I never thought I'd write a 5 star review for a pharmacy, but this one deserves it. First, there are never more than 3 people in line. Also, I don't use insurance (I use goodRx), which means it's just a note on my file that the pharmacist has to check before filling my prescription. My old pharmacy Walgreen's, I can 100000% guarantee that they would NEVER get this right. This CVS **always** gets it right. They affirmatively offered 3 month refills without me asking. Nope....We were passing by and I was looking for travel size lotions and hair products. I saw none of those. And what I did see in larger size products, confirmed that I am not buying anything here that I can't buy in Costco or Amazon for a third of the price. EVERYTHING IS LOCKED UP. Okay, I get it. Theft. But that doesn't mean that I dont like being able to touch and compare products without the hassle of calling for someone. The store is clean, fairly well organized but still not organized in a way that I can quickly find what I am looking for. I never did find travel size products but I didn't ask either. Leaving 5 stars purely for the staff, not for the greedy corporation that is CVS. If any CVS big wig reads this thinking y'all deserve a pat on the back: absolutely not, the changes you have made to the Pharmacy Phones in the last 6 months are TERRIBLE, greedy, just flat out DUMB. I hope whoever implemented this change stubs their toe every time they get out of bed and get shampoo in their eyes every time they shower, not to mention a few other ideas (*paging Luigi*). Did you know CVS has donated millions to a 501c4 which actively lobbies against Medicare for All, other public options? AKA CVS doesn't want you healthy, they want you paying them hand over fist for medications for which our neighbors to the north and south pay pennies on the dollar. CVS is also being sued by the FTC Looking at some of these low star reviews is COMICAL. Like, Laura L.: you waited until the very last minute to try to pick up an Rx and are upset they closed on time? And you're upset this is the closest pharmacy, as if this store controls the openings/closings of other pharmacies across the city? Are you aware brick and mortar retail across the board is shifting? Maybe you should figure out if your insurance provides mail order services so you can get your meds straight to your door? Or Nicole T.: "it's really horrible customer service and support. It's really horrible- like should not be open horrible!" Okay... what specifically about it is horrible? CVS doesn't pay for enough enough staff to be at your every beck and call? Ma'am. You think the employees have any say in staffing levels?? These people are making minimum wage, trying to get by, verbally and sometimes physically abused by those entering the store with bad intentions. Or Star H.: "Staff is not friendly, store seems to be disorganized and you don't find things that you usually find at CVS." Again. Ma'am! Wah wah, they didn't greet you with cheer. Are you tipping them?? Have you worked in this type of service industry role in a location such as this??? Highly doubt it with that review. Additionally, did you check online to see if the item you sought was stocked at the store before going there? Maybe do that next time? All y'all need to GET A GRIP on reality in 2025!!! I have t1d in addition to plenty of other things that go along with that lovely chronic illness, have had t1d for nearly 20yrs. Given I need to fill medications on the regular and will literally die within days without, I have WAY too much experience with corp pharmacies from SF, to the East AND South Bay, to Seattle, to Vegas, to Bakersfield, to DC, to many places in between (amazing how one can plan for everything and still manage to not have enough insulin, or your third CGM fails within 10 days once in a blue moon while away from home). One of my medications is special order (to the tune of $4k/mon without insurance, a med I have no choice in taking) which means it is prepared at an offsite facility and shipped to the store. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the precise timeline of delivery via the online system, but if I call (leave a VM with specific question, ask them to leave the answer on my VM when they call back) or go in store, they are able to look up more specifics. It usually doesn't take more than a week, and I've learned I need to be on top of ordering well before my bottle is near empty. Annoying, but fine, just a thing I gotta plan for. Another med, and a big annoyance thanks to CVS corporate's ineptitude, I have to actively call every month to ask them to fill it even though the Rx is sitting in their system. So again, I call, leave VM with specific info, ask them to leave any and all details on VM when they call back (not often can I answer when they call), and thankfully I can see in the system where the med is in filling process + eta for completion. Going back to my hatred for CVS corporate, there are so many things surrounding efficiency (for the staff, as well as customers) that could be tweaked ever so slightly to make the experience better for everyone, and instead of tapping customers to understand where their painpoints are, they have made so many wrong choices over the last year. I'm forced to use CVS because of my insurance and I'm grateful the pharmacy staff understand how important my medications are. They are partners in my care. It's a shame others don't take the time to slow down, realize we're all in this together, treat the pharmacists/techs with kindness and respect, and work *together* to solve whatever issue may be at hand. A lot of the negative reviews are because of greedy corporate decisions. Wake up, it's not the low level, minimum wage employees you have beef with, it's the gajillionaires at the top. read more

I have freaking had it with the pharmacy. The call agent that they have enforced here is not at all capable of bot-only interaction. I need to talk to a human being because this place keeps screwing up my refill schedule. It's happened every time I've had to refill this year. The last time I left, they were wanting to go home but they were not closed. I was like, "I'm gonna sit and wait five more minutes so you can put in the computer correctly so I can get it without having to sit in line for an hour again next time." I remember exactly who said, "Oh yeah, I'm totally gonna remember. I'm like, 'Really, are you sure you're going to remember?' 'Oh, yep, we got it.'" I knew that they wouldn't remember. Of course they did not. Except now, three months later I am out because, as usual, they messed it up and didn't give me enough, when it's supposed to be four months when I get my prescription, I have the worst voice assistant from fucking hell. There's no way to get to a human being. If you demand to talk to a human being enough, all it will do is route you to hold music or an endlessly ringing phone. I mean, you can sit there for 30 minutes. It becomes clear that no one is there. It just shuffles you off to nowhere. I used to be able to leave at least a voicemail. I used to be able to at least talk to somebody. I'm not having this. Now I have to go sit in line for 2-3 times ,the first half hour only for them to figure out with the insurance that I actually am indeed on the slightly unusual medication schedule. They don't have it, of course. Then I have to go back and have to wait in line for a half hour again. There is never a time of day when the line is not at least 5 people deep. Morning, middle of the day, night, it doesn't matter. It's always packed. Don't tell me that you're going to remember because I know that you're not. I don't expect you to, but do not tell me that you'll remember it and then make us deal with shit like this. I am usually super nice and understanding, I know your jobs aren't easy. But yes, now I am truly pissed for being ushered out the door trying to fix what you well know is a persistent problem by you claiming you will "remember" it. I'm not leaving next time. And CVS needs to redo their awful agent. It's even worse than the last one!!! I understand that CVS is a chain that forces you to use this horrible new voice assistant that does not route anyone, ever to a human being. It will not. All it will do if you have to yell at it to route you to a human being is just route you to a number that does nothing but ring or nothing but play music for 30 minutes, and then you finally figure out there's no one's ever going to pick up. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this CVS. I came in last night and spent almost half an hour waiting, only to be told they didn't have my full prescription ready. I had to come back today, and once again they wasted my time before finally giving me what I needed. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this has happened here -- I've had similar issues before. Not my best experience at CVS pharmacies, but when I came here last week I was able to purchase a couple of items that I was looking for. Pharmacy wasn't very friendly but I got my medications. The location is not the best if you know San Francisco. But I think this is an important store for the neighborhood to provide the community with the necessary household items and medications. read more

While the scathing reviews about the pharmacy seem outlandish, I have nothing but great reviews about this store. Look how those negative reviews are written. That will tell you something. They are outlandish. Granted, I haven't used the pharmacy, but when I called the phone was answered right away. I was pleased to hear they offer printing services through a self-serve option. Sure beats having to go much further up Van Ness. She was also very pleasant on he phone. I always find great sales here at prices much lower than Walgreens. It is Impossible to contact this outlet at 700 Van Ness by phone. No matter how long you wait. All they do is tell you to install the App. Even in an emergency, if you cant use the web, and wait for 24 hours, or it isn't something they handle on the web, they just hide. I am disabled and cant get into the store without an expensive cab ride. This is DEPLORABLE SERVICE FOR WHAT SHOULD BE A MAJOR PART OF MY HEALTH CARE TEAM! I have honestly spent over five hours and three days to get ANY HUMAN to answer the phone including "front of the store" managers, or ANYONE IN THE PHARMACY, for any reason., and neither can my doctor. This has been going on for months, because my regular pharmacy has been out of one of my meds. NEVER will I attempt to use them again! Worst Service in SF! If they believe it's necessary to lock up every item, including the peanuts and candy, all employees should be able and prepared to open up these cases when requested. I rarely go to this CVS, primarily because of the awkward layout and the limited availability of the items available compared to other CVSs. But since it was on my way home, with no Walgreens in sight, I decided to try and grab a refill for my Glade plug-in. Of course, they lock these items up, so I press the button to call over someone to open the case. After waiting way longer than I should've for help (about 15 mins), I gave up and purchased whatever else I needed that wasn't behind a lock. The irritating part was that there were like 3 to 4 employees standing in front of the cash register, which was at the end of the aisle I was in waiting for help. And instead of anyone coming over to open it, or at least finding somebody who was able to, they were hanging out chatting, gossiping doing anything but work unless somebody was purchasing something at the register. But they were directing everybody to self-checkout, so they didn't have to do anything resembling work. Would it have killed someone to pause their conversation for 2 minutes and get this shit open for me? No wonder people be going off on workers. I work in customer service, so I would never, but the service or lack of it today made me kind of understand the frustration. read more

I'd like to preface by saying I'm not a person that normally writes reviews but this pharmacy is the worst pharmacy that you could ever have prescriptions at (& that's a lot coming from a former pharmacy technician). Not only did they not order the correct medication for me (which is still not filled), I've been on hold for the last 4.5 hrs trying to contact them to just cancel the order & put it on hold so I can just transfer out of the pharmacy. I even had another pharmacy call on the doctor line to attempt to get transfer the script & they called me back to say that they weren't answering the doctor line either. Came here to get my second COVID shot and I have to say that the logistics of this CVS store were super well organized. I had a very pleasant end to end experience. I had an appointment at 11 am and because I arrived a little early, they had me wait outside at one of the socially distanced stickers they have laid out on the ground. Within the next 10 minutes, a cluster of people had formed outside, all there for the same reason I was. Once my appointment time came, I checked in at the front desk and they directed me to a woman in the back who then showed me which "booth" to go into. The nurse asked me all the appropriate questions and confirmed my identity, gave me my jab, and then told me to go back to the lady. The lady took my card and set a timer for 15 minutes and then directed me to one of the seats they have laid out (all socially distanced as well), where I proceeded to wait for 15 minutes so they could monitor me for any reactions. Once my 15 minutes were up, the timer went off, the lady gave me my card, and I was on my way. Very well organized. Outside of their COVID procedure, the store itself seemed very clean and orderly and wasn't overly busy considering that it was a Saturday morning. read more

There's a new drug store in the neighborhood. For years, Walgreens cornered the market on Van Ness. This CVS just opened this week. They are at the former EastWest Bank spot. Store is smaller than Walgreens but clean and organized. Workers are friendly. Now I can finally shop the sales at CVS since they are close to work. read more

Probably the best CVS in the entire city. The best customer service, clean, and the inventory is always stocked. I've been in the store to experience when questionable visitors come and compromise the energy of the store and their security/staff are always on top of it. Amazing pharmacist always helps me get my medication! In addition, makes sure that I get any & all discounts on other items. I drive in from Walnut Creek just to get a particular medication that my local pharmacy seems to be unable to stock or order. The pharmacy is awesome! They are the only ones within 20 miles of my house who are able to provide a certain medication. They are the best CVS in the Bay Area! Clean store, big aisles, VERY NICE STAFF and very brave! The creep-a-zoid zombies who continually attack this store have made shopping here very difficult. One was swinging a HAMMER a couple of weeks ago. This morning some half-pint jerk had stuffed half the store under his sweat shirt and Manny was confronting him and and truly was in danger. At least once a month one of the main windows is broken. Who are these losers? MANNY, the manager here at this store, needs to get HERO OF THE YEAR AWARD. He fearlessly faces off these creeps and I don't know how he continues to represent the store so responsibly. I am sure he not paid enough to put up with this awful reprehensible behavior. The people here are very friendly. Sf has a huge theft crime thing going on..all the stores are on high alert..but, they have a good balance. The $5 month fee for membership is worth it if you shop there often. Insane discounts..just check their app for good deals..click the coupons on the app. You can also cancel there super easy. read more
