This compounding pharmacy (AKA the way pharmacies used to be) is by far the VERY BEST Compounding Pharmacy in California. I need a medicine with a natural filler and this pharmacy has been able to fill my personalized medication for the last 10 years CONSISTENTLY and with SUPERIOR communication between my Doctor and myself. This pharmacy goes over and beyond to make sure I get the absolute BEST medication for my body. Based on the lack of customer service and empathy during our text conversation, I would not choose to work with Koshland in the future. It seems they would have a financial interest in patients choosing to fill prescriptions through them, but they don't seem to care about helping you get insurance coverage. They also messed up the prescription from the doctor and if I hadn't been paying attention to the details I would have paid $300 for the wrong formula. See attached text thread. read more

I appreciate and have read your response thoroughly. I only deal in facts and understand your need to defend your business but your defensive strategy is fraught with inaccuracies and either intentionally or unintentionally false in its narrative. Your customer service representative was polite but failed to adhere to her statement to me about checking on time frames for compounding my prescription. I mentioned to her that I was leaving Saturday at 3am, for out of country trip and if for any reason that time frame was unrealistic then please DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FILL PRESCRIPTION, and I will be happy to find another way. She whole heartedly agreed and stated she would call me back on this before end of day. Unfortunately, she never did this and I noticed 15 minutes later a charge came in on my American Express Platinum business card for this particular transaction SO I assumed the answer on time frames was that yes, it was going to be able and done for pickup on Friday. On Friday, at exactly 10.07am since I had not heard from any employee at Koshland Pharmacy, I called and Tatianna answered phone. She was polite but hurried and again, said she did not know the status of aforementioned order and she definitely was swaying towards not being done on Friday,( pls keep in mind they charged me 10 minutes after my phone order on 7-10 @ 10.53am and no call back for answer to my initial question. She said she would have to call me back. I definitely told her that if not done in time for my pickup on Friday, I would need to cancel and have American Express platinum card reverse charges. I must admit I was frustrated but NO PROFANITY EVER. She was rude at this point and no more communication took place. I have all my call logs and I definitely recorded the telephone call under Oregon Law. I have the entire recording and I had my team go over it and no impropriety's were noted. Koshland is guilty of very inferior and rude customer service, Lack of promised communication between Patient, and Koshland pharmacy staff, Charging credit card before delivering the product OR charging before any acceptance, permission, was given. Although Koshland pharmacy said they called me AFTER the aforementioned prescription was ready for pickup in late afternoon, This is not true as my call logs are computer logged and checked hourly. I have call logs, telephone recordings, and transcribed conversations. My credit card company is aware and investigating. I will accept a call from only the OWNER at my 541 area code number if he would like to discuss this. I would welcome this so let's see if he has the where with all to appreciate the situation and de-escalate to defuse and solve this issue. My doctor called in a specialty prescription that had to be compounded for off-label use. (Off-label prescriptions tend to be older, much cheaper with far fewer side effects). Koshland got the prescription together quickly. They're conveniently located by the entrance to the Bay Bridge if you live in downtown SF or work in the city and drive home to the East Bay. They'll also ship it to you (extra charge may apply). Bonus points: Koshland will run your package downstairs and hand it to you because parking can be gnarly. Is this even legal? My prescription changed to every other day so I received half the amount of meds and yet was charged the full price and the explanation given was that the prescription still covered a 90 day time period. That doesn't even make sense. Not happy. EDIT: Kudos to Koshland for their extremely rapid response. They jumped on this on New Year's Day and got it resolved very quickly even during a holiday. I have experienced Koshland Pharmacy as a pharmacy that acts unconscionably reckless with respect to patient safety. My medical provider sent in a refill eight days ago, and I followed up with Koshland five days ago. I was promised there receipt of my refill today. This is a medication that you absolutely cannot miss and, if you do miss, comes with the risk of seizures or death and at the very least physical agony. Koshland is aware that I finished my prior batch yesterday, per their instructions and the instructions of my medical provider, and that I needed to receive the new batch no later than today, and they certainly had been given plenty of lead time When I called for another status update today, Koshland claimed to have been experiencing for a few days issues with implementing a new system, that they haven't even started compounding my new batch yet, and that they have no idea when they will do so. I was also informed that Koshland will not expedite shipping once my medication is ready even if I were to pay for it. Under the circumstances, it is astonishing that Koshland did not feel the need to notify me when their system started failing, preventing me from sourcing my medication elsewhere in a timely fashion. There is obviously no process in place at Koshland to deal with their current crisis. To the contrary: when I called, there was zero sense of urgency, just condescending and dismissive attitude and scripted customer-service platitudes designed to make me go away, as though they were dealing with a delayed iPhone shipment, not a medication that prevents serious injury and that they had promised to provide in a timely manner. There was no concern for the risk of serious physical harm. When, upon request, the call was escalated to the manger after 50 minutes, things at least turned professional, but the manager was not able to resolve the issue either. She said that she would try to expedite my order with the pharmacy department, which is not preventing the harm occurring between now and when I will receive the medication, whenever that will be, and in any event, the manager was neither able to promise that that will actually happen in light of their ongoing system issues nor to give me an estimate as to when to expect my medication. Just to be clear, the issue is not that Koshland has been unable to compound and ship my medication in a timely fashion as they had promised. It is instead that they choose not to until they fix their in-house tech issue. Koshland has made it exceedingly clear that it has no appreciation for the seriousness of its failure to handle the situation responsibly or for the attendant, potentially grave, harm to patients. read more

I ordered a refill on May 10. Koshland did not ship until Friday, and FedEx says I will receive it on Tuesday. How can it take *sixteen days* for a standard medication to arrive? No apology, no springing for weekend delivery, nope. I live in Menlo Park and Koshland is in San Francisco. I think the late shipment was a mistake on Koshland's part as, when I texted for a status (13 days after I ordered), they said it would go out that night. At that point, it seems like they should have messengered it to me. What's so infuriating about Koshland is that: a) it used to be great!; b) it seems like they are clearly struggling with some growing pains or staffing issues, as they are definitely making some errors - 16 days to deliver a medication is ridiculous and, I would imagine, clearly not Koshland's goal. But there doesn't seem to be an effort from Koshland to really own and humanize the poor service. After my last review, someone from Koshland contacted me but, after I had to call her back (and wait on hold), I got the complete runaround and it seemed like she was doing three different things at the same time. Time to fill a prescription. I ordered my prescription 2 weeks ago. Called today to inquire on status. I should receive by Thursday. I was told it takes 7-10 BUSINESS days to fill a prescription and this doesn't count weekend days. Be prepared to wait a full 2 weeks, or more. read more

Osh Kosh(land) b'gosh My first visit and such a pleasant experience. The pharmacy is pristine located in a lovely building. which is secure in that they buzz you in. I felt like I was walking into a sterile lab. It was so clean with their compounding room encased in glass with this intricate equipment and pharmacists and/or pharmacist techs inside in sterile garb as in caps, sheer body suits, etc. They also have these great bamboo pens at counter as takeaways. They kept me informed re: the progress of my scrip, and when it was ready for pick up. The person at the counter was quite delightful. I'll be back. read more

Excellent, super-responsive, knowledgeable staff who exceed expectations. Other compounding pharmacies can take 2+ weeks to figure out how to stabilize the recipe for a prescription. Koshland takes a few days or less. Even when I needed to have a prescription transferred from Koshland to a local pharmacy, Mia and pharmacists at Koshland went out of their way to ensure that I was well taken care of. When I refill a medication and there is a price increase, as a consumer, I want to know exactly how much I will be charged before the prescription is sent out. Every other pharmacy I've (re)filled a prescription at tells me the price in advance (regardless of whether there is an increase in price or not). Koshland is the first pharmacy I've encountered that does not tell patients how much they are being charged in advance when refilling a medication. If CVS and Walgreens can inform patients of pricing in advance, so can you. My prescription that I refilled increased by $36 and I was not notified. I called in and asked about the price increase, and was told by the rep that a mass email was sent out about a blanket 10% price increase. I checked and I did receive the email. But I don't read all of my emails - simply don't have time to go through and read every single email I receive, and I think most people are in the same boat. The way it was explained to me was that manufacturers increase their prices and therefore Koshland is forced to increase their prices. If that were in fact what was behind the price increase, each medication should be judiciously increased accordingly. The medication that is used to compound my prescription did not increase in price - I checked. When blanket price increases of this nature are passed on to consumers en masse, it becomes obvious that this is a money grab. I refuse to be treated like a cash cow. Koshland has lost a customer, and I think (and hope) will lose many more with this lack of transparency and unethical business practices. **3/1/24: Updating to 2 stars, since they did acknowledge their mistake and refunded me the $36. read more

I needed a compound mixture of Gabapentin for my cat. They have 2 flavors chicken or fish. I had to have a liquid because I couldn't get a pill down and she wouldn't eat the power on the food trick. This was such a blessing for me. FYI, parking is very difficult. They will bring it to you out front. DO not leave your car in the yellow zone. I avoided a ticket but barely and I was only in there 3-4 minutes. read more

As indicated by another reviewer, these prices are INSANELY INFLATED! The price for a compounded cream went from $1.27/dose at another compounding pharmacy to $3.96/dose! Another Rx was 2.3 times higher. In addition, they made a mistake in the dispensation device, when I specifically requested a different one. Their only explanation for these much higher prices was "the quality and labor that goes into" preparation. Which is the same at any compounding pharmacy. I will not be returning to this pharmacy. Called some other places and was able to get it for about $90 including shipping from Carefirst Specialty Pharmacy in NJ. How do they stay in business with such wildly inflated prices?!
