came back for my wife's prescription a couple of days later it didn't faze her. She was still cheerful and helpful. I asked a clerk if they had penlight flashlights, and he said, "Yes, but they are on recall, so I can't sell you one." That was an odd answer, but I gave him credit for honesty. Walgreens has so much inventory, everywhere, that I can find what I want 90% of the time. read more

My boss came up to me before while I was talking the new guy in our firm, who is really really young. My boss asked if I needed anything from Walgreens. I said "Yeah, can you get me some tampons - the extra heavy flow kind, and some condoms - the Magnums, ribbed, and some of that KY warming gel?" The kid just looked at us. My boss replied "Ok, do you need batteries for your vibrator too?" I said "Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. I need them for the vibrator in my desk drawer. I'm all set for the vibrators at home." So, Walgreens is good for all that - especially when your boss is buying. And this Walgreens has some really nice and helpful employees. I think it's much better than the one on Bush and the one further down Mission, so if you need a Walgreens downtown, this one's a pretty safe bet. read more

This Walgreen's is on 1st & Mission directly across from the Transbay Terminal, there are lots of drifters that hang out in front of the store and *some* huge, fat homeless men that 'let it all hang out in back' that also frequent the front door. I like this Walgreen's particularly because the manager who is almost always there is awesome (wish I knew his name I could totally name drop and get some free cotton balls or something). During Halloween last year they were out of carving sets and he actually went outside the store to check to see if they had any left in the display case, for being there EVERYDAY this guy goes out of his way on a dime, I've seen him do it for other people too. He should definitely be the nice, smiling sales rep on the Walgreen's commercials and then right behind him should be that Febreze lady following people around the store making sure everything smells nice. read more

And it's right at the front when you enter the store. The pistachio and blue bottle flavors are a must try! The entertainment factor alone is worth two stars. Situated on the corner of 1st and Mission with a multitude of bus stops (SF Muni, SamTrans, GGTransit) and the Transbay Terminal across the street. Heck, it's like a mini-circus all day long. You have your homeless, your homies, your suits, your tourists, your skaters, your haters, your rip-off artists, well...gosh darn it, just every imaginable sort you can think of (and those you would rather not). Me, I go in for one thing...Clear Eyes. Yep, I suffer from extreme red-eye caused by an entire day of working on the computer. So, I go to Walgreens for sweet relief. Little did I know that relief is locked up and requires assistance from the manager, his/her delegate, to free my Clear Eyes from lockdown. No matter, I press the buzzer and johnny-on-the-spot appears someone to release the magic elixir so that my eyes don't look like I've just smoked two joints. Then in line I stand behind some delusional person who's ranting about something I can't make out. I just stare at him so he doesn't get all stupid on me before I can get back to work. These employees put up with way more shit than I have ever had to deal with in my entire career and they get paid minimum wage. They definitely get my respect. read more

don't know why, but one of the employees sprayed the hell out of all of the floors with an aerosol disinfectant throughout the entire store. The floor was still wet with it and she had to get a new can. My throat is literally burning from the scent and I started hiccuping from the chemicals. Someone began cleaning the floors with a buffer as I left 30 minutes before close. Is that really how you clean your floors? Guess what? They want to scan your drivers license when they fill a Rx. Not mandated by law, but a new company policy, oh goodie. What they won't tell you upfront that this is optional or that this data will be collected, stored with your purchase information and then sold to 3rd parties. Not much benefit to me or you, but just think of all the possibilities of your medical records are now voluntarily associated with your lifetime purchase history, available for purchase. "I SEE PEE PEE" This is my neighborhood Walgreens so I am in here now and then buying things like shampoo, conditioner, and picking up medicine. Sometimes, someone will come on the intercom and yell "I SEE PEE PEE!" When I first heard it, it was pretty funny. I recently heard someone else say it on the intercom though and they are really saying "I SEE 3 P." I think they mean there are 3 people in line and that someone has to come to the front and open up a cash register. It was funnier when I thought they were saying "I SEE PEE PEE." Otherwise, this Walgreens is OK. It's in the Financial District so it's closed on weekends and if you need the pharmacy after 6:30pm, you're going to have to go to the Castro location. The pharmacy staff here always get the job done though. One time, I called in advance and they stayed open an extra 5 minutes as I was running my ass off to get to them before they closed for the rest of the weekend. I need my drugs!! read more

I was looking for a place that sells salad dressings yesterday and decided to stop here. They had a couple types,your standard ranch of course, but with a couple options. There was honey mustard and Caesar but I would think being in San Francisco that the options would be far greater and a little more healthy. The check out process was quick but the roped off line to wait was small and cramped near an aisle cap. I'll return if I need a quick card but not for food items. read more

Come early in the morning (before 10am) and you'll be surprised to find a few parking meters free. What was awesome, was this guy who was getting rid of a bunch of month overdue beverages. He offered us to take it all. Since he said it was going to just get tossed, we took it all and it saved me a trip to the grocery store for beverages. Yeah! The ultimate reason why we came here, was to get some passport photos, which took a total of 20 minutes for two sets of two. It's pretty expensive if you ask me. Some places, you can get four for the price of ten. That's why you should not come here when you are in a rush... Plus, ff you care about how your photo looks, do not come here for your passport photos. It's over-exposed and on top of the semi-glossed paper, it doesn't look so nice. Try CVS, the quality of the photos are way better and look for coupons, because they usually have them for two dollars off. read more
