Desperate for a pair of earbuds (I cannot do public transportation without them), I made my way here to Target in the Metreon. In the app, I was able to look at reviews and do my research prior to visiting. When I arrived, I knew what aisles to visit to locate the items. The sale price was stellar, the inventory stated was present. The store was clean, well organized and stocked, and the service received was amazing. One employee helped me with a falling box of crackers. Another employee helped locate an unmarked aisle and unlock the display case to obtain the earbuds. Both employees were friendly with a welcoming exchange - I greatly appreciated the service received. I was able to check out my tech and crackers in electronics without hassle and immediate service. I would definitely return again to shop for my wants and needs. It is about a 7-10 minute walk from Montgomery Bart (depending on what exit you take to reach street level). read more

Target. Borderline service. More SECURITY than persons helping people trying to get products out of cases. Products rarely on ' real' sales. When you have time ... to shop ' regularly' you know when the sales price, is a ' sale price!!' No one is patrolling to SEE if you CAN find anything. There are just the people who open the cases who offer NO ADVICE about the product. I also go to pharmacy. Manager cold; not, cool. Pharmacy ALWAYS overwhelmed!! They send you to the people who are supposed to answer your questions; but, it's OBVIOUS that they don't WANT to be bothered. It doesn't help when their MANAGER has the same attitude. Bathroom out of order. When open, rarely clean. Store relatively clean. Selection. They rarely have variance of selection for products. It's the same product over and over. No self check out. Long ass line. Great selection, standard for a target. Standard value for a target. But why are the lines so long. Even the return/exchange line was so long. It was very frustrating. This also wasn't during rush hour, lines are just long here. But staff was kind. On Mission St. adjacent to the AMC theater and park. It's also close to the W Hotel and the Moscone Center. Generally this Target is in a great location in the Financial District as well as the many businesses and restaurants, apartments, etc. Bring your own bag to save a few cents. As there are shelves that are locked we were able to find help quickly. Something for every member of your family. I think the value is comparable. What I did not appreciate is the notice at checkout related to price checks, it seems a bit unfair to "speak now or forever hold your peace" kind of option. Geez, this target is a chaotic. It's pretty unorganized. We went to buy some wine and they were all locked up, which is understandable, however there was the security sound siren on near by as someone tried to take something. We pressed the button for help and nobody came by for a while. My husband looked for somebody and just asked him to open it so we can get 2 bottles of their "nice wine" and by nice it's $20. lol. He said the button is broken and also said that siren noise is broken too. So then it was just really loud and annoying. Such a mess. And I get why there's security and security sounds and sirens everywhere. We saw some homeless people in the store just stealing and eating some of the chips/candy. read more

First off, parking was hard to find. Then it was mass confusion once you entered. People with bicycles, dogs cutting infront of you while the owner doesn't pay attention, hard to fond a staff member to open up locked merchandise, store in disarray, not a very good experience at this store. This Target has been my go to location during my visit into downtown SF while staying at the St. Regis down the street. They have been my saving grace into providing all the everyday necessities. If you want to experience Halloween everyday you have to walk the aisles of this Target in Downtown San Francisco.This Target has everything from towels to televisions.There are aisles of merchandise through out the store. They also have fruit produce for sale along with bottles of wine. There is also an interesting book collection in the back of the store which is hidden ( I wonder why?) This Target audience here is usually made up of lost tourists , the lunch bunch, tweakers , zombies, conference attendees, families and everyday people of San Francisco. If you can wait for after Halloween there is probably a drop in candy prices ( at some stores). You never what types of surprises you'll find at the Downtown store in SF. 1 Star I usually enjoy shopping at Target, but this particular location left me extremely disappointed. I came in planning to shop, and my kids urgently needed to use the restroom. We asked one employee, who told us it was downstairs. When we went to check, another employee said it was actually upstairs. After going back and forth, we were finally told that the restrooms are employees only and that they are very strict about it. As a family trying to shop, this was incredibly inconvenient. If a store expects guests to spend money there, the least they can do is provide access to a restroom--especially when children are involved. The lack of clear information and the unwillingness to accommodate guests was frustrating and unprofessional. The only positive part of the visit was one kind employee from order pick-up who compassionately suggested we use the restroom next door since Target's restrooms are off-limits. I appreciated her honesty and understanding, but overall, this experience was enough for me to choose not to shop at this location again. A store that can't accommodate basic customer needs is not a store I feel comfortable supporting. read more

I waited than 10 minutes and I look around and the staff was in the next isle. When checking out the line was so long and only 2 cashiers open. This Target is different. I mean, it's a Target in the middle of SF, of course it's going to be different, that's just how it goes in the city. You'll certainly see that the sketchy locals from the streets will find their way through the doors and up the escalators. While they disappear into the maze of aisles and sort through your typical Target crap, I came here twice, once for some over the counter meds and the other time to pick up a prescription - my back and head through me for a loop and I was in pain! This Target store lack security, and it can be slow during the check out due to long lines. I would avoid shopping here unless I have to. I guess it is a popular Target Store due to the location, so it attracts a lot customers but it also has a lot of retail thefts in this Target Store as well. I needed some things so placed an order for pickup. It ran smooth and I like how pickup is off from the store so you don't have to enter. I wanted to get one more thing so I went in to get some candy. I get to the register and a young Hispanic guy wanted one but didn't acknowledge me. He didn't greet me, made very little eye contact, looked off behind him and even spoke to the customer in Spanish behind me. I wasn't told the cost of my item , just given a receipt . It was one of the coldest interactions I've experienced especially from a Target associate. I'm a loyal cardholder and couldn't wait to fill out the survey. I deserve better from my shopping experience. No one deserves to be ignored. read more

This target was interesting. It would have items I'm not sure anyone needed but the things I needed were either out or stock or they didn't carry at this location. As you enter there's a Starbucks on the ground floor. Before going up the escalators i said hi to the security guard and the target loss prevention speciality as well as grabbed a bag for my umbrella since it was raining and didn't want to create a mess. In addition to not finding most of my items it wasn't a very well labeled store. Usually most chain stores have some sort of uniformity but this one was a very confusing for me and my group. Shelves were semi bare too. Perhaps everyone stopped by here due to the rainstorm and cleared a lot of it out? Perhaps it's because it's a centralized location and there's a lot of foot traffic? Not sure why. Employees were helpful. It helps that I spoke Spanish and was able to communicate with them in their home language. Problem was because of it being a poorly labeled store, I had to keep asking them for support. It was clean and smelled pretty decent. There wasn't a ton of cashiers so the lines were pretty slow. As I waited by the Starbucks for my Lyft which was about a 30 min wait. Security stopped two people. Unfortunately both of them were of color. Security asked for proof of receipt. One gave it to them right away. About 20 mins later they stopped another guy. The second guy kept asking why since there was many others seemingly walking in and out with big items that weren't in bags. He finally showed them it but it didn't feel right to me that both of them were Black men. It feels like it has the potential to be better but sadly comes in at 2 stars. read more

I was there on Black Friday (11-29-24) at around 3:30 pm and I saw that the last cashier lane was empty and a guy walked through with candy without paying! There was no security at the top of down escalator like before, and security patrolling the store were wearing fluorescent green jackets (not undercover) so potential thieves can easily avoid them. I was thinking of how much they could steal with no one noticing. I even tried to block the lane with a shopping cart. When I mentioned it to security downstairs by Starbucks, he just shrugged. WTH?! Either he doesn't care about theft and doing his job, or he's just there for a paycheck. read more

I haven't been inside a Target in awhile (years - actually) - so I had a true blast making a visit here yesterday. I felt like an unattended kid - with my cart and big grin - loading up my basket with towels, pillow cases, special detergent, a linen robe - and so much more. I was so excited about the current selection here - from natural kitchen wipes - to a sweet collapsable hamper - that if my cart wasn't so full with items - I would have spent hours in here. Literally. The best part about this store - is that it seems (from my experience) to be staffed by fantastic employees. I realized after checking out - that my basket was full of brimming bags and I would definitely need some help with them. I had never done such a big shop at this particular Target and wasn't sure the best way to navigate bringing my stuff down to an Uber - since you can't bring carts down the escalator/stairs. A wonderful staff member directed me to an amazing employee - who went out of their way to help me navigate the cart in the elevator and instructed me on the best spot to grab an Uber and helped me walk the cart over to the Uber - amidst a sea of downtown walkers. The employee was a true angel and I wish I had caught her name - because she deserves so much props! She navigated that cart like a pro through downtown SF. Thank you! I'm already planning my next return visit to this Target. It's honestly such a blessing that the city has this outstanding resource in the downtown area. I know from past late night trips here, that it's been key throughout the years for picking up basic food and self care items. Trust. read more

This Target is honestly not too bad. It's not amazing that you need to ride a crowded escalator to get up to it and it's not as large as other Targets, but beyond their travel section (which is frequently essentially empty), they always had all our other items in stock. They do have quite a bit of theft deterrent in place, but I actually prefer the way this Target is laid out so that all the personal care items are in one line as it makes it easier to shop, over having everything laid out on the edge so you have to circle the store to pick everything up. It's easy to stop in, drop by self checkout, and pop back out. The one loss of star is that the self checkout associates sometimes loudly call out to you to try and force you to go through the staffed checkout. I don't know who trained them to do this, but it's aggressive and the fact the entire line ignores them should clue you in. Otherwise this Target definitely comes in in the clutch, and we definitely appreciated having them next door when we stayed at the Marquis. read more

When I first moved to SF a couple weeks, of course I had to stock up on essentials and target is closeby so I figured, this is perfect. And I love target....usually. This target is not the target we know and love. It almost feels chaotic in here? And this was the first time I ever been in a store where they lock up basic essentials. I can't even get deodorant without asking someone to open it up. But I guess this is common in SF because of stealing. Its just weird (or rather funny) that toothpaste is locked up but not trojan. At metreon, it's a massive target in this busy area and if you are working nearby it's great to get snacks, drink, and food for cheaper than other places. I like coming here for lunch and eating at Yerba Buena Park which is connected to the metreon through a walkway. There are elevators going up and an escalator in front of the building. Shoplifting is a problem here so there is a lot of security but it seems like every time I come there is still do to f getting busted of running away. read more

This store is located in the San Francisco Union Square neighborhood. The hours are shorter than other locations and this store locks up a lot of things. You have to ask an associate to buy some common household items. There are also some homeless people that walks around inside the store, but the store also have police presence. I closed my target card account after the Target desk lady who supposed to accept my $20. payment for my bill for $17.18 kept my $20 and didn't give me change either. The security guard was a witness. Now Target keeps sending me bills for $18.18 which I refuse to pay. I called their fraud division and got nowhere except to express doubt about my sincerity. This Target is kind of hard to find, the entrance is on the corner of Mission and relatively inconspicuous as far as Targets go. But the signs on the inside of the food court/AMC theatre point you to a non-functioning entrance. The Pharmacy section is almost 100% encased. I had to wait in line to ask a Target employee to please unlock the cabinet for me to grab a $4 bottle of Miralax. Other than that, checkout is relatively easy - lines are short and quick, and there are multiple registers open on a late Sunday Afternoon, meaning you probably won't be stuck waiting to operate a self checkout computer. read more

This SF Target intentionally overcharges every customer!! For over 6 years this store's cashiers do not credit the customers for bags brought in by the customer which is Target policy. This credit is automatically applied by Target cashiers in Daly City & Colma but the SF 789 Mission St Target consistently refuses to give the receipt credit even when asked by the customer as I did yesterday at cashier #4 at around 230pm Oct 12. I immediately walked to the Service Desk to tell them about this willful breach of store policy and the larger Asian woman told me I need to tell the cashier to get the credit and told her I did at Register #4 and she refused even as she saw i brought bags to bag my groceries. (So she is saying we customers suffer due to poor training by Store supervisors/management - how is this good customer service?) When I asked what about all the 6+ years of receipts in the Target app from this store where I was overcharged the Asian guy ignored me and walked inside to the office! You can see this from Target surveillance footage if Store Manager has any interest in checking this to confirm which employees gave this inadequate customer service. No wonder Target boycotts ongoing & multiple poor store reviews. These store employees & managers do not care. read more

And the people who work the registers all are very low iq and randomly will just close their register . Let me begin by saying I'm a tourist. I placed an order online for pick-up but needed to stop in for a few items as well. When I selected this location it was due to it's proximity to my hotel - I was not (and truthfully, still am not) familiar with the various boroughs in SF so this may not be in a sketchy part of town but it certainly felt sketch once inside. Everything is locked up behind plexiglass due to shoplifting. We needed bar soap and it was behind glass. It's whatever - just something to note. It was less the plexiglass and anti-shoplifting measures and more the general vibe of the store that earns this location a one-star rating. It felt chaotic and off. I wanted to gtfo as soon as humanly possible and was stoked to have my pick-up items and leave. Not sure of the other options - perhaps delivery would have been a better choice. I'll know for next time. Avoid this location if possible. If not, just be aware of your surroundings. I have never felt unsafe in a Target until this place, this place is twilight zone weird. read more

I honestly don't know why no staff at Target answers the phone eversince the pandemic. Isn't that part of customer service? It's definitely frustrating when you're trying to inquire a product but no one answers the phone to give you an answer. I honestly believe this needs to be change.
